NFC on my E6553 (with latest 32.4.A.0.160 Nougat 7.1.1) won't turn on. Turning on the NFC toggle makes the option grayed out. My phone's original region was Storefront region with the default Lollipop. Is this a software problem or hardware? How do I solve this?
Wiping NFC data and cache and reinstalling gives this error in the attached photo below:-
Got the same problem with my SO-03G when i flashed it with new firmware using flashtool. Reverted back to original rom from Japan ang voila it works again.

But Storefront region's firmware is still on Lolipop. So you're saying I have to be stuck with Android 5.0 if I want to use NFC?

Do you have make a Backup, before?
Try flashing only the baseband from the newer FTF.

Well at least for rooting and then updating to a pre-rooted 4.3 ROM using recovery for locked bootloaders

What have you done in past with phone? Did you install some ROM? If yes, did you do factory reset after going to stock?

Try a reflash with Odin a dedicated firmware for your area.
Reboot into stock recovery (remove the battery, put it back, press simultaneously vol.up, home and power buttons). You have to give a factory reset and restart. Helped me regain my baseband and network access. I mention that my phone locked to the network (Vodafone) but I installed the firmware for another network, but also for my area.
If don't work, service for Samsung is single solution...
@mathei I do this many times. But without result. @shut_down no
everything was working fine on my xperia zr(c5502) until one day when for the first time the phone had its battery completely exhausted somehow the cellular service was lost and the phone got locked by mcafee internet security and was always asking for the pin at the start.even after entering the correct password it would just get stuck at this part and would never unlock.so i flashed the stock firmware 4.2.2.it was so unstable and was rebooting continously so i flashed the its first stock firmware 4.1.2 which removed the lock and reboot problems but the baseband is now unknown and no imei too and so no cell service and wifi isnt working.i am currently trying to flash the different firmware files and the baseband files of c5502 and c5503 to see if the baseband gets updated.before this problem started,i had never rooted the phone nor unlocked the bootloader or do anything of this sort.somebody please tell me what to do .has anyone xperienced this same error or baseband unknown error for zr???? :crying:

Hi sir, I need your help.
this problem I guess starting when I tried to change my network mode through xposed (FYI: in my country ID doesn't fully support LTE yet, but I try enable all network type) then my phone automatically set to LTE mode and suddenly got turn off when I unlock screen. at the moment I realize that my C6602 isn't LTE
FYI I tried to solve it, here is I've tried:
-Flash stock FTF
-Restore NANDROID but failed (CWM error while restore /system, I've regenerating md5 and it's fine)
-Relock BL
-Remove SDCard
-Remove SIMCard
few main problems:
-when I discharging, sometimes it work normally (didn't turn off) except if I setting my clock time, open camera, and few apps it's suddenly turn off
-however if I tried turn on my phone, it's stuck at sony logo then turn off again and I can't turn it on except if my phone charging it's can boot perfectly
-when I succeed use my phone (with charging attached) then I check network mode there's LTE mode !! how can I fix this network mode? I desire like before (WCDMA preferred/GSM, there's no LTE mode)
so sorry if this thread similar with others but I'm already search and surfing any thread it no result
------------------------------------------------------------------
now my phone on stock 4.3 / LB / without root

which country or carrier is the phone from? make sure you download and flash the appropriate ftf that is only for c6603. flash it with flashtool and it should boot up nicely. if you are having troubles on 4.3 ftf, then possbile try the lower version (4.2.2 or 4.1.2) and then connect it with pc suite and update from there

then it must be a hardware problem the best thing you can do is get your phone at a sony verified repair store [another thing you could possibly do is a factory reset but it is not recommended since it will delete your phone's data]
