The p8lite wifi performs really well, but mine has a problem which is common among this phone...
I believe the wifi antenna is dead, bcs i can only connect to my network when the phone is placed closed right next to the wifi router...

Mine is still working, but only in very short distance...but the weird thing is, the phone is still able to detect the network far away but won't connect,
Which confuses me wether if its software or hardware problem
Others like gps, bluetooth works fine
i think the problem have to do with the usage of the phone, in the back pants pocket as example.
Why ?
When you go down or sit down without taking the phone it is press and the inside contacts go out from place and even sometimes creating curvature in the phone.
I think it have to do with how we use it.

HUAWEI P8 LITE BENDING
.
It's common for the WiFi to degrade, and I did not escape that curse. It has issues connecting, and it's come to the point where I have to be in a ~7 meter area around the router if I want any reasonable speeds (or even to connect...) This is a budget low quality phone after all.

I bought my p8 lite last year(first quarter), drop in water twice, dropped with out protector once (which earned my phone a crack) but the screen still function, the only non functioning or sometimes it function(dont know why) is the power lock button.. wifi and network signal still working great ..

Is there ANY possibility that the Xperia X1 has a hidden accelerometer in it? As it was HTC who manufactured it and as HTC loves to hide some cool features of some devices, do you think X1 has an accelerometer hiden in it?
And IF it has... how can we discover it? Any ways or only if HTC or Sony tell us?
Thanks in advance!
hasn't someone disassembled the X1?
Im pretty sure they didn't find an accelerometer
I've seen a video of Xperia getting dismantled, Havn't seen anything that looks like a Accelerometer.
Does someone have a screenshot how the hardware supose to look like?
See this: http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/forms/blobs/retrieve.cgi?attachment_id=1028928&native_or_pdf=pdf
Pix from dismantheling... Thanks to: XavierGr
i've tried all the usual accelerometer drivers and tweaks and they don't work so I presume there's not one.
Is there a hardware dump utility like lspci that we can run to see what's there?
View Poll Results: Xperia X1 has a hidden accelerometer?
Yes, it has 1 4.00%
Maybe it has 7 28.00%
No, it hasnĀ“t 17 68.00%

I dont know if it has a g sensor or not but if it does it is well hidden. I thought the X1 only had A-GPS too until i found a program that unlocks the real FULL GPS so it might still be possible.
Maybe you will have to go for the X2 if you really need the accelerometer

Huh? There's still speculation about the X1 having an accelerometer?? Thought that's like history already.
thats easy.
just let it drop from like 2 meters height. if it accellerates then it should have an basic accelerometer. if it drops at constant speed then it doesnt.
if it doesnt drop at all then it should have an hooverometer.
i would test it for you but i am currently at a spacestation right now and the test would show up "hooverometer" all the time.
if it drops to the ground you should hear a noise. if it is a loud and clear "CLANK!" then it has definitely an accelerometer. if it is a relatively soft "clank!" then it doesnt have one. its probably very hard to distinguish between "CLANK!" and "clank!". i suggest you record the noise and upload it here to have another poll!
even if there is nothing mentioned in the white-paper and not a single driver available and no sign of an application whatsoever ... this conspiracy should be solved once and for all. also there is still the "tv-out issue" to solve. yesterday my x1 was floating near my tv and the tv-screen did still show a picture!!!
good luck,

Would be pretty funny if they had hidden a g-sensor in it just for fun...
If there was a hidden iphone in my x1 I would start crying.
It has an accelerometer. It's found right next to the extra RAM and the TV-Out port, all three are clearly labelled if you care to open your X1 and find out. The best part? They're all activated simply by pushing a little pixie shaped button near the bottom of the handset's interior.

A dev could have a bit of fun with that. Add an accelerometer, hide it and don't tell anyone. Then patch the device 6 months down the line with an update that makes the screen switch off whenever the phone is moving and switch on whenever it's stationary.
Worth the lolz? The guys in charge of the repairs/complaints departments would likely say no.
its pretty amazing to hold the iphone 4 like this way.....
this can avoid making the signal drops..
iphone 4 is so expensive(more than 7000 yuan, some taobao's shop offer 10000+ ,Leo only about 3600 yuan)......
And iphone 4 signal has big problems...
I don't like it.
you would have thought a major bug like the signal drop would be picked up at the testing stage its just a good example that Apple cannot wait to get there piece of crap out to the public before its ready
Kinda makes you wonder if APPL pulled all their test models after that one got found in the bar. Would make since if they nixed the testers right then and they never found out about the whole "Don't touch your phone" thing.

They're claiming the problem is down to their calculation of the number of bars to show depending on the signal, saying that the iPhone4 adds 2 bars, so if you have 4 bars, may really only be 2, and by blocking the signal by holding it in your left hand, the signal drops by 2 bars making it really have 0 bars, and that's the problem, not the hardware.
Ok, in that case, why is the iPhone4 so poor at picking up signal only managing 2 bars when other phones with internal aerials manage 4, and why does fitting a rubber case/scotch tape around the edge stop the signal attenuation caused by user's left hands?
PS I cannot be held responsible for any liquid damage caused to electrical equipment while perusing this thread
Here is another way to hold the iPhone 4.

Comparing how many bars of signal strength you get isn't a good way to compare signal strength, as it is the programmers who decide what bars get shown for what signal strength (-113 dBm (weakest) to -51dBm (strongest)).
Page 2 of the iPhone 4 Anandtech review covers the antenna issue very thoroughly, if you're interested in a good read.
Alright, so I have been fairly certain that I caused this problem but I wanted to make sure.
My gf dropped her HTC Vivid and broke the LCD and digitizer. I ordered new ones on ebay, both an LCD and digitizer, and installed them. The only problem is that after the installation the wifi and GPS on the phone were extremely weak. The wifi only works about 10 feet from a router, any further and it just doesn't show up. The GPS just says locking on target forever. I'm pretty sure the damage was caused by me and not by her dropping it, but I can't be sure. Wifi seemed to be working fine even with half the LCD and glass obscuring the view of android.
Even though I was pretty sure it was a hardware thing caused by me, I was scared to take the phone apart again after getting it all nice and put together so I tried unlocking, rooting, and installing CM 10.
CM10 works great, but the Wifi and GPS issues remain.
So I guess I need to take it apart again and put it back together very slowly and hope that this time any loose components or what not are put back into place properly....
Does anyone know where I can find any schematics online so that I can be sure to be EXTRA careful with the Wifi and GPS antenna? This way I can also inspect them to make sure they aren't damaged.

Tearing down the phone isn't the problem. I need to know exactly what is related to wifi and GPS to make sure I pay extra attention to those parts. I can't seem to find it yet.
edit:
I took the whole thing apart again, I put it together piece by piece very carefully following every breakdown and the Wifi and GPS are still incredibly weak and not working properly. Ideas?

Looks like BT+wifi share an antennae and GPS has it's own. Both towards the top. My guess is it's just a metal tab that makes contact by the pressure from the case, but I haven't had mine apart to confirm that.

So apparently many people using the Nexus 5 are experiencing inaccurate GPS positions when on Device Only mode (using ONLY GPS, no WiFi or 3G). In order to investigate this issue further, and to find out whether or not this is a hardware issue, I would like you guys to report your findings in regards to GPS accuracy when using GPS only. Please note that I am not talking about how long it takes to get a fix but only the accuracy of that fix.
P.S. This is the thread on google's forums discussing this issue: http://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/nexus/EkllXr0ZlZM

With GPS only I get a lock in under 10 seconds outside with >20 satellites visible. Accuracy 5m. So no problem here.
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5 mit Tapatalk
I haven't noticed a problem here. I will test more today. I did notice last week that it locks on to half the satellites that my S4 locks on to. It also reports slightly lower signal for each. However, the accuracy is the same or better than my S4 at 0-15 ft while the S4 is 10-30.

Being indoors does tend to negatively affect accuracy...
Having said that, my nexus 5 manages to pinpoint me to the exact room I'm in.
outdoors isn't great but it will lock in a few seconds. but i am unable to obtain a lock indoors at all. pretty lame
overall it definitely could be improved

is true for me too. if i turn on airplane mode, i got a lock of 2-3 sats indoors. can't get any more than 1 with network connection enabled. accuracy was crap in both tho

Hmm so it seems that some people may not have the issue... maybe they all have defected units?
Hi! My Nexus sees and locks a lot of satellites, more than other phones that I had, and very fast, but... I've recorded a track in bike and the track isn't too accurate. Is not a big problem, I can live with it, but I'll hope a better result when I had 15 satellites locked and 3m of precision...
Try it with location set to device only next time.
This is the first phone that was able to get GPS lock inside the building at work (from cold boot no less!). Nexus 4 could not along with the Galaxy Note I (both had GPS and GNSS support).
I've seen the error go down to a few metres sometimes.
Mine is good with GPS only on, fast and accurate locks. Haven't tried navigating more than half an hour on it through.

My speculations are that those are the connection for wifi antennas. Last year, I was changing the LCD, ive made some research that on some cheap LCDs they dont have that connector, and that people are complaining their Wifi becoming non-existent after using that screen. I brought the OEM one that costs abit more, about 27 USD in aliexpress and i notice no wifi issues what so ever (apart from the distance being ****, true to its original condition lmao). Another guess is that its for the touchscreen grounding i guess??

That would make some sense... my wifi performance on 2.4GHz is just miserable, it struggles to find the SSID even if I'm standing next to the router.
Interestingly enough, the same router puts out a 5GHz SSID and that one is mostly fine.
Now, if these connectors have something to do with wifi I still can't seem to find the parts online. Only the coaxial cable shows up, and I thought that was the only antenna connector for wifi...

I think you need to refer back on the original part of the screen. From my knowledge, these are a part of the frame of the screen assembly, so you can always transfer the OEM/Original old parts to your new screen. Or maybe next time make sure to buy the oem version that has complete features like what i did. I hope it helps!
