There's a thread here which shows how to unlock LTE band 5 since the hardware supports it. Did this work for everyone who tried? If not, what issues did you have? Were you able to recover fully from the issue? If so, how?
I would like to unlock this band since Jio uses it, but I don't want to take any unnecessary risks.

Hey!
Ever since I've gotten my OnePlus 3T, I get lot's of network related problems. Sometimes when I call someone, the other person can't hear me while I can hear him/her. Sometimes I don't hear them at all and have no idea if they can hear me. Other times, the call will simply stop without any notice on my end. On my girlfriend's iPhone, it says "Call Failed." This can happen with anyone, so it's not an issue on their end.
I am running OOS Beta 9 but it happens on Stock as well.
I am on Videotron Network.
Is it possible that the phone is not compatible with this network? I can't RMA this phone because apparently a tiny scratch on it voided the warranty(??????).
As long as your phone is the A3000 model American networks except for CDMA should work. The A3003 and A3010 however are designed for the rest of the world and will not work 100% in America due to missing bands. And no, there doesn't seem to be possible to unlock the bands due to encrypted and locked data files in the modem data partition, if you got the wrong model, just sell it and get the A3000.
Sometimes I have the problem that people call me but they just hear "The called person isn't available right now..." . I don't know if the carrier is the problem or the phone. (My carrier said it's possible my phone switches networks and the call gets rejected but I don't think that's always the problem because it happens too often).
I do have the A3000 version. Should I contact my network provider? Or should I unlock my bootloader and flash a ROM non OOS based to see if it's a software issue?

Yeah, u should contact ur network provider & ask OnePlus about this network issue. If they still cannot troubleshoot the problem, then try to DOWNGRADE OOS Version. After that, if u still didn't get any solution, as the final resort,
Unlock ur Bootloader & start Flashing LOS based custom roms! (or what ever ROM u preferred)
Sent from my OnePlus 3T using XDA Labs
Try going into phone Settings, SIM and Network, and force 2G or 2G/3G, and see if that helps. I'm wondering if maybe your carrier is using Voice over LTE (VoLTE) that maybe isn't playing well with the 3T?
GSM (2G) phone calls should be bone simple, in that you don't need to unlock any bands or have the right model number. Most every carrier in the world uses 1 or 2 of the same GMS bands 850/900/1800/1900 (exception CDMA carrier as mentioned, and Videotron doesn't look to be one of those).
Downgrading to another OOS version is a good idea also, as this I believe should write a different modem to the phone, which might be the problem.
Hi Guys,
I recently picked up this version of the Huawei P10 from Rogers and unlocked it for use on the Freedom Mobile network here in Ottawa. According to everywhere I've looked, this device supports band 4 LTE, but for some reason it will not connect.
My wifes Google Pixel connects just fine and as it should. It also supports band 4.
Am I missing something here or is there a programming code or something I need to enter to enable all LTE bands or maybe even a modem I need to flash?
Let me know!
Hello,
I am new here and this is my first post. I do not know if there is a special thread to present me so let me do this here now.
I am 31 years old an live in Germany, I like to test, repair, restore all kind of things. My english is not very good, but I hope you will understand my problem.
Actually I bought a damaged Samsung Note 5 N920V (Verizon) in the US and now it is working very fine. Some parts have to be substitute by new ones, but everything important is working fine.
I think you all know the problems with band frequency of Note 5 Version in Europe. The signal ist not the best one because in the US they use other frequencys for GSM/LTE/UMTS and so on...I think you know what I mean.
Now I saw that the Note 5 Version N920C is fully compatible with european band frequency. Somebody want to sold the chargin port platine with softkey buttons and atenna and so one...the whole platine.
I want to ask you If somebody knows if it is possible to build in this part from the N920C Version into my N920V Version to get the european band frequency I need? Or is band frequency "blocked" in the software and this parts are absolutely the same?
Hope somebody can help me.
Thank you.
Kindly,
JeBaFe
I'd like to figure out this too. I managed to 'allow' LTE bands via QXDM (like here) but it still did not appear in Service Menu (2263 - LTE Bands Preference) so I guess it is some other low-level software restriction (modem firmware maybe). I'm getting poor signal reception in Europe and no LTE...
Hi,
the first of all problems is, to get into the service mode of an Note 5 N920V....or I am wrong? Actually I found no working solution for this. King root does not root temporarily on a N920V...
The second problem is, if the antenna of the N920C is adaptive to the N920V and if the signals are now covered by the new antenna, we should have problem number 1....we can not get into the service mode to unlock the needed LTE frequency? Right?
Somebody there who can help?
Kind regards.
U can change your network setting by dial *#2263# on your phone keypad.
Hi,
this does not work. I tested it some days ago...
I think the antenna board / modem is the problem.
But I am a little bit afraid to test it.
I rooted my phone (920K).
Usually it is low network signal indoor.
I dial*#2263# then service mode appeared. In Network setting select Band selection. Then i chose LTE/WCDMA/GSM. Then restart phone and wait a while to see what happen.
Hi, my Note 5 is from Dubai, does it mean I may encounter network issues here in Switzerland?

This depends which Networks are used for 3F / 4G in Swiss and Dubai. If they use the same frequenzy it should be no problem.
By the way....I swapped a Motherboard / logic Board from a Note 5 N920C to a Note 5 N920A and it was no problem. Now I can use my Note 5 without any problems here in Germany. :good:
So I can say now, swapping a logic board from one Note 5 to an other is possible. :good:
I'm novice to the whole rooting scene so please cope with me.
I found a good deal on almost new Lg v40 from a Sprint user.
We'll meet at Sprint store to verify device is paid off and unlock it.
Once Sprint unlocks it, can I just use this device on Tmobile with my Tmobile sim and will it have band 71 or do I need to have Tmobile fw on it to open band 71 ?
Lg website lists in specs for sprint model (model LM-V405UA) as having band 71.
Can anyone confirm ?

I don't think Sprint uses the same LTE bands.
Mine works just fine on T-mobile as of a week or so ago when i got it .Mine is the Sprint version full network & Factory UNLOCKED.
To make sure your GSM unlocked go to system/system-updates--
Then look in the list UICC Unlock it should say -----( The Device is unlocked for any SIM card )

*Edit - confirmed band 71 is only active in the tmo model, I went with it vs an unlocked variant*
Are you able to use band 71/600mhz? I've seen comments suggesting band 71 isn't enabled in any other model besides tmo, even though specs show all variants having the same band capability.
I'm in the same boat, on tmo & tempted by the lower priced unlocked variant, but would like to confirm band 71 is usable before ordering one.
my sprint v40 was working on t mobile for about two weeks then it went dead and lost its network settings now i cant seem to get it back on tmobile some1 help ! i did the uicc unlock and enable oem unlock

OEM unlock is specifically for bootloader unlocking not network unlocking..
I will be able to report back in about a week whether band 71 works.
I bought the Sprint version of the V40.
I am on Sprint now.
I am crossflashed to US.
I am switching to T-Mobile at the end of the week.
I live in a Band 71 market.

So I have switched to TMobile.
I used the hidden Service Menu ( *#546368#*405# ) to force the phone to Band 71. It did not connect to Band 71, instead to Band 2, as reported by LTE Discovery.
I then used the hidden Service Menu ( *#546368#*405# ) to force the phone to Band 12. It did connect to Band 12 as reported by LTE Discovery.
So either band 71 doesn't work, or I don't have access to Band 71 from my house. I have heard that there are confirmed Band 71 sightings in Kansas City, so I will go there to try. Once I do I'll report back.
Both VoWiFi and VoLTE are listed as provisioned.

Can somebody also confirm band 71 compatibility? I'm looking to get a Sprint V40 but I'm not sure if cross flashing will enable band 71. Also can somebody confirm if services such as VoLTE, HD Voice, and Wi-Fi calling will work on a cross flashed device? Also how exactly do you force gsm bands if it gives you a checklist? Do you just remove all the bands but one? Also will crossflashing to unlocked make OTA stop working? If so, why does it not work?
So I have to amend my previous post:
I can confirm the following:
Using the Hidden Service Menu from this post, and several apps out of the Play store, my phone sees T-Mobile bands 2, 4, 12 and 71 towers. And I have successfully been connected to a Band 71 tower.
Oddly enough, LTE Discovery still reports the connection as a different band. So I'm going with the Hidden Service Menu as definitive.

After you cross flashed, do services like VoLTE, HD Voice, and Wi-Fi calling still work?

Also how were you able to open that hidden menu. I entered in the code and nothing happens.

Not sure what you mean by still. I was on Sprint. Received Sprint v40. Immediately crossflashed to US version. Used phone on Sprint. Migrated to T-Mobile. VoLTE, HD Voice, and Wi-Fi calling work. That was the sequence. I have no idea if Sprint has those features or if they work on Sprint. But on T-Mobile with a cross flashed to US version v40, those services work just fine for me.
Now if you are thinking of crossflashing a T-Mobile v40, stop right now. You'll brick it. There is nothing you can do to a TMo v40.

I assume you are also entering it into the phone dialer. I type in the code, and the hidden service menu appears. If it's not working for you, I don't know why not.

I was referring to a sprint model phone but was nice to know everything works. Just have to wait and see if OTA updates work.
Does anyone know if other carrier bands can be unlocked via any method on a Verizon phone which is already "unlocked"?
The phone doesn't support T-mobiles main band, band 12, supposedly that is the reason why im not getting many calls or even notifications during busy times (10 voicemails with no notifications).
Can I flash the phone with unlocked T-Mobile firmware?
Even hardware unlocking would be doable if anyone knows about that(ie, replacing the motherboard, modem, etc).
