battery life - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any neat tricks to get some more battery life out of the S2? Compared to my old iPad it isn't that great. Is geeenify the best option or are there others?

I thought that was a part of geeenify. Will give it a go.

Turn off location and turn down display brightness. I get about 9 - 10 hours of screen time usage. A full day of standby maybe uses maybe 1%.
Edit: Also, see other thread suggesting that the Samsung keyboard eats battery in standby. I have not tested myself because I alway use Gboard because of the look and feel.

Doze, in addition to greenify helps out tremendously.

Try Package disabler pro,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro
that way you can disable *permanently* system apps like Google, Samsung spyware etc.

Battery's discharging very fast...

Hi,
I have CyanogenmodMod 10. I don't if it's normal but my battery is discharging faster than my Galaxy Ace. In my settings I saw that the screen is taking 78% of the battery. I don't know if that's normal.
How can I check if everything's normal ?
Thanks.
Use BetterBatteryStats - you can find it in the forum. Feel free to ask further questions regarding it.

What and where am I looking for exactly in this app ?
I suggest that you lower your screen brightness or set it to automatic so that the screen dims itself in night, you may also try out apps like Juice Defender, they also increase the battery backup by turning off the data when it's not in use !
Hope it helps !
And if I helped just press the Thanks button !
There is the link where I have upload a few screens of my battery usage : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/uoadq1vy8zzbbk9/B6mgZMMrCZ

Hey I suggest that you try to lower your screen brightness as I said before, also try to change your CPU frequency settings a bit. :good:
Yes I'll try that but I also want to know if there's something weird on my battery usage.
Thanks for your help.

There is nothing weird with your mobile, but the hard fact is that in terms of battery backup Android is a looser
And to thank me just press the thank you button !!!
Maybe it's the 3G (data).
I had an Galaxy Ace and the battery was much longer but I wasn't using 3G with my Galaxy Ace. I didn't expect that the 3G was so solicited by the battery.

as far as I know, cm10 drains a lot of battery, try to use lower brightness and try using a Battery saving program. I use Juice Defender on CM9 and it works great.

Based on the threads i was going through of Nexus 6P users, and Nougat has made the battery life terrible. Some people are saying battery life is great, but this issue is one of the most star rated issue on Android Bug Tracker. Check on google, you'll get the whole story.

Android 7.1 is ready and waiting to get released with the pixel phones, that version fixes battery and other bugs i think
I have 7.0 on my Nexus 6 and to be fair not very impressed with the new battery life, struggling to get nearly 4 hrs of light/medium usage.

Just normal usage man. Lots of Reddit (Relay), a bit of music (Google Play Music), texting, calling, etc.
I'm slightly underclocked using Boefla kernel with some tweaks and tuneables of my own. I don't game on my phone. I regularly get 6+ hours of SOT. My setup (for some reason) is so perfect right now that I refuse to update the kernel and/or Rom until I'm missing out on some very big changes.
Attached is my kernel and Rom version. (I believe rom is stock 3.2.6)

What's keeping my phone awake? (Screenshots)

I finally took the plunge and rooted. I've never had to in the past, but right now I'm trying to figure out what the hell is sucking up my battery.
Here's what I have so far: http://imgur.com/a/ki8bY
Having this scenario, what would you say chews away at my battery?
I think Spotify is at the top of the list because I was actually using it, so I don't think it is an issue. However, when I look at screen on time vs awake time, I see numerous occasions where the phone is awake without me using it.
That graph just shows us surface of the iceberg, use better battery stats
Or GSAM and/or Wakelock detector.
You would be getting a good estimate of what's eating your battery.

Mine is pretty good, stock 4.0.3+ElementalX kernel with default settings
i also have this issue its just android taking lots of battery and not letting the device sleep
I had the same issue, greenify and naptime solved it and i know drain 0.2% an hour overnight on 4. , Android's built in doze is still not good enough imo.

greenify root mode agressive doze eabled, naptime aggressive doze enabled. Not sure really of the benefit of having both as they seem to do the same thing but i saw better results using both, naptime doesn't mess with whatsapp but greenfiy would do so that leads me to believe they work differently.

Follow the instructions for Elemental X kernel tweaking and you should be getting between 6 to 10 hours of SOT time.

Thanks for the video.
However, I sort of agree with the first comment. You have a beast of a phone and you're underclocking it to achieve better battery life? Sounds strange :S
@Lancez What settings are you running on yours? Plain default as it comes out of the box?
I didn't bother with greenify anymore, I just enabled aggressive doze in the oneplus battery settings itself and it works similarly.

I get average like 7 hours of SOT with like 24-26 hours off charge....
maybe like <1% drain overnight
And I dont need to put my phone to charge over night anymore \o/ lol

Nothing special, ElementalX kernel with default settings, didn't tweak or change anything in aroma installer. disabled touch boost from CPU tab in EXM app from play store, try it it's worth the little money.

Does This Battery Life Look Bad?

So, I recently downloaded Android Oreo.
I did a factory reset and took screenshots of my battery activity today. I only had 2.5 hours of screen time (I keep my brightness at about 15% - 20%) and I barely used my phone while in my office.
I would like to keep Android System from running in the background, but when I turn it off, I find it back on following a phone restart...?
I have also found that none of my cache cleaners work anymore. Why is that?
Does this battery life look bad? I used to get better battery life.
2.5 hours with 50% left. Seems average.
I agree, about average. I haven't ran Oreo much, not more than a couple of days at a time & I don't have any screenshots but for me Oreo is worse in performance. Well statistically, with real world use I can't tell much of a difference.
So far I still like Nougat. I know I'm stating the obvious but everyone's usage & SOT will be different so some may say your stats are good, others may say not so good.
This is a typical weekday for me on Nougat. But I'm running a custom kernel & custom rom, no bloat & not a huge amount of apps installed. Display brightness 40% on average, display always set to max res. I First pair is today.
Now you got me curious, I should go back to Oreo & test. EDIT: Ok, I'm going back to Oreo right after this edit. I'll see how it does tomorrow.
Since Oreo update, I chose my word specifically , instead of upgrade. It appears standby idle battery is slightly improved.

So here's a typical weekday stat for me from today on Oreo. Took a hit in battery performance. But that's only 1 day of testing so not a fair comparison to my Nougat stat. Although I'm not a benchmark freak, benchmark results are pretty much the same if I use the appropiate kernel versions from the same dev.
Still not a fan of O although there are a few cool features, going back to N until all the compatibilites get worked out (getting closer though).
For me battery has gotten way worse. My phone goes from full to 90% in half hour of really light use

People will usually say, so I'll say it before, a clean install with a major change like N to O is usually recommended and I agree as most of the time it can take care of issues like this. But a clean install did not make a difference for me. Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Ah, that don't do me any good, I'm not the type to upgrade every year, not much of an upgrade anyway or worth it IMO. I'll wait for the Note 10, I think very good things will come for number 10. Hopefully a new custom kernel will fix it but until then, back to Nougat for me.
It seems to me since upgrading to O. My battery life seems poor. Dont know what they changed. O performs better on the pixel 2. Maybe I'm missing something. Who really knows.

Don't have issues with batt life. But I'm seriously considering reverting back to nougat on my TMO device. Just need to research the process properly before doing it.

Wow! I was eagerly expecting the oreo OTA, I even put a thread about oreo OTA experiences/opinions, but its a huge mixed bag, some say oreo improves fluency, other that have screen tint, batt drain, that no significant apparent changes, others that is snappier, etc, I have not rooted or pushed oreo firms, as I want to be very careful, because my 950F performs really very, very good, I am at a loss as of what to do when the OTA pops in my device, I am even considering to block it via bk

Battery stats.

I'd like some recommendations for the best battery stats app to monitor battery usage....yes I could have googled, but I'd like some personal recommendations and to hear what people are using on the note 9.
I've not rooted yet so as much as I don't mind hearing about apps with special root features, like wakelock blockers and stuff, that's not what I want right now (will in the near future though)
Just what's the best app to display detailed battery usage stats.
Try all the good ones. Some like one over the other. Me? I use gsam and accubattery. I need to try better battery stats as I have not in awhile. Heck they might not be around anymore. And don't forget some apps are different and some batteries do not have the comprehensive fuel gauges so milliamps might be calculated through software.
I use gsam , Accubattery pro and recently Better battery stats XDA edition. These three give me all the information that I need.

Hey just a quick one, are you using BBS with the permissions granted through the ADB commands? Just wanna make sure they're fine to use on the note 9 without causing any issues, I doubt they would do, but thought I'd check.
