Hi,
my internal storage is not showing correct size.
i have 2Gb of data on internal memory and it says 700Mb of free space instead of 1.8Gb
Does windows use this space ?? How can i use that space ?
Thanks
I assume you deleted some files (or so you might have thought) and these no longer show up somehow. I had this problem once. If you backup the stuff you want to keep and then use Pocket Mechanic to format your internal storage and then put back your backup stuff, you should find the storage size is now correct.
is it that if i delete a file through my PC (Disk mode) the phone doesnt know about it and assume it to be occupied.
will try it out if i dont find option other then formatting my internal memory.

Hi!
Today I flashed my Note from the leak JB to German ICS 4.0.4 and I did a factory reset before the downgrade. I know there's been some issues with some eMMC bugs but I decided to do it anyways. Now for some reason when I go to settings -> Storage it shows that there are 3,50gb of some miscellaneous files even after I format the internal memory. I noticed that when I remove my SD card my phone shows that the phone's internal memory is empty but when the SD card is installed the files on the SD card show up also on my phone's internal memory. What could cause it?

Use this app & see whats exactly those files are..
So I bricked my phone and ended up having to FXZ to the OTA JB update. Once I did I found that the internal memory just isnt there. There is still 4GB for the apps but no storage and backup will not work because it can not find internal storage. It also will not show up on my computer like normal. How do I get it to show back up?
thecodydavis was able to format his internal storage, after so many reboots, the phone ask him to reformat the storage space. And I believe reformat it will lose all the data in the storage, but you will have internal storage back.

I have the same problem except I need to recover the data. I am still trying to make an image of /dev/block/mmcblk1p26 (storage memory block) and hopefully data recovery tool works on the image.
Thanks! Pretty much what happened! Problem solved!
I can't use my storage because "other" is taking all my storage, I don't have many apps and almost all the folders in the main storage are empty, can someone help me?
get an SD Card and move the apps and extra data via Storage setztings or file browser to the external Storage
Your firmware need the 6,xx GB of Space, and why the hell you have 8gb stored (other) in internal ?

His question was what this "other" is, so your comment is pretty useless.
With "Other" are files, that your firmware dont know meant. for example obb-files of games, zip-files, backups and stuff like that

I just made a factory reset and unrooted the phone, I don't know what that "other files" were, but I went to 3 different file manager apps and all my internal storage was empty of heavy files, it was like a bad partition in the storage which I couldn't remove. Despite of solving the problem by myself thank you both.

Hi,
My cellphone seems to have the same behaviour.
In filemanager, only 560MB are reported, the phone itself claims that the 16GB internal storage is all but full. That with hardly any apps (facebook / spotify / and a few others) installed AND with all the photos videos and music stored on the SD card.
So how did you solve it ?

Hi, I just made a factory reset, and in the reboot I put internal storage as main storage, not the sdcard.

Hey, I ll give it a go when I can and let you know how it went.
(not my phone, but my daughters,... and I m only allowed to solve the problem during her holidays
Hi,
I'm trying to setup an sd card to increase internal storage in official miui 11 with Android 7, but I'm not being able.
I've tried first with adb shell and am comands with no luck, and then with an app called Activity Launcher that seems to allow some hidden options.
In both ways I'm able to format the sd as internal, and supposedly, even move some data there, but really it doesn't work, as free space is never increased.
I mean, sd disappears from showing in storage, and it's size goes to internal, but no as free space but as occupied one, so no gain there.
So, does anyone knows how to do that?
Thks
