SoD IceCream and JellyBean - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I 've got a secondhand Xperia V LT25i. Stock JB 4.3 rooted. It suffers from the notorious Sleep of Death (started before the root).
Although dozens of threads around, my sense is that there is No definite answer-explanation about the cause of bug.
I 've been searching the net for last couple of days, but couldnt find something specific, a concrete information, for example....."disable that and that...and you 'll be fine".....or any similar infos.
I read for software related causes, but also for replaced motherboards. My guess would be software related, cause I learnt after all this reading, that the problem exists in some newer models also (Z line). I dont think that Sony -as of a sudden- forgot the art of manufacturing PCB.
But anyway. I wanna ask if the problem is more frequent in some newer android versions (JB, KK, LP, etc) and lesser in ICS, because the only thing havent tried already, is flashing my phone the IceCream version 4.0.4 (the very first of its age as freshmade), in order to give a try and have a hit, or else the phone itself will have the Hit.....if you catch my drift.
Thanx in advance for any given info.

[Q] Is there a fix for wi-fi dropout at -88dBM?

Hi All,
I'm wanting to know if there is a fix for the wi-fi dropping perfectly useable signals at -88dBM since HTC's Gingerbread update?
I am now S-OFF and rooted, and have recently installed Android Revolution HD as my ROM, as this promised 'improved wi-fi drivers', but this sadly hasn't included a fix for this issue.
I would've thought this would be top of the list for developers as there have been many complaints by users since 'upgrading' from Froyo.
Any advice would be appreciated...
Many thanks.
Anyone? This is a major issue for me.
i think its an issue with all gingerbread roms, maybe you could try turning "best wifi performance" on.
i thought maybe it was working for me as i think it dropped less, it does use considerably more battery though.

That's the main reason I have S-OFFed my phone, and since then I have tried a lot of updates ( Roms, Kernels, Radios...), without any luck so far.
Returning to Froyo may be our best bet but I do not know if it is feasible yet.
Yes, I thought this would've been a quick fix for the developers.
If I can downgrade to Froyo, I will do so in an instant!
Did anyone find a workaround for the wifi issue ? I am quite surprised that there aren't more people complaining about it...
+1
And when ever anyone asks about it, there is deadly silence. I would have thought that some of the excelent devs on here would at least have some opinions to share on possible ways forward or not ?

[Q] Does your phone suffer from random reboots?

For a long while now an on many different roms I have noticed my phone rebooting at what appears to be random atleast twice a week.
It's never been when in a call and I often only notice it because I see the boot animation on my phone out of the corner of my eye while it was doing nothing but being sat on my desk! Also I know when it has done it because it has switched back to my default network which I am not normally on.
For me I have had it on everything from CM7 to Juwes to docs rom to stock. If this is not normal behaviour I fear that my phone may have a hardware fault
Post your random reboot experiences here!
My experience: rarely with Darky 10.1, I got one today with Juwe 5.1 but I installed this rom two days ago and still making some experiment.
Bye.
always close to stock cfroot only + own changes = never had issues ...
Both my husband and I get them at least twice a week also, we are on stock JVH that we got from O2 through Kies, not rooted or anything. we are thinking of phoning samsung tomorrow, we never had any of these on 2.2, so I think it must be software with us both getting them since 2.3. both our phones are still in guarantee, although if it is software I dont know what they can do
TBH I haven't actually been on a pure stock rom for quite some time. From what I remember I would get the occasional random reboot but probably not quite as often as I have done since turning to custom roms.
Could some fundamental change that many custom roms make cause this?
Or could perhaps a certain rogue app which I have had installed on many different roms be causing this?

Yes this is partly why I decided to create this thread and try to get to the bottom of it. My warranty runs out in 2/3 months and the paranoid side of me fears a hardware issue. I also started on 2.2 and don't think I got quite as many, if any, random reboots then which seems to coincide with your experiences.

Yeah our guarantee runs out in about 6 or 7 weeks which is why I thought of phoning them, my phone has been back once because the motherboard or whatever its called had to be replaced. do you think it could be hardware?

I have no idea. I'm starting to think probably not. so far 75% of people to this poll have reboots either daily or weekly. I think it could be a software bug in all gingerbread based roms but i really don't no. Would be interesting to flash back to stock froyo and see if it persists then.
Keep an eye on this thread and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this

question/thread title is "Does your phone suffer from random reboots?" so majorityof people that does not have any reboots/problems will not join to read so they will not vote
also by the thread title in some way youre determining the anserw yet still youve got 15 people voted (thats not authoritative + 350 thread openings...) & 33% of them said NEVER
I used to get random reboots on stock firmware, because samsung can't write software! Since running cm7 based software (insanity cm) I haven't had one single reboot, the stability is mindblowing and it is super stable, however it is not really for flashing novices, just my humble opinion
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I'm with 2.3.4 JVP, and usually after an uptime of around 333 hours the phone reboots itself, happened twice...

Yes I do admit I haven't received the amount of feedback I was hoping for in this thread. And yes I am fully aware that polling on here is far from an accurate way of gathering data exactly for the reason you suggested but still I hoped to learn something about the extent of this phenomenon.
Also when I wrote that quote that you critisied for being inaccurate it was correct at the time. If not a little premature
However please feel free to share your experiences (or lack of) the topic in question.
I voted 'very rarely' - usually when running a buggy app that uses all RAM and CPU.
No reboots by itself so far.
to much, using dark core 2.6 , pilotx rom
Wow I thought I am the only who suffer with this..LOL...My phone is running JVO 2.3.3 and I updated it via Kies...no root no lagfix, quite a virgin Galaxy S..hahaah...
Very rarely, and it was only after this one time I had to swap batteries and didn't allow the phone to fully shutdown which must've caused some corruption. Even though I restored a backup certain things just seemed off and turned out I did had problems with reboots and so after that, most likely being the cause.
Besides that, after putting in a fresh ROM and whatnot, never had issues, not before the incident save once maybe.
I have changed to juwe 5.1 today from his 5.0. Was playing angry birds and left phone down for minute, then soon as screen locked it rebooted itself. Have not tried with other apps yet. Will post back when tried them out

Xperia X8 - Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean"

Dear Community,
I know from your guidelines that starting threads or requesting updates on certain subjects is strictly prohibited but still I feel it necessary to ask
you that exact question (even if there's a ban only moment away..) because I don't like to be kept out in the dark and would like
someone from the development team to update their daily updates and how their work is progressing so that we who are
eager enough to get started may rest in piece instead of staying awake all night long looking for updates.
Remove thread, warn or ban.. I just need an answer to all this!

Jelly bean in my eyes is just the same thing as ICS except the title has changed it's moved up 0.1 decimal and a lot of fixes. The UI should be the same as well. I also don't see anyone going to port it anytime soon because first of all we don't have full working ICS.
Second a lot of the roms we are using today and the kernels still have them bugs. And i'm pretty sure no one will bother porting it to x8 since it's 2 years old it's dieing out and there are new phones just a tiny bit more expensive then x8 that are 10x stronger e.g.nexus s. I love sony and all but they are a company whom which likes to start new projects and never work and update their old ones. Updating your phones you manufacture makes a good company oh and good customer service which sony already has
I think you have to wait for that one, or start making it yourself, but if you dont want to, just wait... meanwhile use another rom, there are great ones at the moment, and they are a vast improvement of what eclair was in the first place...

[Q] Are there different versions of the SM-900A

This is a serious question as I am very confused.
I am asking this because I have had my phone for about two months now. I have read through most of the post in this phones section. I see countless threads about this issue, and that issue, battery life, screen issues, lag, and the list goes on.
I can honestly say I have none of those issue. So that means either there was a newer hardware version released recently or the quality of Samsung is really hit and miss and I should go play the lottery..:good:
Does anyone else here have a 900A with little or no issues?

Android L Developer Preview

Hi, Can anyone port L developer preview for our phone Sony Xperia T??? Would be greatly appreciated!!
I think it's extremely difficult to do so. But of course I'd be as well very glad if we'd see a port of this for Xperia V. :good:
Problem is one most likely has to modify a lot of the kernel stuff.. The Nexus devices are all pretty similar in that point, yet still it took several weeks for a Nexus 4 port to appear.
(By the way, if one tries to port it, I recommend Nexus 4 preview port as a base, cause the resolution difference is not that big.
Haha, you're funny.
I don't think we wil get a good working custom rom for it.

Actually, noone was asking about custom roms. Thats a matter of the future (despite I am quite confident we will see a stable CM12)
So if youre not a dev willing to try and port it, stop being that pessimistic. Our devices aren't dead yet!

I guess someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
There will not be a dev L for the T and i doubt that someone will port it. Kitkat roms have still many bugs. (the blue flickering is still not 100% gone). So L will have more problems to, because a lack of drivers.
I'm not a pessimist but a realist. The T is dying (not that it ever was a live).
I have a T and i'm glad that i can get a new one in a few months.

The T is dying, yes, that's why I'm moving to a Xiomi Mi3, but this device can go on for almost two years more, I'm sure, it's a great phone with a pretty decent dev community behind

"Kitkat roms have still many bugs. (the blue flickering is still not 100% gone)."
That's one bug dude...and I've never come across it through all my experience with OmniROM. I've been following OmniROM development since the start, and after the flickerings were "fixed" by Lalit I've never come across them again. Plus, after the switch to the 4.3 kernel was made, there have been virtually zero bugs in OmniROM, and best of all, no reboots.
You say you're not a pessimist, but you're clearly being one. If the T was able to get Kitkat development going with drivers from Android 4.1, then I'm pretty sure someone will make an Android L ROM using drivers from 4.3. That is, as long as there still are devs for our device, which there definitely are. I'm still pretty hopeful that this phone has a ways to go yet before it's "dead." Just look at the Xperia Arc. That phone launched with Gingerbread (!) and is getting Kitkat ROMs today! There's no reason why the Xperia T shouldn't last at least as long.
And don't forget that there is still a possibility to get 4.4 drivers, it is small but it is there.
CM will Do it
I hope CM will do the update and the other dev will follow with up date

The blue flickering is NOT gone. I have it multiple times a day. Can't even watch a movie or play a heavy game. Battery life is very bad for me on any 4.4 rom. Get 1and half hour screen time on 12 hours and then i have to charge. Sony stock 4.3 is full of bugs. Even my screen spontaneous broke when charging my phonr (i have never dropped it). So yes i'm very disappointed in the Xperia T.
I bought it when it came out for the full price and Sony pushed the T to the Side when they release the Z. So pardon me that i'm disappointed in the T (and Sony) after paying 500 euro's for it.
And please don't tell me that i have to buy another phone if i don't like it, because money doesn't grow on three's here.
And no i'm not a noob. I know my way with custom roms and kernels

All I'm saying is, you report a lot of problems that virtually no other people experience. Perhaps your T is defective or something dude, because I've never experienced any of the issues you talked about, and I've scarcely heard of others having those same problems either. I've NEVER had blue flickering on OmniROM since it was officially fixed, even while watching movies or playing games. The battery life has been great for me on any ROM, except obviously for when I'm on 3G data, because that hogs battery like a ***** no matter what you do and no matter what phone you're using. I've also never had any bugs on stock 4.3, and definitely no screen-breaking-while-charging incidents.
And there's no problem whatsoever being disappointed with the Xperia T and disliking it, but you should know that there are a lot of us who actually do like this phone and don't experience all the issues you do. You're certainly entitled to your opinion that the T is a piece of garbage and the worst phone you've had, but that doesn't make the rest of us wrong for liking the phone, and feeling optimistic about our chances at Android L.

Such kind of text disqualify an entire posting.
I was already thinking about this lately.
Because the Xperia T stock ROM was slow for me I looked for alternatives and found OMNIRom.
OMNIRom works fast and smooth. It is stable and NEVER rebooted or crashed since I use it. So i have faith in that community and lets wait several months and will see the direction and the possibility of Andorid L custom ROMs.
Still the more we use the same hardware the better for the environment. I am concerned about the scarcity of resources and the carbon emissions we cause by those number of devices produced per year. So much better to use the device full cycle before getting a new one...
