I'm trying to set up a task that runs when I am at home but am failing at the first hurdle. When I try to set up my location profile tasker sets my location to the gulf of Nigeria with no option to locate where I am. Tried all three combinations of accuracy with both WiFi switched on or off but no success. The location service works fine in Google maps and other location based services but not in tasker. Shouldn't there be an option to click for my current location?

That thread didn't really address why I can't see a location button.

There isn't a location button. The toggles bottom left could be accidentally turned off. One for net, the other for gps. If waiting several minutes doesn't give your location, you could try toggling the location using the "pin" (upside down tear drop) at the top, right of center. Tap once to turn off, wait a second then tap again.

Identification there? Seen a button at the top of the screen in several articles online. http://fieldguide.gizmodo.com/change-your-android-phones-settings-based-on-where-you-1597903597
Or is this something that had been removed?
Managed to get it to work at work but to set my home zone I had to put in longitude and latitude to set it up.

Are you taking about the "compass" icon in the picture in that site? If so, it's been replaced by the location pin I described above.
Ah thanks

I just started using Tasker on my Droid X running Liberty GB and am loving it. Last night I installed tasker on my gtab running CalkClem V6 and was wondering if anyone has any gtab/tablet specific profiles or tips?
So far I have only used Tasker on the gtab to automatically turn off the screen when the case closes. The profile activates when the light sensor is at zero. The corresponding actions are wait 4 seconds and then lock device. I'm betting I will have trouble with this profile when using the gtab in a very dark room, so I might have to restrict this profile to only daylight hours.
I'm also considering using tasker to shut down the gtab automatically every night at around 2AM just in case I left it running and it's not plugged in.
Anyone doing anything interesting with tasker and the gtab?

That's actually REALLY useful! I'm going to go find it on the market in a little bit...
Tasker is $6.42 in the marketplace, which seems a bit expensive for an automation app... until you've tried it. The dev's site has a 7 day trial apk if you want to give it a spin. You can backup all profiles from the trial and restore them to the purchased app if you like it.
http://tasker.dinglisch.net/
I just created a profile on my droid x that plays beyondpod and sets the media volume to a specific level every time my Bluetooth headphones are connected.
sorry if I sound like a shill, but it's just so awesome...
Oh, its a paid app.
I like the idea, but not enough to spend that much on it. Maybe if it were a 99 cent app.
I'm almost certain there is a free app to do just the case close screen off portion. I remember seeing it here on the forum a while back.
That would be clutch, as I just got my case today and would love to make that happen!
To the op, could you post instruction on how to do what you did with locking screen when light sensor is zero? I'm struggling. With it.
Tasker isn't the most intuitive tool in the world, so here is how I achieved the case close, screen off profile:
Open tasker
tap "New" to create a new profile and name it anything
tap "State"
tap "Light Level"
set top slider at 0 and set bottom slider between 1 and 4 (higher number will help if your case doesn't block all the light)
tap "Done"
tap "New Task" and name it anything
tap "+"
tap "Tasker"
tap "Wait"
The second slider is seconds. This will determine how long the delay is between when you close your case and when the screen turns off. I selected 4 seconds to avoid accidentally covering the sensor with my finger.
scroll down and tap "done"
tap "+" again
tap "Display"
tap "System Lock"
tap "Done"
Tasker will need to gain a new permission from the OS at this point. Be sure to read the warnings that will pop up.
tap "Done"
tap "Apply" and make sure the "On" check box is selected in the bottom right
That should do it. If this doesn't work you may want to confirm that your light sensor is functioning properly (I've only tested this on CalkClem V6). To do that I downloaded one of the "phone sensor" apps from the marketplace.
Nvm, I'm an idiot.

Haha, my original problem was I couldn't find "system lock". But in the back of my mind I was trying to look for "lock system". Only saw "lock" but no "lock system". I was like "wtf?"
Then after going on a rampage through my kitchen, I went back to the gtab and found "system lock".
May be I should get my eyes checked soon. Been a few years since last time.
By the way, thank you for recommending this app for me. I'm waiting for my clip case to arrive. Man, it will be slick. Has tested it a dozen times now. The screen shut off every time.
The thing is too bad the other way around doesn't work. I tried to set up the reverse to turn it on when there's light and the gtab wouldn't turn on.
Any idea how to restrict this to daytime hours? Nevermind. My dumbass found it.
You can restrict it to daylight hours by tapping the left side of the profile and selecting "add." From there you can set the hours in which this profile can be activated.
Just in case any onlookers were interested.
Check out gestures in tasker too. You can do things like mute the tab by rotating it left then right.

Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone is having the same issue as I am. My lock screen doesn't seem to actually lock the phone.. i.e. if you press an app without sliding it up, it just opens. The lock icon, however, is still displayed. My lock screen style is set to productivity, and that still all works, and I have no security set up. It's worth noting that it was working with no issues up until a day ago, and nothing has changed :/
For further clarification:
By not working, I mean that before I used to have to slide the tab up, or to launch an app I would have to drag it up, but now that doesn't work.
Here's a video showing what I mean:

This just started happening to my AT&T HTC One tonight! I found this post by doing a search to see if anyone else had experienced this same issue on their One.
Also I can no longer drag the icons at the bottom of my lockscreen up to get into that particular app. And pressing anywhere on the lockscreen seems to unlock the phone and take me to the desktop.
I'm using the "music lockscreen" style, fyi.

I just figured out what was causing it on mine... I actually received my Pebble smartwatch in the mail today and had installed the Pebble Android app onto my One. This also required going into the Settings on my One and enabling Accessibility for the Pebble and Pebble Notifier and these 2 accessibility settings were what was causing the lockscreen to behave this way.
Don't see anyway to get around it so far...

Wow aha actually I did install the pebble app just before it started happening.. I wonder if it's a problem on pebble's side or htc... good catch though!
Yeah, not sure of that either. I just wondered and posted about this myself in another XDA thread I found on this very same topic:

I have got this on my HTC one, I have come from an iphone and wanted to have the screen turn on when any emails are received. These show up on the lockscreen so when I'm driving if I get an email the screen turns on.
I can use several apps to do this but they all require to be enabled in Accessibility, if I do that the lockscreen unlocks when its touched anywhere as mentioned earlier without swiping. If I disable the accessibility setting its all back to normal but the app doesnt work....ie. the screen doesn't come on.
Any one figured this out yet?

I found a work around for it. It requires root access, Tasker and Secure Settings.
What I did was create a Context that is activated when the display is on and then using Secure Settings, disable all Accessibility for all events. As an exit task, I re-enable all my accessibility apps.
Now when i turn on my display, I actually have to slide to unlock.

Sound interesting, :good:

Under the profiles tab
Press the + icon in the botton right corner
Select State
Select Display
Select Display State
Change "Is Off" to "Is On"
Press the back button
You should have a popup of available Tasks (if you have any)
Select New Task +
[Optional] Give it a name
You need to do the following section as many times as you have Acessibility services
***********************************************
Press the + icon in the lower middle screen
Select Plugin
Select Secure Settings
Press the Edit button
Select Accessibility Services
Select a service, and make sure is disabled (by default it will be)
Press the save icon in the lower left
Press back
************************************************************
Repeat the previous section as needed
When you are done creating your task, press the back button
You should be back at your main profile screen.
Long press the green arrow of the task you just created
Select Add Exit Task
Repeat the *********** section but save the accessiblity services as "Is Off" for all your services.
Tasker has a bit of a learning curve, and hopefully this will get you started.

Thanks for the write up its really appreciated. I'll give it a go.....

Efox29. That works very well.. Thanks again for the advice.
I've got this set up as well but for me it is extremely hit and miss. Nearly 50% of the time I still get the single touch unlock and the other half of the time tasker works perfectly. The only thing I can think of is that my pin unlock causes a problem but why only half the time.
Anyone else have this problem?
I suppose I should be happy my problem has been cut in half but I wish it was completely consistent.
Sent from my HTC One using xda-developers app
It's not ideal but works ok, for me it's better than nothing.
M.
Actually having used this tasker solution for a few days now it works about 75% of the time and seems more reliable if the screen has been off for a while vs reactivating the screen very soon after turning off. Still sometimes I get the one touch unlock after the screen being locked for hours. On the whole the accessibility problem still really annoys me but I agree this solution is better than nothing and so far I haven't had any more accidental call answers.

has anyone noticed that another issue with this accessibility bug is that the screen will flicker or flash black for a split second after unlocking? again, this only happens after you turn on accessibility for an app.
Hi, i am sorry if i am posting into wrong forum
but i have issue with tasker i have couple program in there very simple ones based on location and simple switch for example to silent and back to sound when i am and exit certain location and so on. and after i think last update the profiles does not activate any more. i havent done anything in tasker did not added the profiles are on and the location services are on. i have version 4.8u1m. do you know what could have happened? thanks
In your settings in accessibility do you have tasker turned on. Also in tasker itself go to preferences monitor and make sure use new cell Api is checked .
Maybe you switched off tasker? Long press the Tasker icon in the app in the upper left corner. If it's not colored it's switched off

Hi,
how can I change the temperature shown on the lock screen from Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Or even better remove the temperature completely.
Thanks.
You used to be able to remove it by turning off location services, I haven't tried it on the 4 yet.
If you tap on the temp, it should open Google weather, from there tap the hamburger menu on top left, you can change F to C there.
How am I supposed to tap it? It unlocks too fast.
And I don't have Google weather installed
Turning GPS off is of course nö option.

Tap the weather on the home screen, Unless you are using a third party launcher.
Alternatively, search for 'weather' on the google app, when you see the location, tap the 3 dot menu and select celsius.
Google maps under Android Auto is just showing the map with my GPS position on it and it’s not in turn by turn navigation mode.
How do I turn on turn by turn navigation mode.
Have you selected a destination?

No I just want to see the road I'm driving on, don't want to set a destination. I know its possible because I've used it like this before.
All I am getting at the moment is the map screen with my GPS position on, not the road I'm on.
Uh, what? First you say "it’s not in turn by turn navigation mode", then you say you don't want to set a destination.
The "read your mind" feature drop hasn't come yet.
All I want is to see the road I’m on instead of the map view which just shows my GPS location. I like to see myself traveling down the road.
Does it show re-center anywhere on your screen?
Where would I find the re-center button?

Push the arrow orientation so instead of north it should be shown yr direction
Inviato dal mio ANE-LX1 utilizzando Tapatalk
Do you mean press on the blue dot/arrow showing my GPS position to put it into the mode where it shows the direction I am traveling in or is there another button I should press?
Thanks for the help I feel I am getting somewhere.
Ok I’m sorted you have to double tap the screen and then you get a compass which you tap to make it show your direction instead of facing north.
have you try: under google maps settings, there is navigation settings, you will find "add shortcut main screen" (if i remember truly). (But in my device main screen full and can't change, not enough empty space, when i tap this settings, nothing happens.)
When you are in Maps, click on START, then show traffic and at the bottom will be the car mode.
