Has anyone else had a problem with S2 charging slowly and/or the battery failing completely?
The day before Samsung pushed out Nougat my S2 9.7" began charging REALLY slowly - and now it barely at all. It's been on the factory charger & cable for about 20 hours now and it only made it to 6%
I've tested the charger & cable and found the tablet is only pulling about 0.14 amps.
When I put my other S2 8.0 on it it immediately it pulls about 1.75 amps.
I've tried many different chargers/cables/power outlets with no luck.
Contacted Samsung who's only reply was "your warranty ran out 5 weeks ago so we won't fix it"
No suggestions for where I might get it repaired & no offer to fix it with me paying the costs.
I REALLY love this tablet but now it's little more than a $400 paperweight.
Has anyone heard of this or how to replace the battery (which I assume is dead)????
It's the update..

Hey guys,
I only got my Note 5 a few weeks ago and I've had issues with charging being inconsistent (even when battery is less than 20%). However an issue popped up last night now that I hope is a fluke. I let the phone charge overnight, and when I woke up this morning the phone never charged past 83%! What the... I'm hoping that after I charge tonight it'll go past 83% but any ideas on what could be cause thing? This is a nice phone but it doesn't speak well of their Quality Control that all these issues pop up. I never had any issue with my Nexus 5 and that phone cost less than half of the MSRP on this phone!
this is a battery defect.. Take your Note5 to the samsung service centre.. Im sure this will get covered in your warranty..
So about 6 months ago I swapped the midframe and back on my N6 for the Moto X Pro ones. While I had the phone apart I replaced the battery. My original battery was still functioning fine but I figured since the phone's already torn down, why not replace it? My plan is to keep this phone until the 2016 Nexus is available. So I wanted to be sure that the phone would be problem-free until then.
I got the new battery off eBay from one of the many Chinese electronics retailers for around $15. It was sold as a Motorola OEM battery. When it arrived it looked identical to the original one out of my phone. Installed it, charged it up and went about my business. About 2 weeks later the phone e starts ****ting down suddenly. At first it would do it somewhere between 20%-30% on the battery meter. Then it progressed to shutting down at 50%-60%. Finally it would last only 10 minutes after taking it off the charger (at 100%) before shutting down suddenly. When it would do this, there wasn't the "shutting down" animation you would normally get from running out of juice. It would just go black.
So I deduced it was a junk battery and ordered another one. This time, I ordered one from a place here in the U.S. It was more expensive but not by much (around $30 I think). It arrives, I install it, works great for a month, then starts shutting down suddenly just like the eBay battery. It's at the "only lasts for 10 minutes off the charger" stage right now. So that's battery #2 that's suffered the same fate.
I have battery #3 on the way and it should arrive on Monday. Ordered from another U.S. retailer. Spoke to them on the phone and was assured that it's a brand new, OEM Motorola EZ30 battery. So we'll see how this one works.
At first I was sure I had just received a bum battery. But after the 2nd one had the exact same problem in such a short amount of time.e I can't help but wonder if it's something else causing the failure. 90% of the time I charge the phone via USB and the wall charger that came with the phone. The other 10% of the time it's charged via USB and my old GS4 wall charger. Would using a different charger cause battery failures? I had used the GS4 charger with the original battery that came with the phone and had no problems. Also, for a couple months, I had used a Cheotech 3-coil wireless charger. But I didn't like how long it took to charge so I quit using it. I used it for about 2 months on the original battery and the 2 weeks of the first replacement battery's short life. I haven't used it on the 2nd replacement battery at all as I was trying to see if that may have been the cause of the 1st failure. Can using a different charger damage the battery in such a short period of time?
Is there anything else I can look for before putting in battery #3? Like I said I'm hoping to keep checking this thing alive and kicking until this fall when the new Nexus is released.
Thanks.

Your batteries (#1 and #2) were not damaged by your usage pattern. They were bad quality period. And now you are paranoid about that. Those two batteries being bad does not surprise me at all because the inherent longevity of a battery is closely related to how well controlled the manufacturing process is, and we know how well that process is controlled for Chinese cheap batteries.
Modern batteries and chargers are built in a way that make them relatively immune to user abuse. Your battery lives for a certain number of charges and discharges. For a good battery from a reputable manufacturer that is around 500 to 1500 times. There is also a second order effect that if you recharge the battery before it completely dies it lives marginally longer. That is about it. The stuff you mentioned didn't cause your batteries to die. The poor manufacturing condition in a sweat shop in China did.
I think you also shouldn't use turbo charger with these batteries.

The battery's microprocessor regulates the charge and is designed to prevent damage to the battery. Thus this statement is ridiculous. Especially since all turbo charge does is allow more energy to be transferred to the battery in a given unit of time than with a standard charge.

okay. Its my bad then. But i always notice that my phone heats up more when i use turbo charger. And heat is never good for these batteries.
The amount of heat generated on charging does not significantly impact battery life when compared to something like doing a deep discharge. I wouldn't worry too much about the heat. The battery can handle it.

I see thanks for clearing things up. I saw those videos and images of nexus 6 with all those popped batteries and back covers. I have been afraid of its heating up since then. So i can use it without worrying about its battery and back cover?
I've had my Nexus 6 since the beginning of the year and have had no problems with it whatsoever. While there is no guarantee you won't encounter a problem, if your Nexus is relatively recent like mine you shouldn't have any issues.
Ok, I have been dealing with this issue and trouble shooting every which way but loose. I am getting this message every time I try to charge my phone. "Unable to charge your device, make sure you are using a samsung-compatable battery and charger, and that your device is properly connected to the charger." The device is almost 2 years old so it is out of warranty, I called samsung and sent it in at my own expense and they marked it "BER" (Beyond Economical repair) because I had rooted it, I didn't install my own rom I just simply tripped Knox so samsung refused to work on it. Very disappointing. I have now set out to fix it on my own.
OEM Battery: Check
OEM Charger: Check
Properly Plugged in: Check
I have tried multiple different fixes, factory reset didn't work, so I flashed Cyanogen 12.1, Rapture, and Dr. Keton ROMs to see if it was a software issue, NOPE. (P.S. Rapture is my favorite)
So I ordered a wireless charger so see if it was the charger port, NOPE.
Then I ordered a external battery charger and 2 other batteries so I could at least play around with it. SO I have determined it is not the Charger port, Software, or Bad Battery.
2 weeks Prior to this problem occurring the bluetooth flat out quit working. So I am now considering getting a new motherboard but this requires a lot of work I would rather not do if there are any other suggestion at this point I would love to hear them before I pull the trigger and buy a 150$ motherboard, If it honestly comes to that I might just sell the phone for parts, I bought an s7, but I loved my note 4. I would prefer to go back to it cause I like the battery life on the note 4 but LOVE the camera on the s7. Any way, Any Ideals would be fantastic, thanks.
I had an international note 3 that used to say that. I think you may have to use a power source for which that perticular phone was designed for.... just an idea... If i recall i could slowly charge it using a car charger but not a wall charger. I dont know why though i sold it on craigslist before i found the answer.
I also had a similar problem with a regular domestic note 3. Turns out my baby stuck my phone in her mouth and her spit corroded the terminals. So the phone just wouldnt charge. Was a pretty easy fix for like 10 bucks for a whole new charging port. Did you maybe drop your phone and dislocate the flex cable from your board? http://youtu.be/OYBWT1yfilc
Doesnt seem toooo difficult to fix but if it were me id just swap out batteries
Guys I've a very big problem with my nexus 6, please see and respond with whatever solution you could think of, it'd really be very helpful to me.
Also sorry to write so long message, I've just given my entire issue in detail for some help.
I urgently need help please from someone experienced with this problem(if possible)
I'm having this really weird problem and I've no idea if there's any solution available online.
From past few months, whatever charger I'm putting in it, it's just not working ever again. It takes time, but after like 1-2 weeks the cable just doesn't work.
*I've recently observed that the cable goes something like, first it's charging*around 700mA(on a 1A charger), then after some days it was averaging 500mA(and the charging time increased too), now it's between 100-250mA(and charging time of atleast 6 hours), and finally after few days it'll stop charging.
I can assure that all cables and adapters I used were original(the first one to stop working like this was the original cable which came with this phone), there is no problem in them as I've regularly changed these and whenever I test in some other phone, the cable works until the time Nexus 6 permanently stops the cable.
It has happened to over 5 charging cables now, all this time I thought that it happened because of one charger, but now I think it's because of the phone. Please tell me what to do asap as I don't want to waste more wires on this. I'm losing a lot of money now. I'm unable to sleep at nights over this issue.
I told this issue to service centre, the person over there was surprised that a wire can be damaged too like this, and said I'll be charged ₹200 for checking(which moto customer care says there isn't any charge), I thought of getting it repaired somewhere else, but other people are suggesting me to change cable. I can keep changing but it'll cost me more and I'll have to keep doing this for next 2-3 years. I just need a permanent solution.
I live in Mumbai, India and bought the phone from Flipkart, and also it's out of warranty.
Also I can't find solution to this anywhere in Google, I just need help in determining the exact issue as it is unheard of so I can decide how to proceed to repair(if it's costly then I might not) or give me suggestions.

Probably you battery is dying.
A common problem for all smartphones after 1/2 years of use,
The Nexus 6 can be charged wirelessly; it's slow but good for the battery.
Buy a cheap QI-pad and charge the battery wireless.
Hi. My T813 (with snapdragon) charges very slow. It needs almost an entire day to charge to 100%. I read that it only accepts original charger. Is someone here who has T813 and an original bundle charger? Can you please provide the exact model? Is it EP-TA12EWE?
I have the T-810 model, and noticed that after the Nougat update, my S2 now takes FOREVER to charge. This is using the OEM charger I have used since Day 1. Makes me wonder if Samsung tweaked something in the software for slower charging to maintain battery health.
I just got t813 from eBay for a few days. I don't know how long it charges from 0 to 100% but when I use it and charge at same time, it still charge up. So I guess it charges fast. I use model EP-TA12JWE with Rapow cable. BTW battery life is very good all stock no root yet.
The day before the Nougat update came to my S2 9.7 (Monday for me) my battery stopped charging almost completely.
It's been on the Samsung supplied charger for close to 36 hours and is just now at 38% - and the tablet has been off the whole time!
Of course my 1 year parts/labor warranty through Samsung ran out almost 6 weeks ago.
It's a damn shame because it has performed flawlessly until now and with the exception of the sharp edges on the body I absolutely LOVE the tablet...
PS: I have the smaller 8.0 version as well (as does my wife) and the charging/battery life are as expected.

Nope, that's not true. I use an Anker quick charger.

Updates..
Apple used to use updates to obsolete older tech so as to make customers buy their new devices sooner. Irony.

Interesting info, Mr. Niceguy.
The Drok device will definitely take some mah.
But I highly doubt an iPad will be better.
No SD card support. Hell no!

I'm not sure of the laws where you are but I'm fairly certain that in Australia that doesn't matter. Consumer law says something about "reasonable life" and manufacturers cannot limit you to 1 year for something like that. You should look into it where you are just in case.

In Europe they give at least a 2 years warranty on electronics. And some stores offer warranty extensions up to 4 years.
Personally, I think handsets should last at the very least 5 years, better yet a decade.

Unfortunately in the US it's simply whatever the mtg says it is - mostly 12 months parts/labor/defects...
Though, in the US electronics are even cheaper than in Europe.

I have the same issue
Or Samsung tweaked something in the software for slower charging so as to make you purchase the new s3 sooner.
My advice: avoid updates!
