It's a silly question, but is there a way to completely remove user profile picture (Settings > Advanced > [User mode] Users > ...)? Not to replace it, that's obvious, but to completely remove it? Tnx!
remove my profile image from contacts on samsung S8+
I bought this S8+ 5 days ago and all of a sudden with all texts I send there appears an image of a Giraffe? In my contacts the Giraffe appears again with my name below it. How does this happen and how do I remove that stupid Giraffe for ever? Ty

Good question, I never thought about this
It seems you can remove the picture by editing your own contact card (found the answer on "androidforums")
Some steps:
Contacts > Me (your contact card) > Edit > Select your profile picture bubble > Remove photo
Hope this helps!
I didn't have my picture set in my contact card, so I didn't have anything to remove. When I set my contact card picture, the user profile picture changed to same picture. Then I removed my contact card picture and the user profile picture was gone.
So, your solution worked like a charm. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the advice, but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. There is no "Me" in the contacts now, but a separate contact at the top of the contacts and when changing the contact's picture unfortunately it has no effect on the user's profile picture...
It's on Android 10 - Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T595) Sep 2020 update

Why don't you sync to Outlook and delete everything from Outlook? That way all your contacts on the phone gets deleted and the only thing visible would be SIM contacts.
Go to programs > system Tools > Advanced Config and scroll down to phone. Choose Show Sim contacts and change the value at the bottom to NO.

Please read before posting. OP wants to only show SIM contacts.
<EDIT> Decided to keep looking through the forum and found this post. I'll try it tonight. Thanks.

Is this something that is only available in Dutty's ROM or should I see this on my Tilt with the standard ROM I purchased the device with? I would love to be able to turn off the SIM view if I could. Considering flashing the ROM, but not sure I want to jump in yet (I'm no techie!).
Thanks,
JoJo
No there is the KAisersimfix.cab, the program just mentioned above and the Kaisertweak. All of which is searchable.
You're too quick! I kept on searching while you were replying and ended up finding it.
Thanks.
can somebody tell me why when i recieve a text the sound doesnt play(i have at&t notify as my text tone)..and in the chat the letters are really small,is there a way to fix that??
i figured out the sound issue but does anybody know how to make the text bigger??
this should do the trick for you:
Start > Settings >
>
click on "System" tab
>
click the "Screen" incon
>
clcik the "text size" tab
>
set to a size you like
that should be it.
thanks alot,that worked.
No Problem.
I know I had recently seen it, but I had to play with my phone for a bit to find exactly where.
Glad I could help...
Whenever I receive a new SMS, only the contact number is shown.
I have to dial it up to see who it is.
How do I make it so the contact name will be shown instead of just the number?
Thank you.
That is weird. If you have the contact saved with that contact number, it should show. Is the format your numbers are saved in the same format that is received with the text messages? Also, is this with the stock app or with a 3rd party one?
Thank you for your answer.
Yes, it is the stock app.
Everything is stock on this device.
the numbers have a code (041 - for distance dial) before them, but this was not changed recently whereas the problem just recently started to happend.
Did you verify that Messaging -> Settings -> Only Mobile Numbers isn't checked?

I could not find such option, bassmadrigal.
You can try clearing the data for the messaging app found in Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Messaging
This *shouldn't* wipe your text messages (they should be stored in a different area), but it probably wouldn't hurt to back them up beforehand. I use SMS Backup and Restore found on the market.
I am running DU 9.2 and I can get the other persons contact pic to show up, but mine is just grey with a white guy inside of it.
Does anyone know how to fix this? When I click on the picture, it shows my contact info, including my picture, but I would like it to show up in the thread
It works in messenger, but not messaging
Solution
Go to contacts, you will see your contact there. Edit it. Click on the image in editing options.. You will see 3 or 2 profiles, change your image there and save it. It will be updated in the messaging app.
Is your phone number written to your sim card? Check settings > about phone > status > sim status

Unfortunately this is one of the few bad things about Lollipop. The ability to display only contacts with numbers was removed.
These are the only options I've been able to find of what contacts to display
I had this option in my Note Edge, but in S6 I don't see it.
I was looking under phonebook, contacts etc.
Where is this option? Is it really gone?

I found a way to fix this but it takes a bit of savey but this is a developers forum...
Export your google contacts (csv)
Sort your contacts by the phone number (there's 4 fields there, I sorted all 4 type/number) since I wasn't entirely sure the mobile 1 is really always there or not if there is a mobile 2 (1 is primary) but regardless I just wanted to separate the entries with phone numbers and those that didn't.
After sorted I deleted everything without a number.
I went into gmail and made a Phone contact list (if you want you can make an example entry so you know what it looks like I guess) but I could tell it was like * something:::* All Contacts in the one field, I just changed this to * Phone:::*All contacts
then I wrote out the file
Unfortunately even thought it's a CSV it tab delimited it vs comma (this may have been the libreoffice)
so i edited with vi and substitute all tabs with ,'s
s/(control-v)(tab)/,/g
when I did this is also had three "blank" lines at the beginning with all ,'s so I just deleted those to get the titles on the top.
I then went back into gmail contacts and imported this file
It populated all those entries in my Phone contact list
I then went to the phone and told it to only display entries from my Phone contact list and ...
PRESTO - I see only the entries with numbers now
Everything else is there but I don't see it in my phone when i want to select someone to dial!
Personally I think this is BS to have to do this but I just don't think there is another option.
Solution
A simpler solution is by going to Contacts - Settings - Display preferences - Hide incomplete numbers.
Im running MIUI 7 Lollipop
