With the recent rumors on OP4/5 specs and release date should I get the OP3T or wait ?
I can't stay 2 or 3 more months with the state of my current phone btw.
U can buy!!!
If you are not worried about cosmetic changes like dual curved display(rumour) and all then u can definetly go with op3t because i beleive sd 835 performance relative to sd 821 will be neglible.
did you own your oneplus device?
if not, go and buy 3T without waiting.

Not so sure about it. From Snapdragon 820 to 821 there isn't a huge gap, but from Snapdragon 821 to 835, there will much differencies, like "revisited" Fast Charge for example.
I have bought One+1, One+2, and One+3, and have all of them within my family. So, I think I have the necessary authority to comment on the matter.
If you want a simple answer, it would be "yes, please go for it."
The complicated answer would be, it would depend on your situation.
If you don't have a primary driver and need a smartphone urgently, go get the OnePlus 3T. Don't wait for the next iteration as it will not be worth the trouble if you don't have a phone like 3T.
But if you already have a primary driver then advice you to wait for a couple of months.
By the way, my primary driver is One+ 1, with no regrets. I look down on other phones no matter how new, because One+1 still manages to perform and look better than them. You can call me a "phonist" (like the racist), you know what I mean.

there will be relatively big differences but there will not be big performance differences, like it might be deca-core but it will be low GHz so almost obsolete difference, really there will just be cool differences that we will all love to try and make the most of but really within a month it'll be like eh basically the same.
I don't understand posts like this....if you always wait til the next upgrade you'd never buy a phone!
The 3t is already touted as one of the best phones around (for the money it certainly is), so why hesitate? The OS is in a good state, its reliable and fast and has only been out a couple of months. Personally I think it could do with a bigger battery - fast charge is a poor way to go about reducing the size (and cost) of batteries in devices. People want longevity, not having to carry around chargers incase it doesn't make the end of the day! I wish manufacturers would start listening and putting in bigger batteries. My Huawei Mate 9 Porsche has a 4000 mah battery and has no problem reaching the end of the day yet the device is the same size as the OP3T!
The screen could be better too. But its certainly zippy non laggy and ticks all the right boxes.
With all the news going around Huawei's false advertisement relating to the storage chip and the ram, is there news about what Huawei will decide to do, or are they still going quiet.
I'm still interested in getting the P10, but not knowing what i'll get. For those who does who have crap version, is there any noticable differences in normal daily use.
I'm open to suggestions, otherwise I have to decide whether to get the S8 or G6, but I prefer the P10 over those two.
Thanks
I think models in Europe should mostly have ufs storage. As for the ram, I've read that the kirin 960 cpu only supports lpddr4 type memory.
At the moment I have a p10, single sim 64gb version and have ufs memory, speeds are just shy of 700mb/s. Before I had an s7 edge.
I can say only this about my p10, it is BY FAR the fastest android phone that I have used. And I have used many. It rivals the iPhone 7, even beating it in some cases.
About the emmc version, I have watched a speed test between a xiaomi mi6 with ufs 2.1 and the xiaomi was faster by about 3 seconds at the end of the app opening test. They opened about 15 apps one after another and measured the total time.
Where they comparing the Xiaomi device to a eMMC device? Otherwise it's not comforting anyone getting a eMMC device
I am from Hong Kong, and we have the dual sim version, although I can check many phones at the shop, but I am not able to do this for the Huawei.
Will there be a really big differences between the memory used.

Yes, they were using a p10 with emmc memory. The speed difference was minor compared to mi6 with ufs 2.1.

I do not think there is much of a difference. Maybe only when copying large files.
Apple has done this with the iPhone 7 also. The baseline iPhone 7 and 7+ with 32gb of internal storage have about three times slower read/write speeds than the ones with 128/256.
Better to wait a month more for newer batches and less rush, so that the device comes with olephobic coating and UFS 2.1. However i don't expect a drop in price although might catch some temporary offers.
Thanks, got one locally and a brief testing, i get UFS 2.0, i'm happy with it, as long as it's not eMMC, even my sony Xperia XP is eMMC, and it's works well for me, although i traded it for the P10.
Is there a problem with WiFi speed on the P10? I saw some reviewers complaining about WiFi performance being way inferior compared to other 2017 and 2016 devices. Like P10 barely reaching 30mbit download speeds on 100 and more Mbit networks.

Thanks for the answer.
Is it a 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz network? My current device - OnePlus 3 performs very good on 5Ghz but on 2.4Ghz it only reaches maybe 20mbit. And I use a 150Mbit broadband link at home. My wife's iPhone 6s easily tops 100mbit on the same WiFi.
The issues that some YouTube reviewers reported with the P10 looked like the one I have with my OP3.
I am considering an upgrade to P10 and I really want it to be an upgrade
Ufs 2.0
Not bothered about the silly bollocks thing as this p10 is the best phone iv had, certainly the fastest, coming from owning every HTC flagship since 2011

My first Huawei, and I really like it, choose this over the S8 and G6, it's a shame the pink version isn't available in Hong Kong, we only have the blue, black silver and gold, whiles china also have a pink and green, anyway, I intend to change the metal back, it's readly available in china very cheap, and seeing youtube, it's also very easy to change.
Also I get 42Mbps with 2.4Ghz and over 98Mbps with 5Ghz in wifi.
Not recommended to buy, I think xiaomi 6 more affordable

I have tried both on 2.4 and 5Ghz, though where I live internet speeds aren't so good, so the max I could have tested is 50mb/s. On both i always get over 48mb/s

it's down to personal preferences really, Mi 6 don't have a headphone jack and no micro SD card slot.
I've also owned a few flagships from HTC, Samsung and even iPhone.
Must admit that the P10 still is one of the quickest phones I've used. Battery does well, charging is quick.
Camera is fun to use and crisp. Fingerprint scanner is lightning fast. And I very much like the design of the phone.
Could've gone without EMUI, but given the opportunity to buy another P10 or a different flagship, I'd still opt for the P10.
I have 200/80 connection here in Bangkok. The P10 hits maximum with 5G connection. I find my 3 year old Samsung Galaxy Tab S hits consistently better speeds from further away, when compared to the P10. Hence, I use 2.4G when I am downstairs.

And also mi6 doesn't have all 3G/4G Band
Recent year Mi phones has become cheaply made and cost has increased, only their red mi has the cheap price.
I mainly want a tablet with a high-res screen (currently have a HP Touchpad!). My main worry is that the battery life on an older tablet might not hold.
Any thoughts on why I should / shouldn't get a second hand S2 or if there is an alternative in the ~ £200 area?
Ehh... it depends. If the price got that low for new units in the UK, then go for it. I have the older 2015 8 incher and it's wonderful for manga, some internet browsing and the occasional document work (spreadsheets mostly). The 2016 model has a SD 652, which is similar in performance to the older one (should be much more thermally efficient), but the most important difference is that the 2016 model has a much better custom ROM support.
There aren't many alternatives at a similar pricepoint, most of them being chinese tablets with pretty much no software support of any kind (neither official nor unofficial).
LE: somehow I glossed over the part about it being second hand. The price for new units over here isn't all that much higher here. And battery life shouldn't have been affected by too much even after a year of use, just look for any possible issues with the plastic back, as it kind of gets scratched easily (+ the screen to not be broken, that's the most expensive part).

Thanks this is helpful. The 652 9.7" model is down to 300 new but I wasn't planning to spend so much on a tablet. I'm going to watch a few ebay listings and hope I get lucky
so im thinking of buying the mi 8 SE 4gb variant to save some money, but first i have some questions.
what are the benefits of 6gb Ram variant over 4gb? i read its to keep several apps on the background running, but i don't open more than 4 apps, i think i just need one game that keeps running on the background. so.. is 4 ram more than enough for me? or does 6 ram improve something like gaming performance? i actually looking for a phone that can run the new heavy game: black desert mobile and i need it to keep running on background while i browse on youtube
second: is the snapdragon 710 can run heavy games like black desert mobile on max graphics settings without heating problems, lags, and framedrops? do you advice to max the graphics settings, does it drain lots of battery on max settings or only a bit?
and finally how big the gap between SD 710 and 845? i only need a phone that can perform very smoothly on heavy graphical games like black desert. is the SD 710 enough? is there big difference in performance? thank you for helping me decide which one to buy!
I have the same plan to purchase a Mi 8 SE but I'm worried that there will be no community for Mi 8 SE, because it used a different kind of chip.
Don't buy the 8SE. It's really nice for pricing but it will be the new Mi Note 3, bad bad support, a lot don:t care about it, because no FDD-LTE B20 (800MHz).
The 710 is good, really good, better than 820 but thats not the key. The RAM is not that fast and the ROM also not, so no UFS 2.0 or 2.1, just EMMC and this is much slower than UFS. I think for the normal user it's ok but you can not.compare 845 with UFS 2.1, it's much faster.
More RAM is better but 6GB are way too much! With my 6GB device I got 3,3GB free but like I sad, you never have too much.
If you looking for a good device, than wait a lil bit. Maybe Nokia will drop some good device but on the other way ~240€ for SP710 is more than good.
Actually, it has the same LPDDR4x RAM (I think at the same clocks too). Also, it features UFS 2.1. Performance-wise it is a fast device.
In my opinion, the 710 (6xA55+2A75) will be used in many devices in the future. I think it offers the best performance/efficiency/value ratio.
If you don't mind the lack of B20 and the slightly downgraded camera without OIS, go for it.
So ever since the whole Huawei debacle started I have been eying a new phone. I originally got my Mate 10 Pro due to it's mix of specs and affordability, and I have been quite happy with it. However the lack of a possibility for me to unlock the bootloader and subsequently root and flash the thing is proving to be quite the annoyance. Especially considering the precarious position Huawei is in regards to what can and can't be used from American companies.
So with that in mind, I am keeping my eyes open for a new phone. It doesn't have to be the latest model and if in good condition I might even consider buying used (though a used one would get a thorough bath in alcohol for peace of mind). Especially considering that I am more than happy with the current specs of my phone and would be happy with something of similar or better performance. Do you guys have any ideas on what models would be best to look at for a wide following on the forum and in terms of the ability to root and install custom roms? I have been looking at the obvious answers such as Google Pixel phones so far, and I understand that Oneplus are well liked.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
A quick summary of my current phone specs (of which a new phone has to be either equivalent or better):
- 1080x2160 resolution
- 6gb ram (4gb is probably fine though)
- 128gb storage (if the alternative has an SD card slot I will be fine with 64gb)
- Kirin 970 SOC (Geekbench score: SC:355 MC:1371)
- Decent 12MP camera (the MP is inconsequential, but an ok camera would be nice)
- 6" screen (Mainly I can't go above roughly 75mm width on the phone, and anything below 5" would be small)
