Hello,
I'm stuck on the HTC screen.
I just wanted to start my phone and it stays stuck on the white HTC screen.
I'm s-on and not rooted(i was a few weeks ago). When i go into recovery it first shows the green circle and the green down arrow, and then it shows the red circle with an exclamation mark, i then need to push sound up+power button to get into recovery.
It says at the top: Android system recovery <3e> and i get a lot of errors:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:set_bootloader_message_block: emmc_read_data fail!
E:Can't mount /data/data/recovery/log
E:Can't open /data/data/recovery/log
E:set_bootloader_message_block: emmc_read_data fail!
I only have 4 options to choose from: Reboot system now, Apply update from sdcard, Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cashe partition.
When i try Apply update from sdcard it says:
--Invalid Operation--
success rebooting by reasonem-00
E:Can't mount /data/data/recovery/log
E:Can't open /data/data/recovery/log
E:set_bootloader_message_block: emmc_read_data fail!
And then it just turns off.
When i choose Wipe data/factory reset, it says:
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
E:Can't mount /data/cwpkg.zip
E:Can't mount /data/cw.prop
E:Can't open /data/cwpkg.zip
E:Can't open /data/cw.prop
Formatting /cache...
E:Can't mount /data/data/recovery/log
E:Can't open /data/data/recovery/log
E:set_bootloader_message_block: emmc_read_data fail!
When i choose Wipe cache partition it says:
-- Wiping cache...
Formatting /cache...
Cache wipe complete.
E:Can't mount /data/data/recovery/log
E:Can't open /data/data/recovery/log
E:set_bootloader_message_block: emmc_read_data fail!
When i try to reboot system now it first do 4-6 vibrations and the screen stays black. and i can't do anything only if i pull the battery out and back in. When i press power it stays stuck again on the White HTC screen!
What do i need to do to get rid of the White HTC screen?

Well youre not rooted so no surprise that you cant do anything in recovery.... What are you even doing in the recovery anyways? And plus the White HTC Screen is a splash screen is there forever (if youre S-ON that is ). Flash a custom recovery like 4EXT or CWM, flash superuser arm script and then do whatever
Can you find me a tutorial or briefly write it down here?

frankly, the "072665995" 's guide is most neat and easy to understand guide!!
i used the same to gain root, s-off, and flash a custom rom!!
do it and your problem will get solved!!
When i'm at step 4. Flash a recovery, i get stuck.
I go into fastboot usb, then i type: "fastboot devices", and it shows my serial.
Then i type: "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivo.img" and it stays at: Writing 'recovery'...
And my phone is stuck too.
What can i do?

this didnt happen in my case!!
but still if your phone is stuck try this,
rename the recovery.zip file as PG32IMG
put it on your sd card
reboot inbootloader
it should automatically flash recovery, theoretically.
obviously, DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK
hit thanks, if i helped you!

Hello All,
I have a Samsung Galaxy I9070.
I have rooted the device from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087424 and it worked fine.
After that i tried to Flash a CWM 5 XX version,
1. I wiped all the data/reset
2. While flashing it from "Apply update from external storage" the device got powered off.
3, I did a hard restart to enter recovery mode and then CWM showed up and stared to blink.
4. Now i got a error as E: Failed to mount / efs(invalid argument).
5. i have restarted the device.
6. i am getting a error as Unfortunately,the processcom.google.process.gapps has stopped.
Now i thought to flash a new rom from SD card and then it may work.
1. i flashed cynogen Mod 11.0
2. after that it is just stuck at the starting screen of Cynogen Mod logo.
Now i have restored the Jellybean from Odin and still i get the same error as Unfortunately, the processcom.google.process.gapps has stopped.
and also in the recovery mode E: Failed to mount / efs(invalid argument). this error stayed.
Please help me to get the device back to working.
Just an update-
1. i have used ODIN and installed Ginger bread on it.
2. The phone got turned on and working.
3. I am not able to connect to Wifi.
4. But when i go to recovery mode, it still shows that error as E: Failed to mount / efs(invalid argument).
5. I think this this EFS file is corrupted and so Mac address of the device is corrupted.
How do i fix this error. Please help. i have not taken a backup of this efs.
Thanks All.

Try this maybe.
I have the same problem.
I wanted to flash a new rom and and deleted some unnecessary folders and I deleted some hidden folders.
I can enter on recovery/downloading but I can't flash any rom.
I've flashed a stock rom (JB) via Odin and it restart the device on setup screen but it gives 2 errors (I'll post the images).
I've flashed another stock rom (GB) via Odin and it restart the device on the home screen but whenever I go to recovery it shows me the the message E: Failed to mount / efs (Invalid argument)
I've tried some methods I've found on the forum but they didn't work.
The link posted don't work for me.
My phone connect to 3G and don't shows the error "Baseband and IMEI unknown / Baseband unchangeable".
I didn't find any thread on the forum with the answer for my problem.
Hi everyone!
I have a Galaxy S3 4G, I9305, and I have no idea what's happened to it. To make it short and sweet:
I can boot into Odin, it has triggered the counter.
To be exact it says:
HTML:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9305
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (3 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
I tried to flash a new CWM tar-file, as well as TWRP and a Sammy-ROM (can't remember which one), everyone gives it a FAIL in Odin. The program itself shows "Added!" when I connect my phone, so it's something. Still, it fails me on the tar-files I've tried, no specific reason, just a fail.
When I open CWM, I'm greeted with these messages:
HTML:
CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4 : : CF-v1.5
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
These messages will come up every time I enter an option like advanced, mount etc. If I try to select "install zip from sdcard" I get "Can't mount /sdcard/", and if I try to install zip from internal sdcard, the phone reboots.
If I try to wipe the phone, it says "formatting /data..." for a few seconds, before it reboots.
Is there any hope at all for this phone, or is it completely bricked? Could it be hardware related?
Thanks to everyone replying!
Try to flash latest version of TWRP and format everything again.
Thanks for your reply!
As I stated in the post, everything I flash gives me an error - TWRP as well
Anything else I can do?
