Hello, i have a Note 5 N920I on android 6.0.1 which i rooted a while ago. after unrooting the device, the battery started draining fast, i have tried to re-flash stock firmware, factory reset and cache wiping but nothing worked. I have read in multiple threads that re-rooting with cf autoroot might fix the problem, that being caused by tripping Knox. anyone with the same issues and tried this solution ?

1)Once you have rooted your device you will trip knox counter 0×1 which voids warrant and breaks Samsung's security features
2)So even after flashing stock rom and unrooting you will face huge battery drain due to knox tripping and also deep sleep issue which cause battery drain
3)So the solution for this is to root again your device and apply dr.ketan's deep sleep fix..You can refer this in following link
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/how-to-root-note-5-t3205073/page15
**This fix is to be applied on Stock rooted 6.0.1 with stock kernel**
I have an unrooted (Knox=0) stock device with horrible battery life. Should I root and use this fix or just wait out for the N update? I am a fan of Sammy pay

I have re-rooted with cf autoroot yesterday without applying the fix and everything is back to normal. i checked with Dr Ketan's tool and it said DeepSleep was fixed! thanks !

If i were you i would check for other sources of the problem first before rooting if you want to keep samsung pay. check what's draining the battery most, also try entering safe mode and see if you have the same power drain. Try factory resetting if you had the problem after an update.

Hi,
Few months ago I've upgraded my 9305 to 4.3 and rooted it without a problem (and disabled KNOX)
Bulid: JSS15JI9305XXUEML8
BASEBAND:I9305XXUEMK1
KERNEL:3.0.31-2051278 [email protected]#1
Todat, I have returned to factory default, but this time I could not perform any root: Using ODIN 3.07/3.09 and CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3zh-gti9305, as well as Kingo, did not help.
Rooting process was fine and the device has restarted, but the phone was not rooted and KNOX cannot be removed
I've tried it several times, while all rooting process were reported by odin as "success" but actually, nothing.
Please advice. I'm nearly desperate...
Thanx

Hi, long time lurker, been on hiatus for a bit since knox came in, but looking at trying to root my current phone.
Can I ask where and how you manage to disable KNOX? I've got 4.3 with KNOX after sending in my phone for warranty repair, and didn't wish to accidently screw things up messing with KNOX.
If you can point me to the right direction so I can disable KNOX it would be awesome. as my current stock rom is crap.
Cheers,

He means disabling the Knox security features I believe. Supersu does this automatically after installing and activating it.
To the best of my knowledge I still dont think anyone has found a way to disable the Knox flag in the Booltloader. So if you already have stock Samsung 4.3 on the phone, then you will get a Knox warranty void flag if you mod it.
^ Thanks for the clarification. I totally thought I missed something... lol.
Hi all!!
After spending a huge amount of hours, searching the forum, I still have doubts...
Is it possible to downgrade from Lollipop, to kitkat, without tripping knox (warranty void) in the S5???
Some say, that flashing with Odin it's ok, others say that will go in a loopboot, others say that the bootloader is not compatible, and flashing a new rom will trip knox, others say that if the rom is official, will not trip knox...
What to believe??????
If there is a way to downgrade, safely and without tripping knox, please show me how, in a step-by-step process, I really appreciate it.
Here are the mobile phone data:
SM-G900F
Firmware: G900FXXU1BOD3
Thanks in advance!
Downgrade away, I have the G900F, and flashing KK over LP works fine and does not trip KNOX
You only trip KNOX by flashing custom stuff, stock ROMs are signed by Samsung so do not trip KNOX
The only issue I had was having to flash KK twice, first flash worked but wouldn't boot, flashed again, booted first time

And how did it go?? Did You safely downgraded to KK?? I was thinking about it, got my S5 with pre-installed Lollipop but without root I can't block adds and stuff - it's rather annoying.

You can root lollipop, but it'll trip KNOX
CF Auto Root
Yeah i know that CF-AutoRoot works on lolly but I'd rather keep my warranty void Guess no new method on gaining root w/o tripping knox was introduced to S5 design If i recall S6 is rootable now without knox messed up but no go for S5
I flashed my S5 a few months ago from 5.0 back to 4.4.2, and last week the same thing, but on my gf's Note3.
It's kind of easy and safe to do, if you do some research in advance:
- find exactly which ROM you need (the wrong one won't work and make ur phone temporarily unusable).
- download the official stock ROM
- KNOX won't trip if it's an official stock ROM.
- Boot the phone in recovery mode to wipe the cache partition and do a factory reset (after backing up the important data).
- Flash with Odin. There's many youtube tutorials on that one.
Enjoy.
If you didn't do a factory reset, wipe cache partitions etc you'll almost certainly get stuck in bootloop after flashing. In that boot up in recovery mode again, do those wipes and then restart.

Hi all!
Tell me something, after flashing KK, software update is allways trying to update to LP... is there a way of avoiding this, without root access?
Thanks in advance!
you need to disable the FOTA processes, but I'm not sure you can do that without root
Ok guys so let me get this straight - I only need proper KK image, provided by Samsung (their signature and so on) with my CSC (in my case Polish XEO)? Then connect my phone with PC, start ODIN (any particular version?) and what to choose, what check and what not? Sorry for this only had HTC before (and Sony and LG but those are wifes phones) and flashing on it was a bliss, especially when You had S-OFF.

Not stop, but you can delay it indefinitely by clearing the cache in recovery each time it has the update ready for you to install
Then boot back into droid, and hit the install button, which will fail because you just deleted the update in recovery
Rinse and repeat
You can root KK without tripping KNOX though, so no reason to not root it really

Either make sure your KK ROM is a pre June 2014 build, if not, either flash with ODIN, or read up on how to downgrade only the Kernel to a pre June 2014 KK kernel, then use towelroot app to root it, and flash your original Kernel back
All the info you need is here on XDA, might take a bit of reading, but you should really learn as much as you can before blindly flashing things anyway
I read in another thread, someone said that if your S5 came with LP out of the box, you can't downgrade to even official samsung KK without tripping knox. I'm not sure how true is this or whether that person is just blowing smoke.
I originally flashed back to NCE to root my galaxy s5 (att) and installed safestrap. Then I used the extreme Debloat rom. Since then my Bluetooth and other things hadn't worked so I returned to stock. Months later now I'm having an issue with everything being really slow and when the phone goes to sleep it doesn't come back on without being reset. I need to send it back to Samsung but the custom icon is there and I can't take Ota updates. I have read the forums and none of the solutions helped. My Knox is still 0x0 so I'm good there.
I have tried:
Flashing to stock with Odin..... complete wipe
Triangle away
Something similar. Can't remember.
few other things I can't remember as its been a few months
Please don't flame me. I did indeed search and try the solutions
Again.
0x0 Knox
Custom lock icon at boot
It has been rerouted in case the solution requires root
On ANCE
Thanks for your help in advance!
Bump still haven't figured it out
Hi
I have an 920i Note 5. My usb is broken so I can't connect to the pc. I noticed that my phone never goes deep sleep. Always cpu sets in 400mhz. So, I tried to deactivate Google Account Sync, and some packages using the Package Disabler. The problem is that I cant fix it. Tried to clear cache, format data, etc. But the deep sleep never fixes. It uses more battery when it is with the screen turned off, that in the inverse way.
Somebody can give me any hint?
Thanks!

Have you rooted your device or Running stock from beginning? If your device is rooted already i.e to flash custom roms or kernels etc and now you have reverted back to stock thats why facing deep sleep issue theb here is solution by dr.ketan
**Your device must be rooted to use this deep sleep fix patch comes as .apk, it will not work on stock firmware without root as it needs supersu root access**

You have to root your device again and apply deep sleep fix if you want to overcome that issue..And original usb of Samsung is not that much expensive i.e you can't afford it..If your phone's usb port is broken then it might be costly..By the way once you rooted ypur device, knox get tripped and you will face huge battery drain after reverting back to stock..So the solution i have provided already..Refer suggested thread and you will come to know everything regarding rooting, deep slip..

Right, that's the problem. My USB port is broken. I have already bought the spare part, but it will take one month or more to arrive. So, now I have my note with no possible connection to PC so I can use Odin, to root and get the deep sleep issue fixed. There's no way to root without using Odin? Just my phone and Wi-Fi adb or something?

I didn't find any one click root method i.e. rooting without pc using apk like kingroot or kingoroot or one click root apk..But it depends on which version your running, if 5.0.1 then you might get rooted with apk and if 6.0.1 i don't think one click root is available..But still you can google it 'how to root Samsung galaxy note 5 running marshmallow without using pc'

Yes waiting is preferred rather than doing anything that will end up having dead piece of metal and glass...
So, recently i had a battery change. I upgraded to Nougat OS. Currently my device is unrooted with tripped knox.
Device Note 5 SM- N920G
My battery gets a 4% Device Idle and Screen 6% Usage.
Do I need to root it in order to get the Device Idle usage to decrease?
Please help. Thanks.
I attached a screenshot.
Should I factory reset my phone after recently just updating nougat?
Try installing an app that modify doze on nougat, like ForceDoze/Naptime. You could use it without root via adb or just root it since you already trip knox.
if ur Knox is tripped it keeps the phone awake even when u put it to sleep. I remember hearing this a while ago when other people tripped Knox but wanted to go back to stock. u may have to flash supersu or magisk or a custom kernel to fix it im not sure but i remember people said that was a solution to it.
Just do a factory reset after updating to Nougat...it is all it takes. It shouldn't eat up your battery more like Marshmallow did, it is very stable even on custom ROMs
