In the Netherlands the Crisis Cell Broadcast is called NL-Alert.
According to all information I can find, Huawei cell phones are standard set to receive these messages.
But I don't receive the periodic test message.
According to instructions I found, I should go to Messages > Options > Cell Broadcasts > Menu > Settings > Extreme threats, to stop receiving these broadscasts. I hoped to find a possibilty there to activate them but I can't find anything corresponding to this path.
What do I have to do on my P10 (with Android 7.0) to receive Crisis Cell Broadcasts?

Hallo Richard,
In English (as I found this useful)
I have a P9, but maybe the NL-Alert settings are in the same location as the P9:
Settings> Sound> Click "Mobile Broadcasts" (bottom)> In the next screen under CMAS settings
Click to expand...

Same issue here and I can't find the setting described either on the messaging settings or the sound settings.. It looks like it was not included in my android version... My phone is huawei P9 lite 2017 (refresh edition with the round fingerprint reader)

Choose actiono apps can perform this action
There is only an OK button below that.. Any thoughts???

Whenever I type www.youtube.com into internet explorer, I get redirected to pl.youtube.com. I'm assuming this is the Polish youtube site? This started happening after I flashed Duttys V4 RTM. I would think this is a cookie-associated issue, so I have cleared the internet cache & the internet history to no avail (do either of those clear the cookies?). Also, under "default character set" in PIE options, I had western european selected as the default. There is no english selection in the drop-down list. I'm not sure this is the cause of my redirection, but it's the only other thing I can think of that might be the cause. Anyone got a solution? On a funny note, "featured videos" translates to "Polecane filmy wideo" in Polish. LMAO @filmy wideo
Maybe your phone wants to make you learn new languages
I'm trying to be as explicit as possible here, so that people find it easy to perform this process. So read the first post through and it should work out.
I'll update A.Bagatov's entry in the wiki once I figure every single step out.
Hello,
I'm excited to get VoIP working. I've referred to the previous thread, and have come up with the following _setup.xml to work with Gizmo5:
<snipped>
My main purpose might seem a little weird, but I'd like to be able to make calls when my phone is tethered on a PC with ActiveSync... Through testing, it seems possible, as I current have "Internet Calling: Available" when I allow a data connection through ActiveSync, with the phone radio on or off.
My questions are...
Does that _setup.xml look alright? It must, since I have "Internet Calling: Available," right?
Also, how can I tell if the settings are correct? Should the carrier be reflecting the "provider name" attribute of the _setup.xml file? It currently states Home (I have the radio off), but have "Internet Calling: Available," and can not place calls.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
Matt
[possibly SOLVED]
For Gizmo5:
Code:
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<characteristic type="VoIP">
<parm name="SIPSettings"
value="<provision key='1232ab01' name='gizmo5'>
<provider name='Gizmo5' />
<user account='[email protected]' password='password'
uri='sip:[email protected]'
allowedauth='digest'/>
<sipsrv addr='sip:proxy01.sipphone.com' protocol='UDP' role='proxy'>
<session party='First' type='pc2pc' />
<session party='First' type='pc2ph' />
</sipsrv>
<sipsrv addr='sip:proxy01.sipphone.com' protocol='UDP' role='registrar'/>
</provision>" />
</characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
Change registry settings as described in this post.
[TESTING]
All with "Use Internet Calling" set to: "Whenever possible."
Tethered/No Wifi/No EDGE:
- Internet access: Okay.
- Internet calling: "No Service"
Wifi/No Tether/No EDGE:
- Internet access: Okay.
- Internet calling: "Searching..."
*EDGE/No Wifi/No Tether:
- Internet access: Okay.
- Internet calling: "Searching..."
EDGE/Wifi/No Tether:
- Internet access: Okay.
- Internet calling: "Searching..."
Note that "Searching..." reportedly means it's connected... it just does not update the status to available... I think this is because there is code missing from the VoIP installer CAB to handle whatever handshake acknowledgment situation occurs... I also figure this means there may be issues receiving calls; but that's not what I'm using it for anyway. (see Gizmo5's Backdoor calling feature [currently only available in the US])

To activate Internet Calling over 3G (thanks Sleuth255 & Golfman),
go to the HKLM\Comm\RTC\AdapterTypes with a registry editor (like Total Commander),
now delete both the "1" and the "2" values that are here,
next reset your device and Internet calling will connect over the data connection for your phoneservice.

Oh... damn... Gizmo5 would work, but the Backdoor dialing is only available in the US for now:
"I have a non-US number. Can I use backdoor dialing?
We are launching the program with US numbers only but hope to expand it to international numbers in the middle of 2008. If you are a registered Gizmo5 user you will receive email when we expand the program to your country."
sip:[email protected] is an example of a backdoor dial.
hey guys,
do you know how can i set google maps to english? because it always gets the info from the regional settings and changes it's language to that. but i wanna keep my regional settings on what it's set, and set google maps english.
any chance to do that?
If your regional settings are for instance 'Dutch', in 'Program Files\GoogleMaps' delete the file 'gmm_nl' then copy and rename the file 'gmm_en_GB' to 'gmm_nl'.

Here is what I found and posted on the Google Mobile Help Forum:
Google Maps detects the language for the menues on some weird ways from the settings on your phone.
The Windows Mobile on my phone is "ENGLISH", but the regional settings are "JAPAN".
Out of this information Google Maps decides to show me the menus in Japanese.
Ok, I guess the developers of this software were never moving their a.. out of the office, so they have no idea what it means to live in a country where you cannot understand the language nor read the writing.
According to the Google Employees answers here, there is no solution for this problem.
Well here is a workaround (at least for me it works). Its a little bit tricky and I give no guarantee that it works for everybody:
Install Google Maps and start it. Make sure it connects to the internet and sets your current location (maybe not necessary).
If it shows the menues in a language you cannot understand, (Japanese, Chinese, Thai, French, Spanish, ....) then close Google Maps.
Go to the settings of Windows Mobile. Change your regional settings to "English (US)" or whatever language you need in Google Maps.
Maybe you need to reset your phone.
Start Google Maps again. Now the menus should be in the language you selected. Make sure it connects to the internet and sets your current location (maybe not necessary).
Close Google Maps.
Go to the settings of Windows Mobile. Change your regional settings back to "Japanese" or whatever language you need in in your phone.
Now the tricky parts comes.
On your phone in the folder \Application Data\GoogleMaps you see a file "i18n-strings.dat". Copy the file to your PC and open it with a hex editor. When you scroll through the file, you (hopefully) see at the beginning of the file something like en^".. en/strings_remote_"
I changed here the "en" to "ja" (as I am in Japan).
Save the file and copy it back to your phone into the \Application Data\GoogleMaps folder.
On the next start of Google Maps, I get the menus in English, even my Regional Settings are back to "Japanese".

Of course the maps itself are still in the local languages, but that is something I can live with.
Hope this helps.

I don't care about the menu, I just want the map to display English only, anyway to do it? Thanks
Hi, I just like to share what i did to solve the problem of language on mobile google maps.
1. Change the setting of "set location service option" to off and unmark the "htc location service" checkbox.
2.Set region to English.
3.Restart the phone.
4.download google maps software.
5. Turn on back the "set location service option" and mark htc location service" checkbox.
6.Install the google maps.
7. Run the application.
So far it work well. I,m in Germany but using english on google maps.
tchuss.
good luck!
Hi. I am looking for creating a shortcut (.lnk) to Settings -> Personal tab --> Phone --> Band tab without the need for clicking multiple times.
I know this is possible however I am not sure which program to call in the Windows directory and pass which parameters.
I guess its my way of not using Bandswitch on the phone since it isn't disabling my 3G. I do have a old version (1.2.3) of the software and don't want to pay for the latest and greatest one. The goal is to be on EDGE (for primarily savings battery) most of the time unless I really need 3G for say streaming of stuff. For my regular web access and email, EDGE should suffice.
Any one, please? I am sure the senior members know a few tricks!
Thanks a ton.
P.S. I asked this question in the Kaiser ROM development forum where someone suggested I should post it here.
Try Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool which will enable you to install a 10 button Comm Manager with a button to toggle 3G.
with notepad you write the following :
Settings>Personal>Phone>Band = 23#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,20,4
then save it as band.lnk in your device
Check here.

Hi Pavan,
Hope our CBI or IB doesn't read your post.
They may interrogate you for the reasons behind it.
There was an commercial here in The Netherlands about showing that, although it is probably near the signal tower.
How to do this with you own phone (Windows Mobile):
- Install Microsoft MyPhone
- Go to Menu > Sync Options
- Select Current location, "Done"
- Go to Menu > Sync Schedule
- Select Daily and the time you want to know when.
- Go to myphone.microsoft.com and read the location.
Or you could use a anti theft application and get the location by texting a code that your phone will respond with its GPS coords.
Like SmartProtect.
