Has anyone experienced the following:
I have tried several different ROMS. After I flash the ROM things go really well. All is working, running fast and then after 24 to 36 hours my device just gets so bogged down that it takes a long time to do anything. Any program I launch will easily take at least 30 seconds to launch if it launches at all. If i soft reset it does nothing for the problem. I have changed batteries to see if that helped (of course it didnt nor did I expect it too). All that fixes it is another hard reset.
Does this sound like an issue i need to send the phone into HTC for? Possible hardware issue? Could a bad SD Card cause something like that? HARD SPL? Anyone else been through this? thanks in advance guys/gals

Have you used cooked and shipped roms too?
If you have not tried, try to flash a shipped rom and see how goes. If it will go well then try to reflash with your preferred cooked one.
If you have already tried a shipped one, I don't know, it's a little strange. If you thik to have a bad SD card, try to use the pda without it. But I don't think it can cause all the things you have written.
I had a similler issue and a clear storage solved it.
after flashing your HD or any other pocket pc with cocked or original ROM, it always recommend it to do a cealr storage from settings-->systems--> clear storage.
do a clear storage and i am sure your issue will dissapear.
good luck

What do you mean with "major problems"?
What you described is really weird.
I flash too all the time, but the HD never gets slow.
Is clear storage for your SD card then?

when i tried to copy stuff from my card onto my pc to back up the data it kep freezing up on my pc and became unreadable. i would have to take the card out and start again. Eventually i just formatted it and now it works great. No clear storage doesnt appear to be for the storage card but I tried it. I had so much stuff on my SD card that im sure my HD was trying to run programs and since my SD card was unreadable it was killing the device.
I had a similar problem, and I was forced to format my SD card too. Luckily I was able to save 95% of contents before to lose everything .I experienced some folders became unreadable (unaccessible), and card was full of "strange" folders with unreadable characthers and improbable sizes (I thought I had some terabyte ).
I think stock microsd isn't the best... Simply I must remember to backup it more often
Exactly like mallman, formatting solved the problem

Well the only difference is that my problem came back this morning which was after formatting yesterday. I have determined my card is bad so I swapped it out for a new card and we will see how that goes. If my device is having the problem and i just take the card out my device runs like a champ, pop it back in and slooooow I agree, I will get my card on a regular backup schedule very soon. Well, once my ned 16gb gets here. This 8 gig is just too small lol
I ran into a problem like yours when using WAD 2 on my Polaris with particular cooked ROMS that seemed to have a SD card problem....see post on Lakeridge here where someone pointed out to me where the problem was coming from http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14568&highlight=WAD+storage , the only way I fixed the problem was flashing to a different ROM.

checking it out now. I can tel lyou that this has to be the porblem because of course my 8gb card wasnt the solution because my device is dog slow AGAIN lol
edit: ok i will try a new rom and see. I have had this problem with Dutty's and Dav, if it happens to a third rom I will try th estock ROM and if it happens there I am spellbounded
HD is not slow. If yours takes 30 seconds to respond, something is wrong. I would take a look at the SD card. I used to have this problem in my Athena, causing constant freezes and soft reset. When I did a sktools benchmarking, it was clear that the unit was reading and writing to the card extremely slowly. I reformatted the card with incorrect parameter causing that problem. After reformatting with the formating parameter, my Athena resume the nomal fast response.

Check out Johnpatcher's barebone ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=472972. I find it runs excellent but you'll need to archive CABs of your favorite programs. The performance I think is great, commented about that in the thread too (WAD 2 on the ROM), I have like 70% - 65% free memory all day.
ok testing touch of HD with WAD2 to see if I can replicate teh problem. (fingers crossed)

I had it running on Laurentis's ROM too without a problem. Shame he seems to have left. But i do really recomend the barebones ROM, at first boot it only used 10% mem.
Anyway, hope it works for you and keep those theme's coming

well i never had a problem with the shipped rom and WAD2. I can confirm that touch of HD rom also shows the same problem. I can try the barebones rom and see what happens then if it doesnt work i am going back to shipped rom because nothign beats WAD2 (in my humble opinion)
and ps. i have tried multiple SD cards so i confirmed that isnt the problem

Maybe you might want to PM those cookers to let them know about the bug, it was prevalent on many Polaris ROMS too for some time. Good luck, the barebones ROM hasn't had any problems so far, its fast and very responsive but lacks the bells and whistles of the bigger ROMS.
Now that you are speaking of, I can confirm I was using WAD2 (the trial, I don't think is important...) when I had the problem.
I'm currently NOT using at the moment because too many problems still with TF3D and no more problem with microSD card.
At this point I think I'll wait a little before to try again
I too would like to use WAD!
just wanted to report back so far so good with the stock ROM. Ive rebooted and done all kinds of things that typically kill it with the cooked ROMs.
strange story!!

Well just for everyone's knowledge, still no problems with stock ROM so I am willing to say problem solved. I cant run a cooked ROM and expect to use WAD2 I will start PM'ing all the cooks I see tomorrow and letting them know this and maybe they know of a fix. Thanks for all the help everyone
this started happening randomly about 2 weeks ago now
I've tried 3 different roms, but the problem still exists
it first started happening when i had the eneryrom flashed
but now i believe its not the roms thats causing this, i think its the hardware in my x1 or something, im not sure
what can i do to fix this?
basically my x1 restarts by it self, randomly at random times
maybe every other day, and sometimes even twice in a day
its really weird and not looking good at all
any help is appreciated, i just want to fix this

Did you install any kind of softwares or applications? Could be due to an unstable application
Also, does it restart when you are using it or doing something on your phone? or does it just restart while sitting on the table?
If it just restarts when the phone is in your pocket while walking/running (when u r not using it), then it could be possible that your battery is loose.
Check to see if you battery fits perfectly. stick in a folded small piece of paper at one of the bottom side of the battery to tighten the battery if your battery is loose.
Let me know if this is the case.
I would suggest flashing back to stock rom and see if the problem still exists....sd card could be a factor also...

This has happened to me in the past when using an HTC Touch Diamond. I think it has something to do with not wiping the device or doing a hard reset before flashing a new rom. Does it hard reset when the phone restarts?

reflash your stock rom.. if your phone is not functioning as normal, then i suggest to check with SE
I would download the ROM and re-flash your phone. Could be possible that the download got corrupted. Wouldn't hurt.

i would like to know if Ia m the only one, experiencing constant restarts on the phone, almost every single day and more than once.
hmm sounds like you have some sort of software issue, reflash the software and see if you get this issue again. I've had the phone 2 weeks now and had no weird restarts or anomalies, check my sig it shows what firmware on.

Well I thought I was the only one, but it seems in android central people are reporting random shutdowns, please let me know if this is a widespread issue, because they also said they dont have an SD card to wipe, so it seems it's not the card causing the problem, but certaintly the same thing is happening to me.
I having these issues also, i have left a message on sony facebook page. This is starting to piss me off for a $1000 phone it is not good enough. It is also corrupting my files on the phone
Wow that is definitely not acceptable, Im leaning to switch back to the HTC One, but still debating, depends to see how many are having this issue.
if anybody knows let me know if this a known issue or if is affecting only a small portion of the phones thanks

HERE YOU GO MY FRND
All users who are facing this problem... i have solved it.. the prob is with android 4.0+ onwards... do not pop in mem cards from other fone directly...
take your memory card out and copy the entire card data on hard drive and then format the card in pc with default settings. then switchoff the fone and put the card in it... it will take smtime to initialize the card at first run. have patience and let it create the suitable folders... the data u looking forward to copy is pics, vids and music files... rest stuff is there on ur fone and it will stop rebooting. DO NOT FORMAT THE CARD FROM WITHIN THE FONE... it has been seen that with android 4.0+ they do not format flawlessly....enjoy and ur rebooting problem will b over...
I have the same problem. My Z1 restarts several times a day. 10 times just today.
I don't have a sd card in the phone, and I never had any sd card. So that can't be my problem.
I don't see any pattern in when it restarts. I can be browsing the web, checking facebook, playing games. Or when the phone just lays on the table. Charging or not charging.
One thing I have seen is that right before it restart the cell signal is gone and there is a sim card icon in the notification bar.
I'm switching cell provider in 2 days, so I will see if it gets any better with a new sim card.

well that doesnt seem a solution for me, I tried what he said and didnt fix my problem the shutdowns happen quite often, I might have to look at a stable device, I may look at the incoming nexus 5, I do like the Timescape UI, but restarting a couple of times a day I cannot agree to that, I had it happen when a call comes in, so it is a problem, because people think I hang up on them.
I got my new sim card and the phone haven't restarted once!
So it looks like my problem is solved.
The difference between my old and new provider is that my old (OneCall in Norway) is renting net from Telenor and the phone is roaming most of the time.
My new provider (Netcom) has its on cell phone net.
If you have the same problem you could try with a new sim card, or use the phone without a sim card for a day.
I've this problem too. I don't have an sd card in my phone and I didn't move any old files from another phone. I've been getting a random reboots per day in the last 3 days. I love this phone but I'm not sure if I need to return it. It is unacceptable.
Hi people,
I have some troubles with my battery life, it drains like madness since 4.2.2 update and the phone seems to overheating, i've first tried with the NUT ROM cause i need root but i've experienced the same problem so i've flashed with a official stock rom 4.2.2 ftf file but i've still have the same problem.
What's going on with this update!
It's really painfull to use it even while it's charging!

Try to stop the services and clean data to force a new refresh. If you spend your day listening to music or videos than it should be normal but I suspect if it was the case you're not asking for help here.

Factory reset and wipe contents on SD card, then repair through PC companion. Problem solved.
BTW, google has changed the way things work with KK regarding SD card storage. To solve your problems you need to start off fresh and then let KK sort out the file structure for you. The old way had security risks, its changed now so your folder structure is bad on your SD card. Sort that out, then you will have great battery life (better than Jelly Bean)

Did you restore? If you did then that's your problem. Need to start off clean again. You can use PC companion to restore your images and songs and whatnot (through the media app) but DON'T restore! You're just restoring the same broken file structure all over again!
EDIT: Also did you repair your phone through PCC? That step is important! Because it will install KK properly to your device. I know this sounds like a mission mixed in with a bit of [email protected] Sony rants Blah, Blah, blah.. but trust me it works!
Also you cant blame Sony because this problem is a KK specific issue regarding storage (although this should have been implemented in Android right from Eclair!)
So to break it down:
1) Wipe phone and SD from -> the menu setting
2) Repair phone in PCC
3) Screw your saved games and app data and restore only whats important, eg: music, movies and pictures
4) Boom, done!

Before restoring i have a question, i need the root for some specific app like SCR that why 'im using the NUT ROM, restoring the phone will eras the ROM and i'll lost the root, but did that will solve my problem? I mean i can reflash the NUT ROM again and the problem wont appear?
I've already tried to flash from the official stock ROM and the problem was still here so i REALLY doubt that PCC will solve it...

Maybe a dev can make a fix on the major issues of kk, if no battery issues, its a start!!
I had the same battery drain issue caused by the "mediaserver" process.
I did a factory reset, it went away for a couple of days, and then returned.
When I was about to format my sd card, I realized it was defected, and turned into read-only (I don't know if it was caused by the phone). I couldn't delete anything or format it.
I went and bought a new 64gb microsd card, copied just the music and photos from the old one (without all the android files), and the phone was fine for a day, with normal battery.
Then, after a day, it started draining the battery again, and again because of the "mediaserver" process. I don't know what I can do anymore besides just remove the sd card and remain with the internal memory. This kitkat update is just abysmal. I am highly disappointed with Sony for releasing such a buggy software update.
You might want to try an app called BatteryGuru for Snapdragon. Works quite well.

I've simply disabled high dormancy and that fixed definitively my problem.

What do you mean with "high dormancy"?
I'm having overheating problems too with 4.4.4 and I want to get rid of it.. do you still have problems with the phone like getting warm after 5-10 minutes? If not please explain what you did xD.
Hello Guys, I have an Xperia Z1 with lollipop 5.1.1. It recently has started to heat up very fast and the performance is also not as good as before. Can anybody please tell me till what temperature is it okay for the phone to go and any solution to the problem which really works. Thanks in advance

hi, max temp for z1 may be till 50 degrees celcius, you can search on the net about it and dont worry, your phone will auto shutdown when reach max temp.
to fix this problem you can disable app not use or debloat ur rom.
Thanks for the reply. I am getting some lags recently because of the phone getting hot. And please tell me what do you mean by debloating of rom

Don't worry about your phone temperature everything's fine the phone is built to resist.
The easiest explanation of debloating is "Removing useless apps from your phone"
(that will probably be installed from your vendor and cannot be removed-uninstalled)

Hi,
My Z1 only ever got really warm (I wouldn't say it was overheating) when it was syncing Google photos, i.e. backing them up, or rechecking after a reset. or when my memory card got a bit corrupted (was a bad memory card.)
I found that reformatting the memory card in my phone, after backing up whatever I wanted to keep, stopped it from getting warm again. From what I've read, I think the media scanner was having problems getting 'past' the corruption/s.
If you have a memory card, back it up onto a computer, format the card in your phone, using your phone to do so, then copy back whatever media and files you want. This really worked for me. If you don't have an SD card, then backup whatever you want from your phone, and do a full wipe, including internal memory by factory resetting it. Restart it, and let it settle. It will get warm on reboot, and after you sign in, while it's resyncing everything, but it should then settle down.
Sometimes I found that Google services would be going nuts too, reason really unknown, but it used to do it once in a while, and the phone would get pretty warm. I don't know if this was something Google was upto, or if it was related to the SD card issue.
All in all, my Z1 was pretty well behaved, especially when you compare it to how hot the later phones can get, like the Z5. You can almost fry eggs on that at times lol.
Thank you all I will definitely try to debloat my rom but is it okay for the device to go till 45°C only when you are just browsing. And it shows a lot of lags - even if you write a message it will hang in between.
And I would also like to mention that I have just got my screen replaced and is it possible that if the guy who did it might have messed up and thats why my phone is overheating?
try to clean install latest version
this should fix this issue,
or use custom roms , they are already debloated and include fixes.

maybe im wrong but i dont think it is related to the heating, most of the heat come from the cpu
but does your screen heat up or the back of your phone?
Both the screen and the back heat up pretty fast

so try to clean install latest stock rom to check if it is a software issue or not.
clean install means to wipe everything in phone(no need to wipe internal data but if you do it is better)
and install stock rom using flashtools
if your phone still warm up, then it is probably a hardware issue
P.S: use your new rom for hours, at first maybe it heat up,
