So I have never had this problem before. I want to backup my contacts from my phone into my outlook 2007, they flat out delete all my contacts on my phone! Not only that but if I get a new number on my phone and I want to update my outlook on my desktop, it gets deleted. This gets very annoying and I have never had this problem before, normally they merge my numbers from both. I have looked for a setting to fix this, but I have failed to do so.
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated! This gets very annoying when i have to go around asking for numbers AGAIN.
can't remmeber the exact details.. but if you were to delete the relationship of your PPC-PC, then add them again, you will have the option of saying which one has priority. Check those options carefully.
you can either do that or you can check your partnership settings...most likely you have it set so that if there is a conflict the system will replace items on your device... you can set it so that it dosnt do that or it replaces item on your computer instead
I have noticed this issue for awhile now. If i make a change to a contact on my phone it never gets pushed to GMail. Has anyone else noticed this? I have made sure Contacts was checked in Data Synchronization, i have even made changes, unchecked it then rechecked it and watched it sync. But those changes never make it to Google's servers. I know it worked in RC33 but i don't think it has worked since.
I do a lot of flashing and constantly keep losing new contacts or updates because of this. Its kind of a pain in the arse to remember what and who i changed in my contacts to update when i am at a machine.
Anyone?
Well you can buy mybackup pro and backup your contacts...But make sure you uncheck syncing of contacts in the data/synchronization settings. Never ran into that problem before.
you can try force-updating.
after you make a change, go to settings>data syncronization, uncheck and then check again the "Contacts" field, it will force a sync.
You should consider moving to a cupcake build already too, if only for the camera
Same deal
I have been having problems trying to sync up my contacts too. Everything is correct and the way that I want it on my phone and I want to push those updates to Google, but it constantly fails. Sometimes it fails with an little exclamation point next to the sync icon and sometimes it doesn't. I have tried it on both my rooted and unrooted g1 and I still have no luck even though I switch the sim card. I use mybackup pro and have been for a while but the file output format is nothing that can be uploaded to google (ie csv file) so I'm not sure where to go from here. Anyone have any ideas as to why the sync fails? My only thought is that Google refuses to sync because I am trying to sync a large number of contacts on my phone, with a very small number of contacts on google servers. Xmarks (formerly foxmarks) for Firefox does the same thing, it won't allow you to sync a large amount of information one way without giving you a popup message so your away of it just in case you don't realize that you are overwriting data. Maybe Google servers are similar only without the warning message?
My contacts NEVER sychronized with Google. Gmail works fine, MyMaps also synchronize but contacts and calendar never. And I don't even have these options in Data Synchronization menu (only Auto-synk and Gmail). Any ideea how I can fix this?
Thank you!
Some oddities I notice with Gmail and the new AT&T ROM for me.
The first is that in order to disable the automatic download of messages, I now have to pretty much click through all the account setup screens for the Gmail account. With the stock ROM, it was only a couple/few clicks to undo that setting. Just a little annoying.
The second is that two or three times now, removing the automatic downloading of messages didn't seem to 'take'. I'd uncheck that box and click "Done", and a bit later, my phone will alert me to new messages, and when I check the account settings, that box is checked again.
Weird.
Also, lately I've noticed that when I go into the Wireless Manager, Microsoft Direct Push is briefly on, but 'grayed out', and it turns to off as the menu finishes loading.

Am not using the leaked ROM so I can't comment on the Gmail stuff. As for the MS Direct Push, I believe you have to be using Exchange.

I don't use Exchange, and just find it weird that MS Direct Push seems to be "sneaking" on and switches off as the Wireless Manager pops up.

Since you do not use Exchange, direct push should be off.
Searched all through the One forum without success so I am thinking I have a bad HTC One.
I am trying to Sync MS Outlook contacts to the One.
Downloaded the HTC Sync manager and followed the instructions, no go.
Spent over 1 hour with HTC support this morning and result is that I should turn on "usb debugging" and re- install HTC Sync Manager.
Managed to turn on "USB Debugging" but still no sync of contacts.
This cannot be a known issue as there are no posts on this forum about this so has anyone out there got any suggestions?
My old HTC Touch HD2 is now too far gone so I do need to resolve this even if it means "backing" the HTC One and choosing another phone.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Regards to all.
I think you are trying to hard
for me, I added my email address using the Exchange active sync option and the contacts all dropped in.......
Is your screen locked when trying to sync?
Do other things sync?
Are you saving your contacts locally in outlook? or are they synced via and online account?
Which version of office are you using?
I'm installing office now to see if I can sync contacts.

I was just able to successfully sync a contact from outlook to the htc one. I had trouble getting the sync manager to recognize my device but after that it was a breeze. I don't mind helping you. Does the sync manager recognize your device?

I do not know what is going wrong with my phone.
I am using Win7 OS with Office 2010, bog standard single user setup, Outlook is default for everything.
I got a follow up from very helpful HTC support.
Basically uninstalled evrything, deleted all HTC from Hard Drive, Hard Reset to phone and re-install everything with Kaspersky turned off.
Same result, HTC Sync loads and sets up OK, Phone connects OK, USB Debugging is ON, Sync Outlook Contacts and it zooms from 1% to 100% in seconds and nothing appears on phone.
Everything goes like clockwork except no transfer of sync for Contacts, Calendar or Bookmarks.
Maybe I am looking in the wrong place?
I go to "People" and look for my contacts there, is that correct?
Should I be configuring anything else?
Thanks for your attention, it is really appreciated.
Best Regards

Maybe I am 'trying too hard', but if it's not working I really do not know any other route other than to try harder.
Get what I mean?

To find my contact I went to The dialer swiped right to "contacts" and the contact was listed there. Be sure to check in the upper left corner that the all the sources in the phone book are checked.
In the HTC sync manager Try turning off sync for everything accept for "People". Then click settings and change the "Sync all contacts from" option to outlook. Then sync. Then afterwards try searching for the contact and let me know what happens.

Well that did the trick!
When you suggested that I only sync "People" I was about to reply and say I cannot select what to sync when I noticed that some Goon had not ticked any of the boxes..... errr.. hmmm.. well lets not dwell on this.
In my (weak) defence I thought the boxes were "greyed out" and never even tried to tick them. Cannot think of anything else to explain this other than being a complete nit-wit.
Ticked the box and everything worked as you knew it would.
Thanks for your help, very much appreciated, I will now go a sit in a dark cupboard for a few days.
Regards.
No worries, if you check some of my posts. I'm sure I've done some similar things.
I'm just glad I was able to help and you didn't get rid of your phone! Have a good one.
HTC syncing not obvious--thanks for your post

in response to the comment by "technoweary" apologizing that he/she missed selecting some options, I do not think it was obvious or intuitive at all how this works. I just followed the directions and got it to work (thanks to Kelbizzle(!)). In the "more" settings view, with 'people' 'calendar' 'bookmark' sections, there is a sync button at the bottom (two semicircular arrows chasing each other around), and you can click on that all day long and think it's doing something useful--what usability genius left it there, and also thought it better to force the user to click into the next screen ('people') and force the user to activate the sync there? But it isn't until you follow the directions that Kelbizzle provided, that it actually works. This is a very idiosyncratic issue with the HTC interface, and I, too, greatly appreciate the tip provided here.
I've spent several hours tonight trying to figure out how to sync both music and outlook to my phone, and you practically need a PhD and a lot of random clicks to get it to work. I actually had to install HTC sync manager from the HTC One before it would do any sync'ing at all.
I just got this tablet today. Shortly after the first boot, I got at message that Contacts has unexpectedly quit. I have not gotten it again since the update, however is is not syncing. It did manage to get 4 contacts, and that was it. I have forced a resync several times, but still not working.
Any idea on how to fix this? I really need my contacts on this tablet. Perhaps it is possible to install Google People?

I suggest to update the ASUS Contact app via PlayStore.
I did that already. No difference. What I did end up doing, I exported my contacts to a file, then transfered that to this tablet. It does get my contacts on my tablet, but my **** don't sync. Lol
Try this:
1. Go to Settings/Apps/All.
2. Select "Contacts Storage"
3. Clear Data.
4. Go back to your contacts and see if it populates properly now. Make sure "contacts to display" tab has Google selected.
