Great camera on this phone but some of the camera settings dont save for the next time i open. Beauty setting always seems to jump back to halfway even if i dial it down to zero. also it always defaults to portrait mode even when i turn it off. This happens when i dont use the camera for an hour or day, when i jump back in the settings arent saved.
Same here. Very annoying..

Is there a way to force the phone to always be in landscape mode? I use my phone as GPS on my motorcycle (KLR650) and have it attached the the handlebars sideways. This works out great except whenever I turn or hit a bump the phone goes from landscape to portrait mode several times which lags out my GPS application and causes it to quit logging my route... This is especially when I am off-roading and NEED to keep track of my route in case I need to turn around and make my way back out.
Possible solutions might be:
-Tricking the phone into thinking it is open all the time...
-Editing the parameters on the accelerometers to think the phone is always on its side...
I don't know how to do either... I've looked for apps but I can't find any.

PM Loccy, the guy who does the better browser, and ask him if there is a way to lock the phone into landscape, because he has a setting for the browser to always be locked into landscape.
I bought a Tab P1010 a fortnight ago. Generally been happy with it, but I've noticed something thats begining to annoy.
Just prior to going into standby, the backlight level drops slightly before going off. That seems to be the normal way things work.
However, on mine, the level goes to that stage randomly. Touching the screen may bring it back up after 5 seconds or so, but not straight away. And it happens even when I'm scrolling the screen and there has been activity going on.
Any idea?
Or have I got a return on my hands?
do you have "auto" set on your brightness?
I find when i have brightness set to auto it can go duller or brighter seemingly at random (particularly irritating if im reading)
i mostly manage my brightness level myself
Dont know if this is related to your issue ... good luck

lol I feel such a fool!
I was fully aware of the auto back light setting and had already set it to the unchecked.
However at the weekend, I did a full factory reset. All settings had gone. However, it does show up how useless that setting is as the changes seem very random!
Cheers for the reminder.
It has been a few months now and I have dropped my phone a few times since then, although no noticeable damage. Few things that occur:
-Sometimes auto-screen rotate does not work and I will have to restart my phone.
-When I take pictures, the result of the photo is turned a different way and I would have to manually rotate the photo back.
-Sometimes when I take a picture in superior auto mode, it gives me a 1 shot burst. I'm not holding it either. Restarting phone solved this problem.
Two issues that have been around since I first got my phone:
-I have more wi-fi issues with my Z1 than my Z. It often drops signal.
-Camera button sometimes does not work while phone display is off.... however I believe the kitkat update fixed it as I no longer have issues.
When in auto mode the phone anyways made the pictures as burst shot for me, it didn't matter when it was only just one picture.
And about the rotation issues, don't you disable rotation (if not, try enabling and dialing it next time it won't rotate) ?
Sent from HTC One m8, or maybe not anymore
I also have the rotation issue, sometimes when I play a game that relies on tilt, it doesn't work until I restart the phone.
Also my compass and magnetic field sensor do not work, is anyone else getting the same problems?

Its annoying seeing the focusing disk appear every 2-5 secs when it tries to auto focus. How do i turn it off? Can't find options in camera settings. I want it to only focus when i touch the screen. Thanks.
this was annoying me a lot too this morning, when i was trying to take pictures of my Note 3 to sell it. on top of the constant "focusing", it was damn hard to manage to get an in-focus picture of the phone! hopefully we can find a way..
It's a known problem. Maybe an update from Samsung will address it.

BAD ASS NOTE 4
I like my nexus 6 camera's quality of photos but am a bit frustrated with the time it takes to start up, especially from the lock screen. Part of the problem for me is that sliding left from the kick screen often doesn't work. It offers to unlock instead. Sometimes after trying and failing to go straight to camera a couple of times, when I eventually unlock and then try to start the camera it informs me that the camera has crashed. I use Chroma now but had the issue while on stock. I predominantly use HDR+ mode (I leave it on all the time) Any solutions anyone?
