As posted...it has the 2.4 only or the 2.4/5.0ghz wifi?
From samsungs note specifications site:
"Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct"
WLAN a-band is 5ghz area, so I think it has 2.4 and 5ghz.
thanks

Hmm, anyone with a note actually able to use 5ghz wifi? I have so far been unable to.

both of my wireless bands are showing up on my note as well as the SGS II (2.4ghz and 5ghz)
It's working on mine. Router Asus n56.

hmm.. mine doesn't see the 5GHz radio on my Netgear WNDR3700.
Weird.
As a side note, i do think connecting to the 2.4GHz radio is a better idea as it has better range, and the Note won't be able to utilize the extra speed of the 5GHz channel anyway.
yes it works 5.0ghz also, with d-link routers.
its faster than on the 2.4 crowded band.
Mine connects to the 5 Ghz coming out of my WRT610N running dd-wrt
Works fine on my old Belkin G router (2.4Ghz) and the new Belkin N router (5.0Ghz). So yep.

The note has only antenna, so yes, it won't fully utilize it, but I get much faster speeds on the N router than the G oh and the speed drop off at the edges of reception is much less with N.
Hmm, well my 5ghz doesn't seem to be showing up. Anyone have any idea what troubleshooting steps I should take?

So just an update for people. I figured out the issue. 5ghz doesn't seem to be supported on 1xx channels, but works just fine on the lower frequency xx channels. I wonder, is this an European thing? Would there be a firmware tweak to enable the higher frequency (and higher output power) 1xx channels?
+1 on that. I would like to see it able to be used with the higher channels
I think it depends on whether the router utilizes the 20MHz or the 40MHz band. I bet the note can only see the 20MHz one.

Nope it can see.the 40 as thats the only one I have selected

It has both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz I see and have connected to both on my Netgear N600
OK ppl its the channel your router has set for 5ghz. European basebands only see 5ghz channels provisioned on Europe. Check Wikipedia, specifically here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels
Simple fix... change router 5ghz channel to match region of your baseband
Using a higher or lower channel means nothing. Its finding the channel that is least crowded and has the least amount of interference.
Worked!

I wasn't able to connect with my netgear wndr4500, but this fixed it! thanks!
Or you can always flash a firmware which supports your local 5 GHZ frequency in case you have other devices which use this frequency range. I noticed that Asian firmware supports NA 5 GHZ frequencies.
I have a Linksys E4200. I tried using WiFi analyzer and put it to scan for the exact frequencies available in the E4200 5Ghz configuration, the S2 is unable to detect any 5Ghz channels. I also tried selecting all channels, but it did not work.
EDIT: Just found an answer on another thread that worked, I manually set the channel to 36. The phone immediately detected the network. Its odd that in auto the phone cant detect it.
I have the SM-T713 which is the 8" 2016 version. I have a 25Mbps connection and every other wireless device I own, including 2 older Samsung tablets (a Tab S 10.5 and a 2014 Note 10.1) will consistently pull about 30 Mbps download speeds. My S2 have never even made it to 12 Mbps. Oddly, the upload speed is consistent with the other devices. Anyone else seen this problem? I am running stock Nougat 7.0 and use whatever defaults there are for wifi settings. All speed tests were run in the same location in my house. It's not a huge deal for me but I find it odd that such a nice tablet appears to have a wifi defect.
I also have the 8" SM-T713 running 7.0. I get 70Mbps and more on my 100Mbps connection at home, always comparable to my other devices. Have you tried different channels on your router?
No I have not but other devices using the same channel don't have a problem. I connected to my guest network which is on the 2.4Ghz band and the download was what it should be! I don't understand why that would be but since it works, I'll take it. Thanks!
I just received my T813 yesterday and its speed is slower than my original Tab S 8.4. I have 200 Mhz Comcast system. On 5. Ghz both my Samsung S8 and T700 are Faster.
T700 => 154 Mbps
S8 => 194 Mbps
T813 =>103 Mbps
Same problem with my T713. Maybe I'l try 2.4GHZ
What's reporting the download speed, the router or the end device?
I would only trust the router statistics.
Are the sources the same and reliable?
I'll have to run a speed check on mine, but I will say that my tab S2 is capable of better sustained network operations than my S7 Edge. I stream video from a NAS server to a Chromecast receiver via my Tab S2 flawlessly, which is something my S7 Edge can't do - despite the fact that the S7 has a "faster" network connection.
All of the devices are on a 5G WiFi network.
I have a Google wifi router setup at my house. 300 mbps down and all my other devices work flawlessly. My s105g keeps disconnecting or lagging and telling me I have no internet. Can I downgrade back to the old firmware?
I also did a factory reset and reset network settings on phone. Still the same results.
You are more than likely using wifi channels on the Google router/ap that are not supported by the region of the phone or firmware you have installed on the phone.
Login to your Google AP and change the channels for 2.4 and 5 GHz to channel 1 and between channel 36 and 44
I have Google WiFi and S10 5G with the most recent update and do not have any issues.

My Pixel 4XL can't connect to indoor 5GHz wifi channels (under channel ID 100).
Can connect to upper channels such as channel id 100...to 161.
My router was set to auto which settled on ch161 @ 40MHz. I switched it to ch40 @ 80MHz and my phone connected to it fine.
Maybe certain channels are restricted in your country and the phone is honoring that?

only see upper channels (100-161) 5GHz WiFi.
I'm unable to connect to 5Ghz WiFi with my S21 FE.
I've tried resetting a lot of settings but the phone does not recognize any 5Ghz wifi.
What can I do to make it work? Other devices see both 5Ghz routers but this phone is limited to just the slower one.
try setting your router to use channel 155
some have said this fixed 5ghz visibility.
