I am trying to install the GB stock launcher on CM7 but if I install it from recovery using the package found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933517
I am getting boot loop and if I try to install the apk which is removed from within that package, I am getting "Application not installed" message. Does anybody know how to install it?
What is the best way to install the stock launcher? I know that there are some in the market but those does not appear to offer any sort of settings? (eg. change number of home screens etc.)
Install it from Market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ebproductions.android.launcher
That is not the stock launcher, that is a 'modded' stock launcher. I tested it actually and it works much slower and uses more memory compared to the stock launcher. Not to mention, it is crashing... everything started working again after I removed it from my phone. (it makes you wonder, what else might be modified and why it is called 'stock launcher' when it is not).
I removed Launcher2.apk from Bugless Beast (V. GPA19) Android 2.3.7 ROM and it works much better.
I just got my phone back from Motorola for warranty work. When I first got it I knew that I was going to be rooting it and loading a custom ROM but I decided to just install my sim and use it just to make calls for the time being. When I went through the initial setup and asked me if I want to restore my backup from previous backups. To my surprise I had a whole list of backups from when I first got my old phone a OnePlus and I was able to choose which apps I wanted to install. Well today I loaded Benzo ROM but after the initial setup it never asked me to restore a backup. Is there still a way I can restore one of my old backups or is this not a feature with Benzo ROM?
Am I missing something?
It could be that the gapps pack you installed didn't include Google's Setup wizard, if it didn't then the restore feature introduced in lollipop won't be available. Though I've noticed with that type of situation that opening the google play store will trigger it to download all the apps you used to have out of the blue for seemingly no reason. (like it did pre-lollipop)

So is there a solution to this? I always use the gapps provided on the ROM's thread page, is that always necessary?
Before I sent my Nexus back for warranty, I flashed CM 12.1 and it was able to restore a old backup. So where's the difference?
Using rom specific gapps are not required unless otherwise stated, I usually use Open-Gapps since I like their full Nexus pack and also their Aroma installer pack which allows you to set exactly what you want to install. Also if benzo rom has a feature request section you could ask them to include the feature in a future release.
The difference would probably be that CM 12.1 probably includes the setup wizard apk from google where benzo probably uses the aosp setup wizard which looks almost identical but is missing some "Google specific" features. This is my guess btw I'm not familiar with either gapps pack but I've noticed that not installing a gapps pack and setting up the phone on any rom aside from stock will result with it not giving the restore option.

Thanks. I'm not sure how long I'm going to run this rom I keep on getting app crashes. I just did the OTA update and installed the latest gapps and I'm still getting random crashes.
I have been having issues with systemUI force closing. I did everything as stated. I complete the weather setup and everything appears all fine. But whenever I do anything with the lock screen such as change the wallpaper, I get systemUI fc just for that moment. When I install wanam xposed and load my previous settings it fc everytime I try to place a call. I have never had an issue with any of the Ovrdrive roms until now. Ovrdrive has been doing an excellent job on these Roms and I appreciate it. Personally 5.7 was the last immaculate rom. Ever since 5.8 where he deviated from systemless thats when all this FC started happening. Help! Help! I would like to enjoy 6.0 but after 4 clean installs, I might have to just go back to 5.7. Help!
I believe u need to be using the default theme/status bar. Dont flash any mods until u are stable. Also, couldnt hurt to wipe everything, including intsd.
Nothing is more stable than Stock ROM with Stock kernel. so I've debloated stock ROM (Sept 2016 Updates) and added SuperSu to it. Result is stable and faster 295mb ROM
Changes made to MOB31E:
1. Removed Google Apps; for more space and less RAM usage.
2. @Chainfire's SuperSu added; No need to root; just flash the ROM.
3. Added Amaze file manager; Preloaded with root browser. Thanks to https://github.com/arpitkh96/AmazeFileManager
4. Added android browser (2mb); works like charm
5. Added E-mail app replacing G-mail; Gmail still works.
6. Replaced prebuilt keyboard app with another; No need to download language after fresh install.
see Screenshots attached;
Thanks to @Ali_Hasan, Pakistan for guidance ! :good:
Thanks to https://plus.google.com/+JosephGodslave for Stock ROM Zips.
Hope this will be useful

Which language do you use ? I think it's because I've deleted prebuilt Korean and hindi keyboard apps. I'll try to fix this. :good:
I replaced Google keyboard with Google keyboard. Different version. Old app needed to download language pack every time after reset or fresh install.
I tried your rom, it's clean and faster, thank you. But though you say supersu is included, still it says not rooted (supersu launcher is not present). I had to install supersu zip from the recovery. It worked
A stock rom without google play & google apps (Including google launcher, use CM launcher instead) and other apps or with pico gapps without any apps would be more leaner and faster, Let the user install the apps from the play store. I would appreciate if you try to make a barebone version with the above requirements
thank you

Haven't tried it yet, but it's safe to assume that this rom as same as stock rom, Cuz he removed the bloatware and its pre-rooted.
Flash a custom kernel and tweak it

Eww.
Just turn off your device and enter into recovery mode, wipe data / system /cache /dalvik cache except SD card & flash a rom.
That's the step to get rid off bootloop.
Or only wipe dalvik / Cache and try booting your device, if it's boots then you're good.
after I plug stock rom debloated why internal memory and sd card is unreadable please help me
rom not installing on spice dream uno ..stuck on installing in recovery
Hi
can you add galery apps in this debloated stock rom?
btw nice rom. thanks
Good try to present here this debloated rom, earlier i used almost all roms after then i was on snapshot for two months...but after flashing this i must say ..very smooth..
Just checked download link... So this won't work for sprout8?
So, had everything working as desired, received notification about the Nexus 6 7.1.1 update, installed it.
Re-rooted, re-added TWRP recovery, and all was back to normal.
Except the Pixel launcher. I forgot which version I was on, but everything worked as it should, swipe right, custom icon shapes, etc. It was previously installed as a system app (via root).
After updating to the 7.1.1 N8I11F build however the swipe right for pixel launcher would not work (expected). So, as I had done in the past I went to re-install Pixel launcher as a system app, however every .apk I tried returns corrupt message and will not install. Also, tried flashing an older package from recovery (TWRP) that would only cause the Pixel launcher to continuously crash. It is almost as if Google has blocked installing the Pixel launcher as a system app (for some odd reason). I am currently using one of the modded pixel launchers and all is working except for the custom icon shapes (I like to use teardrop).
So what I would like to know is if anyone has stock 7.1.1 N8I11F rooted with a Pixel launcher version that is fully working?? If so what version are you using, and how exactly were you able to install it?
TIA
