Hi,
I've a G-Note running ICS-4.0.3 , i recently noticed my phone is getting really hot and resetting automatically at times, on closer investigation i see 'CPU spy' data showing my phone running constantly at 1400Mhz mode!!! wanting to find which process is doing this, i downloaded watchdog lite and noticed that 'System UI' process is running at 49% approx CONSTANTLY, killing it re-spwans the process!! any idea whats causing this?? Please Help!!
Not rooted, never flashed, on original upgrade, have nova launcher, use it rarely. no other launchers installed.
Restart fixes this sometimes, sometimes not.
Thanks in advance,
Ramgo.

Not that i can think of as a problem, been happening for a while now, could be any of the app! i have like 200 installed!!
Now its not system UI, its android syste, badass battery monitor shows kenel to have taken most of the battery (which seems mostly loop task, is this bad) and then android core process.

well try to remember from which app on this issue showed up.I had battery drain problem turned out it was because of an app that I had installed. So I unistalled it and my problem went away.Yours should be easy to spot try unistalling the recent apps or the ones you're suspicious of and see when you get deepsleep.
Check your battery status and see for the battery eater apps

I infact got deep sleep the whole day, 15 hrs just 10 percent drained! this problem has been occuring intermittently, deep sleep is still happenning, but when the phone is screen ON, its in the highest mode.
Hmm things got complicated.Like I said if everything used to be normal then all of a sudden this problem began then it should be an app I suppose?!Just like my case.
Install OS Monitor and see what's hogging your cpu maybe you can pinpoint the application if that's the case.
did anybody have a problem with Gsam battery monitor after it was upgraded from Badass battery monitor??? i was looking at it and was showing 100% battery drain due to application ( 0% for screen and phone radio)!! i have uninstalled it and seems fine i guess! atleast for now! charging now and its in the expected 200Mhz state.

Yes will do that!! Thanks! read my comment below, i think GSam Battery monitor submits some task or makes some query to the kernel which makes it to go in a loop, hence the android system seems to be using more CPU and not battery monitor itself
The problem is back!! HELP!!
I checked OS monitor, nothing seem to be hogging, occasionally android system, overhearting near the camera and resetting automatically, please HELP!!!

Hello,
I'm having a similar problem. When my Note is in standby sometimes it overheats without any apparent reason and battery drains very fast.
I haven't been able to trace the origin of this problem. I'm running on ICS 4.0.3 stock and no ROOT.

Have you installed any kind of launcher on your phone? If you have, do try to uninstall it for now. Install BetterBatteryStats, turn off any data connection.. 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth.. Remove any Live wallpapers(just use a static one), Uninstall any apps that connect or syncs online.
The last thing I could advice you is turn off Airplane Mode (at night), charge up your phone to 100% and just leave it for a day. Check back on BetterBatteryStats after on what apps/wakelocks is triggering the overheating.

Lot's of work... I'll have to find some time to try all of that.
Thanks.
Early last week my Note started to reboot whitout any apparent reason. It happened 2 to 3 times a day. Specially in the morning when battery was still above 60%.
The overheating also happened from time to time but not everyday.
Saturday I figured I had to do something extreme to end this.
First I downgraded to a pre-rooted GB rom. Afterwards wiped the GB rom. Then upgraded to stock ICS. Everything worked out fine and was very easy to perform, thanks to all the guides available on XDA.
Last of all I rooted the ICS.
Until now the Note hasn't overheated or rebooted again.
I really thought it would be harder to do all this. But now I think it would take me about 20 min to do all these procedures.
Thanks to all the people that posted the guides on XDA.

I'll take that as a joke.
Three days in and still no unwanted reboots or overheating.
Gents if you have nothing constructive to provide in assisting the users with real help, please refrain from off topic mindless humor. Thank you.
A week after I've re-flashed ICS on my Note, the unwanted reboots have come back.
It must be some app I've installed again or maybe something much worse. I've read lots of threads and was wondering if a custom kernel and a different ROM might solve this problem.
One thing I've noted, the reboots never happen at night only during the day (mid-morning and mid-afternoon).
Any new ideas to help me find the source of this problem?
EDIT:
I'm running on LPY Kernel, so wipe is not an option...
I don't know what's causing this. Anybody have the same situation as I have? Any ideas to remove Android OS battery drain? TIA

Every now and then i have the same problem, Android OS chewing my battery dry...it keeps my phone "Awake" all the time, like when i sleep for 8 hours it eats my battery over 30% ... but, after a restart or 2 or 3 restarts it gets back to its usual behavior, phone goes to sleep when i don't use it and i get easily 2 days of medium usage...
i still have stock ROM and dont know what keeps the Android OS working all the time in the background, but as i said it happens rarely, maybe 2-3 times a month,so probably its some sort of a glitch
P.S. @NoTricks , 2 months ago i installed Dropbox app and even i have had its settings not to upload anything automatically, the application was working all the time in the background killing my battery super fast...after i uninstalled it the phone went back to normal battery usage...just my personal experience with that app....

Yeah, Same Here, My battery drains faster when I install an app that always runs in background. I tweaked my S3 Mini's Minfree values and it helped a bit, but it reduced my phones powers in multitasking.

Hey, sorry to hijack your thread, but I also have a drain issue, but I didn't want to open a new thread just for my issue.
I'm on a C6902, stock rom, stock kernel, bootloader locked, rooted. Every once in a while, Android system or Google Search randomly decides to keep my phone on a wakelock. I have to keep checking and a reboot fixes it. I just wanted to check if this was normal, or if I should reflash the firmware. I'm on the Global (Singapore?) version of the firmware, since I bought it there last month, and updated via OTA while I was there to .108.
I am currently in India and am experiencing this issue, didn't really experience it there.
Any pointers?

I was having similar issue, except that my battery was running out of juice in 6 hours, I had bought a new phone and I was devastated.
I was on .108 and System / AndroidOS was taking 80 percent of my battery juice (an obvious wakelock) depleting it in hours.
What solved it for me, wasn't a single thing but a few small things.
1. Root and move to SlimKat or PA, or a stock based ROM preferably Trinity Revolution.
2. Install TricksterMOD, set governor to OnDemand / Interactive. (preferably, Interactive).
3. If you are on Trinity Revolution with Trinity Kernel do these in addition to 2.
i. Enable "Eco mode". (If your father doesn't do any resource hungry stuff on phone and can deal with minor lags here and there).
ii. Switch off MPDecision and enable Intelliplug.
4. In your WiFi setting, go to Advanced > and switch off "Always scan for available WIFI networks".
5. Go into Mobile Networks, and set Preferred Network Type to "2G".
6. Disable auto-syncing of Google Account.
7. Install TitaniumBackup and freeze services like Google Search, Print Spooler, Cloud Print etc.
With PA, and using only what I just mentioned, my phone now can have over 5 hours 42 minutes of ON SCREEN time and over 13 hours of standby with 25 percent battery still remaining.
If you enable "eco mode" your on screen time would increase upto 6 or 7 hours, which is as best as it could get on any phone.
Hope it helps.
P.S
AnrgKrshn your problem may also get solved by uninstalling the latest updates of Google Play Services. It didn't work for me but many people swear by it. Google is your friend.

Charging and normal use like facebook the phone gets heated even if i use camera for 10 mins phone gets heated and camera stops for cooling
Overheating during charge is normal. Especially if you play games, and also Facebook, because display is turned on whole time it heat even more.
Also, camera somehow manage to overheat phone to. So I assume this is normal also, every z1 I had in my hand have this kind of "problem" especially if you use augment reality or some other effects.
So nothing wrong with your phone on that one.

Just Google it bro. You'll find a link to an XDA thread. It's pretty simple.
Hey guys,
Recently my 3T has started lagging bad at random points in the day... It would be working fine one moment and the notification pull down would start lagging, then the rest of the UI would start lagging too, and then the phone would get really hot and my battery would start draining fast. Here is my usage. I also have franco kernel #32 flashed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I need this phone for work.
Cheers

I have a feeling it the issue might be the systemUI pocket sensor, since whenever this random drain occurs systemUI goes to the top of the battery list. Here are more pics
In general your battery drain is quite normal.
3.2%/ hour is not bad for 12 hours use.

Then why is systemui at the top of the usage list? I never this seen a week ago, and it would cause my phone to get uncomfortably hot. My phone would also start to lag, which I dont think is normal. This only happens when systemui is at the top. My standby time is great due to Franco kernel, its just when my screen is on is when the drain starts.

No, after I restart the phone the lag goes away, but systemui still has a decent amount of usage and I can't detect with betterbatterystats (If you can, I am unable to read the stats I gave a screenshot of)
Here are my recent usage stats this cycle.
I have substratum with some themes and joneplus tools installed, could that be it?
EDIT: ignore the laptop picture, my bad.
Hi, what are you using to increase your battery life? I have never used such an apps (only doze of course) but now with Oreo I have quite an idle battery drain so wanted to try something.
What do you recommend and what do you use?
Naptime? Naptime with franco kernel? Grenify? Naptime+Grenify? Naptime+Grenify+aggressive doze? Since some time Greenify has similar options to Naptime but what I read naptime works better? Is there any advantage of using paid versions?
None, those apps are useless.
If your ROM has it, use Privacy Guard. That's all.
I have also replied to you at the other topic that you were asking something similar.
I am using Doze+Boeffla kernel+Akt profiles+Naptime.
Maybe it's an overkill, but it allows me to have almost 0% consumption during night.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
do you have aggressive doze on?
What AKT profiles are you using and how? You just install their APK and select what you want? And of course for that you need root, right?
I've literally tested on Oreo using without any that kind of apps, vs using it, and actually, i found out that it didn't really do any noticable difference. So on oreo i feel its quite unneccessary.

I would use a wakeblocker. NOS has one built in.
https://github.com/MrLast98/scripts/blob/master/Wakelocks.txt
Those are the wakelocks I block. It gives me about 5 hours SOT vs 3.5. Don't have to charge for 2-3 days, granted I use my phone much less than other people.

7-8h SOT
for the AKT profiles do you need to have root? As I see it works even on stock kernel.
My SOT is terrible, from morning til evening I can get it fine, but I sometimes I need my phone for 2 days without charging and then it is a problem. My idle drain is quite high.. and it is mostly from the system or something.

Disable "WiFi scanning on all the time" under WiFi settings. Your WiFi does not shut down in idle Mode.
scanning is OFF but wifi during sleep is ON, without this I will not get notifications after some idle time during the day
