Hi all. I'm new here, so I hope you can help me out. I've done a model search and read the suggested threads, so if this question has been posted before, kindly forgive the duplication.
I have an Incredible S S710a (Bell Canada). I bought, from ebay, a 3500mAh extended battery. I realized after it's arrival that this battery is compatible with the S710e (Europe). I know, I should have read more carefully. My phone will power on, but there is an exclamation point (!) over the battery icon and no cell signal at all. This is after turning the phone off, installing the new battery and back cover, and turning the phone on again. And off again and on again. So will a difference within a model, (a instead of e) really cause the battery not to work properly, or do I have a dud?
When I go back to the original battery and cover, it works great again. Thank you.

On the S710a, the antenna is built into the battery cover. Does the extended battery cover have metal contacts on the inside like your original cover? If not, that is why you aren't getting a signal.
The s710e also has antennae built into the battery cover.

If i am not wrong try to wipe your battery status from recovery .......or if you are new and do not know the procedure then follow the steps........
1. power of your device take out battery for 5 seconds and put it back.
2. hold down the vol down + power button together
3. select recovery to push vol down once then press power (it will reset your device into recovery mode)
4. select advanced in the menu at the end/bottom and then select wipe battery status.
5. Lastly go back to main menu and select system reboot.
Or if it is too much difficult for you to do that then or your are curious just reset your phone from ' settting / sd and phone storage / factory data reset '
Hope it will work for you.

Thanks to all who replied. I tried the above, and all was well till the end of step 3. The power up, which would be the beginning of step 4, gave me what looks like a cell phone in the background, with a red triangle and red exclamation point in the foreground. I left it for several minutes but no other menu appeared.
I am hesitant to do a factory reset, as I have a few paid apps. I do have access to another new phone (friend who works in an electronics store), so I will try the battery in a brand new handset.
I basically want to know if the battery is incompatible or defective, so we'll see what happens later today. An extensive google search hasn't given any answers, so this will be a good contribution to the knowledge base if we can sort it out.
I'll report back tomorrow. Thanks again.

Bingo! Thanks for all the great help. This worked and I'm up and running again.
One thing to note -- my indoor reception isn't as good, so it's probably the antenna on the extended back door. Outdoor reception works as normal.
For the newer update, the .253
I seems to remember that the service menu popped up some new stuff
by pressing the *#*#7378423#*#*
there, i dont remember two new stuff
1. Service setting > RF power back off test mode
and
2. Calibrations > Gyroscope / Accelerometer
can anyone check and see the .434 have these options?
I'm still on 434, and I don't see the "RF power back off test mode" option. Under "Service Setting", there are no items.
I don't see any "Calibrations" option either.

I am guessing the RF power back off test mode is signal powering off after a period of idle
since inside there is three option

Now this is weird and I tried turning off phone and on again but to no avail. I updated to the latest firmware (over the air) for my Xperia Z and I noticed some weird behaviour ... 1 Google + is now crashing 2 Some times upon pressing the power button the backlight of the display comes on but the mobile does not and I would have to turn it off again and back on to get it on. And now the latest surprise is ..... I CANNOT go past my lock screen . I am inserting the correct pin ,,,, the one I usually use and now I am desperate because I DONT want to lose the data that's in it. I know I can re-flash the mobile and resolve the issue but I have some photos which I really wish to keep as they have emotional value. So I want to avoid the route of doing a hard reset yet.
Thing is after I inserted the pincode and its saying its wrong for a number of times ... I expected the forgot password button to turn up on the lock screen but it is not ... Could anyone kindly explain to m e how to get this forgot password to come up on my numeric lock screen ? Everything is stock and the phone has wifi and 3g set to off ....
Please help !! I don't want to lose what's in my mobile.
Kind Regards
Al

Are you able to tap on "emergency call" on the lockscreen? If yes, go ahead and tap it. It should open up the dialpad then type in *#*#7378423#*#* . It should open up the service menu. At the service menu, navigate to "service tests" ---> "NFC" and let the test run. Once the test compleates, go ahead and tap the "home" button. You should see you homescreen.
Hope it helps
Regards.

Tried to test it for myself without having problems with my pin lockscreen. But this doesn't work. A window pops up and tells me that this is not an emergency number.

If that fails as well, i think its better to contact Sony Customer Service and check if they could help but to be honest with you, high chances are there that they will advice you to perform a hard reset. Sorry dude :/
Hello!
I bought an s5 mini second hand, turned out to be locked to an overseas region.
Been reading here and tried to access the service mode without any luck
I tried this
Dial *#0011# on your Galaxy S4 in Phone app to launch Service Mode. Ok, got here
When the Service menu is launched, tap on Menu (left soft key) and select Back from the list of options shown,
Tap on the Menu key again and select Key Input from the options. This will show you a pop up box. Tap on it, enter 1 & press OK.
Tap on the Menu button yet again and select Back. This should take you back to the Main Menu of Service Mode.
I do this sequence but stays on same screen
Also tried the same on *#1111#
or
*#197328640# nothing!
Thanks!
Have my 7 plus exactly a week.
Specs as follows: Model TA 1046, Android 8.1, 1st June 2018 Security patch
I've connected my phone to my car system with bluetooth but everytime when I start the car the phone is connected to the car system by bluetooth but after 2 min de BT connection is lost when I look at my screen of the phone I see that Bluetooth icon is still connected but it isn't. I already forget the BT connection in the phone and in the car and reconnect but problem remains. In the manual of the car audio system they refer to change the bluetooth settings of the phone where you need to set keep connections always. But when I search for that in the phone I can't find that option.
Does somebody know how to fix it?
I experience the same problem. I have this problem since the latest update.
I recently got Bluetooth headphones and found that playback easily got choppy if a part of my body was in between my headset and phone, or if the phone got locked. I did find a solution to this however, and not sure if it would work for anyone that has Bluetooth issues as well.
It seems as if Bluetooth has its own app on Android 8.1, and due to this, it's getting managed by Doze or the automatic app power saving that's on by default. I switched off battery management using the following steps:
1. Go to Settings
2. Apps & Notifications
3. Tap on the option that says "See all x apps"
4. Tap on the top right hand 3 dots.
5. Tap on "Show system"
6. Scroll down until you find "Bluetooth" and tap on it
7. Tap on Battery
8. Tap on Battery Optimisation
9. Press the blue dropdown that should say "Not optimised", and select "All apps"
10. Find Bluetooth again, tap on it.
11. Optimise should be ticked, tick "Don't Optimise" instead, then press Done.

I've had the same problem after the Januari update of Pie.
Could not find any BT device anymore.
Tried everything that I could find on the internet, without factory reset.
Then I came across the Bluetooth Discovery app in the playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manjul.bluetoothsdp
With the motto: It's already broken, so what the heck, just installed it, opened it and .... there were the BT devices that were not visible from the BT settings in Android itself.
Connected to my car stereo and .... voila. Music streaming and phoning working again
I have been in contact with Nokia and they have said to try this
In the meantime, we can suggest you a workaround in order to sort it out:
1.
- Please go to settings > network and internet > 3 dots on the top > reset network preferences. Keep in mind that this will erase all the Wi Fi passwords.
- After that, please do a Soft reset: Press the Power button and Volume UP button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, release them when you feel the phone vibrate and you see "Powered by Android" on the screen.
2. Check in safe mode:
- Press and hold the Power button.
- In the window that will appear on the screen, select and hold the "Power off" option.
- It will appear a new window called "Safe Mode". Then, press OK.
The device will restart in safe mode. An inscription about this will appear at the bottom left of the screen. After going into safe mode, use the device as usual. Check if the problem has disappeared. Remember that only preinstalled applications are available to you. If you want to go back to the normal mode, you just need to restart the device.
