Blu R1 Plus - BLU R1 HD Questions & Answers

Is there any info or threads for the R1 plus? Is it to new for any recoveries or rims?

no root, ro recovery, and very unlikly there will be, untill bootloader can be unlocked.

Apparently Santa brought the wrong phone. I received a BLU R1 PLUS from Santa and I can't find a way to root it. Please update if anyone finds an easy way. Thank you so much for your support!!!

Return it if you can if possible and try and order an R1 HD.

[REQUEST] A Recovery for our phone (TWRP/CWM)

Is there anyone willing to compile a recovery for our tiny beast? We really need it. Anyone with this phone that wants root access cannot attain it because there are no root methods for it other than through the recovery for this phone. :/

I've tried root genius and it always fails at 65%. Has anyone had more success with this?

Lets work on root for now. I'm hoping Chainfire's root on the 64 bit Nexus 9 will give some developers some insight on root for this phone. Fingers crossed. I'm helping as much as I can.

Root for a 64 bit device?? Yes!!! Finally!! Lol I know that it's not here yet, but hearing that the wait time might be shortened has me excited! I just cannot wait until I can one click root this and start tweaking this beautiful lil device. This should hold me over til Lollipop is pushed to this model.

Been communicating back and forth between here and and AndroidForums, Shinru has been working hard on it but we need more help. We can't create a custom recovery without root, and we can't get root without a custom recovery. It's a vicious cycle and we're stuck. If anybody knows any Devs that can help us work on it please call out to them.

Those only work if you're on v6.6. I got my phone back from repairs with v7.4.2 and can't unlock the bootloader.
I've tried and keep getting a 'BROM ERROR:S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL error 2004'.

it has been told that it does work on 7.4.2 also. and does not use spft so that error is not relevant.

Hey mrmazak,
Thanks for your development and the support of this community with Dirtycow.
To clarify, are you seeing any exploits that could be leveraged in order to root and it will take more time for development, or is it just out of the question?
Thanks,

Blu has changed preloader since v6.6. no access to preloader from sptf, so no flashing, no root
Thanks mrmazak,
Anytime sooner will there be root ?
No, there will not be root. The security holes have been plugged. The tools used to modify the phones have been blocked.
If you installed a recent over-the-air update, you are out of luck - no recovery, no flashing, no rooting. Period. End of story. Done.
Never accept an over-the-air update for a phone that you want to root or modify.

Wow **** blu.
Guess I'll just return it, you know, cause **** sales too!
Sorry, I am new to rooting with many of my phones and I am getting very frustrated at how many developers patch the root. I used to think Android was friendlier for root than iOS is for jailbreaking, don't think so anymore.
Is there a root friendly list of phones new you have on this forum up-to-date?
Sort of hard to buy a phone requesting from the seller to have the "right version" on it. Ex.) blu phone prior to v6.6.
Thanks.

If you have custom recovery , then yes. The dirty cow part is only needed to allow bootloader unlock. So once it's unlocked and you have recovery , should be no problem to root

Need help to downgrade my note 8 to a previous update (N950USQU7DTA3)

So, couple months ago AT&T released an update (in January 2020) which I saw a significantly improved battery life by 25% I was planing to disable my updates for future updates because I really liked it! However, 2 weeks later one day i wake up and my phone forced a new update and the battery life got back to the same even worse that what it used to be before that first update! Now, I am looking to downgrade my update to (N950USQU7DTA3) to be specific. I cant seem to find the file. Is there a source to find it? Also, Its been years since I've done this. Is there a way you guys recommend doing it without causing any issues?
Thanks!
At&t does not post firmware. Just flash any US firmware it's all the same. It will provision to your At&t sim

Do you know how I can find and flash that specific one? N950USQU7DTA3? or to find which would be the most identical?
