Are you talking about the secure folder?

Note8 comes with the Secure Folder.

I am using mine right now...

Private mode to hide your picture... Not secure mode

You should be able to move photos to the Secure Folder. Try selecting a photo in Gallery and pick the options - one should list the option to move to SF.
That's how it is on Note7. I still don't have my Note8. Maybe BlueFox721 can confirm.

I have private & secure folder on my S7E, & only secure folder on my N8. 6 one way, half dozen the other.

Smart View: Device to Phone ?

I noticed that the Note 9 has a new option in the Smart View Menu that says "Device to Phone" Im used to using the Phone to device to mirror my phone to different displays but can anyone elaborate on the Device to phone option now? Looks like its just limited to Samsung tv's mirroring to the Note 9? Can a few people try this feature out and see if it works with any other devices maybe. That would be really cool if we could mirror different devices to our phone now and use our phones as a display. Never thought about that as a feature but would be cool if Samsung gives us that option.
I have a T-Mobile Note 9 (just got it today) and it has no SmartView feature anywhere. Very disappointing.
I went to a local shop that had new Samsung QLED TVs. Tested it out with a Q9F. It worked immediately, got a prompt at the TV that a Note 9 want to connect and neede approval. All connection after that did not require approval again. I could see what is on the TV on my Note9 and on the phone I had options like "power" that would retain the movie on Note9 but blank the tv screen. I walked around the shop waching the movie on my Note9. There was a button "source" that I think would let me chose another input attached to the tv like a PS4? Almost like PIP but outside the TV screen. I noticed a small lag that would be irrelevant in movies but annoying on a intense FPS game on PS4. There was a noticeable picture scaling issue I guess because phone and tv have different aspect ratios. Might be fixable. Tried to take a screenshot of it but the screenshot was blacked out because of protected content. Will go back to the shop later and test this feature on other cheaper models. Very excited about this feature. And no one talks about it!

You have to update your phone to the latest update. Go to settings and check for update. It should be "update 22" I believe. Then after updated it will be in your quick settings. Slide down the home screen and then slide down again to open the quick settings. It will have a smart view button. Click on it and it will have the new option for "phone to device" or "device to phone". Hope this helps

Workplace(KNOX) and Private Folder together

On my Note 8 I had both the Private Folder running with some of my backup social media accounts where I engaged in political debate at the risk of life and limb. I also had the Samsung Workplace(MyKnox) running and used it for access to work so everything is nicely separated.
I am unable to download and install MyKnox, I even got the APK and I get the message "This device is not supported"
Do I have any other alternatives to have what I did with the Note 8 having Private Folder AND MyKnox? Is it possible to have two instances of Private Folder?
The Note 9's battery life alone was worth the upgrade, but losing the ability to keep the private stuff private and the work stuff also in its own container will be a shame.

Try side-loading My Knox from APK Mirror:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/samsung-my-knox/
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu.../samsung-my-knox-2-0-14-android-apk-download/
I don't use Knox,so,I'm not up on the workings of it.
However, the latest version shown here is from 10/2017,so,that would in dicate it's what you had on your Note 8.
Hope this helps, please keep us posted on your results
I tried to install but I get this error.
Are their any alternatives?
I really liked using the Secure Folder for my private stuff and MyKnox for work.
Any chance of having two instances of Secure Folder running?

I think My Knox is no longer available. I used Secure Folder and installed office mail apps and office bloat etc. in it.. And Airwatch MDM is probably thinking that it's a phone itself as it downloaded office bloat into that space and outside of it at device level, there are no restrictions wrt strict passwords etc.
I don't think it's possible to create more than one secure folder which is a shame but for me it's ok because office stuff is in a secure space and I can get rid of it when I want to.
It will be good to know more info on this topic.

Location mode, Default browser & more

Just got the p30 pro and it's a bit of a learning curve to access features from a oneplus.
1) Is it possible to access location mode on the p30pro?
In my older phones, I had access to 'High accuracy', 'Battery saving' and 'Device only'.
Can't seem to find that setting here.
2) The authentication page for a public WIFI network forces login via the huawei browser.
My default browser is set to Chrome, but it doesn't state so in default apps.
i don't wish to use the huawei browser. Is this a problem with EMUI not recognising I've set the default browser to chrome , or is there some other way of forcing the automatic authentication to use chrome instead of the huawei browser?
3) Does the front camera have zoom?
4) Can wallpapers be disabled?
cheers
1. Remember seeing it somewhere before but cant seem to find it now lol. Will update this shortly.
2. Settings- Search Default apps - Change browser to Chrome or whichever you want. Then it should open chrome by default
3. No zoom on the front camera and i guess no one zooms in on a selfie. Take a picture and crop it.
4. What you mean by wallpapers be disabled ? The megazine unlock ?
1. Please do.
2. I tried numerous times. It seems like the settings don't save the default app to chrome. It just remains as "default" which I assume is the Huawei browser. Maybe it's a bug?
3. I found another installed huawei app called mirror. That has zoom.
4. I meant I want a black or no background. Just plain.
Thanks.

2. Default is chrome... if it is set to Huawei Browser, it changes in default apps to Huawei Browser. If it is using Huawei Browser for Wifi Login this is similiar "bug" if you can call it that to iPhone using Safari for wifi even though chrome can be used for everything else... its probably has to do with the integration of the phone settings pack since it has to be something always on the phone in case you need it... since Huawei browser can't be uninstalled, this is probably the case...
3. Does mirror actually take pictures?
4. Just get a black box picture jpg or png and set as background... :good:

1. Think it's controlled by huawei's system so no way to change it, the one i saw was on my s10 plus. Im sorry, made a mistake.
2. I think they made it that way , can't try it my self here since there's no hotspot to test it out. Its like some china phones, when you install google keyboard and when it comes to type it the password, it reverts back to their stock keyboard.
3. Removed mirror app as soon as i booted it up after purchase
4. As mahst68 mentioned above, google amoled pure black wallpaper and then it will be all black.
1. Yes. Mine was on one plus. Useful.
2. Ah. Chrome is default. OK. Terrible implementation to force it to use the Huawei browser for authentication. Will have to live with it for now.
3. It does. Single tap to "pause" and you can save the shot. No fancy features like the camera, but it does have selection of borders. Not my thing. I just stick with borderless.
4. I guess that's a workaround that'll have to work.
Thanks for all the help so far.

On regards no.2, you can easily resolve it by removing the stock browser via ADB. Plenty of guides here , especially on the mate 20 forum

Good to hear this! I looked into this a little yesterday but can't do it on the computer I'm on because I don't have admin access.
Also good to know that it won't bugger anything else.
Once I'm done transferring all the data, I'll look into tidying up the apps and this will be one of those I'll do first.
I'll also need to look into whether I still require Es file explorer or whether the huawei privatespace and safe functions are good enough to lock away folders, files from prying eyes.

IMHO, i find Huawei's private space and safe to be better than other third party apps out there but obviously it's not up to par with Samsung KNOX yet. Hye, you can't win them all eh

Question Copy/paste

Asus ZenFone 8
I'm having trouble
When I Receive a passcode and need to copy just the code , but what's happening is when i receive the code it's not underlined so I can copy that code and not the hole message. Iv never had this problem with my old Samsung s10e .
But with my new Asus ZenFone 8. I need to remember the code and enter it manually . Any suggestions would be great.
Pen & paper.
This has nothing to do with the phone. Some apps do not allow copying parts of text. Like messenger for example.
Check if you have the same version as of the app as on the Samsung.

I'm pretty sure the locked folder feature is only for Google Pixel devices at this point (all devices might get it eventually). I'll have to take a look at Photos on my Tab S8 Ultra regarding Lens. I wouldn't think by now that it's only for Pixel devices.
Well, according to google Forums lens is built into photos app and should be working on any device by now.
I mean, I can make it without folder thing since samsung has something similar which actually works but living without lens integrated into photos is going to be tough - I use this function a lot.
I have Xperia handset and both locked folder and lens works.
Maybe it has something to do with photos not being system app on my tab s8+
Thanks for taking time and checking if it works on your tablet.

I doubt if it has anything to do with not being a system app.
Great news. I was able to do everything on the tablet. The only caveat is that to use Lens, I had to go into an image in Photos and choose the Share button and then choose Lens. FYI, the first time, I found that Lens was "disabled" (maybe from non-use?), so I had to enable it, plus there was an updated version available.
And I found the locked folder fine via two methods - the Utilities tab and the 3-dot menu inside an image.
All screenshots taken on my bootloader unlocked, rooted Wi-Fi only Tab S8 Ultra.

Help & feedback
You're welcome! Are you rooted, too?
Thanks again for taking time to help me!
So, yes I can see option to set up Locked folder now in utilities. Fanny thing, it wasn't there yesterday, but works now.
When it comes to lens, your suggested workaround works too. Minor inconvenience that now hole process takes couple of additional clicks.
Still, why it can't just work like on a phone? ( I guess my OCD kicks in ). Even windows version of google photos has lens functionality built-in, but hey, at least the workaround is there.
Maybe it's a tablet thing, there are two versions of Photos, one for handsets and one for tablets, right?

No, I stopped rooting my devices couple of years back. But maybe with this tablet I'm gonna start again. I would like it to be...more sock android like.

If Locked Folder still wasn't available to you, I was going to ask you how long you've had the tablet - I was wondering if maybe being left on and connected to Wi-Fi (or mobile data) would eventually lead to the feature being enabled for you.

I agree. On my Pixel 6 Pro, if I want Info about the image I just swipe up, but it's weird that on the Tablet UI they replace the Lens button with the Info button. Maybe that's something that'll trickle down to tablets eventually.

Not that I know of, at least as far as it's the same Play Store entry no matter what - but I don't know for sure. Maybe this evening if I remember I'll compare version numbers for the Photos app on my phone versus my tablet.

If the tablet were my main mobile device, I would want to, too. I don't have the time to micromanage my devices too much these days, though.

The tablet is brand new, I had it for like 3 days.
At first, the only message in utilities tab in photos was one about joining my libery with my partners. After I clicked it away the next morning message about locked folder appeared.
