Need help with update latest rom for gaming. - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello brothers, i need your help its been a while since i stopped using my MI3, i want to use it only for gaming but i'm on miui kitkat really outdated version.
so i'm wondering what's the next procedure to update to latest roms (of course i will update TWRP first), but what do i need to flash first or i don't know. if i can recall there was a time when you had to flash a rom to merge the 2 systems which i think i did and went back to kitkat miui but now i don't know what to do in order to get to the latest roms.
so if somebody can help me out with the steps i appreciate it very much.
Have a good day

Use Lineage 14.1 and set the battery profile to performance mode and play some games.

Hey can i install this rom with cwm and how?
Verstuurd vanaf mijn GT-I9300 met Tapatalk
I quickly tried this one, but keep getting fc's when trying to use dialler. Keeps say telling me contacts has had an error.
Did a full clean install before trying, wiped everything, cache, system, preload and even formatted internal sd card.
Will try again tonight and see if it still happens.

I have no dialer / contact problems. Try Wiping your internal storage, might be some lingering data.
Anyway, more feedback after using the ROM for a half day.
The battery doesnt seem to be as good as the Reviva ROM (however, I used Googy Max kernel with Reviva, ill reflash Googy Max and report back)
As for the performance, its not that good (don't get me wrong, its one of the best among the 4.3 ROMS) I just think that 4.3 is a real screw up. The transitions do lag quiet often, or maybe i just got used to running AOSP kitkat.
In all Honesty, the best ROM i ever used was Reviva based off the Samsung 4.2.2 Leak. That gave me a day and a half usage (4.3 and 4.4 currently give me just under a full day, 4.3 beating 4.4 by a slight margin) and the performance was amazing
I honestly hope we get a 4.4 update and then a SlimROM KitKat .
I know this sounds weird but you wouldnt have to have a backup of your ICS ROM would you? I was never a fan of jellybean, trying to force the system to render at 60fps is a flawed approach, im sure jellybean was Google's temporary solution while they worked on KitKat. In fact, KitKat is still beta, I'm sure they have been planning Kitkat memory rewrite + dalvik removal for some time.

The performance isnt bad. Like I said. Among 4.3 its good. It has what I call "Samsung lag" like when u pull down the notification bar or unlock the phone.
Just the battery life isnt as good as reviva. Like I said ill flash Googy Max and test it tomorrow.
thanks for the ROM.
tried to flash it using Philz recovery and CWM , downloaded the rom twice "so it is not bad/damaged downloaded file" .

What he is saying is that you can do a lot of customization with a rooted phone and Xposed without flashing a custom ROM. The downside is that you are still stuck with a lot of bloat in the stock apps. There are ways to remove them but doesn't always work and can cause other problems. And there are limits to Xposed. The upside is it is less risky to go the Xposed/root/stock route.
I have tried numerous custom ROM's and they all have pros and cons. I have been on AOSP with Monster Kernel and Slim_zero_gapps_beta for a while now and am very pleased with it. Minimal OS is also quite good, but I have a custom app that I use and it didn't work with Minimal. If not for that it would be my ROM of choice.
In spite of what some people will tell you, there is no "perfect" ROM that meets all needs for all users. I suggest you try a couple and see what works for you. However, be sure you have read all you can about flashing ROM's and when you think you understand it all, read it again. Always do a nanroid backup of your current working config before flashing. Store all backups and files you need to flash on your external SD-Card. Don't switch from one ROM to another without doing a full wipe. Use TWRP 2.8.x for your recovery.
Once again be sure you have a good understanding of the steps you need to follow before flashing any ROM. I see far too many sad pleas for help from users who jumped in too quickly and have bricked their devices. Do the research before you proceed. Don't expect to led by the hand but don't be afraid to ask questions if something is not clear. Good luck my friend.
I have been using AOSP for a while, and I'm happy with it (cuz it has awesome battery backup). However, AOSP's latest build now has battery drain issue, and I have to find another ROM that is bug-free and has good battery backup.
Can anyone suggest some stable ROMs which last about 5h sot? Thanks in advance!

I am using minimal os and it is daily drive material, no bugs and smooth. Now as far the battery goes I get about 4 hours SoT with mainly browsing and gaming using emulators for about 1 hour. Then again it depends on your usuage. As I found the key is to keep the brightness as low as possible.

I'm using Minimal OS, works like a charm. Great battery and performance, also, no bugs so far.
ROMS I've seperated into category's (NOTE THIS IS IN MY OPINION)
Performance : Radium Redefined (5.0.2)bundled with Stellar Kernel (It aslo has amazing battery backup but i like it for its perfomance)
Battery : Fusion (5.1.1) with Halogen Kernel
Balanced : Minimal OS with Decipher Kernel
Overall : Titan Prime Anorexic bundled with Stellar Kernel (find this on the titan prime rom website, link in the TP thread)
Note except Minimal OS, all other ROM's ive mentioned, I've used Abhisheks battery guide (in general section of forum)
For daily use, is best stock rom with xposed or minimal os?
I want no problems... I want only personalize my smartphone and use root with apps likes greenify for example... Thanks you so much

If you're going for a daily driver then I'd suggest you use stock+stellar kernel with xposed (Stellar Kernel+Amplify+PowerNap=Epicness). Minimal OS is good and all with balanced performance with decipher kernel but I'd still go with the stock.

Also try a stock based custom rom called Radium Redefined with Stellar Kernel (You won't need to flash xposed with this cause the battery backup is amazing, close to 6 hrs of screen on time)

Looking for latest "best experience" ROM for my Sister (Urgent)

Hello and good day/night to all.
First let me recap, I haven't been active in this device forum since I got the NOOK HD+ for my Sister and removed Stock to flash CM9, then she left our country to study in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is now back but for Vacations for a very short period of time ( she lives in few days).
She told me she had problems with the firmware, mostly when she turned on WiFi the device would slow down a lot making it almost unusable. Her laptop broke so she depends on the tablet for now for even study.
So the first thing I did was to do a quick research for options. I picked the New maintained MM CM13 build by Amaces and been testing for 2 days now but its definitely not going to work out for my sister as MM is recent and there are many things to work out still.
I'm here to ask you guys (flashaholics) for advice. What ROM would you recommend me for my sister.
She needs something that just works, bugs free, good multitasking, near smooth experience that doesn't slow down after a while, good WiFi that don't cause issues.
"We don't care on the eye candy part and I don't mind if its really outdated firmware like Jellybean, ICS, Kitkat nor if it has a bunch of features."
So please recommend me the best and simple (light) experience ROM in performance that last that you've flashed in the past.
Hope you understand the rush of this, I'm running out of time, we are traveling plus I'm the one driving so I really don't have enough time to test different ROMs blind.
Thank you so much in advance.

For a simple, stable rom I suggest CM10.1.3 stable. Go to my thread linked in my signature for instructions.

FWIW I've been running CM11 20151122-NIGHTLY build since it first came out and I am very happy with its responsiveness and stability as a daily driver.
I had tried out CM12.1 for a few weeks and found its performance can have wild swings as time goes on.
CM
I would probably grab the last official snapshot cm off the cm website and run that. May not be the fastest or flashiest but it's rock solid. Just my 2 cents
Thank you all for the replies. I just got back from a trip and I'll have time tonight to flash CM 10.1.3, I also have the proper gapps and TabletUI zips ready.
I'll post back how it goes after testing.
Enviado desde mi ghost mediante Tapatalk
There is new CM11 nightly: cm-11-20160221-NIGHTLY-ovation.zip
Has any of you tried it?
Enviado desde mi ghost mediante Tapatalk
OK so tested CM 10.1.3 and I left it that way, she didn't like TabletUI (plus i found few issues with it) so I better reinstalled system.
After I disabled all 3 animations options from developer options , the tablet started feeling a bit more faster/responsive. Enough to not pull my hair while multitasking and using apps.
Wish it be faster while using apps but oh well when I get another chance and enough time, I may try another ROM in it, CM11, as was also recommended.
Thanks!

Mokee is the best right now and has an amazing ui
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761812 after trying latest cm nightly(Setup wizard stopped working) and cm11 m12 snapshot(tablet would automatically reboot after shutting down).
So far, i have never experienced any of those issues on mokee.
Thank you @paz4491 I'll give it a try next time. I've used mokee in the past in my MotoX and I liked it.

I couldn't get Mokee to work. "Unfortunately, Google Keyboard has failed." kept popping up when I tried to go through the setup. How can I get through setup without a keyboard?
I tried the Marshmallow ROM available here on XDA and had similar problems - in addition to random freezing.
I'm still running PacMan ROM 4.4.4 - no problems.

Hmm that is very strange, never had this issue on my hummingbird..
boot into twrp, mount the system and use twrp's file manager to delete the stock keyboard in system/priv-app....After rebooting you can then use adb to install another third party keyboard.

The keyboard failure is usually because you used the wrong version of gapps for the version of rom you installed.

At list that was the case for my MotoX when I tried Mokee month ago.

Hi, im using now zui and it's pretty similar on concept to miui and works pretty well but I installed just yesterday and I'm tweaking it a little bit yet, what's not working fine it's the notifications I receive only few and I activate it all also the 4g its not working fast so I will probably switch the card to try.
I aksi tried nightlys 13.1 and 14.1 that works also very well a and it's the most similar to android stock.
What I notice with zui is that the battery life its a bit better and the camera also do better photos in my view.
So try yourself and decide and of course forget about the capacite buttons.

I am using the ZUI 2.3.045 as well. It is by far better and faster than any other custom ROM. The fingerprint sensor is much more reliable and fast and the battery life better. Idle battery consumption is better too.
Also, in my opinion its far more beautiful than stock Android but that is a personal taste. Surprisingly, ZUK has done a good job, something unusual for a Chinese company other than Xiaomi and Meizu.

Thanks for your detailed reviews!
May I know how do you flash it?
Does 2.3.045 can install xposed and also viper4android?
Cuz I am planning to try this rom with twrp flash version
(http://zukfans.eu/community/threads/twrp-z1-zui-2-3-045-st.1439/)
I found it on another forum and it is flashable via TWRP. Root is achieved after flashing the SU via TWRP also. Unfortunately, I haven't tried installing neither Xposed nor viper.
Edit: Yeah, this is the one I flashed. Google services and Play Store are installed via the Chinese Store that comes with the ROM.

The battery is better than any other ROM I've tried so far (Nuclear 6.0.1/7.1.1, Cyanogenmod 14.1, MIUI). GPS is good although I must admit I've done little testing. As for stability, yes, it is rock solid.

No bugs so far and I've been using it for a week now. Yes, you need to wipe system as well. So it is cache, dalvik cache, system and data. Of course, don't wipe the internal storage as there is where your ROM zip will be.
I should mention that I restored all my apps with Titanium Backup and it worked flawlessly.

Do you use greenify for saving the battery as well? Or actually there is no need to use it on this rom?
Oh, no, I never use Greenify on any of my smartphones. I personally find it needless. Besides, battery life and performance are awesome on ZUK Z1 that there no need for Greenify.

yes pal, lineageos is bug free even if it´s a nightly, just flash and see for yourself. don´t expect a blazing fast device, as it´s a 3 years old phone, but its totally daily usable (my current daily driver, just waiting to get used to the huawei p9 size i bought a couple weeks ago). head over the LOS thread here and see for yourself. plus you get OTA, wich is kinda nice...
Try Mokee Latest Nightly. U can Try Tesla and Validus too.
Thankyou so much all of u guys

That's because there's only a mere 886MB usable RAM out of which 450-500MB is always in use and parallel space needs about 150-200MB RAM so you can't do anything about that.
I have tried LOS and AOSP in my wife's phone..But FM not working in LOS after I did some tweaks with custom kernel and pixel mode..
In AOSP, FM stops working after 2 weeks.
Can anyone suggest a workaround or noughat custom ROM without issue in FM
Thanks in Advance....
