Is it possible to change the color/theme of the **drop down menu** (quick settings) of the Samsung S2 Tab 8 to dark?
I hate this snow white theme. Just yet another battery drainer.
Any updates regarding this?

Substratum isn't functional on samsung's tablets firmware.
Okay, wasn't going with Substratum.
What about swapping the system.ui ?
I think I finally found a solution,
http://teamblackedout.com/?page_id=273
It's a little intricate and you need a computer but once done, it works.
Anybody willing to tinker?

Does anyone have any idea when the official update will come?

Seems even many of the Samsung themes in the theme store do not fully support Pie. After finding a dark theme that I liked and that actually worked on Pie, I ended up just switching to the default theme and turning on night mode (you can't use night mode if you're using a theme). I did this because some elements were not impacted by the theme like they used to be in the past (the default email client specifically in my case).
I'm on at&t and still no update
Updated yesterday AT&T

No. Night Mode is not inverting the colors. Its a dark theme.

No, it only darkens some aspects of the UI for settings, notifications, and some of the stock apps such as the dialer, stock email app, etc. Even the content in those apps (for example a photo in the body of the email) are unaffected.

Guess I should have tried it before now, I just always assumed it would invert the photos too. Thanks for the answers! :good:

Works for me though I selected Pixel.
Updated to Pie just know, pretty dope!
Sent from my Note 9
Just got it today. Adaptive Battery is a good thing. Changing time from right to left is a stupid thing.
Recent Apps is now similar to iPhone - swipe away. Not as efficient as the old way where all the open apps were stacked, you could see them all at once, and you could quickly hit the X on each app you wanted to close.
Do they actually do any usability testing when they change things like this? Sheesh!
for all want black themes for emui9 i found one working good and themes all items
just install themes manager for huawei from playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deishelon.lab.huaweithememanager
and search for samsung one ui dark download it and apply it from the theme manager
it works very well
Unfortunatelly not. Try to get to any settings that requires second level user interaction (e.g. the fast mode choice when you connect the USB cable, or the choice whether the wallpaper applies to homescreen or lockscreen or both, and many others). You see the white text on white background in many cases. Quite anoying for regular usage in many situation.
Already reported in other similar topic as this yours.

Is there any way to make those changes in HV10. Every theme that I have tried has the same white on white pop up. Couldn't find code to edit it.. If any one knows how or where to find that option to make change please advise.
I found BLACK EMUI theme here:
https://theme.page.link/GAcELqio2oPMVZMT8
It looks very good for now. All is visible, no white text on white background. The only thing I didn't like is the font style, but you can change it manually.
After the 178 update, all the dark themes are working fine with white text on black background. Honor solved it.
I use Huawei Themes from google store, it's free. Thru it you can dl Porshe Style Dark theme which is compatible with Emui9 and it works perfectly for me.
I know I can't be the only one who can't read some notifications in direct sunlight now that the Pie / One UI update has "gifted" us with colored notification icons on the Always On Display (AOD). This article here shows the comparison I'm talking about, under the date on this AOD screen:
https://www.sammobile.com/2018/10/18/always-on-display-android-pie-update-samsung
The first picture has the MUCH easier to read white icons and the second has the awful colored ones. I use The Weather Channel app to see current temperature on the notification bar, and it switches between blue and red depending on the temp. It is a small number by design and when it is in color, it is HARD to read when there is any sort of ambient light around, IMPOSSIBLE to read when sunlight hits the screen!
I cannot find a single theme or setting on the phone to change those from colored icons to white. There are themes that show white icons but when loaded, Samsung's One UI takes over and colors them. I see the setting to change the color for the clock, and that too is not what I'm looking for. The color and date are both in white on the AMOLED black screen, I don't need colored notification icons, this should NOT be this difficult to figure out how to do! I'm using current version on my AT&T Note 9, no root. Thanks in advance if you can shed any light!
Same problem here...couldn't find a solution yet! Let me know if you get one, thanks!
I second this. I want simple B&W AOD like it was at the beginning. The coloured icons on AOD is a very bad idea.
Is there anyway to downgrade AOD app or apply a patch?
Please take a look at the attached pic - this looks awful, very cheap.
Thanks.
Also trying to find a solution to this...on the S10 it's even worse because there is no notification LED. And now the AOD icons are barely visible !
Since yesterday, i'm on CSDJ maisecurity Patch. But i dont have colored Icons on my AoD ? Also have no settings to activate or deactivate colored Icons. May Icons are grey/white like back in Oreo. So i ask myself, is this function maybe limited to specific devices ? Or are you guys on a higher Buildstring then CSDJ ?
*Edit* My (ex) Note 8 has this colored Icons too. But not for my Note 9.

I'm on CSE1 May 1st security patch, which (correct me if I'm wrong) is after CSDJ based on alphabetical order, and still have colored icons. Not sure the patch or software version made the difference, something else must have!

I'm on Galaxy S10 and the April update. I haven't update anything now since I'm traveling, will update on Friday when I get home. However a few days ago I update some apps and now my AOD icons are dark gray for some reason... Can't really see what it is and I have 20/20 sigh. Let's hope for a resolution to this.

Yes your String is higher than in my DBT. Maybe this is the reason why i have no colored Icons. Anyway this Build is absolute bad. Laggy performance on the whole Device. Rolling back on CSDE >.<
I disabled AOD becaus of this. It's stupidy that we can't customize it
Same here. So annoying! Basically Samsung support answered my question saying that for now you cannot change the color. Wouldn't hold my breath though.

yes, looks like a limitation of One UI, I had the same problem, but I use this app to make my own dark themes, is great and is free (you can donate as I did).
if you have any question I can help you, I've been using the app a lot.

Weird. For my is deep black. Maybe you need to adjust the options in theme galaxy. Or here is my project of theme galaxy which is pitch black. Tell me how it goes
Edit. I can't upload the project file. If you want it send me DM
The dark mode on my N950N is pitch black. Maybe it is your screen protector that needs cleaning
same problem here
N950F
Thanks, i was able to create a new theme file and now its pitch black..
I have attached the apk file i created, for anyones use if interested..
The project file if anyone needs it..
Note : rename it to *.project
Just a pet peeve of mine; the UI on Pixel 7 in dark mode isn't actually black, it's more like a grey or brown depending on what style you choose. Makes it look like an LCD not an OLED. I've attached 2 screenshots of app drawers to illustrate. One is from my Pixel 7 which isn't exactly black, and the other is of my Galaxy A53 which is pure black. Just looking to change that if possible.

I bought Nova Launcher Prime a couple years ago, may as well use it. But for what it's worth this option should come stock.

You are welcome to try this if you are stock-rooted. Flash in magisk app.
The drawback is that upon rebooting your phone, your phone relocks itself (not reboot). When you unlock it the second time, the mod takes affect. Without that post script, the phone would bootloop. This happens everytime you reboot your phone. Because of this, this mod is incompatible with the magisk module that is a "bootloop protector" as it sees this mod as bootlooping instead of relocking and disables the mod. This mod is using cool_modules installer from here:

I tweaked it to use with Pixel Launcher.
To get your settings background black, you go to settings/ display/display theme and choose stock-black.
Might be worth a shot.
Also repainter app has this feature.
The reason why the color of the dark theme is not black but something similar to gray is because when you move white text on a completely black background, an annoying color plot is perceived due to the delay that the screen pixels have. OLED to go from completely off to on, and it is precisely here where the grays fulfill a very important task, since they generate a contrast that "hides" the phenomenon described above.

So Google is using inferior OLED panels? I find my A53 has a much nicer screen & no issues with text in black background scrolling.
I mean, look at the fingerprint. I don't understand how this is a "Flagship" UI. My A53 is slower for sure, but the UI has nice blur effects, pure black backgrounds, the fingerprint isn't an icon; it's a pure white translucent fingerprint. I just expected better. I don't feel like rooting it and bending over backwards to get it to look decent. I put it up for sale and no one wants it. Will trade it in at Best buy for a discount on a Samsung. The pixel 7 takes great pictures, it's fast, but the battery life is mediocre and The UI is too bland for me; it's washed out.
