New R1-HD owner looking to confirm before modifying . . . - BLU R1 HD Questions & Answers

Just purchased a used / refurb R1-HD from Amazon. I've read a lot here on the forum, and want to verify my plan to avoid any mistakes.
The unit is currently at BLU_R0010UU_V6.4_GENERIC 10-07-2016 00:10
1) root the device : https://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/how-to/twrp-how-to-root-t3425677
2) install bootloader: https://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/how-to/unlock-tool-t3561333
-OR-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/development/r1-hd-amazon-bootloader-unlock-method-t3426104
3) go BLU : BLU_R0010UU_V8.3_GENERIC_6.0_20170414-2043
https://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/how-to/software-update-version-blur0010uuv8-t3599920
Do I have the correct steps in the correct order?
For step 2 - is there any advantage to either option?
Thanks in advance for you anticipated guidance.

4. is there other way to make the battery last longer?
5. and when will kitkat upgrade available to zenfone 4?
6. any unrooting guide here?
i just want to upgrade first my z4 before i root it.
THANKS anyone who will give me the answer
@yodaryll94
hi.
Here's "How to Root ASUS Zenfone 4" (I don't know in case device can be unrooted after rooted from method from the link).
1. is it easy to root z4?
-- Yes, In case you read(know what you are doing) and follow carefully. In short, not impossible.
2. like no problem in rooting my phone?
-- I don't think any dev take responsibility for any type of device damage after following his/her instructions. But mostly damages not happen. so always make sure by reading comments, possible that someone have replied success message.
3. once i root my z4, is there a recommended bloatware list i can freeze?
-- "Recommended", yep maybe in case someone have made list. but in simple, things you don't use and are not part of official firmware and by removing them it does not effect device OS. then it's fine to stop them or lock them from being loading in startup/boot or completely uninstalling them. there are apps to make this work easy. (i'm not recommending anything, just sharing for idea.)
4. is there other way to make the battery last longer?
-- Yes. there are threads on this platform.
5. and when will kitkat upgrade available to zenfone 4?
-- I don't know in case there will be Official upgrades or not. But maybe there are Custom ROMs on internet.
6. any unrooting guide here?
-- already answered. Other than last answer regarding this question, there are ways to unroot device with different tools type. but not sure about method of which i posted link above.
i just want to upgrade first my z4 before i root it.
-- I think there is option for upgrade/update in Phone setting "About phone" and in case upgrade/update is available then it will be Official.
Advice: Do not try anything on your device Until you know what you are doing. always make full Backup of your device before doing stuff like "Root/CWM(Custom Recovery/Custom ROM). don't take my answers as perfect, make more search, wait for more replies.... until you get enough information and are sure that you understood well, what you learned etc....
hope, answers helped you a little.

Question About Rooting Google Nexus 6

Hello,
Since I did not see very many threads related to rooting the Google Nexus 6, I figured I had better post a question before attempting this. Is there any reasons why there a few threads about rooting the Google Nexus 6? I recently purchased the Nexus 6 in anticipation for Project Fi (not yet received approval) and would like to root my phone which has the following settings:
- Android Version = 5.1.1
- Build LMY48I
- Kernal version 3.10.40-geec2459
- Baseband version = MDM9625_104446.01.02.101R
The only link I find on Google related to rooting my specific build number is:
http://trueandroid.com/how-to-root-nexus-6-on-official-android-5-1-1-lollipop-lmy48i/
Thanks in advance!

tberes only a few threads on rooting a nexus because all nexus are rooted the same way. ill go over quickly what needs to be done..
1. unlock the bootloader using fastboot while you are in your bootloader.
2. fastboot flash twrp recovery.
3. dlash the latest supersu in your new twrp recovery.
4. reboot with root.
theres always ways to gain root using root toolboxes as well, but i dont ever recommend using one for a first time rooter. they do root your device, but they are not quicker, and they mess up often. problem is if it messes up, you will think that your device is bricked, because you dont learn anything using a root toolbox. by rooting properly, you learn to fix things yourself as well.

Thank you for this... that explained the lack of threads. Is there a recommended like on this forum that explains the root method for Nexus devices?

If this is your question, then you are probably not ready to root just yet, anyway. You should always research before rooting anything. A lack of doing research before rooting any phone is good way to brick phones. A simple search will easily answer your question(s) about rooting this phone.
How to root the AT&T Galaxy S5 Marshmellow
Step 1. Stop Creating posts about the same topic
Step 2. Stop creating topics about anything without searching first
Step 3. Get a phone that can be rooted
Step 4. No stop. This phone can't be rooted for the forseeable future and much development interest in it has died.
Step 5. Go back to step 3

I DONT SAY HELP ME TO YOU AND WHAT YOUR PROBLEM WITH ME WTF !! IF YOU DONT WANT TO HELP ME OR YOU WANT TO INSULT ME JUST EXIT THIS TOPIC
The issue is that you have a couple topics on how to root this phone, if it has lollipop or marshmallow, it can not be rooted. Searching for this instead of creating 2 posts about it would have prevented the sarcastic answer. This phone is old and developers have moved on to newer phones.

Which guide will work to remove everything Amazon including ads?

Hey, could someone please provide a direct link to a guide that will flash a stock ROM without the Amazon apps so none of those, no Amazon signing in like a regular stock Android phone without Amazon apps/ads so everything Amazon will be removed? I mean is that even possible? I see guides here and there in a Google search to remove ads but what about everything else involving Amazon? Thanks.
Model number is R1 HD
Android verizon is 6.0
Build number is MRA58K

All you need is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/how-to/unlock-tool-t3561333 ...read carefully and do it step by step, there is no way to mistake. I sell this phone debloated in my country and just need 15 minutes to do it. :good:
Thank you so much!!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5? I get no such screens on neither my laptop or even my phone.
Yes, the phone is connected in adb devices
Yes, the phone is connected in fastboot devices
Once I did a reboot and there are no screens at all explaining what to do. In that case and I had no choice but to hold the power and boot my phone up as normal.
Sorry wrong place for question
Can anyone please respond to my post #4?
MRA58K is 8.4. I dont think this works on 8.4.
Is there one that works on MRA58K?

MRA58K is just Android version 6.0
But if your phone is on official Blu version 8.4 then the debloat tools we currently have will not work, you can't root or unlock bootloader.
As an answer to your post #4. I do not understand your situation.
I do not know the Blu version.
But this is the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H...e=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ST06PCCEXZ27FZ3QJTZ9&th=1

Ok should work for you then.
Can you maybe describe what you are doing, when you say you don't have a screen?
I downloaded the ABD+FASTBOOT tool
I downloaded the V_11
I followed all instructions and with that V_11 and I went through with all Y for Yes
And I do not get any screens to do those 5 step instructions.

Sorry I still do not know what you mean. The unlock tool does not have options to answer "Y"
I just seen the ADB was the tool that has the options.
The V_11 tool did not have those options but the V_11 tool did not do anything for me. It told in the instructions that there might be I need to press something on the phone but that was the only help. There was no additional screens that came up to help me with the unlock. Was the V_11 tool is not the tool I needed?
BTW, will this guide even remove all Amazon ads and Amazon apps?

This tool is used to
1. unlock bootloader
2. Install custom recovery
3. Install SuperSU (root)
4. Optional scripts are included to remove bloat, like Amazon
(These numbers are not same as numbered steps in the tool)
Perhaps the V_11 is not the tool to download? Than which tool was I suppose to download?

It's the only tool we have for R1-HD
You need to either need to be rooted or have recovery with root privelidge to remove system apps
So if you are trying to remove Amazon stuff and ads, you need to start with unlocking bootloader, so you can install recovery.
Unless you are trying to do something else?

Need help: Fingerprint changing and updating the firmware to latest one

I have been using the ROG2 phone for quite a while now and used to brick it in the past.
Therefore, I am very careful about what I am doing right now in order to avoid that same mistake at all cost....So here I would like to ask the following questions from you guys here.
1. My phone is currently running WW_16.0631.1910.35_0 but both Product and Fingerprint accessing via Device Info HW show that I am current on CN version at the moment.
2. My bootloader is currently Lock I think... As I checked through ADB mode and it is mentioned "False" on the bootloader section.
3. I did try the following method without luck...
This one give me nothing at the point where I need to edit the CN > WW via Root explorer as I did not root my phone at the moment.
- The method using ADB and Ultra Edit also does not work with me as I am not able to get the "persist" file with any data...Always comes out as 0 byte and therefore, I could not use that file to edit.
By the way, do I need to factory reset in order to do this?
Any suggestion or any link I need to follow?
Thank you!!

You need to unlock bootloader (step 0 in the guide) which will wipe your device. As you are already on 1910.35 you can skip steps 1 and 2. But you must follow the rest of the steps, at least until 8 to complete the change to WW fingerprint, thus includes rooting the device as you require root to change fingerprint. If you want to keep root you can stop there. If you don't want root, complete the other steps
Thanks for your reply and I will try again following your suggestion
