Help me find this part - Xperia Z4/Z3+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Folks,
Long time - no see ! I just replaced the cracked screen on my Z3+ (huge PITA, btw) this evening - everything went well except for on one missing rubbery thing this sits between volume low button & the flex cable. It's the thing that basically the external button pushes against the internal flex cable. I'm pretty sure Xperia Z3/Z2 use the same part - but I just don't know what it's called and what to search for. Any link to the part would be great appreciated.
Thanks!

[Q] Touch Screen problem - on X1

Hello,
I have a problem with the touch screen of my xperia X1.
I did the screen calibration but the result is total chaotically. I installed the program DigitizerCheck and the result is: in the corners the pen is aligned with the screen, but in the center of the screen is a big hole with no respond. Near that hole the pen act a few (5 to 15) mm left or right.
Example:
+++++++++
+ +
+ _ +
+ I_I +
+ +
+ +
+++++++++
_
I_I – dead zone
+ - zones where pen act normally
Can be the touch screen dead? Curious is that when I calibrate the screen it feel the touch in the middle.
Thanks,
Marian
I suggest digitizer replacement. They are reasonably cheap too. Alternatively, might be a better idea to purchase the LCD + Digitizer in one unit, that way if you are unsure about how to proceed, the installation will be a lot more straghtforward.
In the end this is the last solution... but I want be sure that is nothing wrong as software... Anyway, here on market , changing of the pieces goes about 1/4 of a new X2 price... so i'm in undecided...
Thanks,
Marian
Check eBay, i think you are looking at somewhere around $15 or OEM for $27 or so, which is not bad at all.
To eliminate the soft/firmware as a culprit - flash/re-flash to the original ROM and see if there are any changes.
X2
In the end I bought a Xperia X2. Till now I'm very happy with it.
Thanks,
Marian

stuck again
The phone is really Ok (till now), but i encounted a little problem regarding migrate contacts from my X1 to X2. I use windows seven with media center bla bla… I connect my X1, sync it and everything is OK. Now I plug my X2 and sync… but it made only a backup of it. How do I sync my new x2 with my backup from X1?
Thanks

[Q] Touch Keys Out of Commission

Hello everybody!
To make a long story even longer I just got LCD replaced on my Acer Liquid E by a technician and the cable that makes touch keys on the bottom responsive (4 of them - Home, Search, Go Back, Menu) got damaged and now they don't work at all. All other functions are OK including camera button and + and - volume. Is there any way to reassign "camera" or "volume" button to be used as "home" or "go back" button ? Or is there an app that would allow you to get by without using those touch keys below the screen? If there is something that can be done would you please explain in great details cause I'm so damn it's scary.
Thanks a lot guys!
Not much help or advise from anybody to this point. But that is quite OK cause I happen to do some digging around and found solutions to my problems. One app is called Button Savior (Root). That's what the author says in the software description:
"Requires root
Requires USB Debugging enabled
If you are afraid of breaking your hardware keys or you have broken keys or you simply just don't have any key on your device, get Button Savior to make your life easier.
This app will display a floating software key panel which can be summoned everywhere anytime.
[Features]
(1) Simulates 'Home' 'Back' 'Search' 'Back' 'Recent Task' 'Screen Off'
(2) Can set to always open or auto hide based on user
customizable timer
(3) Two types of trigger action to choose from
(4) Added Camera key and Call key simulation
(5) Customizable trigger position"
Another one is called Soft Home for BarTender. And there are many more options available for similar problems.
Hi, I had your same exact problem! I replaced the screen by myself, and soft buttons stopped working. Since i didn't damage the cable, I'm 97% sure that the problem is the adhesive used to replace the old one. You need a special adhesive that "conducts" capacity (see h t t p : // focus.ti.com/lit/an/slaa379/slaa379.pdf at page 16).
When i tried to open the device again to replace the adhesive, I ruined a flat cable so now I have damaged the upper part of the touchscreen too, so I'm actually hoping to get it repaired under warranty without saying a word about what happened.
Fingers crossed!
I hope it worked for you my friend. Those Acers are nice phones till something goes wrong and you need to fix it. And Fido does not give a flying rat's ass if your phone is not on warranty. Their customer service just vanished over night the moment rogers took over. Very sad, it used to be awesome company to deal with. I got myself Galaxy S Captivate from AT&T, rooted and unlocked it and now using it on Fido.
Trying to replace the Display I didn't even noticed how I brake the flat cable of the AB88_A1__V1.1_Keypad_A_FPC. I have just received the Keypad Cable 50.H480W.005 from mk-electronic.de
Wish me luck putting my A1 device together.
Hello everybody!
I just bought a broken Acer S100, it had broken touchscreen (also the flat was broken) and there was no keypad. I mean, dismounting the phone, there was nothing related to the 4 buttons under the screen.
I just received the new new touchscreen, but still I don't have the keyboard. I read that dicer13 has bought the replacement flat, what I wanted to know is if the keypad is made only of 1 piece or if there are several pieces that are connected by the flat cable he bought.
IN few word, if I order the "50.H480W.005 Keypad cable" will I have everything to fix this phone or that's only a connecting flat between the mainboard and an other piece that goes just under the screen, which is missing?
On the other hand, will you suggest me to stop thinking about the phisical keypad and use, instead, the Buttun Saviour app? It is possible to use every normal function or the phone would be quite "limitated" and unconfortable to use?
Thank you very, very much for your answer!
nowhere is there an exact answer is whether or not it

Really? This has been said so many times before.
It's the ribbon / flex cable. It fails over time. You need to replace it. I've had to do it myself too. They sell them on eBay.
Thank you, I apologize for not having used the search button before what about the warranty? If I go to a SE center, they will repair my X1 for free or not?
yes i think the problem is flexible cable
If you can't order via ebay (I mean not everyone is having credit card beside the price is pricey for an old phone), you can try what I have practiced...

Manipulating your XPERIA X1's broken flex cable.
Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is manufactured by HTC. Since HTC is an advance company that produced PDA-Phone and its classes, some speculation about HTC hidden plan show up when Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 shows many problems; broken housing, terrible signal reception and unacceptable high price device. One of its other problem is flex cable. Once it is broken, it will start from giving unresponsive touchscreen till blackout screen while slider is out. Leaving the speculation, the problem actually can be prevented and cured...
See my tutorial about dissambly your X1 (you can try to look for in youtube)
- You can stop when the front and rear compartment being separated.
First method "Tape Patching", (not working with me)
- You can also apply this method as a prophylaxis, prevent this problem while you like using the XPERIA X1 keyboard.
- As easy as ABC, just put insulator tape on the scratch side of flex cable -see blue rectangle with red 'X' inside.
- You may put on another side but it will give a hard slide-out.
Second method "Arc Manipulator", (it's working)
- Try this when you are failing from the first method.
- You can make a very thin plastic with a proper size -see black rectangle with red 'X' inside- and the thick of the plastic should not be thicker than half height of left compartment -see gray rectangle. (I use broken Lego, about 2-3 mm thick and 1x2 cm large)
- Glued it as close as possible to the edge of the 'arc' flex cable -see yellow line.
Explanation: So even the flex cable being retracted while the slider out, the position of 'arc' flex cable is manipulated as closed slider flex cable position. You've got to be sure that the thick of the plastic will not make the flex cable out of the housing so for assurance, try to move the slide locker upside down several times -see gree rectangle.
Third "Replacing", (you will try this if you're inpatient and fully desperate)
- Replace with a new flex cable and don't forget to apply first method before you go on with your X1.

LCD won't turn on - help

Hello, guys!
Recently I bought an HTC One with cracked digitizer, but functional. It had a lot of scratches etc, but this is not important right now. I wanted to do a complete make-over so I bought replacement parts from the internet, I bought the front housing with the LCD screen and the back cover. I dissasembled the phone from the old housing (the one with the broken digitizer), and I assembled it back on the new housing. After all of that, I powered on the phone and it worked like a charm (the LCD and the touch-screen worked perfectly), but then I saw that the glass was a little out, I mean it was upper than the speakers cover, so I decided to take out the whole screen and to change the adhesive, because it was too loose and the screen wasn't staying properly. I succesfully did that, i put the screen back and everything was good, but when I wanted to start the phone, the screen remains black. And this is the problem I have. I mention that I worked very carefully with the screen, so I don't think the problem is at the screen. I disconnected and reconnected all the cables and still doesn't work. When I press the power button it vibrates and then it's making that sound like the phone is booting, but no image on the LCD. If I keep the power button pressed, the back and home buttons are blinking and then the same story as before, vibrates and then the sound. I really don't know what could be the problem.
I really need some help with this and I'm open to all of your suggestions. If you want more informations feel free to ask.
Thanks in anticipation!
To me it looks like you damaged one the flat flex cable.
When you took the screen out did it come like suddenly and maybe some tension was applied to the flat flex?
If I were you I would take it apart and verify the connection in the socket, maybe the socket was damaged or something and it doesn't make a good connection
I hope it works out for you
Thank you for your answer!
When I took out the screen, I took it out very carefully and there wasn't any tension applied to the flex cable, so I don't think this is the problem. I think it's more likely a problem with the socket on the motherboard, like you said, and it's not making a good contact. But what can I do about that?
