So, I broke my Alcatel Idol 4 5.2" screen and two top thirds of the screen don't react to touch(from the crack). Do I have to change the whole screen, or only the glass?

I bought a att tilt used with a broken screen. Thing is the lcd screen looks fine as in i can see the hole screen(no broken pixels or anything). But it seems its cracked below the front glass as i cant feel the cracks. So basically I am asking if the only parts to the display are the lcd screen and the touch screen and the front glass? Cause since it doesn't seem the lcd screen is broke no reason to buy both. And wondering if the touch screen and front glass are two different pieces also.
Thanks for any help.
thanks for the help ...............
You only need the touch panel but you will need to solder 4 end of touch on screen. Also, use 4 scrooves method as it is quicker and faster to get to the screen.
the whole screen can be easily replaced for about $60 for a new screen. just need to disassemble the Tilt, there is a guide around here somewhere on how to do it.
the bottom half of the screen of my colleagues' ace is not responding.
To fix this, can i purchase a new glass digitizer on ebay? Or is there something else wrong?
secondly: is there a difference between just the glass front and the digitzer? Are these separate parts of the phone?
I've recently replaced the broken screen from my sisters' ace, so replacing the glass screen will not be a problem.
Hello, Guys I planning on getting a Note 4 next month do you guys have any problems with your screens
like Light bleed,Dead Pixels, stuck pixels and dust under screens.
I had a bad experience with Apple phones been through 7 iPhone 6 all had Dead/stuck pixels and dust
Had enough with LCD Screens hoping AMOLED screens are problem defect free.

How about reading a post prior to answering ?
Now for my answer: No pixel defects, no stuck pixels, no dust at all.
And of course no light bleeding - this is AMOLED, thus no backlight.

This screen is awesome no complaints here
Thanks, Guys for quick reply cannot wait to get the Gold colour.
Mine had dust under the display glass.
3 or 4 pieces all over the screen each about 0.5-1 millimeter in diameter.
Screens don't get any better on Earth.
Saying that, I have a G906S (5.2" 2560*1440 AMOLED) which had exploded pixels... you could only see it on white backgropund but 3 pixels were mushed up which left a kind of black smoke smudge.
Bcos the ppi is highest for the G906S you could only see the mushed up pixels under a microscope, but the black smoke smudge was plainly visible.

Had a note 3 for 2 years with no screen protector and heavy use, not a single scratch. Within 3 days of owning the note 5 I've got dozens of tiny ones and two sizeable ones! I've ordered screen protectors now but obviously too late. I'm a bit confused as I couldn't find this being a common issue and I haven't changed usage habits (phone always gets its own pocket, rested on a piece of foam at desk)
Same here. Previously use LG nexus 5 without screen protector for a year plus, just a single tiny chip.
Note 5? Just a week without screen protector and 6 visible scratches there already.
I wish ANY of the reviews had mentioned this so I could've taken preventative action.
Same here guys. It's really annoyingn barely putting it in the pocket, you find little little scrstches.. bare annoyingly annoyijg

Try not putting it in a pocket with objects that can scratch the screen.
No offense, but I've never had one scratch on any screen, nor any cracked or broken screen (and never owned or used a screen protector), since I started using cell phones back in 2000.

Neither had I until this phone and like I said I have a dedicated pocket for the phone.
11 months, no screen protector ever and zero scratches
How strange.. I wonder if there's two different revisions.
I've got a P-Smart 2019 and the display has cracked around the tear-drop cutout. Only the display has cracked - The digitizer is still perfect. The phone hasn't been dropped or knocked or bent. The screen literally spontaneously cracked. I bet phone manufactures hear these types of stories all the time, and Huawei's repair centre in Finland are saying that the screen is cracked, therefore it must have been dropped and isn't covered by warranty.
The phone has always been kept in a case, and I replaced the film screen protector with a tempered glass one. When I saw the damaged display I removed the screen protector, and it's clear that the digitizer isn't damaged at all. I'm also certain that the phone wasn't knocked or bent in any way, so how best to handle this with Huawei? I've attached a photo, although from looking at it you can see that the display is broken, but you can't see that the digitizer is perfect.
That's strange, do you think it was a faulty device?
It looks as if something was burnt under it?
P Smart 2019 - hairline crack developed near camera cutout
This happened to me too.
The phone is in a solid protective case.
It has also has a front screen protector.
I have not dropped it or impacted it.
I have not squashed it or scratched it.
A curved 15mm long hairline crack has developed that starts from the camera (or teardrop) cutout at the top of the screen.
I suspect the glass area around the cut out may be weak spot created during the manufacturing process.
I can see no other explanation as the screen was OK one minute, then not the next.
A small search reveals I am not the only person who has discovered an unexplainable hairline crack travelling outward from an origin point ond the circumference of the camera cut out.
The fact that there are multiple cases with the same specific details indicates a high possibility that this could be a common fault with the P Smart 2019.
A weak area of glass at the point where the camera cutout meets the main screen.
Could it be that this weak area could split after an unspecified period of time.
Hence the reason we are beginning to see a gradual occurance / increase of the same specific fault in this particular model since its initial release in approx late 2018 / early 2019?
The P smart 2019 - an otherwise excellent phone.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with this model.
Note - accidental or impact damage cannot be included.
This crack developed on its own.
I will include images of the fault characteristic in another post.
