Can anyone refresh my memory on how to remove this card for travel time to home and work?
I did it on my S8 but cannot make it go away on my Note 8.
Ive turned off all travel notifications in Google Now but it wont go away.
You have to unput your home address in your settings i guess.
Unpin it in maps

I am trying to find a way to do automatic syncs and backups at scheduled times (middle of the night) for my family (we all have AT&T Tilts).
I have a desktop that I use as a home server, and I would like to store all the data and backup files there.
Is there a way to do this? The only way I can think to have anything like this would be to have something like Sprite Backup do an automatic backup and save it to the networked drive. But to connect to the network drive I will need to have WiFi on. So I will need some way to have to WiFi turn itself on every night and connect to my home network at a certain time, and disconnect after an hour or so. Is there any way to do that?
Also, assuming there is some way to get the WiFi to come on at a scheduled time, is there a way to make activesync perform a sync over WiFi at a certain time every night?
You might want to check this thread out. I've not tested the application yet, but perhaps within it there is a time that can be set for the application to activate and then start your wifi. If not you could request! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448783
Alternatively you might want to head over to the mortscript thread - I'm sure it's something they could help you knock up if it's not already there? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289197
Good luck
As title says, For first startup, can I skip selecting wifi connection for now and go forward? Wifi is disabled in office and I cant wait to check out the device until I reach home

After I rooted my N7, I didn't have wifi available at the time. After struggling trying to bypass the wifi connection screens, I just let it sit for a few minutes. When I looked back at the tablet, it either had moved on, or gave me the choice to bypass the wifi setup for now. Either way, it worked.
I had no problem setting up wifi later on when it became available again.
Tap all the corners in a clockwise motion, starting with the top-left. Give it a good solid tap or else you'll be going 'round in circles a few minutes.
One good rotation should dump you at the homescreen. I HIGHLY recommend not getting fancy with it and setting it up properly when you get a connection. If you don't connect it to your Google Account at startup, some things get funky later on. Play around then factory reset it when you get to a good wifi spot.
This is also a great time to just go ass wild with games/apps/widgets/etc just to try them out. Then factory reset and install the ones you want (no residue). I always do that with new devices (even the iPads).
Sorry mate, that stroking four corners idea didn't work. I just tricked the startup logic using a wifi router (without any internet connection), connecting to the network and just skipping the google login. Later used Bluetooth DUN to login into the google account.

This worked for me as well - thanks for the suggestion.
Smart unlock: places is not working any longer. I have GPS locations turned on, set to High accuracy, Smart unlock is turned on and is also enabled in my trusted agents, and my home address is correct. This was working a couple days ago. But then suddenly stopped. I've also done a reboot several times. Any help please.
I heard something about there being a problem with the predefined locations "home" and "work". Try setting a custom trusted place and see if that works...
my experience says GPS for the Smart Lock is a bit off.....this workaround has worked for me and others:
leave your Home location, but add another one. In my case when the Map came up, it showed me in a slightly different location. adding that and keeping Home, has me working.
my home is at 472, and usually GPS gets it correct or sometimes its 470.....Now, in Smart Lock, it shows my home as 500.
HTH....GL
Thanks guys! I added my neighbors address. Lol. It seems to work now.
youre welcome, glad its working for ya!
Hello everyone,
Until two days back, my google now was working perfectly fine with the cards refreshing on their own based on my location and the time of the day. I did not make any changes whatsoever, but now the cards are not updating. For eg, right now it is showing me cards from 4 days back. Earlier(before google launcher was updated), we could pull down to refresh and it showed the new cards. Now we cannot even manually do it. I have to turn off google now by going into the google settings app, turn on again then they come just for that day and again it doesnt update. I am connected to wifi most of the time.
Any help for the same would be highly appreciated as I rely a lot on Google now.
Thanks
Cheers
Hi all I have a Pioneer AVIC-F70DAB with a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 connected.
It seems to be working OK but I am having trouble using it to navigate to appointments in my calendar. The issue is that I'm not seeing my appointments on the home screen consistently.
Can anyone explain what the criteria are for an appointment to be displayed in the aa home screen please?
For instance, does location need to be on on the phone?
Does it need a data/network connection etc. ?
I can get appointments to display but it's usually after I have arrived, which isn't much use
Any help appreciated.
The criteria for Now stuff showing up on AA are fuzzy and undefined. Locations we don't want end up there with no way to remove them I think.
In general, AA and it's associated apps want Internet access full time.
Maps/Navigation in particular want Internet while in use. Maps outside of AA has some better offline capabilities now, but AA navigation still very much "desires" it.
Thanks Mikereidis, I think I'm being too impatient with it ?. If I turn location services on and wait a while they seem to appear. Bit of a pain if i want to get in the car and head off but at least I can get it working now ?
