So i bought a second hand nexus 6 and all works fine but last night i thought i should try out a different ROM and voila :
TWRP has a password set on in by the previous user. I cant reach the seller know so simple call-him-to-ask-the-password is out of question.
How do i remove this?
Edit : Resolved. RootSU's method did the trick.
You cannot set a password in twrp. It uses the password set in android by you - because its encrypted. If you haven't set one in android, do - because you'll need it to get into twrp.
Also by the way, it works with pattern lock. esch number represents a circle on the screen when you unlock
So if the grid is
123
456
789
And your pattern is capital L, your code is
1
4
789

look at the twrp thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/orig-development/recovery-twrp-2-8-2-0-touch-recovery-t2946534 and try the default_password if you have no lockscreen pin pattern or password. follow what @rootSU said if you have one of those

you can password protect twrp recovery, but you have to set it up in recovery. bootloader i dont see how a rom can protect, or a rwcovery, considering that on a nexus roms dont have anything to do with recoveries or the bootloader. are you sure it was on a nexus?
Are you talking about the unlock code to get to your homescreen? If so..... the numbers are setup like a telephone, 1-9.
123
456
789
So if your unlock code was an L, your code would be, 14789.
Hope this is what your looking for.
Sent from my Nexus 6
My phone can have a password to start up, it made me enter it twice. Onece right when starting up, then it would show a boot animation and ask for a password to start up, then it would boot up to lock screen. Idk what it was though. Maybe I'll figure it out right now
Alright, I went into settings and setup a pin password. It has the option to require pin to start up device. Maybe that's what your talking about? Its like a white and red screen that asks for a password and says encrypted on the top. BTW, I'm encrypted haha.I think I'm on 5.1
I can no longer seem to be able to install custom roms, ive tried the resurrection remix rom and the cm13 rom but both are asking for a password after it installs and reboot(like when you encrypt the phone) so i cant access anything and my google password does nothing nor have i set another password
All i can do is the three finger recovery and reflash a full stock rom which does work.
I have checked the OEM unlock in developer options as well and full wiped before installing roms.
There shouldnt be any anti theft on the phone because afaik i have disabled all the anti theft options so there should be no reason why it asks for a password.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Does anyone know if doing a full factory reset through twrp instead of through the phone could be the reason why?
Good to see someone else is also having this ****ing stupid problem. I've been struggling with a way to fix this as well. I'm on the EVA-109 with a single SIM and its been giving me this problem no matter what I do. I read through one of posts on the CM 13 thread which stated you need to use Surdu's tweaked TWRP in order to not have the password booting problem. It'd be nice to get an official response from Surdu on this as he hasn't mentioned the need to use his version of TWRP.
Although, despite trying this I'm still having the password problem at boot but it might be worth a try if you do it. I'll pass you the link - Do let me know how it goes, though I wouldn't place all my faith in this. https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/twrp-t3493979

Can't get past the initial screen. The buttons on the screen do not work along with the navigation buttons down the bottom. Slide controls seem to work but it doesn't 'click' when you slide it over like it should.
My phone model is MYA-L02, Bootloader is unlocked, FRP is disabled, System Write Protection is disabled (adb reboot disemmcwp).
Really frustrating to get this close, only to have something simple like this get in my way. I need to root this phone to remove a simlock.
Don't support scl-al00

MYA-L41, same problem.
Used both versions, both same problem.

And solved....
For those using L-41, use the version here. Once installed, when booting to TWRP, tap in the screen when TWRP welcome screen appears.

I found this post on someone's blog which details the process for finding the xml file that controls the simlock:
https://blog.onedefence.com/unlock-telstras-huawei-y5-y560/
My theory is that if you root the Y6, install SuperSU and get access to adb shell, you can find the simlock file, edit it and push it back to the device and it will be unlocked without having to spend any money. Otherwise for me it's $30-50 AUD depending on who unlocks it.

I have the exact same problem (also on a L41). Though tapping on screen doesn't help anything.
I cannot bring it to swipe (the swipe bar moves, but does nothing else), and the buttons are pressable, but once selected "hang".
Could it be, that I have a newer firmware version? I have the B140.
What version do you have?
Tap in the screen several times, as it was the last resource you have to save the pretty girl.....
Run for me...
Regards

I originally tapped about 5-10 times.
Now I tapped on the screen like there was no tomorrow until TWRP boots, and I saved the pretty girl!
Thank you very much.
This behavior is quite interesting though. Why does this work?
Is this twrp compatible with Huawei y6 2018?

"Unofficial Twrp for Huawei Y6 2017"
Sound like its for 2018?
Not really.
Y6 2018 has different specs and stuff and the recovery of Y6 2017 will not be compatible in any way. Next time read the thread properly.
I will give a try porting Twrp to Y6 2018, even if I don't have the device.

Hey guys I flashed this recovery and I cannot find any roms to flash or anything at all.
However I seen a few of you are stuck at the swipe area. When TWRP is booting keep tapping the screen before it starts and you can swipe to continue.
Also if anyone wants the stock recovery so they can relock their device. I will post a link for you, I have flashed it and can confirm it puts it back to stock recovery. I am a long time XDA user and used to be developer I would not lie to you.
Link: https://mega.nz/#!kQN23ABL!_KOSEO_yQCPEYqPwugtUgmPSe8noPSXXvr7Sml2s7gY
Edit: 1. I am testing out a going back to stock method with this recovery file if It works I will post and update here so everyone can see how to restore back to stock without needing a pc with software.
Edit: 2. Yes it works, so what you do is you find the firmware you need from firmware finder.
First you must flash the stock recovery file from fastboot into your phone for this to even work. Rename the img file to whatever you like example stock.img. Then open up command prompt where your fastboot files are and type.
PHP:
fastboot flash recovery stock.img
This should work for any Huawei Y6 2017.
Download huawei firmware finder on phone or pc. Links below.
From here https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146
or the playstore. Find the full OTA version of the software you need for your device model. Mines is the Maya-L41 So I downloaded the latest firmware for it which is the Maya-L41C432B141 full ota update.
Open the zip you downloaded on your phone or pc and extract the Update.app file. Get an SD card and make a folder in the SD card called dload and put the Update.app file into it. Then open up your phones dialer and type *#*#2846579#*#* you will see a new menu. go to upgrade and click upgrade and let the phone do it's thing.
After it is done you should have a fully stock rom.
Remember to only force flash the right firmware for your phone I am not responsible for you flashing the wrong firmware. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
alguien ya probó con el l13?
Hey,
I was running Android P Beta, and had an OTA update today.
As it's been said on the beta topic, it apparently put me back on Oreo (the pattern lock is different on P).
But now I can't unlock the phone with the pattern at boot. When I put it the right pattern, it gives me a black screen, and ask me to unlock again.
So nothing's coming up, no wifi, no backup etc.
Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this **** ?
Thanks guys.

Thanks for your answer.
I know I could do that, but I'd like to be able to get some data back first (like whatsapp messages).
Whichi is why I'm trying to find a workaround, but so far it's not really a success.
have you tried android unlock my phone method?
Go to google and sign in. Then go to find/locate my device and then check the option unlock my phone. It will help surely.

i think that OTA update on Android P is in real "Android 0 8.1 June Update", as mentioned here, if this true that's the reason why you have problems
