On the Note7 there was 'Night clock' where you could have the standard AOD run for certain part of the day then the 'Night clock' would kick in - essentially the same as the current 'Edge clock' on the S8 etc and from what I've seen on Note8 demo units in carrier stores.
So it appears to be that on the demo units 'Night clock' is missing - is this true for the Note8 units now in people's hands?
We in the UK haven't had our pre-orders shipped. Looks like a 15th delivery date despite ordering during the NYC presentation (for me).

This feature was removed from the S8 series. I am not sure why. Looks like they didn't bring it back for the Note 8. Loved it on the S7edge and Note 7.
It's in AOD settings

on the Note 7 it was a separate setting.
so you could enable always on display for 'all day' then pick a specific time for the night clock, like 11PM-7AM so it would displzy the regular AOD during your normal awake time and the night clock when you normally go to bed.
now it just lets you choose one or the other.. a real step back IMO.

less active pixels for the amount of hours it's in night mode should mean that it kills the battery less.
It has the night clock option.

Ok guys. Try this... set your AOD to display a digital/analogue clock (or other AOD content). Then set 'Edge clock' for 9pm to 7am. What happens? You get one or the other, not both.
On the Note7 you would get the digital/analogue clock (or other AOD content) from 7am to 9pm and then it would switch to 'Edge clock' from 9pm to 7am. I currently have an S8+ and this isn't possible.
What happens from 7am to 9pm schedule? Nothing on the display...

I think the 0.5 percent of battery AOD used, there was no sense in keeping the option. I keep my note on the wireless charger with AOD enabled to tell me the time at a glance. No clocks in my bedroom other the the note lol

Yes, I think this is the questions too. On my S7E I find the normal AOD too bright when by my bed, so I can get it to automatically switch over the Night Clock (Edge Clock on the N8), as can be seen in the Settings Screenshot. This is a very useful feature.

Sadly the night clock has been removed from Note8. I too always had the night clock scheduled to come on between 11pm-7am. The edge clock is different, you have to manually set it each time.
Another thing I've noticed is missing from the AOD is the option to show calendar appointments and tasks, now you can only select the calendar which shows the month calendar. I will really miss not having this option. ☹
I just noticed this aswell. I wonder which moron at Samsung thought its a good idea to cancel this feature. My note 8 buy feels more and more like a mistake....
Night mode was imperative for me as I have a very light sleep and this did not interfere with my sleep cycles but I was still able to see the time if I glanced at it.
Now its either on or off.....what a terrible decision

Not the OP, but I get up a couple of hours before I have to work, so theoretically that's all I need.
Is there such an app that can run on the Galaxy Gear then?
So much like the fitbit bands and the new Gear 2 range it will monitor your sleep??

Yes and no. The Gear 2 sleep monitorig is very poor and only limited to 'no movement detection'. So if you havea bad night and cannot sleep, but just keep your eyes opened it will just tell you that you had no movement for 100% of the nigt.
Not reallly a monitoring system that should be linked to heart beat and other valuable information.
True but given that a FitBit or other fitness band would also not be able to tell if you have your eyes open or not, its never going to be the most reliable way of recording sleep anyway!
With regards to the Galaxy Gear then... you're saying that there is an app to use on the watch itself?
Sleep as Android
I used ADB to install Sleep as Android. I bought this app a few years back, and I've loved it ever since.
Used it on all my android phones
-HTC Aria
-Motorola Atrix
-Samsung Galaxy
-Samsung Galaxy Note
-Samsung Galaxy S4
I just got a Galaxy Gear 1st Gen, and figured it was worth a shot. It installed and ran without issue here at the office. When I get home in 3 hours, I'll do a quick charge of my Galaxy Gear (I love how fast this thing charges) and then I'll go to sleep and see how the battery holds up and how the tracking does.

well... that didnt work out as well as I hoped. I came home, curled up in bed. Set the app, the screen dimmed off, and I went to sleep. I woke up around 2pm, and went to check the app and its nowhere to be found under apps. I checked in the background apps, its running, but when I tap on it, it doesnt launch. I rebooted the watch, the app is missing from the apps section. Im going to install nova launcher and try again later
Graph Indeed Saved
So I got into the office tonight, and sideloaded NOVA Launcher, and found the "missing" sleep as android app
looks like it did properly exit and grab my sleep graph. Today when I get home I'll try setting Nova Launcher as my default (this scares me, as I'm worried about it interfering with watch functionality) as see if it works a bit smoother, than it did yesterday.

From the official demo video, the app seems to detect patterns as if it was the phone lying on your bed. having the app on your hand would (i think) give the accelerometer much different results. Does your method seem work well? I'm really interested in getting this watch if this works!

Performance - the best QHD resolution phone I tested so far. Smoothness 95% as they is still slightly 3 seconds delay opening recent apps, the briefing add on is not well done especially the open effect, it is not pull out but jump out. Hmm... sometimes they is still slightly jittering when minimise apps and also during scrolling 2nd apps under multi window.
Real Camera - extremely awesome, I believe the best so far in day light, night shoot wise second best. Today later will do some comparison with iPhone 6 plus. The taken time is extremely fast, no single delay event at night.
Front camera - great for selfie, bright and clear. The wide selfie wise is not as easier to use as promote.
Screen quality - I give 95% as well. If you dimmer down the screen then you will notice they is slightly color shift at bottom part at white background. It is more easier to see the wave on bottom end when you put the phone horizontally and look closer to eye. I check others demo set at Samsung store and all same. Please don't purposely check it if you never seen it. But this is by far much much better than my previous Note 3 AMOLED screen. Beside this, the screen is absolutely awesome! The best AMOLED screen I ever seen and use.
QHD resolution - is this gimmick? Hardly to said, seriously I can't spot any differences compare with FHD. Oops! It is not like HD to FHD that kind of big differences wow!
Battery Life - surprisingly great! At least the SOT is better than Note 3.
Touchwiz UI - the best ever by Samsung. Flat nice design and finally can put folder inside apps drawer everywhere back not like initial release in S5 UI which can't. They is two draw back compare with S5. Why Samsung remove the color selection for folder! Also the new briefing is badly implement compare with S5 one. Beside this please implement way for disable or moving to bottom the S Finder and Quick Connect at notification, it is annoying as sometimes I do accidentally click it when clicking the clear button.
Samsung widget - I love all the Samsung widget, this time all well done with flat look semi transparency especially the main clock weather widget.
Bloatware - I don't find any extra Bloatware this time. Those keep complaining Samsung is bloat shall really go check it out before judge. Also if you use China phone especially Xiaomi then you will know what is really call bloat.
Loud Speaker - far louder and better than Note 3 but put back at real is really a big wrong decision. Why oh why you move from previous great bottom location to real. Now I truly miss my HTC One M8 awesome stereo loud speaker.
IN OVERALL I GIVE SCORES OF 95%.
Some random shoot.
Here some night shoot. All auto mode. I am impress with the result.
More photos coming soon.
Note 4 (wide) vs iPhone 6+ (square) Part 01
- all auto mode with HDR Off.

I've just started messing with doze settings and aggressive doze settings. Surprisingly the googles yielded not very much about what the settings do and what are good values to use or experiment with. I found some, which I will link on the near future. Attached is my screenshot of the settings I did find. Initially it seems like an advanced configuration of an airplane mode like state with triggers to tell the device when to sync, such as only when not in doze mode. I say this because when I've awakened my phone from screen off, the WiFi has disconnected and reconnects ( like how when you toggle the advanced WiFi setting for when WiFi is to be on). Am I in thinking of it in the right way? Thoughts? Experiences? Ideas?

How have you never used it? Are you on a Marshmallow firmware? If so, you are always using it unless you intentionally do something to turn it off.
Doze seems to work great for me. Upwards of 6-7 hours SOT doing my normal stuff, which is pretty heavy use. But I got my Nexus 6 a month or so ago so I never used it on Lollipop so I have nothing to compare to.
I get 1.5 to 2.5 hours SoT on an average day. 3 if I'm barely using my phone at all.

What I meant was in terms of how long the battery life lasts in general from 100% down to 0%. Couple of days with me and high usage. I also use Greenify which allows for Aggresive Dozing, which enables itself after a shorter period of time, versus the longer length of time for regular Doze.
Today in the GalaxyNote9 subreddit, there has already been 2 defective Note 9 displays been reported. Both users purchased the US Snapdragon models via Samsung. One was a 512gb and the other 128gb. Both show the same green line down the right side of the display.
The phone hasn't even officially launched yet and the fact that we're already seeing 2 defective units on a subreddit with less than 3k users is VERY worrisome. I really hope this is just incredibly bad luck.
I pre-ordered mine through my carrier here in Canada and will DEFINITELY be testing it out in store before I leave.

Hello! I can't see anything wrong from the pictures. Can you tell us exactly what to see in them?
You do realise that millions of Note 9's are already in circulation.
If you are VERY worried I would cancel and stay with what you own.
Lemos will be found, 100% guarantee of that. It's unfortunate but a consequence of mass production.

Hahaha yeah that would be an amazing percentage, actually! 0.07% defect rate sounds like a WIN to me!
Based on the titles of these threads, you'd think this phone was a complete and utter disaster! "SCREENS ARE FAILING! MY S-PEN IS RATTLING! MY CAMERA LENSES AREN'T PERFECTLY CENTERED!"
Interestingly, I have seen almost no threads started with positive remarks, like "this phone is freaking amazing!" If one has not been started when I get my 512 in September, I will start one!

You aint lying man. Just thinking that everyone outside of the Blue 512gb will have their phones in hand tomorrow or this weekend really makes my blood boil. We should get some sort of discount because Samsung wasn't properly prepared!

Awaiting anxiously for the "light bleed" thread.

People put up pictures of their display comparison please. Not impressed with the whites on my note 9 compared to my note 8 and iPhone x. Side by side they look dirty yellow with the same exact settings. Returning

That's the first thing I did also. Whites were not as white compared to my n8. However, I no longer have the resolve or energy to care for it anymore lol. I think my n8 was the same when new. Don't remember.

September? when did you order? and from where?

Here are the two reddit threads:

They had the problem on the S9, had something to do with the digitizer. Was corrected in an OTA Update.

I originally ordered the 10th (128GB). Then I wanted to change my order and they couldn't edit it. So on the 19th, I canceled the order and reordered the 512GB. Sept 5 through Sept 12 is the estimated date.
Ordered through T-Mobile.
Anyone received it? IUS LTE model has not.
Last wednesday, I was unboxing my R920 I received an update.(GE bluetooth). But as far as I know, the temperature measurement is for female menstrual cycle only.

The only feature it turns on is female menstrual cycle tracking
Just tonight 4/27/23...got my update -- watch is SM R920. Post update, Software version is R920XXU1AWB1 System version 11, Wear ver 3.5 Wear core services 1.4.69.512673544. Update took about 20 minutes after the download. Seems like SpO2 is better than before, used to have to measure it with a finger now it appears to work on my wrist. I can (so far) find nowhere that body temperature is available or enabled. As a side note I am in Ecuador FWTW as far as regional settings/restrictions go.
Couple notes. Reboot after the last reboot thats part of the software update is a must. Trying to do anything without a manual reboot on mine was very laggy. The reboot helped. Seems on mine that SpO2 and ECG are definitely better but on stress and SpO2 the display seems a little laggy......also when charging the time display, batt % and time to full are different than before, larger and at center screen, something I personally like. Also note that the security patch is 2023-04-01.

So is mine, but mine is AWD6
This is truly weird. When I did the post mine was AWB1. Now it shows AWD6 same as what you see. thanks for this info. I am reading...and was reading...the information from the Galaxy Wearable app on the phone. Truly amazing. Without your kind reply I never would have spotted this.
Regards and thanks again.
An addendum. I have thin wrists, have always had problems with SpO2 since purchase....to the point where I finally gave up trying to read it with the watch on my wrist. Reading SpO2 with the watch on the same finger I use my monitor on....the watch would agree within a point. Before the update when it would read at all it would consistently be sometimes 5 points off. Since the update the watch so far reads reliably on my wrist and is within a point of the monitor. Additionally the watch seems more reliable reading ECG than before less poor reading messages with the necessity to read ECG again. Only thing I wish is the temperature sensor was enabled in the new update. Otherwise most excellent so far from Samsung. Will be interesting to see how battery life compares.
Still waiting for the US LTE version. It's so often the last to get updates...

Yes, but do you actually have in settings option to "predict using skin temp"?
Cause I bet like me (also running WDA on Watch 5 Pro) you don't have that option even if you select Cycle Tracking which men don't use.
