I noticed the BLU R1 HD is back on Amazon today, I bought the $60 one before and I removed the ads easily following rootjunkys video on youtube. However, I lost that phone.
Is it possible to remove the ads easily if I buy one again now? I heard it comes with the 6.6 update now.

It can as long as it doesn't come with v8.x
But rootjunkies method will not work if it has 6.6 or higher.

Downgrade is not currently possible.
I have read success reports still of using "pm hide" to stop unwanted bloat apps and adds.
Here is reference to using " pm hide "

thought the ads were in an app called "pheonix" but do not see it in your list.
I'm thinking a new script to de-bloat without root would be good.
Can use the apps listed in the recovery de-bloat script as a base line for removal.
Reference to this thread
Would need to search each app to find the process name.
Will update this suggestion post after a few Google searches refresshes my memory on the command to search app process name.
EDIT:
I verified lock screen ads is still called "phoenix"
I reinstalled it and dissabled root to test. This does remove the ad service and also removes the stored last background.
I included the fota update apps to be dissabled too, just in case the current system gets rooted and another update comes after that, to block the root.
Code:
C:\Users\Mr>adb uninstall -k --user 0 com.amazon.phoenix
Success
C:\Users\Mr>adb uninstall -k --user 0 com.adups.fota
Success
C:\Users\Mr>adb uninstall -k --user 0 com.adups.fota.sysoper
Success
C:\Users\Mr>adb reboot
If you want to remove more stock installed apps you can start with this search.
you can open terminal (cmd) window\
and enter into adb shell
Code:
adb shell
pm list packages | grep amazon
pm list packages | grep google
pm list packages | grep blu
I have restored back to prime version with ads so i can have all the ads and bloat back, in order to get the names of the processes. Then put together an almost equivilent de-bloat script as he have on the forrum already except without root.
This script removes the Amazon Bloat for current default user, blocks further running of ota checker (it should anyway).
The last ad that was on lock screen has now become just a background image on lock screen.
script is a windows .bat file, in a txt format. rename it in order to use it. edits to the 19 apps dissabled are easy. Just open the .bat in text editer and either put two collons "::" in front of the line you want to skip.

Damn, that's disappointing! I guess they finally sold out of the existing stock.
There are some interesting new phones coming out of China in the $150 ballpark that I'd probably look at if I didn't have or broke my R1 HD, like the BluBoo S8: http://www.bluboo.hk/ These newer "cheap" phones have more memory, storage, and much bigger batteries.

Hi hothaifa,
Did you "pm hide" those ads app on v8.x?
How did you make it?
I am not able to do it because my phone is not shown on "adb devices".
Any suggestion?
Thanks,

your first problem is getting to know how to use adb, perhaps even install it on pc first.
then read the thread further. PM Hide did not work. use "adb uninstall -k --user 0 app name"
here is good reference.
https://beebom.com/how-remove-bloatware-android-without-root/
and here is my script to do the adb uninstall, that i already put up for use. just make sure you have adb working.

Okay, so like many I have been waiting for another user of this forum to post his update of the sense ROM, but he seems to be taking a while. So, I decided I will try and fix the ROM myself, currently I am going to try adding libs from other ROMS ofcourse I will not be posting anything on the ROM unless I get things working, then I will seek permissions to post the ROM from the correct owners... I am cuurently flashing the ROM to my x8 now..
Just a quick question also.. Does anyone know how to add libs directly to the system.img?
There is a decompiler for the .img file somewhere around the xda forum, i'll have a quick search for you and get back to you on it

Thank you very much, I will also need to recompile, I believe this can only be done on linux? or the AVD emulator? or can it also be done on windows? I know the decompiling can be
Yeah i found something for you, i cant try it for you before i recomend it because my pc has been stolen, but heres a link to the thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315111
Both decompiling and recompiling can be done on wondows so far as i know with a linux emulator, or you could partition the hard drive on your pc and install linux on the second partition
Hope i helped

Thank you, the decompiling on windows works, I'm just not sure about recompiling as linux isn't my Forte so to speak.. also my AVD emulator doesn't seem to be loading any android VM's I have created..
The best way i found when i was trying to port sense was to take it slowly, modifying/replacing 1 lib file at a time, it takes forever, but if it doesnt load up then that way you know the source of the problem, ill pull up a few sites on basic linux for you if you want?

I was going to try some of the better known ROM libs just now, gonna send them through ADB because I can't use root explorer due to the "SD card removed" bug.. Decompile the libs and then recompile them then?
Where can I get the ramdisk?

Edit: Vibration has come alive now..
Ah ha nice to see the Operation Sense is rolling along still... don't know what Salo-S is doin but still no proof of his Rom....?
Any way I could help? I'm not dev but if there's a easy but time consuming job that needs doing (typing stuff...?) Then I'm up for it.lol

I'll keep you in mind my friend.. Just trying to figure stuff out at the moment but the typing things could be of use updates and findings etc... PM me your email?
Yo man, finally someone who approaches this subject seriously, do not pretend to be someone all knowing and is not a crook. Respect for this, man.
... Salo-s and SuperuserAngga still don't get any proof.
I can help if I can, just PM me. I'm a beta tester of ROU UI now, but I think I can help something from time to time.
Peace!

Thank you, aside from testing do you do any coding?
or anything along these lines? fine if you don't, beta testing is just as important!
Hi All,
I'd need someone to test ICS touchscreen drivers for 80G9. I patched them "blindly" as I don't have a 80, it would be nice if some could test them and confirm that patches are working.
If someone is up to it, here is how to test:
Install my ics build.
unzip the attached file to a directory
boot ics.
get list of loaded modules, please report what is written there to this thread.
Code:
adb shell lsmod
push kernel module:
Code:
adb push cypress-tma340.ko /lib/modules
adb push tr16c0-i2c.ko /lib/modules
reboot:
Code:
adb shell reboot_into sde
Test touch screen and report here if it works.
Thanks!
LeTama
lsmod:
Code:
Module Size Used by Not tainted
btwilink 2696 0 - Live 0xbf027000
hso 25266 0 - Live 0xbf01a000
usbserial 24035 0 - Live 0xbf00e000
tr16c0_i2c 3860 0 - Live 0xbf008000
cypress_tma340 11232 0 - Live 0xbf000000
works great
any chance for a git repo with your work?
i also tried to compile ICS on my own but couldnt get around the crashing servicemanager.

So it works for you? Great news! I'll update my build then...
Both modules are loaded, do you know which one is in use ?
Regarding repo, well, I'm far from having a structured build. It's currently a mix of stock firmware+ics for panda with few patches for surface flinger and wifi+binaries for 3D from TI Gingerbread
I can give you the few diffs I have if you want...
rmmod tr16c0_i2c doesnt have any effect while rmmod cypress_tma340 kills my touch functionality.
so i guess cypress_tma340 is used
yeah, diffs + config from kernel & ics would be very very great

Thanks for the test. We'll see if tr16c0_i2c is used on others...
Here are my diffs, raw, with lots of traces commented not used anymore. On kernel side, it has the ram_console on top of the touchscreens changes.
Location for ram console is poor as it is, I did put it there because I was experimenting 3.0 drivers. 0x9EEE0000 is better if you want to keep it. Config is the same as archos with extended dmesg (CONFIG_LOG_BUF_SHIFT=17).
Last point, 3D driver binaries are from there:
git://git.omapzoom.org/device/ti/proprietary-open.git, refs/heads/gingerbread

Hi everyone,
As most of you know Lenovo released the official ICS build for the Ideapad K1 today. The new bootloader will not allow me to boot into recovery partition, so no custom recovery for now. Unfortunately the build released by Lenovo also lacked Google Apps. I have added in the latest Google Apps package including Face Unlock. I have posted two versions of the Rom both rooted and not rooted. The non rooted is 100% stock with Google Apps. The rooted has the latest Superuser.apk and su binary and the latest busybox, and the boot.img has been modified to allow adb remount.
This will wipe your entire device. You will lose all apps and data. I am in no way responsible for your device, as always flash at your own risk.

awsome great job!!!!:good:
Awesome work!! CM9/10 in the near future after kernel source? I volunteer to test if you need testers.
i was about to install this an i realized i left my data cable at work. i guess i get to sleep tonight after all
I know this is probably a dumb question but do I need the apx drivers installed? I'm having problems getting them installed with the official lenovo package ones... Maybe someone could link me to a different place to find them...
(R)EVOLTE
thank you so much khanning88 for this and all your hard work! lenovo should hire you and make you their senior dev.. awesome job! thanks again! =)
Great job man. Just installed. Looks fantastic!

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to khanning88 for getting things done at this high speed.
However,I have issues on the Play Store. As a number of apps including Google Maps and Chrome cannot be downloaded directly via Play Store, which it said "Your device isn't compatible with this edition". So I have to grab them unofficially. Can we pretend the device to be a Xoom for maximum app compatibility, just like what you did in the rooted HC rom? Or is there any other solution?
Thanks in advance.
I respect your work.great share!
Thanks man ... downloaded both versions. Will flash mine with rooted version and my friend's device using unrooted version.
Recovery?
Awesome work - flashed root version - worked flawlessly.
Now, how can we reinstall CWM recovery - it seems to have disappeared? Installing the special recovery apk and opening does not reboot into recovery. Does anyone know if flashing ICS removed the recovery partition?
camera not working plus some apps dont install.
Flashed rooted version which worked OK. Camera app starts but the screen is black. Camera worked OK on HC 3.2.1. Tablet feels less responsive also.
Lots of my standard apps don't install, play store says they are not compatible. These are apps not games. Like flipboard and my banking app.
At this point I think I'll go back to HC until these items are fixed. And I guess this won't happen until Lenovo release the source and khanning can fix up all the Lenovo mistakes.
Disappointed with what Lenovo produced, given the time they spent working on it. Its a 3 out of 10 from me.

Camera works fine for me both pics and vids. Tablet seems much more responsive to me. I agree Lenovo did a poor job. Khanning came in in two hours and tripled their output. I have been working on modifing the build prop to get more apps to work.
Excellent work khanning. As far as overclocking goes, would something like that have to wait until the source is released? Or could a custom kernel supporting this be released without it? Just curious, I like to make things go faster...
Only downside is this came out the day before my work week (Fri-Sun) really kicks in gear, maybe by the time I get around to tinkering with this more questions will be answered.
Either way, khanning you really should be on salary by Lenovo for all the business youre saving that company. Thank you again!
These are the build Prop setting I used to get better EA and gameloft compatibility. I am not an expert on build Props and take no responsibility for your actions. Back up your build before making changes. Gmaps and chrome still do not show up in the market with theses settings.

What all does everyone have disabled. I'm trying to see what's safe.
nothing. I've used package disabler before but not on this one. There isn't too much bloat. Does it really make much difference or can removing apps the fw is looking for result in worse battery usage?

I got a Verizon version that I'm not using ok Verizon so I disabled all the Verizon stuff. I also disabled bixby bc she is dumb lol. I just didn't know what else was safe to disable.
I just went to the Unlocked Firmware to get away from all the AT&T bloatware. I've seen noticable battery life improvements just by doing that. I do have certain things I don't use disabled but not nearly as much as when I was running the AT&T firmware.

I am too lazy to edit this on a touch screen. If I still had my android PRIV which had a keyboard I'd edit it for sure. But not on a full touch device.

Nothing disabled here.* The built-in device maintenance does a great job of keeping unused apps from using resources. There's no need to go to the trouble of disabling anything manually--especially since doing so sometimes backfires and causes errors that do result in significant resource consumption.
*Except Bixby. I've disabled it because I dislike it and prefer Google Assistant, not to conserve resources.
Unlocked NOTE8 from VZW With Much Bloat
TITLE----Unlocked NOTE8 from VZW With Much Bloat
--------
Unlocked Note 8
Purchased from 3rd partie Verizon Store
Regarding SM-N950U Stock APK's & Running Services and Boatloader Installation
--------
-The BackStory-
I Purchased (In full) the Galaxy Note 8 from a Independently owned Verizon store. Now, as you can imagine I paid Top$$$ Dollar, I did not receive any incentives, No Add-On's, cash back, wireless Fast-Charger, Dex Station, or even any Rebates. And for the kicker: I purchased the $40 Otter Box at Full Retail Value.
So, Seeing I purchased the phone out right and also paid the entire Full Retail Value ($989.w/otterbox) I was thankfully giving the "Unlocked Variant" but Device was packed with all of Verizon's-Bloatware.
--------
-The Question-
A) Is there a list of 'installed' APK's &/or Stock Services I can reference? [Either VZW Variant &/or Unlocked Variant]
B) Is there anyway to install "Unlocked Variant" bootloader WITHOUT A COMPUTER?
C) Would Verizon be able or responsable for loading the Unlocked Bootloader since my device is Paid Off?
--------
I want to Thank Those whom answer questions, comment: Facts & Ideas, and, Guides/How-To's.
- Much Appreciation goes to those whom
take the time to Create Custom Kernals, APK's, Dev Guides, Write Code and much much more.
Thanks xda-developers for all of the hardwork.

With Appreciation,
Happy 2018 New Year,

Wanna Hack something with your Mobile ?
No you can't hack anything, I was just kidding hehe, Let's get into the topic.
What is Kali NetHunter?
The Kali Linux NetHunter project is the first Open Source Android penetration testing platform for Nexus devices, created as a joint effort between the Kali community member “BinkyBear” and Offensive Security. NetHunter supports Wireless 802.11 frame injection, one-click MANA Evil Access Point setups, HID keyboard (Teensy like attacks), as well as BadUSB MITM attacks – and is built upon the sturdy shoulders of the Kali Linux distribution and toolsets.
for more info visit https://www.kali.org/kali-linux-nethunter/
Right now it's only official for Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9, Nexus 10 or OnePlus One. So I just made a Unofficial one for our P2. Let's start....
Prerequisite:
¥ Root access.
¥ 100 to 500 mb minimum free storage according to your Chroot preference.
¥ Terminal emulator
¥ Meefik Busybox
Installation Procedure:
# Install Meefik busybox
# Download the zip file from the link below and extract it to internal storage
# Open Terminal emulator app and type su and grant root access
# Now type" sh /sdcard/install_nh/nethunter.sh"
# Now wait for installation process to complete [11 success]
# Now the nethunter app will open automatically
# Don't do anything or touch anything [1 or 2,3 mins]
# Wait until the app closes automatically and shows "Done"
# Now type "exit" in the Terminal emulator app, it will close it.
# Open the NetHunter app and install Chroot [full recommended ~400mb]
# After install Chroot Full go the Terminal and type "apt-get update" and after that "apt-get upgrade".
# In case you install Chroot minimal type "apt-get install kali-linux-nethunter" then type "apt-get update" and finally "apt-get upgrade" .
# Or you could install manually each desired package after installing minimal Chroot if you don't want all the NetHunter package
# You are done, Have fun
