Hi, I rooted my phone to install the hebrew fonts and it works great.
The phone is factory unlocked, I rooted it as I said and set up recovery. I am pretty sure I saw something about super user while doing that but not sure.
So when I try to install the n1 torch or other mods via the market after installing them I just get a black screen when running them saying it is accesing SU and then it crashes.
Do I need to do anything else or is it possible that there are different ways/versions of rooting the phone?
If I do need to something to update the SU will it delete all my current settings and apps? When I rooted the phone I lost all my installations and settings.
Also, can I safely install any OS updates now that the phone is rooted?
Thanks!
You need to to enable root access to use apps link N1 torch... aka. super user or su... to do this, either flash a cyanogen, enomther or madcao ROM or flash modaco's superboot boot image...
If you want to keep everything as is and just enable su, use the superboot boot image... you won't loose any setting or apps...
As long as you have the stock ROM, you can install all OTA updates even if the phone is rooted... else, if you installed a cooked ROM, you might have to wait for the cook to include that in his ROM (Of course, this is generally earlier than OTA updates)...
Thanks for the reply but I think I already did that while rooting the phone I double clicked on 'install-superboot-windows.bat' while in recovery mode.
Is that what you mean or am I missing something?
Also ,what do you mean by the stock ROM?
Thanks!
Hello guys,
I had rooted my One and unlocked the bootloader but then for 4.2.2 i have relocked the bootloader and also unrooted it and also installed the stovk recovery.
But after flashing the stock rom i see the SuperSU installer app in the notification bar, app drawer and in system apps also!
down below are some pics!
I want to remove that app but without root
please can anyone tell me what to do??
have u find a solution
have u find out how to remove supersu installer?
same here
have you found a solution?
Please don't tell me you have to unlock the bootloader, again to do this...
The Less-Than-Obvious Solution
This was an initially annoying catch 22. You need to flash to go back to an unlocked stock, and then TWRP places the SuperSU installer on your freshly-returned-to-stock phone! NO! :crying:
The less-than-obvious solution is to actually install SuperSU, and then go into SuperSU settings and choose "Full Unroot". This removes all traces of the phone being rooted, and the phone also remains locked and without the tamper flag set. :silly:
I hope that helps you guys in the future, considering I'm kind of late to the party.

Ive removed supersu from the phone with 'Full Unroot' option but on factory reset it asks to install again.

1- Please don't double post, just get's everybody confused
2- if it's popping back up after a reboot, then you probably have a stock kernel (ie with write protection), and that will revert any changes to /system after a reboot.

Hi, I've a short query, is the Nexus launcher built-in in the Android 7? I've used Nexus launcher leaked version and it is awesome, liked it a lot.just wondering if it comes with final Android build?
It's been rebranded Pixel launcher and will be exclusive to the new Pixel phones (officially) however I'm sure there will be ways to circumvent this.
I have a TWRP flashable version of it, with the new wallpaper app. You can set different lock and home screen wallpapers.

Anyone else having issues installing. I have tried to install since we recieved the official Android N update with no luck. I tried the nexus launcher as well as the pixel launcher. I even tried different versions of twrp and does the same thing. It says install was successful, but when phone is rebooted, the launcher is not installed

Funny thing, it doesn't seem to be a System/Home option. I flashed mine, and had to choose at reboot, but I don't see if I could change it back (not that I want to).
Edit: Okay, it's not under System/home any more, but in System/Apps, tap the settings gear.
That's what I was thinking as well. But unfortunately it does not even show up there. I am at a lost. Strange part was I had no issues on the developers preview
Also would like to mention, I even flashed the one from the link you provided. It flashes fine in two with no errors, but it does not install.
The update after dp5 is kinda fishy, it seems. Some have problems with the radio. I did a clean flash, then added SuperSu and the Pixel launcher, and it worked for me.
Yes that what i was thinking. I did not really want to root the phone. Which version of the root are you using?
SuperSu 1.78
Just asking out of curiosity. Why that version. I have not used superuser for a while, which is why i am asking. I see SuperrSu is at version 2.78?
Sorry, typo, it's the 2.78.
Just had a chance to flash it.... and it is working. That is pretty strange to say the least.
Is it worth flashing it? Just made a clean install of Stock NPD90 and didn't flash TWRP yet

Not really. It's just a launcher with no extra features. Unless you count the ability to set different wallpapers for the lock screen and the home screen a feature.
But it looks cool, and you get an extra fixed icon on the bottom.

So the launcher only works after flashing SuperSu? Just installed the Pixel Launcher via twrp but it doesn't show up
That was the only way I was able to get both the pixel and Nexus launcher to work on stock.
Obviously a mistype... V2.78r1 is the latest.

Edit: sorry, I see that I was responding to an old post, but the link may be useful anyway.
I saw in an XDA-TV video that you are supposed to be able to either display the clock or weather on the home screen. Has anyone found a way to switch it? I'm thinking it might only be a feature with the Pixel launcher on the Pixel phones.
Good evening everyone,
I've been following really useful tutorials (thank you guys) on how to root my phone since my navigation buttons on screen refuses to work and the system is getting a bit outdated these days. I wanted to keep the camera functionalities from Sony so I followed this tutorial (https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343) and have successfully managed to root and update to a pre-rooted rom: D5803 23.5.A.1.291.
The problem is I noticed some apps won't show on google play store that I would normally use i.e animal crossing pocket.
I did some researching and found out my best solution would be to get lost in a bunch of tutorials and install Magisk.
Every time when I try to flash the latest Magiskv 14.0, I get an error with the system detecting elf32 and needs to use a bootbridge by AdrianDC.
I manage to find the bootbridge (https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/mod-boot-bridge-sony-elf-t3506883) and loaded the Magisk that way. The system says it has successfully installed it, but every time I reboot hoping to have Magisk, I get a red notification light in the upper left corner and a black screen.
It seems so easy via the tutorials and youtube videos but I am stumped.
I am a total novice but this is some really cool stuff and would like to learn more.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot or redirect me to some tutorial links I might have missed?
Thanks a bunch.

Probably a way, but easiest thing is probably to use custom kernel, (Elite), and Magisk will probably be fine with it. It just doesn't like stock elf kernel...

Thank you for your response.
So that's why was tripping up the installation.
I shall look into this custom Kernel and (Elite) you are referring to.

I have Oneplus 3t with 7.1.1 android. Only issue I am having is that if I turn Notification light on, there is no option to turn battery full, charging, and low notifications off. With them on i cant use the light at all, because it will light up my whole bedroom. I red from online that Light Flow is the best app that could have sleep time without notifications etc. but when i tested it, it could not turn those charging lights off. Is there some way to bybass this? Never seen issue like this before. I am not sure is it just bug that disable option is missing or such. I have been using this feature since 2013 with nexus 4 so unbelivable its missing from this.
It seems custom rom is only way to fix the problem, but what is stable enough for daily use? If I could fix this issue on normal rom I could use it for years, because there is nothing that i am missing or what i would need more from my phone.
If you don't want to change ROM, you can use Xposed and GravityBox, unless you use Android Pay or other SafetyNet protected apps

Are you rooted with SuperSU or Magisk? If the latter, then you can download Xposed through the Magisk Manager, then install Xposed Manager and GravityBox app.
GB has the feature to control LED for all apps, unfortunately the free version is limited to 50 reboots (full version costs about 4 USD).

If I were you, I would dirty flash current ROM (install it on top of currently installed without removing data), install Magisk and then proceed.

Is there any rom that would contain this automaticly without needing to do those things?
I have messed up my whole phone every time I have tried to update, because of the encryption. I am pretty sure that dirty flashing will mess up once again. Last time I tried magisk It did not work for some reason so i had to install supersu instead, because i allways need to root for adblock.
The second thing i hate in this phone is the constantly coming reminder that there is update avaible. With going to custom rom or such i could get rid of that problem too.

I don't think so and even there are such ROMs, and I wouldn't depend on them. Consider doing a clean flash and/or another ROM.

The encryption is most likely not an issue, at least I didn't have any problems with it.

This is the nature of stock ROMs, unfortunately, but you should be able to hide this type of notification (long-press on it and disable the notification, but it's not always possible).

When i got phone and updated and rooted it i managed to get it not to recognise anything meaning soft bricked. Then time went by and i decided to update phone when I was told the root will stay, but then encryption once again soft bricked everything. Never seen **** like that on any phone so I did not know there is such thing. Just one step more to make things harder.
Now I am wondering does that encryption mess things up today when i will install paranoid 7.3.1. Atleast i put up fastboot etc. ready on my computer so it will be easier to fix.

It is said that one should format data when migrating from OOS to custom ROM.
