Tasker not triggering (or with big lag) when updating Google app - Tasker Tips & Tricks

Hi,
Anyone else having problems with Tasker not triggering tasks (and widgets in general not updating) after updating Google app (7.6.17.21 and the last 3 updates)?
Reverting back to the factory installed version solves it - and everything runs smoothly again.
Thanks,
Simon

Yes, it seems to be an issue. There's a thread about it over on the Tasker developer's Google group, and I've seen a few mentions of it over on Reddit as well.

And for those who don't have time to read through @SimonSP link, just go to the bug report pent (tasker's creator) made and tap the star by the bug report title. That'll help get Google's attention.

[Q] Location Issues with Non-Google Apps

Since yesterday I've been experiencing issues with location features on non-Google apps. Specifically:
Waze boots then FCs.
Facebook can't find my location when I try to check in, but CAN find my location if I tap the location icon when writing a status update.
Google apps are unaffected. Navigation works fine and check ins via the G+ app also work properly.
The only things I've done since the last time I used Waze or Facebook was to install Rootkeeper and attempt to install the latest OTA. The OTA installation failed at the bootloader so I don't think any system changes were made.
Regardless, I've since uninstalled Rootkeeper and flashed the odexed, updated stock ROM that viperboy posted but that hasn't fixed the problem.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I am also experiencing issues with my location update. This started after the update was installed on my device. My phone reads "current location" but never updates. I have rebooted many times but no fix.

I am encountering the same issue. I justed restored my One to a unrooted stock state last night. This morning ran into the same issue of Waze closing when trying to launch it. Also noticed that the location displayed on the phone now says ""My Location", Yelp and Foursquare will not display useful info unless I get a GPS signal. Foursquare shows me results all over the globe (Tel Aviv, Sai Paulo) and when the map appears in Yelp it is off the coast of West Africa....

Lol. Wow. I wonder if anyone else has this issue. If so, HTC needs to push a fix soon.

Well looks like a factory restore has resolved my issues. Thank goodness for Helium.
Factory reset worked for me as well. Thanks, Helium!!
I hate to do a factory reset when I just setup my phone. I'm not rooted yet so I can't make a backup.

I cannot post links yet but it looks like Google is aware of it. Seems to be limited to HTC devices so far. Looks to be related to the recent Google play services update. Makes me wonder what HTC did that could cause this....

Same issue here... I can't even get a basic (tower-triangulated) location in Google Maps with my GPS off.

Android 4.3 Support for Applications

Today after a reboot I noticed a little issue with app support for not-supported-by-the-developer-anymore like XDA Developers official app and tTorrent pro unfortunately.
It looks like that it is to do with the new classes which is not supported by the ClassLoader somehow.
What applications do you have which force close or in this case unsupported since you have updated to Android 4.3?
I had DroidWall completely stop working (when enabled, the internet basically broke for everything). I switched to Android Firewall by jtschohl, which works fine.

Google disallowed it on purpose for security purposes.
Android 4.3 really needs repairs...

I had problems with MX Player, but fortunately there is a working beta version on its official page, and Asfalt 7, witch forces close and I didn't find any workaround yet.
I have problem with floating touch app, now doesn't disappear from notification center

[DEV] Pebble 2.0 with AppStore [APK] [OFFICIAL] + [BETA]

You can test test the new firmware just read instructions here : https://developer.getpebble.com/2/getting-started/
Just install the new app and flash the new firmware on your pebble.
All previous watchapps need to be recompile in 2.0 version to be compatible again.
Warning : It's currently under beta and should be reserved for developers only.
>>>Final 2.0 in the Play Store : HERE

Thanks! Going to give it a shot now. Have you noticed any improvements?
SDK 2.0 is a big change from the previous version, but as the title above, it's in BETA and IMHO is not ready for a daily driver yet.
The most annoying thing if you're on Android and running it is the major 'settings' bug for 2.0 watchfaces/watchapps. Can't seem to go into the watch/app setting without rebooting the Pebble, and this has to be done every single time.
Why did v2 break nearly every existing watchapp? From what I see, all the old functionality is still there. Using the api version info in the watchapp (I think it's in the header) would allow for legacy apps to continue to function.
Imo, breaking existing apps is almost always unnecessary...
Beta2 is available new android apps and new firmware to flash.
Currently in BETA and works only with the new version of apps, compile with SDK 2.0.
I use it daily and have no specific problems.
Beta 2 is out. Only problem I'm having is with Glance. Every once in a while, it will start vibrating non stop for about 5 seconds, then reboot...
I have not much problem with glance but the Pebble keeps disconnecting and reconnecting by itself even though the phone is next to the Pebble.

I just got my pebble Friday. I upgraded to the beta 2.0 on Saturday. Everything seems to be working fine with 2.0 and Glance.
Beta 3 is now available, feel free to flash it
The Android app fixes a large number of JS-related bugs.
The Android app fixes a bug where all messages sent to android would be automatically acknowledged. Your application should acknowledge app messages.
Some new user features in the firmware: Notification settings (with Do Not Disturb), better Alarms
Lots of small UI and stability fixes in Pebble.
Where's the 'Do not disturb' feature in beta 3?
Edit: Disregard, I found it.
Beta 4 is available :
Fixed a problem where the iOS app would get killed after a few minutes in the background
Lots of Data Logging fixes on the firmware and on Android
Added timestamps on accelerometer samples
Improved error handling for PebbleKit JS apps on iOS and Android
I don't see beta 4, the link shows beta 1 file.
Is that file the new beta 4?
BC the beta 1 I downloaded doesn't fully work.

haven't had any issues with Beta 5. maybe do a factory reset? also delete your dalvik-cache and see if that helps.
Seems to be working better, I think it may be linked to glance. Going to try it with out that app installed.

Multi window apps not working properly

Ok now I've never had issues using multi window with my slingbox app but I cannot get it to work properly! I used to always watch the game on slingbox app and look at my fantasy team without issues.... Now when I interact with second app other than slingbox app it stops and goes to connect screen! This also happens while I search for opponent in my clash of clans game! It always worked before but same thing if I interact with second app it resets the game! This is frustrating the f out me so if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated!

By the way it's not just my Note 8 my nephews does same thing.... His is Verizon and mine is at&t variant! I'm really hoping it's a setting I'm missing.... I've tried a few things in developer options and nothing!
Sent from my SM-N950U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I also have this issue. I'm on Verizon. I used to be able to play nfl mobile and waze at the same time on my note 5 but the nflmobile will stop if I touch anything on the waze app. Same thing applies with nfl mobile and any football fantasy app (nfl, espn). Would be a shame for such a powerhouse of phone to now be limited.

I'm currently having the same issues. Would be nice to know if its just on some device or every device. Do you have a different launcher installed other than the native Samsung? I currently have Nova Launcher installed, not sure if that is the problem but if I remeber correctly when I first obtained my Note 8 I didn't have this issue. I just realized it recently, not sure if its because of the Update or the Launcher.
I was running the stock Samsung experience and had the same issue. I can't say if it did prior to the update though.

Same issues unlocked N8. If i open a game (Dominations) and Notes...the game turns all pink and it times out.
@On another topic - does anyone know if we can work 2 apps in landscape? I'm quite surpised that the note with its unusual long shape cant do multi window on landscape
Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
I am also running Nova launcher but apparently that's not the issue! I have a feeling that the issue started when Android went to native multi window so its an Android issue! Apperently when Samsung provided the os with multi window everything worked! I could be wrong but it makes sense and I believe multi window came on nougat but it's just a hunch. Regardless it's really annoying and I hope someone knows about it and is working to resolve the issue!

I was thinking the same thing, but then was wondering why I can't find anything on the web regarding this problem. As if it doesn't bother anyone else or it might just be my device that is having this issue.
Yeah did a search before even posting a question and came upon this thread. I guess only a few care about this lol. Hopefully a solution does comeby :/
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I have been running Waze and another traffic app next to each other in multi window mode (portrait and landscape mode works). Initially it was working more or less fine. It does happen that if the traffic app is the active screen, Waze would not show any updates on the map. Waze does show updates on directions as text on top of the screen. However after the last November update, only the active screen is working and the other screen does not update. I noticed if you have two apps that plays media, it cannot be played simultaneously. Using Whatsapp and something like Youtube doesn't freeze the media playing.
Anybody found the solution yet?

Troublesome apps

Over the last 3 days apps, specifically Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Samsung Internet and YouTube, won't function properly. They come up with pop-ups asking for a restart but they never do. An uninstall/reinstall from the Play store fixes the problem only to come back after some time. What's going on?

I noticed the same thing with YouTube. I thought it had to do with substratum theme. A complete reinstall fixed my issue as well.
Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk
This is for me a common Substratum Issue / Behavior, I've noticed this also under some LineageOS Devices.
As mentioned before a complete reinstall of the Substratum-Theme solves this in 99%, the other 1% is mostly solved by updating the Theme if an update is available.
Gesendet von meinem SM-N950F mit Tapatalk
I tried uninstalling my substratum theme but the problem persisted. It is mostly Facebook that's buggy now. I also forgot to mention YouTube but it's working at the moment. I'd really hate to have to hard reset coz I've gotten the phone to a point where I am really comfortable with it already.

I'm experiencing the same issue with WhatsApp. I've reinstalled the WhatsApp overlay, uninstalled the overlay and even completely reinstalled WhatsApp. It still crashes and asks me to 'restart WhatsApp'. The funny thing is that I'm still able to answer voice and video calls and I'm able to reply when a new notification pop ups. When I try to open the app it force closes itself.
