I believe the CM/Lineage base does this. My phone says the same. It doesn't have any negative impacts, it doesn't really matter. Some ROMs also just show "Moto X (2014)" instead of XT1095.

Thanks for reply, yes i hope it is "roms" problem

I wouldn't think about a "ROM problem".
In this case, those ROMs were built from an specific version of MOTO X (2014) as a base, but since all versions al likely the same phone, ROM covers them all... but it has get a name, so Developers chose which one.
Otherwise we would have exactly the same ROM for XT1093/95/97, and that's uinnecessary.
If you want, you could edit it from your phone itself... If I'm not wrong, that line were name was added can be changed from bouild.prop.

my friends have xt1095 and it writes same, only for my phone is there xt1093 written. i hope there is no changing bands, because xt1095 has 4g in my country, xt1093 does not have

Moto X XT1055-DE Firmware files?

I have a soft-bricked Moto X XT1055-DE (GSM Developer Edition) that I can boot into fastboot with, and that's it. Does anybody know where the stock Firmware files are for this device? The host I was using had them yanked down.

No, it's not. The idiots at Moto Care seemed to want to brick my phone. They told me THAT was the model number, but now I know better.

I think there is an XT1053 and XT1055 GSM Dev Edition.
Btw, the GSM Dev image that you can download from the motorola link above is for the XT1053, I don't know if you noticed from the file name.
But I believe the hardware of all Moto X models is the same, it's just the software that's different. I'm running the XT1053 image on my XT1058 and it works fine.

Select OTHER CARRIER OR RETAIL, you would see a Moto X - DE (XT1055).
This suggests that there is an XT1055 DE as well...
Thanks for your help. I noticed after taking my Moto X out of the case that the model number is glazed on the bottom. It is, in fact, the XT1053.

[Q] Converting xt1097 to pure edition

I have a Telus XT1097. I know that without having a root method atm it is still just speculation but are we aware of any hardware differences or other issues that would make a convert to pure edition (xt1095) impossible?
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried unlocking your bootloader? It seems to me the Telus version is pretty much a Pure Edition, except for the model number... BTW does it have any TELUS bloatware at all?
FYI I believe the 1095 has different frequency bands.
Sent from my Moto X
I have not because as far as i understood the method was exclusively for the xt1095 but I'll give it a shot.
As far as bloatware, the only thing Telus installed on this phone is their "My Account" app. It's an app that you can download from the play store.
It's interesting to see the marketing used on Telus' website to describe the Moto X. The catchphrases are: "Pure Style, Pure performance" and then "Pure Android with the quickest updates". It leads me to believe that Telus will pretty much push out updates as they recieve them from Moto.
I'll be less inclined to root and flash if I see that I get timely updates, after using galaxy phones and flashing for the past 5 years i just want something that works great or of the box.
Regards,
Jeremie

I have XT1093 (US Cellular). The Pure Edition root method works for all variants with unlockable bootloaders. The key is to follow the directions completely. As it only BOOTS the system image rather than INSTALLS the image, it works fine. Boots the image once, installs SU to your system, then reboots to your system.

Sure thing,
I used the multitool to flash that Pure Edition Moto X 2014 (XT1095) ROM (full wipe)
Then flashed ATT Modem (downloaded from graffixnyc website)
Then sidloaded OTA update
Then restored my EFS from my TWRP backup.
Everything booted up fine, except I don't have a cell signal. It asks me for a SIM network unlock PIN. I'm stuck here.... I want to try and flash the telus modem. Not sure why it's asking for a SIM unlock PIN.
I mean how can I back up the modem file for you

It was asking you for unlocking cuz Att modem is sim locked.
So did you manage to successfully convert to 1095? I'd like to try, but I'm a bit worried about the modem issues, I'd need a sim unlocked modem i can use with Brazilian operators.
I'm a noob in moto x developing, so I'm already reading what multitool is and how-to's.

Yes that appears to be correct. I do not have a Developer Edition, but there is only one set of images for Verizon, which does have a DE device available. The firmware is the same, to my understanding, but the bootloader is able to be unlocked officially via the Motorola website.
Here are the firmwares you'll want. Ensure that if you pick one, you can only go UP in version, not down. So verify which version is on the phone first. You can only flash that version or a higher version (upgrading) but cannot downgrade to an older version. That will cause problems.

Google what bands it uses. Then compare to what at&t uses. I've seen in here people using it on tmo Idk about at&t. As far as which version to mix with your phone I'll bow out to someone with more experience with that
Edit: and next time you post make sure you put what MODEL phone you have and the software version. Would've saved some time possibly.

I had xt1096. Flashed through twrp stock 6.0 xt1095 from the android development section and it converted my phone to xt1095 automatically.
I am on GSM technology and everything works fine about 2 weeks by now.
Just make sure you have root and twrp and you're good.

Hi!, so I purchased an XT1096 on eBay that's coming today so my questions are:
1. How I can unlock the bootloader?
2. Can I flash any rom any rom from other variants? (Like XT1093, 95) [I don't use Verizon so I don't really care if I lost the CDMA signal]
3. Can I use other variants firmware or just the Verizon one?
Thanks!

The bootloader is easy. You can do it on the Motorola site (google the topic for specific directions). Then download and flash twrp recovery. I've been running Cyanogen for the most part. I wouldn't bother with other stock roms. Lineage will be out in a few weeks. There is also a Lineage build on 12-29 that is out there. I am running it now.

Motorola and Verizon have stated that they will not update the XT1096 to MM or 6.x so there is no "official" Marshmallow firmware from Motorola for this phone.
You can find an 99% stock MM ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/rom-xt1096-verizon-flashable-stock-rom-t3327345. Please read the full thread and ask questions there about this ROM. Some people - including me - are using it as their daily driver with little to no issues. This ROM has all the Motorola apps (Voice, Display, etc.) working as expected from a stock ROM.
Another option CM13. Read this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/orig-development/rom-official-cm-13-0-nightly-releases-t3256580/post65781867#post65781867. CM13 works on the XT1096 and other CM13-based ROMs should work but you will need to verify by reading their threads. Please be sure to read the full thread and ask questions there about CM13 or in the other threads related to other ROMs.
This is assuming that you are on the Verizon network and want to keep CDMA functionality. If you are using this phone on a GSM network and do not care to keep the CDMA access then you might want to look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-xt1097-to-xt1095-nextel-t2972693
All of the options above require that you have an unlocked bootloader. If your bootloader is locked please go here to learn about unlocking it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/motorola-unlocking-verizon-moto-x-2014-t3291104
Please read and learn as much as you can. Most - if not all - of your questions will be answered by reading through the threads listed.
XT1085
Hello everyone,
I'm currently using the moto X 2nd generation bought in china (XT1085) running android 5.0.2.
I would like to get rid of the retcn version of the system because I don't speak chinese for a retEU or retUS and install android 6 MM. Is it possible?
My phone is rooted and TWRP recovery installed
I tried to install this version : Version 6, because one guy wrote on the topic that it worked on TX1085 but it failed for me, and my phone stayed on the Motorola launching screen.
So now I'm back with the factory setup and would like to now how to install android 6.0?
Thanks
