I just wonder, is it necessary to flash the latest firmware every time they released even we don't face any problems with the firmware that we're using right now?

If you don't face any bugs regarding network signal issue etc then you won't need to flash the firmware every time they release it, But to avoid such bugs, Yes you have to flash the new firmware every time.

It is always better to have latest firmware if there is any update from the previous.
But last time i heard, last few firmware are same, there isn't any update from Redmi. i am not sure about this one.

apply to which ROM? MIUI only or including LineageOS/CM? is this for MM or Nougat?

This firmware is extracted from global beta rom 7.3.16 and has to be flash before flashing 7.x.x based roms to avoid network issues.

Too many firmware threads here. hmm

Quick question. Does it has something new or the files are same from previous versions.

What does that even mean? Your answer makes no sense.
Are you not aware that the past several global beta roms all contained identical firmware?
I actually checked md5 for Kate firmware, and can see that the 7.3.16 files are different, at least for Kate.
Still, OP's apparent confusion does not inspire confidence in this or future firmware releases

If previous firmware are same then you should contact the miui developer team and ask them not to include the firmware in their releases. "As they are identical"
If they're identical then there is no need of adding the firmware every time they release developer rom.
Firmware are added just to avoid network issues.
Regarding the firmware files do not compliant here.

Restoring from Soft-brick via Linux

I bricked my phone by flashing the wrong zip in FlashFire. It hung at the ATT logo or powered off after the Samsung logo. The following method allowed me to restore it back to factory I537UCUCNE3 (4.4.2):
Boot into Odin Dowload Mode:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Odin_mode#Entering_Odin_mode
Code:
$ unzip SGH-I537UCUCNE3_v4.4.2_ATT_ALL.zip
$ tar -xf AP_I537UCUCNE3_987011_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

$ tar -xf CSC_ATT_I537ATTCNE3_987011_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

heimdall obtained here:

I hope this is able to help others who have locked bootloaders but rooted ROMs on SGS4A and have corrupted their ROMs as a result of a bad flash or similar. ENjoy!
Thanks ... and small typo.
First of all, many thanks for the post. It saved me! Second, I think you have a typo -- I believe JACTIVELTE_USA_ATT_16G.pit should be JACTIVELTE_USA_ATT.pit. Or at least, that's what I had to change to get everything to work.

You are right. I had to revisit these steps recently when I upgraded to OC7.
If reflashing ML2, that rom uses pit file named, JACTIVELTE_USA_ATT_16G.pit
If reflashing NE3, that rom uses pit file named, JACTIVELTE_USA_ATT.pit
When following the Lollipop Root Method mentioned here:
Once the flash is complete and the device reboots into "Download" mode, flash the I537_OC7_Bootloader using Odin's PDA/AP slot.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
If you want to use Linux just substitute the following for the Odin step mentioned above:
Code:
tar -xf I537_OC7_Bootloader.tar.md5
heimdall flash --SBL2 sbl2.mbn --SBL3 sbl3.mbn --ABOOT aboot.mbn --RPM rpm.mbn --TZ tz.mbn

On my i9515 I extracted aboot.mbn, modem.bin, non-hlos-bin, rpm.mbn, sbl1.mbn, sbl2.mbn, sbl3.mbn and tz.mbn from the firmware file.
In the G800F firmware file, I can't find all of these. Just the modem.bin, most other files img files...

Does doing this wipe data?

Anyone have separate EQI2 files?

I have the stock ROM but need the separate bootloader, CSC, and baseband, to flash in Odin.
Open the file with something like 7zip and extract the following:
Modem:
Modem.bin
Non-hlos
Bootloader:
Aboot.mbn
Rpm.mbn
Sbl1.mbn
Sdi.mbn
Tz.mbn
Csc:
Cache.img.ext4
Trlte_usa_tmo.pit
Recovery:
Recovery.img
Archive these into their own sperate tar or md5 file.
