Hello all...
Does anyone know how to open a Kaiser? I've got all the tools but I just can't find how to open it to replace the LCD screen.
Thanks.

Mario.

After many hours I got to open the Kaiser without causing any damage.
Tips:
- To remove the screen you just need to remove the 4 screws from behind the moving part.
- Be carefull because when you remove the cover there's a silver tiny screw connected to the speaker that you need to remover or you'll cause damage to the speaker and videoconferencing camera.
- I just used: T6, T4 and Phillips screwdrivers.
I'm posting some pictures.
Hope this helps to someone else...

currently trying right now (so i can see which connector i have) 4 screws are out but nothing seems to have losened up for removal
After removing the 4 screws you'll need a very thin tool to insert it between the screen cover and the screen casing. You have to be very carefull not to damage the cover, and make sure not to pull the cover too hard because you'll need to remove the speaker board screw first.
To remove the cover with the thin tool I started at the top and bottom of the device and then slided it over the whole device until the cover got loose.
Hope this helps...

Mario
Thanks for your help, looking to acquire a plastic tool for that...dont' want to use anything metalic and increase the risk of damaging anything more
I can't tell from the detail of the pictures, but how "integrated" is the front camera? Is it something I can possibly just "snap in" on my Tilt, or does a whole section have to be modified? I don't mind the idea of dremeling in a hole on the front panel.
Anyone know how I can quickly obtain the front camera and required connections/circuitry to apply it to my Tilt?
Hey Mario, Does this mean you didn't send in you Kaiser to HTC? I assume u went thru NJbridges. If so, are you up and running now? (determining what I should do)
I would also like to know how plausible it would be to add a front camera to the tilt.
What kind of connection is it?
Where can we get the part?
Hello all,
When removing the front cover you have to be carefull because the borad that holds the camera and the speaker is scrwed to the cover and if you pull it too hard you'll break the cables.
I went thru njbridges and I'm waiting for the replacement LCD, it's supposed to be here on Monday or Tuesday. I'll let you know the results. IMPORTANT: There are two LCD models differentiated by the color of the cable and connector, make sure you check that before ordering.
I didn't send my device to HTC because I live in Mexico and I needed a US address, plus they said the replacement could cost between $170 and $370 and I think they don't have the replacement LCD's in stock yet.
If you have a Tilt I don't think you'll be able to add a front camera to it.
Hope this helps!
Best Regards,
Mario.
Thanks Mario, still haven't fount a proper tool to open it as of yet. But please keep me posted on if you got you TyTn II working with the new screen, I have the same feeling about HTC US and the screen. got two different answers on two different calls.

So there is two LCD models? That explains why my replacement Tilt (which I sent back because I did not like, waiting for another) had a screen with a weired greenish tint to it.
Dude where did you get your LCD screen replacement? What's NJBRIDGES? Googled it but couldn't find a link. I need one badly!
Is this a universal LCD screen? Can I use older LCD screens from Blue Angel? Hermes? Etc?

search njbridges in the forum its a member here that sells them. Send him a PM.
no its not universal so don't bother trying to connect an older LCD to it.

Hey is it not just cheeper to sell it on ebay and get a kaiser? But i didnt message u to make fun of u lol i was really interested in knowing why you would need a front camera on a tilt? I am assuiming you are using it with ATT (I have a MDA VARIO III which has the front camera and plan to use it with ATT) and I thought they dont support Video Telephony...or do they now?
Hey Mario,
Just checking if you had any progress with this yet.
Hello,
I just came back from my trip and the UPS package with the new LCD was waiting for me...
I replaced the LCD in about 30 minutes and so far I've been using my Kaiser for about 3 hours without any problems.
I got my LCD screen from njbridges.
Happy again!!!!
Regards,
Mario.

i have observed some dead pixels on my phone but i dont know how to get rid off them. there is small circle in the middle of the screen and also on its side. i am not sure what is the best way of dealing with this issue??
please forward any suggestion to my email address.
thanks very much
You are experiencing "Newton Rings" where your digitizer has partially collapsed. You can attempt to use duct tape and pull the outter layer away and see if it goes away. Otherwise a screen replacement is the fix.
Search on "Newton Rings" for more info, also there are screen replacement directions in the forums somewhere.

Can you post a picture of your problem? Dead pixel sounds like a LCD-screen problem. Those rings (Bruce Inman calld them "Newton Rings") are a digitizer (the touching unit) problem.
how o do the trick witht the tape

same here... Is there a way to change digitizer only, without breaking the phone in 200 pieces?
let me tell you guys, frankly I was also victim of that kind of spots on my screen, and those came on screen when I was supposed to sale my mobile, I obsessed then I found a solution from this site, to keep my mobile into freezer area of any fridge packing into plastic bag or shoping bag but close it carefully.
Sounds might seem funny or joke but those who really experienced with freezing technique know It really help.... keep your mobile into freezing area about 10 hours or more.... then see the result

It aint that hard, I've just replaced the digitizer in my phone.
There are some video's on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhUmuVUNCDI
i have left my diamond 2 on a box for 1 or 2 months and the "dead" pixels disapear! its the solution!
Good afternoon for all! I need your help! Yesterday I accidentally dropped my phone and when I looked at the screen I noticed two little problems, it works perfectly, but it has one dark scratch and a little dark spot, but I don't know if they are in the Touch Panel (Or Gorilla Glass, I don't Know) Or they are in the LCD Panel. The Scratch looks dark in front, but if you look putting the phone aside, it illuminates and looks white. The Dark spot becomes larger if you apply pressure. This two problems are almost not noticeable until I open White or Clear colors screens.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me to know from where is the problem, the Digitalizer or from the LCD. Sorry for my bad english! I Still learning!
It's the LCD, i had the same problem with my phone.
Thank's!

Hello all,
A picture is worth a thousand words:
http://i.imgur.com/Idzqq8b.jpg
I broke the lens, the display and touch panel are perfectly fine. Still, I love this phone and am not going to change. I want to give it a better shape :crying:
I saw some videos on Youtube about glass replacement. I would like to have some feedback of XDA users, if some of you dared to replace only the glass (< 10$) instead of replacing the whole LCD part (150$ in my case). I replaced the whole part on a few phones before, but never did this manipulation.
Did some of you try to do this ? Is it likely to succeed ? If yes, what are the steps you have to be very careful ?
Thanks for your help !
Cheers
Hey Guys,
i have a problem with my Z3compact.
My Display comes up on one site corner so i have to fix it again with some special glue.
I've watched some Videos how to change the display completely but then i must dismantle everything in the phone from the back.
This is a lot of work.
Is there a way to fix the display from the front without dismantle the back?
Can i heat the Display carefully and lift it of for some Millimeters. Is the connector cable long enough to do it?
Then i would take the glue and fix it again.
Or is there no chance to do so?
Thanks for Help
OK today i made it.
It is possible to lift up the display for some millimeters.
Thats enough to clean the old glue and put the new one on it.
Now i have to wait until the glue is safe.
First little Test i made everthing works.
what kind of glue did you use?
