GPU Crashes App - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

It seems like anything that I do that involves the GPU in any meaningful way will crash said app, any 3D games, and snapchat filters that are 3D, even live message will crash.
I've tried contacting Samsung multiple times with this and they haven't been any help whatsoever, suggesting factory resets, etc.
So far I have tried clearing the cache, running in safe mode, doing a factory reset, I even restored the whole phone using odin.
Does anybody have any suggestions/seen this this issue before? I'm out of ideas...
Edit: just tried running Antutu, and it says 3D is unsupported.

Here is my Antutu score with the 3D message.

Com2Us "Unsucessful Download"

Ok so i've tried with a couple of different CM6 roms and i can't seem to get any of the free Com2us games to download. I've tried using wifi and OTA, neither work. The games i'm trying to get are Home Run Battle 3d Free, and Caligo Chaser Free.
I've cleared the Market's cache and have unmounted/mounted my sd card.
I haven't noticed any problems with other apps so i'm just curious is this a problem with my phone, the Arias in general or the publisher. I'm doubting the later since i can see recent comments on those games.

does it try to download and within a few seconds just stop and say unsuccessful?
if it does its probably because you dont have enough space on your sd card, it used to do that to me and it took me forever to figure out
yeah it starts up and almost immediately stops, sometimes after wipeing the cache it'll take a few seconds... I have 439MB free on my card so it should be good.

are you using nightlies? i had a problem with the CM6 nightlies doing this too
i went through alot to finally get this fixed
i flashed the stock rom and i finally got it downloaded and backed up the app with titanium
then went back to cm6 without using a backup and tried to download it before i restored the app and it downloaded, since then it has always worked for some reason
Im having the same problem with crush the castle and skies of glory. Has only happened with those 2 programs so far, only games seem to be a problem.
Ive ried the same fixes OP mentioned.

[Q] Slow Fr19

I installed Fr19, but it seems slower than on Stock... I even get slight stuttering in Fruit Ninja THD...
Anyone with the same problem? Or even solution? Thx
yes i experienced the same. What i did was to reflash again, then reboot twice so that the memory is cleaned. When i experienced that, I checked that my available memory was only less than 80mb. But after i reboot again the 2nd time, the memory was around 150mb. that's when it started to work normally. And you can even use Auto memory killer downloaded from market.
Okay I tried your method, maybe it's a bit better, but still slower then stock...
Even the gallery is slow, doesn't look good, when the pinch zoom, and swiping through my pictures is stuttering... However it didn't do this way on stock...
Even on quadrant i never get over 2700...
Edit... now I made 5 quadrant measures i got scores 2100-2400... even worse then stock...
please, can someone help me?
So I made all kinds of wipes possible, then reflashed, then restored just the user apps with titanium backup, now it's good, it isn't stuttering anymore
all kind of wipes? please explain..
all that i could find in cwm, data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats...

Camera problems on Android 10

I have the Verizon variant, got the Android 10 update the other day, and now my camera is hosed. Basically the app is slow to open, when it does regular cam and zoom cam seem fine, but when switching to wide angle, the app freezes and eventually crashes or I have to back out. Have done multiple factory resets, including finally not doing any restore, went into the plain-jane fresh system, and the camera is still a problem. Any thoughts? Thankfully I am still in the 2 year LG warranty, so I guess that might be the route.
Mine was a little rough to start as well, but it seems to have smooth itself out with a little use

Mine is garbage too. It basically doesn't work. It takes about a minute for an image to show, and then the image freezes. And video is a no go. I've tried safe mode, and factory reset. And I've tried other apps. Nothing works so far.

Y'all try clearing data for camera?
Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
As with every major Android update on LG device, try to make the backup using LG Mobile Switch, then factory reset, then upload the backup. Always helped with battery and camera issues on every LG device I owned.
I've tried clearing cache, clearing data, did the backup, did factory reset. Basically I've tried every single common fix there is that I know of. Camera is still garbage. Starting to think I might have to root and remove the stock camera app all together and install something different
Anyone else?

Question S21 Ultra started to lag and stutter since yesterday out of NOWHERE!! tried everything but still there?

hey so my s21 ultra which was working normal until yesterday started to lag out of nowhere ... the only thing that i did different in these 2days was gaming with my new clip on xbox controller and testing different games ,
I didn't install anything new EXCEPT that octopus key mapper and then Mantis gamepad pro but i didn't really set them up EXCEPT i just tried connecting my s21 ultra to my note 8 via usb c just to test if it worked but then note 8 ran out of battery like crazy...
It just looks like that app did it but i uninstalled all of them but still it is there...
any help? i don't want to reset anything !
Clear system cache.
Try in safe mode.
See which system apps are the most active, delete their data.
A user hidden setting may have been altered by a poorly written app, a possible rootkit etc or a hardware failure.
Factory reset if you can't find it soon.
does it lag in safe mode?
submit an error report on samsung members app > + button > error report if you think it's a software issue

That last line will make things difficult.
That would be the most foolproof software solution for a non rooted phone IMO. If you reconsider, I'd suggest a full hard reset.

Hard reboot or factory reset?
A hard reboot is fine. However a hardware issue may be present if this is needed.
Factory reset; it's always preferable to find and correct the root cause rather than doing a factory reset as the issue is likely to reoccur.
Exceptions; unremovable malware, rootkits, major firmware updates, old loads and altered hidden user settings.
I have the same problem, some video on gallery or YouTube, system crash, dji mini 2 app...no display, some apps crashes, android auto heating up the phone....

Backup all critical data now.
Find the cause before it boot loops you.
These are typically the only warnings, if any, before a boot loop. This is not normal behavior.
See which apps are using the most battery, try force stopping them, clear their data, disable them temporarily if possible.
Disable any power management!!!
If using a 3rd party launcher or power management, disable it!!!
Try in safe mode.
Take all factory installed apks especially system apks back to their factory load versions.
Turn off all cloud apps including Google backup Transport for now. Turn off Google Firebase.
Turn off all Google, Samsung, and carrier feedback.
Try temporarily disabling Google play Services, clear it's data.
Reset network settings.
Clear system cache.
Try a hard reboot.

so i fixed it after going to safe mode and realizing that it was not the system apps, then i reinstalled that mantis app and uninstall it again to make sure if it was stuck or not also there was this app called : NET SPEED INDICATOR that was updated recently and was flagged as crashed in device monitor so i uninstalled it too and boom, the device was normal again.
so happy that it was a software issue rather than hardware or malware one since i keep close control of what i install and not and monitor everything it was surprising to see such things in my phone, after years of Samsung phone usage it was really shocking to see such behaviors on my s21 ultra with freezing and crashing non stop.
thanks for the help guys!

S10 SM-G973F - huge stability issues

Hello everyone!
I'm experiencing very serious stability issues with my S10 SM-G973F running stock unrooted PDA/AP G973FXXUGHVJ5, CSC G973FOXMGHVJ5, MODEM/CP G973FXXUGHVJ1.
It started one day ago and the effect is apps crashing immediately after being started. And it affects all types of apps - Galaxy Store, Samsung Email client, banking apps.
Clearing cache partition seems to resolve the issue for a couple of minutes, after which the instability starts again.
I've never experienced such behavior with any Android phone so far.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Try in safe mode.
Back up all critical data... probably not going any where good
In safe mode it seems to be running fine. Is there a memtest app for Android or logging tool that can help me identify the reason?

Were any new apps added or updated?
Power management and launchers especially.
See what's running in Developer options>running services and Device Care>Memory. In Device Care try clearing all the cache apps then when it starts to misbehave see what apps just opened.
I've used that method successfully and avoided a reload.
I see nothing suspicious. Clearing the memory from Device care doesn't solve the issue.
I guess next step is hard reset...

Find the root cause. Otherwise it's likely to reoccur after the factory reset.
The only exception to this is undeletable malware or a boot loop (which is where you might be headed).
Before a factory reset try setting all settings to factory; this is a major inconvenience but not as bad as a factory reset.
Best to find and correct the root cause instead... it's staring right at you, look for it.
Many thanks for your feedback!
Is undeletable malware even possible on unrooted phone? I haven't installed anything new lately and my phone is very stock... And I almost never install anything outside Google Play - definitely not in the last months... On a regular computer I would run a memtest in a preboot environment. As far as I see - there is no such option on Android...

Unlikely but not impossible. An app that passed the Playstore tests can latter update a malicious payload, so there's that. Occasionally the user may inadvertently download a trojan preloader (or other malware) or it may slip past the browser and download itself. If it retrieves its payload, boom; many times it does so through a second website (linked to the first) if you click on it or are redirected to it. It's important to check the download folder daily for anything you didn't download. Social media sites can serve as a haven for these packages and conveniently link the preloader and payload all on that site.
Always back out of bad sites or close the tab, or close the browser than open/close tab or if all that fails clear browser cache, or worst case delete browser data. Doing this can save you a lot of... fun Brave browser is very well harden, nothing has ever breached it. Samsung is pretty good but I've seen it breached. A trojan preloader made it through without me approving the download, but it was deleted before it retrieved its payload
Scan with Malwarebytes, it may spot it if present.
More than likely it isn't malware. Android 9 and above are reasonably secure unless you do something stupid.
Just for the record if someone is experiencing the same issue - 24 hours after hard reset it seems that the problem is gone.
Hello navy3dfx, trying to install phone info made a capture of the first 2 in info.
