Trying to root my moto g2 with "no command" - SuperSU

Hello, sorry if I am asking such a beginner question, but here is the deal, I am trying to install lineage os on my motorola moto g 2 (2014, titan), anyway, I tried to boot in recovery the twrp but it doesn't work because my phone says "no command", however I managed to find out that if I press the power button for 2-5 seconds and at the same time press and release the up button I manage to enter the options for recovery mode (such as boot normally, boot bootloader, wipe all data etc, etc).
Anyway I wanted to know what I should do in this situation so that I could root my phone (yes I already copied the lastest supersu to my sd card).
Sorry again for such a "noob" question, but it is my first time and I can't find anything.
Thank you so much!
Edit: I know that supersu doesn't root, what I am trying to say is that I am trying to root my phone (I can't do it) and also twrp is not working because it says no command.

No command is stock recovery. To get the options in stock recovery hold vol+ and then tap power.
As for the TWRP... you'll have to unlock your bootloader with fastboot. Then also use fastboot to flash TWRP. Then once you boot into TWRP click install and then navigate to the SuperSU zip file and select it. Swipe to flash.

Hi I already unlocked my bootloader with fastboot, I also used fastboot to flash TWRP, but I get no command.
I followed the steps on the Lineage OS titan install wiki (I can't post a link right now because I have less than 10 post))
I still get no command with recovery.

Interesting. No errors with fastboot? Also, you could try fastboot boot command to boot TWRP without actually flashing it. It might work. If it does you can still flash the root file and then you could use flashify and root to flash the TWRP permanently. (If you so desire.)

I put the twrp img on my adb/fastboot dir, cd the dir and I tried again to flash the smartphone
In download:
cmd: download:007ef00
That is the one error I had.
Is it because I left a copy on the smartphone?
I can't flash other way if execute the command outside that it says the file doesn't exist (even if it is on smartphone).

Nope, I don't even pass from the fastboot menu, when I try to flash TWRP.
I get that screen when I try to boot recovery, but it just says no command, it doesn't have all those letters..

Do you have a way of sending a pic of what your phone's fastboot screen looks like? PM me and I'll give you my email.

I think maybe your on the wrong screen. You may have to boot to android and use adb reboot bootloader to get to the fastboot screen.

[Q] Phone will only succesfully flash certain roms

Hey guys!
I have a problem, and to be perfectly honest I am not a massive expert at this sort of stuff, but bare with me.
I am trying to install Virtuous ICS Rom RC2 on my Incredible S, but once I've done so it won't boot past the HTC logo. Tried a clean wipe (factory reset/cache/dalvik cache), and even changing from EXT3 to EXT4 and back, but nothing works. Now, I've had this problem before with other various ROMs, and it seems that I can only get flawless installs and boots from Cyanogenmod 7.1 and MIUI (not the ICS version).
Currently running 4EXT recovery and MIUI, but I want the ICS rom really bad, and other Incredible S users are flashing without any problems, so I'm not sure what gives.
Any and all help would be appreciated (and sorry if this is a noob-ish question and/or in the wrong forum)!
Make sure you have the newest ClockWork Recovery Mod installed. If you do try reinstalling it and an engineering hBoot. I would say the problem would be that one of those are corrupt.
I will try both of those and get back to you with the results! Thanks!
Okay, so I updated CWM to 5.0.2.0, which did not do anything. When you say reinstall, do you mean a completely removal of CWM and then installing it again? Because I'm not sure how to do that.
Also, as usual, MIUI 1.2.30 installs just fine, but I just tried installing MIUI 2.12.13 and ended up in a bootloop. So, thus far, I can only flash two roms; CM7.1 and MIUI 1.2.30. These two were the first two roms I ever flashed, not sure if that has anything to do with anything but I thought it might be worth mentioning.
Unlocked bootloader with htcdev? You might need to reflash the boot.img from your desired rom's zip file with the command
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
i think you should flash the new ROM image

How do I flash a ROM via HBOOT? Do I just load it up, wait for the SD card to be read then plug it in via usb, go to cmd and type in the necessary prompts, and the boot.img file from my rom.zip will be flashed?

Read the FAQ sticky post for info on how to flash the boot.img file in a custom ROM.zip file.
Will do, thanks guys, wish me luck.
The correct first question is: Is the OP S-Off or HTC unlocked? if it's the latter, follow Nonverbose's advice.
My phone is S-OFF.

Please boot into Fastboot mode and run the following:
Fastboot getvar all
And post the results so we can see how your phone is currently set up
Okay, so I highlighted FASTBOOT and pressed the power button, then plugged in the USB and it changed to FASTBOOT USB. However, my PC doesn't find my phone, so I can't run the cmd prompts. Should I just go through the steps listed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105?

No that would not be applicable in your case from what you have told us. If you are S-Off and have a custom ROM installed, then you probably don't have HBOOT 1.16 or 2.00. That is why I wanted you to get the Fastboot getvar all information.
Have you installed HTC Sync on your PC to get the appropriate drivers set up?
Just installed HTC Sync and got all the appropriate drivers. Still won't show up as a disk when I'm in Fastboot, but I'm guessing it's not supposed to either.

No it won't show as a disk drive. Open a command window and set the working directory to the one where you installed adb.exe and Fastboot.exe and then type:
Fastboot devices and it should respond with your device serial number. If it does then you can type:
Fastboot getvar all

Ok you still have S-Off and now that you have fastboot working I would try reflashing CWM 5.0.2.0 recovery image in fastboot mode.
Copy the CWM recovery.img file to the directory where you have fastboot.exe. If you have a zip file for CWM5.0.2.0 then open the zip and copy the .img file.
Then in fastboot mode type the command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then I would try flashing Virtuous ICS.
Hm, sadly that didn't help, it still just bootloops and/or get stuck on the bootscreen (depending on the ROM, tried both the Virtuous ROM and the new MIUI).

HTC One S-On & stock rom erased!

Hey Guys,
I previously submitted another thread with my issue. I just really need some help on this. I was trying to flash another rom on phone but did not notice S-On until it was done. Going thru the custom rom install, I wiped everything even my recovery backups. All i can do now is boot into HBoot, Fastboot, or TWRP recovery. How can I get pass this problem? Is there a way I can get S-Off in fastboot mode only? Please I need access to my phone
Thanks

Since you have a custom recovery, extract boot.img from the zip, flash via fastboot : fastboot flash boot boot.img
run twrp, and install rom via sideload, like the previous guy said you don't need S-Off, with S-On you can't flash boot.img via twrp so it'll have to be done via bootloader

Unistall htc sync and htc drivers and install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261088 these drivers, then use adb command 'adb devices' and hopefully it shows up, to sideload, it's a simple adb command. have the rom.zip in the adb folder. then use 'adb sideload rom.zip' then wait until 100% and it'll automatically run the script on twrp
You need to be in recovery to do adb devices.
You need to have the phone connected in Fastboot USB mode to do fastboot device.
These are NOT interchangeable.

I have tested on dual-sim device (Taiwanese model) but single-sim devices, need volunteer to test it.
In this situation TWRP will request password, stock BOOT and boot into android once, in the meanwhile userdata will be encrypted.
BUT you won't do nothing if you flash TWRP, just format the userdata and install SuperSU, encryption doesn't matter anymore.
OK thx. So, you tried it with the DualSim version. That's great. But I don't know how to stock Boot and boot into Android? Can you help me with that? Thx a lot.

Rooted and not soft bricked.
hello, when I wrote adb devices, it show for me 2 devices, one is htc and one is emulator, so how I can choose my device htc ?
please advice.
Now I use magisk.
I downgraded my phone to 2.17.401.1 (with RUU) and then updated via ota to 2.23.401.1.
Then installed TWRP. From there I installed all three files from the links in the magisk section. Booted into recovery and installed the two zip-files, this time I had to format data to be able to install.
When booted I installed magisk manager from my download directory and Phils superuser app from play store.
Checked root with Root checker to confirm.

[ROM] Oxygen OS 3.2.5 untouched system.img + boot.img (twrp + fastboot)

If someone wants to make mirrors or a flashable zip, feel free to contact me and I will update thread
I've got my new OP3 today and what I've noticed that it runs with Oxygen OS 3.2.5. So I have looked around and saw that nobody backed up their 3.2.5 und uploaded it so I decided to do it.
Here is the download link: https://mega.nz/#!PJhzRDyL!wX12zmq9ptiu8gNbtfQfypB2Q6wGdu3IfNFFwi9acQk
The only requirement is an unlocked bootloader as fastboot doesn't allow to flash on locked devices
How to install:
via twrp:
- boot into twrp recovery
- press "install"
- press "install image" on the bottom right
- select the image and confirm on which partition it should flash
(not recommended) via fastboot:
- boot into fastboot
- use these commands to flash it:
ignore the little warning message and pe patient because it can take a while till you get a response from cmd because fastboot splits the image into 6 parts
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
Note: if your phone isn't booting, flash supersu and it should boot.

Then there is probably no way to install this to your device, as a user already said that using fastboot does not work.
I also think that your bootloader should be unlocked for this to work.

Mmh...ok, thanks anyway.
So basically you should have unlocked bootloader, supersued, and TWRP'ed

SuperSU is not needed, why should it be? With this you overwrite the whole System partition, thus removing all mods including SuperSU and Xposed.
waiting for someone to confirm the LTE issue resolution.. if it's resolved, I'll flash this ASAP..

EDIT:
Worked as described in the first post.
I flashed both files, followed by the latest SuperSU 2.78 and Xposed,
then did a reboot.
All works well!

Pick your brain for a moment if you don't mind...
Still having issues with both methods... in TWRP, at the install image screen i'm only getting boot and recovery partition options, supposed to have system too right?
Fastboot it hangs for a moment at an error of something about invalid sparsing but continues to flash, apparently successfully, but when i reboot system it just boots back to recovery.

I am using this recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-2-0-touch-recovery-t3402999
After switching to image install, I simply picked the system.img and was able to pick between system, boot and recovery.
Repeated for boot.img as boot...

All the info and installation instructions you need can be found in the release thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
And if you encounter problems along the way, take a look at the troubleshooting guide.

If you have further questions after that, make sure to be specific about what you need help with. "Guide me through it" is a bit too general and is already covered in the links above.

thanks, the first prerequisite is the stock boot.img,, i tried backing it up using miracle box but encountered the 'unstable port' problem, what other possible ways i could extract the boot.img from my phone ?
and btw, i remember asking a guy somewhere and he told me that magisk won't root my device, is that true considering it's a less-known manufacturer ?

I'd try the TWRP route instead. I found this thread after about 2 minutes of searching on XDA (search words "infinix note 4 x572"):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/infinix-one-support-root-twrp-firmware-t3695803
It's a really good idea to use the XDA search, because it often works quite good.
If you want to keep the stock recovery on your device, you can actually just boot the TWRP image instead of flashing it. In that case, the command used in that thread:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
should be changed to:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery recovery.img
If that doesn't work, you can actually make quite easily make a backup of your boot image in TWRP and then patch that file in the Manager, to see if that works better.
If things don't work out in TWRP, make sure to provide the recovery log.

It's very possible... It depends on how stock the Manufacturer has kept Android on your device, what chipset the device has, and so on...

thanks alot for the quick responses, i will try it and reply as fast as possible
okay, i downloaded the twrp recovery image for Note 4, flashed it using Fastboot method successfully,
the problem is when i try to boot into the twrp recovery mode, i tried holding the power menu+ vol.down buttons, it sends me into a black screen with "factory mode" upwards in yellow, no button is working.
i then tried
Code:
adb reboot recovery
the phone reboots and says "No command" under a red triangle.
i then tried to flash the twrp img using sp flash tools, and flashed it successfully but the same errors occur, i can't seem to be able to boot into recovery mode.
i looked up for a solution for the "no command" problem, here's one:
I faced the same problem with nexus 6p. It works when you root immediately after flashing the TWRP. Keep the superSU file in the storage. Get into bootloader. Flash TWRP via fastboot. Without restarting anything, just press volume up/down buttons while in the bootloader to select recovery. TWRP will open. Flash the SuperSU.zip. Then restart the system. Next time, if you open recovery, you won't get the "no command". If you don't flash SuperSU and you try to open recovery later, you will get the "No command".

what i understood is that i shouldn't reboot my device using "fastboot reboot" , he says i should get into recovery mode directly without restarting, idk how to do that since there are no option for it on the screen, i just have
Code:
=> FASTBOOT mode...
on the screen !

unfortunately i never used the sp flash tool before, so i tried flashing a stock rom but the device is now dead with "dram failed" error, i'll try fixing this first
It's tricky trying to help with a device you don't have...
Did you manage to boot to recovery? Usually you use the volume buttons to select the options and then the power button to confirm. You could also just use the fastboot boot option command I wrote earlier. It'll boot straight into TWRP.
There are a few threads for your device around, so if you need help specific to your device, that's the place to go...
everything is fine now,, fixed the device by flashing a rom named (X572-H5312CE-O-180203V55) then used magisk app to patch the included boot.img, flashed the patched boot.img using sp flash tool,, and everything is working fine now,,,
thanks alot
the twrp from the post you provided is for an older firmware, this is why i couldn't get into recovery after i flashed the provided twrp img,, there is no available twrp for the oreo version of the firmware, but i requested one from twrp builder project,, thanks alot, i've learnt alot in the last 24 hours
