What's the difference?couldn't seem to find an answer here. Both use full resolution and bump brightness up. Both have battery warnigs(but last me all day on either). Which is the better option?
If you really want to get an actual "performance mode", set to game mode. You'll be using the processor at its full capacity if necessary.

I might try that also. 3 modes seem to do the same thing.

Entertainment mode does the same thing, but with higher screen resolution. Game mode limits screen resolution to FHD. Entertainment sets screen resolution to WQHD.

Entertainment mode push up video and sound quality at full resolution. I use this mode in games and everything... with it there is a very nice difference.

So, i searched everywhere including this forum, for info about the fact that the screen brightness/contrast is WAY lower/less vivid (even at max ofc) than it was when the note was released. This change happened with some update many months ago. Is there any way to edit the maximum values? My note is rooted, if that has any value.
Is the screen dimmness even on the entire screen or is it more dim in certain areas only?

The whole screen, it's not any specific area, it's simply that the maximum brightness has been significantly lowered, i believe partly because of heat and "ghosting"/burn-in issues.

Hmm. Generally burn in induced screen dimmness occurs in certain areas of the screen only. If it's uniformly dimmed it might be due to a buggy software/firmware update, as you mentioned earlier.
Unfortunately I do not know how to get into the service settings to adjust it (if it's even possible).

I have auto brightness off, auto adjust screen tone off and brightness set to max. My screen randomly dims and then gets bright again...anyone know what's causing this?

Hmm is it this adapt display option maybe?

Same here then I went into my settings to check the brightness (settings, display, brightness) and it said brightness decreased to prevent over heating or something like that ..check it next time you notice it dimming and see if it's the same thing ..pretty annoying

power saver uses the dimming option for low consumption of battery and make sure auto adjust is off in display settings

I have everything turned off also ..I checked in my settings every time my screen dimmed and every time the same message ..it was driving me nuts for days (still is)

I've had this happened to me also.
It seems to be more frequent when I'm using Chrome ( not stock browser ). It suddenly gets dim and then may or may not eventually brighten up again, it's pretty random
Also happens when I'm on the launcher but not as frequent
- Automatic Brightness / Off
- Screen Mode / Professional Photo
- Power saving mode / Off
- Auto adjust screen tone / Off
Is there something else I may be missing?
It happens to me while using the xda app. Annoying as hell. It has the same message as Melissa

Does anyone know if this processor does thermal throttling? That could possibly trigger a power save dim with overheating. If we get root this can be disabled using trickster mod.

The Otimus G Pro had a setting in the hidden menu to disable thermal throttling.

Thought this was an issue with my phone when I got it from AT&T yesterday. Glad to know it isn't just me. It seems to only have the issue when I am in a low-lite area (at least on mine) but when I am in an area with good lighting and the back light is 75% or more it doesn't dim nearly as much. Would be interested to see what a fix would be for this.

Same for me, it does it in low light obly, with or without power saving enabled. I have the same problem on my galaxy tab 2 (7) and couldn't find a fix yet.

So I've been having this issue and noticed it like two days ago, and reading all your responses I looked through and noticed I had one of the features that I thought I turned off. Smart Stay says that it starts to turn the screen off when we look away maybe it's a buggy feature (one I never intended to use but it might be the one doing this dimming thing (being one of the first steps to turn off the screen)
there was an app called a brighter note for my note 2 to make my screen a little bit birghter than the stock adjustment. is there such a apk for the note 3 or any plans of one? Please dont start flaming over making the phone brighter. i like the screen to be a bit brighter thats just me.
no one on this? someone has to know how the old brighter note app worked and transfer it to this one
It's 2 completely different software builds. It won't work.

I use Lux Dash since I think it does a better job at controlling auto brightness, but it's a paid app. You have the ability to manually adjust how much higher than 'normal' it is, e.g. always be 5% or 10% brighter than 'normal throughout the entire ambient light range.
Don't know about brighter note app but lux has been working great for me on s3, note2 and now note3.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You people keep saying brighter this and brighter that with lux, which is not the case. Lux does not give you the option to set the brightness any higher than 100%.

If that was what he was asking, then you're right. He phrased it as wanting a bit more brightness than the normal adjustment, which sounded like auto brightness. Lux will let you ramp up throughout the ambient light range faster than stock.
OP - why not contact the original developer of that app and ask whether he can add a Note 3 version? The Note 3 screen is quite a bit brighter and easier to read outdoors IMO than the Note 2 , but I do understand a desire to have a brighter screen.
I tried to take a macro-focus picture with Z1, but it seems there is not macro mode in camera option. Any idea guys?
Change the resolution to 8mp. It won't display any mode at 20 mp.

Use superior auto mode and it automatically detects macro mode

Yes, but superior auto loses a considerable amount of detail and quality (it unnecessarily increases the iso)
for better results you can use the food options or you can deactivate the scenes, using lowest iso values and (in good light conditions) decreasing exposure level
Try using 8mp manual mode with touch focus option.. It will help..

I have stock z1 and was wondering what is the absolute best settings for manual mode and maybe auto. I know you can't change much in auto. Thanks in advanced

There is no absolute best setting because of various different scenes you could be taking. for example a good setting for a shot during the night would be poor for a good lightning portrait. auto mode tries to detect the best settings for the shot you are currently taking.
When taking a landscape you need hdr to smooth out the overly bright sky contrasting the land.
I find auto to be very good and I use it almost always. If you want to learn more Google for example " how to use DSL camera"
the cameras are different but the principle is the same and so are the adjustable settings.
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
Don't you worry about not having the full 20mp since auto is only 8?
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
I mostly use my camera on Manual mode, even in the evening and low light conditions.
I use the 15MP setting. Then, you can choose Exposure on the left side of the screen and the White Balance. When you have the right WB (you will surely chose the one that best fits YOUR eye, you can try changing the Metering settings. These are really great for many shots like portraits and Macro photos. You can search for Metering settings on the Internet. Last thing I chose is the ISO sensitivity. For brighter scenes you can decrease it, but for low light you can make it higher to catch more light.
Try out these settings in any possible way, you will upgrade your knowledge in photography, but the possibilities are endless.
All the best.
:good:
It will always depend on the scenario. But I always use 8mp 4:3 aspect ratio.
