I bought p10 about 4 months ago and it was working good but recently I have a problem with the autofocus as all images farther than few centimeters from camera becomes super blurry but the strange thing that the monochrome mode works fine and the sharpness is great. Please help, does anyone have this problem before and solved it and is it a hardware or software issue??

I was reading the different posts a few days ago, and i was (and still am) convinced that the problem is a hardware problem. The right part of my screen was out of focus (color sensor). I bought the replacement part, and i'm waiting for it to arrive (40 days to Argentina), so i decided to try the different solutions while the replacement arrives. If i hit the phone with my hand, or against the table, nothing happens. (always checking that the monochrome sensor is OK). What worked for me, was to stand the phone on a table, and let it fall screen down (check the table is clean of any particule that could damage the screen). I did this a couple of times....and now is far better. Not perfect as the monochrome, but i can take a picture now. It seems that the zooming parts are somehow stucked. I'm still replacing this component...but it might help you.

Hi,
I have this problem, I have spent days/weeks trying to resolve it. I even replaced the camera lens with replacement original lens TWICE. No fix!.
Today i rooted the phone and flashed a different firmware to see if it is a software related problem. - NO FIX again!.
I tried it with the phone covers off.. to see if its a lens issue (scratch/scuff/mark...etc) - NO FIX.
I tried tapping the lens, hitting it...etc. - NO FIX.
I just read your comment above about standing it up and letting it fall on its face. Like you... it works now, but it is not 100% perfect like before.
Did you try anything else to fix your phone?

Honestly... I just "fixed" the camera a few hours ago... So, no, I haven't tried anything else. The temporary fix is fading away... So I might do the process again. If you do something else.. Please tell me! Jaja...

I hope you didn't buy the camera lens? because it is definitely not the lens.
It is another component on the main board causing this issue for sure. Unless i have 3 faulty camera lenses sitting here.

I did. But it wasn't that much money (11 dollars) ... Here in Argentina that spare part would've costed at least 200dollars. So... What do you think it might be? Isn't there like a component's list.... Or something like that? The thing is that I'm really happy with the device. I switched from a lumia 950 to this Huawei p10.... Mainly for the camera and the OS... So, the fact that it fails 2months after the purchasing is.... Fu*#d. At least the monochrome sensor is perfect. I wish I could leave as a default that sensor. (I was into bnw photos anyway)

Well, like digital cameras and DSLR.'s..etc you would think the lens is a moving part, so it is the first thing causing the problem. But for me it wasn't and your problem is the same as mine. By all means since you have the new camera lens coming, fit it. But fit it without keeping your hopes up.
I have absolutely no idea what is causing it. Before i changed the lens i would of bet money it was the lens.
But as i say, i have ordered the lens twice. So in total i have 3 lenses here and all do the same thing. I tried factory resetting phone and erasing cache before and after fitting lenses.
And most recently i changed the firmware completely. So it isn't software related and it isn't the lens, so its other hardware problem. Maybe processor chip?.
What i do know is, i dropped my P10 many many times. Maybe its damaged. Maybe i will strip it down to the system board and put the system board in the oven for 10 minutes or something. Maybe, or maybe i cut my losses and sell it as faulty. I love this P10, it is for me a great phone. I have been using a S7 edge since the camera went faulty 2 months ago and, it is NOT as good as the P10 for sure.
If i make any progress i will let you know, add me to skype if you like to.

What did it say on the repair sheet?. In your case since you dropped it, it was probably a lens issue.
In my case, and others, the lens just randomly went blurry and not focusing unless close up. This is most certainly a design fault.

Thanks for that, it seems Huawei doesn't give much away about how they fixed this issue.
It certainly isn;t by firmware update since i've physically tried it myself.
I would be interesting to see though what version they put on yours.
Can you go to SETTINGS> ABOUT PHONE and either take a screen shot of that page or let us know the info on there? Obviously blank out your IMEI number for your own safety.

I've taken it to Vodafone store as its on contract

Dropped mine the other day and have this issue now, shame as it's a great phone, going to have to bite the bullet and send it off.
One time I have dropped this and has broken, all my other phones have dropped multiple times with no issue, shame the main camera isn't better made ?

I had the same problem with main color camera all blurry on the right side. I don't remember dropping my phone but looks like even carelessly putting in on the table can damage the camera. I had it repaired under warranty.

Hi, me too : i had that problem with the P10. The repair man called it the camera ic and fix it then, return Back to the same problem.
please if new in that.
thank u

EDIT:
I have noticed that there is a missing part on the new bored but I assumed its would be fine as it me be and after market replacement. But with the new bored installed I don't get signal or sound from the rear speaker! It does charge in my computer and from the wall but it's now a bit tedious with no signal and no sound.
Broken port board -
New board -
any advice would be massively grateful

Not very difficult to deduce that you made a mistake when replacing it. No you should follow the video on YouTube for possible repairs - to be honest: I think now would be a good time for a repair center - not ruin more by trying yourself.

Tbh theres n9thing that can go wrong its a simple unscrew of 9 screws to take or the back plastic.
Then 3 screws to take the speaker casing off, then take off the ribon cable and atenna.
Install then new one.
Its £60 at the repair centre as the it was broken because of the previous owners fault and cannot be mended under warrenty.

If there's nothing that can go wrong: why do you have a problem?
Re: need help with signal
Well there shouldn't be anything wrong I should say but it's just a bit weird iv just put in the old chip bored with the broken usb slot and that pics up signal.
Yet the new one charges fines yet doesn't pic up signal

You got a bunk board.
You need to get a new board from a more reputable manufacturer.
---------- Post added at 03:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:49 AM ----------
I think that your replacement is NOT OEM. Look at the labeling.
Mine looks exactly like your. The only thing I've noticed with mine, is although I have a signal, in places where I never dropped before, it drops
out. Does anyone know if the "tape" on the factory one is conductive, and is acting like some sort of passive radiator for the GSM antenna?
It will peel off the old board. I noticed that both my original & replacement (I've since ordered another board from a different vendor) have the
same revision stamps & other info. Both boards appear identical, except for the gray/silver tape. The factory one has it, the replacement
does not.
Well they guy I got it from on eBay told me it was an oem and art but now looking at it its missing a chip as on the oem part there are 3 in a line the new one doesn't have the middle one and yeah it doesn't have the foil on the back either and I think this my be a factor as well
I got the new board for £8.99 as well so I wouldn't have thought it was a genuine oem part.

Iv asked the guy for a refund but now he's started to give weak reply back. He's only selling this board but tbf it is my fault as well as I went on what he said and also he has the oem part photo.
I'm gonna have a look for one on amazon as I never normally use ebay.
This is what his page looked like as I capt it and the oem photo he's using. My bad tho really

Here is a dealer on ebay who does sell exact part with the tape in the back
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-USB-Cha...153?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ac1421059
Now I just came to realize that the 2 usb ports I bought from china don't have the antenna tape in the back, other than that, the part is exactly the same. My replaced part works good, charges the phone and antenna works fine. BUT BUT...Now that the OP mentioned about lack of signal and the other person mentioned about dropped calls; I seem to have the same issue. My signal was weak to begin with in my office now I have almost no signal in my home as well. In order to make calls, I have to be next to a window. I am wondering if the antenna tape in the back really does make the difference in getting good signal and bad. I am not sure as I live in dominican republic and the signal changes from time to time as the cell company turns on a tower and shuts off another one to reduce costs. I wonder if anyone could check the tape in the back to see if its just a plastic take or some sort of metal reflective material? I wonder if I can make something similar to improve my signal. Unfortunately I threw away my original bad part so I can't go back to it to compare the difference in the new and old usb port. So please if you are going to peel off the tape from the back of USB port board of your n7000, take pictures and do list your observation.
Note to the person who says there is a missing chip on the new board::
you had mentioned there was a chip missing on the new board. I saw that AT&T i717 charging port has 3 chips so you may have the wrong usb port to begin with.

The reason iv noticed about the oem bored having three chips is because I took it to a friend at and ex local Sammy repair store. The ones he had in had the exact same tape on the back and the three chips in a row.
If you look at my replacement there isn't any rape and there's only 2 chips. What I'm thinking is that the missing chip must be for sound and the tape on the rear must be fore the antenna? Just a guess. He wants £20 for that chip and tbf I didn't get it because I didn't have the cash on me at that time hence I got the one on eBay.
Regarding your signal, must be due to the network and not down to the board I'm assuming as my note atm has got the new chip in so I can at least charge it without having to take out the battery. When I have the new board in I don't get any signal at all it only shows up as a circle with a link through. So if your picking up signal, sound and can charge you must have the right one I assume?

[Q] HTC ONE lost camera focus

Hi!
I am using HTC ONE about 10 days. No drops, no hits against walls or anything. 5 minutes ago wanted to take a picture and suddenly focus went "offline"
Camera makes that noise when you are focusing, but nothing happens. I rebooted phone, but nothing changed.
Am I the first one with this problem?
Solutions?
Thanks!
edit: factory reset did not help
I think the problem is optical image stabilization which is/are jammed. I don't hear that "click" sound when starting camera app. That click sound means that IS started to work.
sorry for my bad grammar. Not my native language.

Hi Please see my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288668&page=3
same problem...This might be big issue
I think my problem is different. After night I realized that if I don't use ONE for several hours than focus works for ~5 sec. I start Camera app and can focus one time. When camera focus then image stays sharp for like 5 sec and then goes all blur. And after that focus is not working and I'm back to where I started. So everythink works for like 5 sec and then all goes wrong. After some hours I can focus one more time and again - all stops after some seconds. First time I see something like that.
I've got the same problem. I honestly think the only solution is to exchange for a new phone.
try change iso manually

I had the same problem and tried to play with the Iso settings, and i change it manually on 200,and it worked for me,now it focuses on a landscape photo just well.in the indoors,i let iso automatic and it focuses fine,i guess is a software issue, and they'll solved it with the next update
throw the phone very hard onto your bed. that should unjam the sensor
Got the same problem. Got worse over time. Now it won't focus at all.
There's no other way than send it to repair. Hope I don't get problems with the unlocked bootloader...

Yes, the phone is gonna go to htc Germany Hope they fix it. As long as there is no S-off, I have no other chance than hope.
I already have been anxiously following the S-off announcement ("very soon "). But time goes by and there is no s-off yet
Well, let's keep fingers crossed.

Well I sent it too from germany (o2), repairing company is Arvato. Arvato declines repairing when bootloader is open...
Well, I had long discussions with HTC because here in Switzerland HTC only offers three days of DOA, while Samsung, Apple, Nokia and other all have 14 days.
I noticed the camera problem (which got worse over time) on the 5th day, so out of DOA. I finally got them to accept to exchange the phone on DOA terms. So, the phone probably goes to HTC directly, hopefully not to some repair company.
But considering your case: Germany has much more consumer friendly laws than Switzerland. I am pretty sure, the seller needs to prove (!) that you are responsible for the defect within the first 6 months. Otherwise be must repair the phone. I think an unlocked bootloader is no proof that you have damaged the camera. I would talk with them and tell them that they must abide to the law. It should be must easier than here in Switzerland.

I can confirm this still happens some times above 90% battery, I think this is unrelated
hello i have the same problem
after i dropped my phone camera cannot focus on far objects then 15cm.
object further then 15 cm are blurry.
factory reset didnt help.
Same issue! I've posted a bit about it in Page 10 of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45010584
Does anyone with a Google Play Edition ROM have this issue? A user of XDA suggested that it is possibly only affecting AOSP ROM users.
I spoke to someone at HTC here in the UK and he basically said that they have NO grounds to refuse to repair it under warranty if the fault you return it for is not caused by something you have done, either damage or by unlocking and flashing. I think they are out of order to charge you to repair a phone that is faulty when you unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with the fault.
I just sent mine back because the shots were all blurred unless doing macros. I had the same issue as a previous poster aswell, the click when you open the camera only happened about once every dozen or so times I opened it, even then the shots were still blurred. I sent it back with a relocked bootloader, stock ROM and tampered flag still present and they have repaired mine and I'm awaiting its return from UPS.

When you find out what was fixed can you let us know? And if it actually fixed the issue?
Just been reading this as I have the same problem. No close focus for me, but far focus was ok-ish. Gave it a few slaps on my thigh and it seems to be more or less ok again for normal focus conditions, although anything under 30cm distance isn't going to focus at all. It's been driving me mad for weeks now.

There's no other way than send it to repair. Hope I don't get problems with the unlocked bootloader...

Hardware MOD to improve GPS and eliminate lags on ZE550KL

Hello, after many many attempts to make my phone work i think i've found the final solution.
My GPS was barely working, during car navigation It worked intermittently, and so it was completely useless.
In the last try, just before to put my phone into the trash bin, i've tried to cover the contacts of the back cover, where the antennas are, with the graphite of a simple pencil. I've also gently raised all the metal tabs to improve contact.
It sounds crazy, but after that the gps works very well even in indoor.
Since i don't know which contacts are for GPS i've done it on all the contacts, and now even WIFI improved.
Other experiment was to install a 0.5mm thermal pad between what i think it might be the cpu and the backplate of the lcd to dissipate the heat, you can see the area in the attached picture, after that the phone is very reactive and heats a lot less.
I wanted to share this experience with whom wants to try before smashing the phone on the wall and i hope your results will be similar to mine

I have (had) the same issue. Here is my bug report on the official ASUS forums > www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=102873
A friend of mine bought the same ASUS Zenfone Laser (I recommend it to him) and he did not experienced this issue. Look at my phone on the left hand side and his phone on the right.

I've send it to the official service center in my country (ROMANIA - Euro Service Center) and they said they've "replaced the conductive tape" and that's it. That did not fixed the GPS issue.
I went for a night run, to test the GPS on my freshly serviced ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser... Below are the results:
In the same conditions, same day, same hour, a Samsung S4 mini was doing great!! (proof below)

Too bad you did not post this earlier as I've send my phone to the service yet again and they did nothing in 21 days.
Given this situation, I've asked them for a "won't fix paper" and they wrote one for me.
Now, I have to buy another phone... :crying:
Seeing this fix from you makes me wonder... why the guys from the service did not try such a thing? Seems pretty simple to me...
Also, If I knew that your solution was that simple to implement, I would have tried it myself instead of send it yet again to the service (as the guys from the service did not "sealed" the phone after they've send it back to me the first time)
Since I don't have a smartphone any more, I've being looking around at the current offers, from other phone makers and ASUS Zenfone 2 still seems like the ideal phone (taking into consideration that I don't want to spend more than 270 dollars on a phone).
I'm wondering if I should give ASUS another try, another phone from the same Zenfone 2 family...

Can you tell me what is the thermal pad material. Its silicon or other type ?

Not sure. They didn't fixed anything, so I just got my money back for that phone. Too bad... it was quite good otherwise.

Back cameras not working at all, causes camera apps to close/freeze up

I got it brand new sealed a week ago and now the cameras dont work at all.
The weird thing is, I put some pressure on the cameras with my finger and then it started to work again for a bit and then it stopped again. Is this a rare occurence that can't be fixed??
look like hardware problem, you should claim warranty
Probably some camera module connector cable is loose, best way is to claim warranty

Yeah, I had to open up the device and re-sest the camera modules. Im a little familiar with device repairs so I was confident in doing it but it's not the easiest thing to do so attempt at your own risk.
It looked like one of the ribbon cable connections were loose

[Need Help] Dead Note 9

Hi
My Galaxy Note 9 (N906F/DS, CSC Code: INS, 512 GB variant) started restarting on its on. It was restarting continuously.
I tried factory reset from recovery mode. Didn't work.
Finally I decided to flash the stock rom. Now the restart problem is resolved but I am getting encryption failed message when device boots up. Also in recovery it says "Not enough storage resource" and asking me to perform "Lacking Storage Booting" (This is coming up only sometimes in recovery), but I don't have that option in my recovery.
I think I have corrupted my internal storage.
Please help.

Very elementary, and probably not helpful, suggestion... but go to recovery (bixby + up volume + power on, holding up vol even after screen lights). Then from there wipe the cache. Like I said, not likely... but maybe worth a shot.
Blessings.
while flashing rom tick the nand erase option in odin. it will completel erase and re format the paritions on the phone.

Tried that too.. I took the pit file from stock firmware and ticked nand erase and re-partition and provided the extracted pit file. Still same. I took it to samsung service center yesterday, they also tried to flash it and now they are saying we need to replace the motherboard which is costing around 18k INR ($240). Is there anything I can try?

Hi
Can I ask where you are located Samsung just tried to bill me 26,500 to replace my board.
Id probably like to get a board replacement done by your guy.
I suspect the only solution is to replace your board many times the mistake we make is thinking that s/w will fix the problem. Im in a similar situation as you.
If you do replace the board Id like to call dibs on your audio IC lol.

I am in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
I guess I will get the board changed then.
But this is too bad for a flagship phone. Its been just a year and a half and now I have to spend another 18K on a phone. This is not acceptable. I am not going to trust Samsung anymore. Also service centers should have engineers to repair the board, for example instead of replacing the board they can just replace the memory IC.

About this, can I ask them to give my old board back to me?

They better return the old board. Else where is the proof they changed it ?.
I have been in the service Industry for over 30 years. Worked with Tata Company, IBM, Compaq, Setup the first service centers for IBM and Compaq in India.
Never have I seen the level of unprofessionalism shown by Samsung. They need to sack their 3rd party vendor and get in a new team. Go check the Samsung Face Book page. They have a rating of 1.6 out of 5.
If a one plus phone can last 5 years, my nexu 5 still runs. I fail to see why a flagship should fail.
They have screwed up big time over and over again. Did you know the update broke the S20s also ?.
Anyway I am looking into why these failures after the update. And the hint seems to be excessive heat.
I suspect for example in a case like yours. Just reballing the memory IC would fix it.
In my case also I plan to try and re-ball the IC. If that fails I will put in a new IC.
Parts are dirt cheap just check out aliexpress. Samsung service are basically riping us off.
Instead of apologising to us. For the time and inconvenience faced They want to shaft us.
I predict this years launches are going to bomb big time. The note ultra 20 is rumored to already have a display issue.
Which makes the regular Note 20 screen look better. People are saying the Note 20 feels like one of those dummy phones you see in a store.

This makes a lot of sense because when my handset started restarting, it was producing so much heat that I couldn't even touch it with my bare hands and I had to keep it in refrigerator at 7 degrees for around 15 sec to make it normal again.
I just have one more doubt, if we assume that the memory IC is corrupted or is moved from its place due to excessive heat, then how am I able to flash the whole operating system of 6 GB into memory? Is it like they have separate chips for Internal memory and OS (including recovery, bootloader etc...)

I have posted else where on various companies that ran into problems after the Android 10 update. You can find the links if you google. It started first with Pixel phones, because Google phones got the update first. Many articles about the problems faced. As per the last article I read google had as of yet not released a fix. 8 months after the problem started.
In their case it was to do with a partition table for sensor data getting corrupted. So sensors started acting up and eventually failed.
Then it hit Asus phones. Rog2 owners faced problems.
Then it hit Samsung phones. The fun bit here is that it only hit their Exynos phones. Not the Snapdragons.
It hit their Flagship for 2020 S20 the worst with screens turning green.
This leads me to believe that all Exynos CPUs phones where impacted. But as only the S20 phones were still in warranty they focused all their attention on fixing the problem via s/w only for this phone.
See this link.
https://www.androidauthority.com/sa...eiiMQEIXQW51SJYUbXKOox5BC0QDa7aF2N3iHMlTnpYPU
So between the version that caused the problem and the fix they rolled out a lot of our phones saw problems like overheating / slow charging/display / audio issues.
This overheating caused the BGA solder and chips, to over-expand and then when it contracted back down again. The stability of the connection was compromised.
This also explains why the problem appeared then vanished. If you follow the link above you will get an idea of the timeline. Android 10 update comes out. Phones impacted. Samsung releases a fix. The problem is fixed. This is obviously an inhouse effort because google themselves have not yet addressed the issue. Let me dig up the google link I will post it in a bit.
We will know what the issue was when google fixes it. I don't expect Samsung to share that info.
So after the update, the overheating and slow charging problem vanished. But the damage was done.
BGA memory chips have hundreds of interconnects. I suspect the chips which were further away from the cooling pads got the worst of it. Maybe the CPU with its heat sink and water cooling was able to handle the heat. But audio IC with no heat sink could not. Who knows.
Samsung should just replace these devices and then take the failed devices to their plant and do a forensic analysis on the failures. I am sure your phone like mine is mint. i.e. no chance of them saying it was dropped or bumped.
Also water sensors are not tripped. So they must resolve such issues with a replacement. Let them take the board and analyze it. If they do not I plan to do it myself anyway. And will share the finding. The problem is to get the chip off we have to heat it. That will cause the lead to melt anyway. What they need to do is slice the chip off in layers and then analyze the solder.
In most countries, this is a 1-hour job max. Open phone, take off-chip. Clean up. Reball with a stencil. And fix the chip back. But for some reason in India. We do not have this level of repairs being done at least not by people who can be trusted.
My note 4 Samsung, they refused to service because it was purchased outside India.
I gave it to a local repair shop that claimed to have a reballing setup. And he totally botched the job. The phone was returned with parts missing and screws missing.
That is why I went out and purchased my note 9. Even though I hate the Exynos CPU.
This time I plan to do it myself. I build digital circuits for a living. With the right stencil and SMD paste, I see no reason why it cant be done.
I know how hard disks work. Not sure about Nand. i.e. on a hard disk when you format it bad sectors are marked as bad and not used. It could also be a voltage problem. Can't say till it opened up. Or diagnosed.
I am looking for the Schematics if anybody can help. I did find the service manual. But it has no schematics.
Ps: Here is the article I was referring to. I tried to log a complaint with google when it started to heat up. But they have closed the comments on the issue. Finally I expect Samsung to fix this cause I paid them a lot of money. I did not pay google. And BTW one plus phones had no such issue cause they are on the snap dragon.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/...d-10-update-issue-which-breaks-pixel-sensors/
Ps: In my case they demanding 26500 is a scam. I have it from their CEO of the service office. In writing.
Here is what the prices should be. These prices seem more in line with prices in China / Malaysia / Pakistan.
https://www.gsmscore.com/samsung/ga...PA2Afv8gXnAORYVCmONeHnX5XG9DCxeqoIJwOiE5EGOB0
And if you want to know the internals of your phone. Here is a link for the service manual.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/bvgv4qjbwagw91s/Note_9_Service_Manual.zip/file
The Samsung Service manual and schematic uses cryptic codes and part numbers for each part.
The was to convert these codes to a part number is to go to this site and search for it.
http://www.samsungparts.com/
Ps: On researching my audio issue. I found this datasheet for the audio IC.
Its max operating temp is 85c. I saw a warning on my screen saying phone is too hot. This log should be saved somewhere.
