to me also happens the same, and I do not know what to do

Yeah if you reboot OxygenOS without rooting, it will replace TWRP with the stock recovery, so don't let it reboot. If you get stuck, instead of just holding power for hard reboot, hold Power & Volume Down buttons together. This will make it reboot into TWRP/recovery instead of booting normally. Then, you should be able to try flashing SuperSu again.
For me I updated to OOS beta 16 using the modified TWRP found here from @akhilnarang .
Then I flshedSuperSu and SuHide from this post.
The first time I tried to flash it ended up with a blank screen and the LED notification turned white... Held power and volume to reboot recovery, and tried flashing SuperSu and Suhide (one at a time because I wasn't sure if the "add more zips" could have had something to do with it freezing) and this time they worked.

EDIT 1
Procedure that worked for me
So I've managed to install it and as expected, I had to format and delete everything on my internal memory. Here is the procedure I've followed and I'm 100% sure it'll work for others too.
Stuff I did before flashing:
1. Took a complete backup of internal memory.
2. Downloaded ROM + Recovery ( I use Holy Dragon custom twrp) + magisk 18.1 zip to an external OTG drive
My Configuration before flashing:
OOS 5.0.8, Unlocked BL, Magisk and root, Custom Kernel, Custom HolyDragon recovery
Procedure I followed:
1. Boot to recovery.
2. Wipe System, Dalvik, Cache
3. "Format Internal Memory". Please note, I formatted internal memory, not just wiped. This will remove encryption for once which will help the rom boot. It won't boot on encrypted partition with unlocked bootloader on first start up.
4. Flashed ROM zip.
5. Flashed twrp image.
6. Pressed power button for as long as possible until it rebooted again.
7. Pressed volume button before it could reboot so that i can select recovery. This step is important. If you won't do it, your recovery will be replaced with stock one.
8. Flash magisk zip. 18.1
9. Reboot system. It will take 10-15 minutes as it will reencrpt the storage.
10. Profit! Enjoy your new official oos pie on OP3/T.
Some things to note:
1. On first boot, it WILL NEED either mobile data or wifi. It downloaded some update and then installed and proceeded.
2. It will ask for your previous pattern. It didn't work for me so i simply login with my previous Gmail account on 5.0.8 and login successfully.
3. You will need to install magisk manager on first boot. It will show magisk not installed. Don't panic. Simply reboot your device once and it will appear in magisk on second reboot.

I am currently at work. I will flash it once I am home. but make sure you take complete backup of your internal memory. It will mess up your internal data partition if you have unlocked bootloader. Don't take an unnecessary risk with your data.

Seems like there is no other way than to format internal memory once. I'm on stock 5.0.8 rooted and UL BL
Where I found a download link from stock recovery.
On the OnePlus page I don't found it.
After flash stock recovery I must locked bootloader
Thanks

Thank you oneplus
On the 3T build I can't get it to install magisk for God's sake. The system partition is full and it seems it installs magisk fine, but when I boot up it says it isn't installed.... Tried different versions from 17.2 to 19

I can't say for sure. I have never tested CB. But this is the latest we have and it could have some under the hood fixes. I would recommend flashing this over CB
I need some help. I was on the latest Lineage OS version, got into recovery and formatted my data. Then I flashed the OOS Pie version. Got stuck on the OOS boot animation. Then I tried flashing the last OOS Beta and the last Official OOS but both are stuck on the same OOS boot animation. I also tried locking my bootloader and then starting again but didnt work out either...

You should be stuck on the booatanimation for at least 10-15 minutes. It's re-encrypting your /data partition.

Having similar issue, but on my side Magisk is installed, apps correctly receives the root privileges, but AdAway can't install the hosts file, it says system partition is full.

Keep root after update with Magisk and no TWRP

If you already have root with Magisk, and don't have TWRP on your otherwise stock ROM, it is easy to retain root after upgrade. I have done this the past 4 updates.
1) Install the update through system updates. Don't reboot.
2) Open Magisk Manager and select "Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA)." Press Magisk Reboot button to reboot.
If for some reason you don't get the choice in Magisk to install to inactive slot the first time, then do this:
1) Install the update through system updates. Don't reboot.
2) Open Magisk Manager and install Magisk. Don't reboot
3) Open Magisk Manager again and this time select "Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA)." Press Reboot button to reboot.
don't you have to restore first the stock boot image in Magisk, before downloading/installing the OTA?
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/blob/master/docs/tutorials.md
I haven"t done the procedure yet, but I"m gonna have to update soon before Q drops, I wanna stay in Pie
Nope. I just updated to android 10 (A6013_41_191214) using the same method, so that makes 5 updates. I am really glad I found this method that is so simple since I always used to dread updating and regaining root. Now it adds about 10 seconds to the process.
I did have to use the three-step process since I had not updated Magisk in a while and it wants to be on the latest version before it allows you to install to inactive slot. Unlike previous updates, I had to re-choose Nova as the default launcher.
This helped me after I hard bricked my phone trying to root android 10. Thanks!

No problem. When I said "I used to dread updating and regaining root" it was because i had bricked my phone trying to re-root after an update, too, so I was always on edge when doing it until I found this easy method.
It works for me from 10 oos to oos10.3
I did that, I'm now stuck on Bootloader warning screen, even after rebooting :/
Phone can't boot in fastboot, PC can't detect device anymore.
Edit: Managed to boot in fastboot mode (vol +/-/power), had to use MsmDownloadTool to unbrick.
Hi can anybody give me a hint how to procede?
- I was on 8.1 Oreo with my 1043 PL2
- did select System Update --> Android 10 (V4.16B)
- in magisk I selected "Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA)." + reboot
I just got a loop of white android one screens,
every third cycle "Android Recovery" is offering a selection of "Try again" or "Factory data reset".
Did I lose unlocked Boot loader?
Would some more retries help?
If I use "factory data reset" do I keep magisk - or would it be non rooted system?
Any hint to go to an android 10 rooted device is apreciated (preferrably with my data).
I id a TWRP BU of 8.1 system before update.
Would also a switch back to other "sltot" with 8.1 be possible?
cheers
lino
EDIT (29mar21):
since no answer,
- I selected "delete Data partition"
- Phone deleted all my data I had no BU (pictures, Download folder)
- installed MagiskManager, and at least I stayed rooted.
- now I have to setup may phone from scratch :'(
EDIT2: and I did not even realise that I that I stumbled in wrong thread (I was searching for Nokia 6.1 ... anyway)
woo that was close.
ok so, sorry, reviving from the future, hello!
for some reason, I followed this on a Nord. Bootloop.
A/B partitions!
fastboot --set-active=a
Is there a update guide for Magisk using LOS 19.1? This method does not work for LOS, only for OOS. It will give you a bootloop. I have been flashing Magisk's zip file under LOS recovery, but there should be another way to update Magisk without all that hassle. Magisk's direct install will not work.

Found this today. File has a date of 11/20/19. I put in root and do manual update thru settings/update.
Magisk patched boot.img for the above 6T ROM.

I had a boatload of bugs with the OB1. I have a 6T converted. Couldnt answer or make calls, reboots, freezes, crashes, WIFI didnt work, no pic messages, etc. I just tested for a second and I could make calls and wifi works. Do not try to install the Magisk patched boot.img. It will give the problems I had with OB1. I tried.
Def works a lot better. No freezes or reboots. My phone was useless on OB1 and I didn't want to flash back to 9 and lose my data. I had to forward my calls to another phone and wait for an updated ROM. But this def fixed a lot of the problems I encountered.
Edit: Still cant flashboot boot twrp.img.(3.3.1-1) Same error as before (failed remote unknown command)
Here's a bonus: Magisk patched boot.img for this OB2. Tested and verified root and no problems. Patched myself. For 6T. Extracted the boot.img from the payload.bin and patched.

If you're rooted use the same method as always, use local update ( you don't have access to incremental update anyway as you are rooted) and BEFORE rebooting go in Magisk manager and install Magisk again but on other slot. You don't need to play with adb or fastboot.
@Striatum_bdr :
Thanks, so download the update, do local update and after juste install magisk on the other slot.

For now the right command is fastboot flash boot twrp mauronofrio.img version and then flash the installer zip through recovery.
It's a Oneplus's problem.
[EDIT 1]
After a few tries it worked! Now I try to install twrp (mauronofio version) and root the phone.
P.s. I'm trying to update (come form OB-1) I removed all magisk's modules, flashed magiks unistaller but the update with update manager keep failing...any idea?
[EDIT2]
ok, now I'm rooted and I've twrp but wifi doesn't work it's turn off automatically!
[EDIT3]
I've fix it! I've talked with mauronofrio and he said that it's due to flashing the twrp in the boot partition, so he suggested me two ways:
1. Root your device and flash the twrp installer using magisk manager
2. After the command fastboot flash boot twrp.img reboot in recovery, flash the stock boot.img flash twrp installer.zip and finally flash magisk.
I choosen the second way and it worked! Now I've OB_2, twrp, magisk and wifi connection.
Thx a lot for the links and Infos.
I have flashed it and it feels definitely smoother and I hope the random reboots are fixed.
From the changelog they should be.
Here is a small how to, how the upgrade from 10 to 10 ob2 went smooth. Also using this on every update.
1. Just use normal systen ota & let it install or Flash full OOS 10 zip via local update . (DO NOT REBOOT)
2a. Flash newest TWRP: fajita twrp 3.3.1-28.zip (or newer) by @mauronofrio via Magisk Manager (DO NOT REBOOT)
or 2b. go into magisk manager, search for a module called "twrp a/b retention script" Install it (DO NOT REBOOT)
3. Flash magisk to 2nd slot via MAgisk Manager (Magisk Manager → Tap on Install → Then select Install to Inactive Slot)
4. Reboot, wait and enjoy

I don't have this issue, but I do have the Bluetooth not working bug

Tried root with Magisk and now my phone doesn't start.

Hi all, as the title implies, I'm a newbie to all this. I tried to root my phone using an online guide on how to root xiaomi mi 9 using TWRP and Magisk. I faced some problems but eventually everything was done as the tutorial said.
Here are the exact steps I've done...
- unlocked the phone via Mi unlocking tool
- started fastboot and installed TWRP 3.3.1-0 ( I installed a version first that didn't start when I pressed both power and volume up, then installed the 331-0 version that worked)
- inside TWRP i installed Magisk 20.4
- The phone restarted but never reach the system. It hangs for sometime on android screen then restarts again and then brings me again to TWRP
I spent quiet sometimes reading online solutions but nothing worked for me...
I tried installing Magisk uninstaller.zip nothing changed. tried wiping cache. Tried installing magisk 20 and 20.3
some solutions recommended installing Magisk 19 0r 17 but they both ended up with error for me.
Please help. I'm on Android 10 with MIUI 11
Never had any problems with magisk What TWRP version have you used?
The steps are the same:
-Unlocked phone.
-TWRP.
-Flash magisk zip (you can install magisk manager, then download latest official magisk zip from it and then flash downloaded zip from TWRP).
-reboot.
Anyway you can fix your system by:
-wipe cache/dalvik.
-FORMAT data (with yes).
I don't think you need this 2 first steps for flashing fastboot ROM but it won't hurt.
-Flash official fastboot ROM in fastboot mod, using mi flash tool or included batch/bash scripts (don't lock your device if you don't want to, choose the right option when you flash, with or without "lock").
Mi 9 Fastboot V11.0.5.0.QFAMIXM Global
Mi 9 Fastboot V11.0.8.0.QFAEUXM EEA
You will loose all your data, apps and settings.

I would try flash latest fastboot ROM as i said before it will reflash almost everything And then flash magisk by installing magisk manager and download latest magisk zip through it and flash it with twrp-3.3.1-62-cepheus-mauronofrio TWRP
Sometimes first flash of TWRP don't work, just flash it ones more by fastboot flash twrp twrp-3.3.1-62-cepheus-mauronofrio.img from your pc.

Oneplus 7T bootloop for new magisk (with solution for booploop)

So, i updated magisk (version 21? EDIT: manager was set to upda te to beta, but 20.4 also bootloops :/ ). Before rebooting, also installed to inactive slot, cause.... If you can do it after a OTA update, why not doing it normally, right? Bootloop. Have to press both the power button and VOL up for it to turn off. Usually just the long press on power buttton would do the trick.
Oneplus 7T OOS 10.012 EU
SOLUTION for the bootloop:
- Installed TWRP 3.4.0.2
- Because it cannot access data partition nor transfer files via USB, i did adb push -p local-pc-file-here /tmp
- So, i installed OOS 10.0.13 from there and it booted fine, however without magisk even tough i installed it from /tmp as well right after the ROM install without reboot.
- Tried to reinstall magisk from TWRP (had to reinstall it too, as OOS deleted it), but it bootlooped again. So, i'll wait for a boot file with it.
Executing Magisk-uninstaller-20201003.zip on TWRP did NOT work, cause it couldn't mount the necessary partitions.
EDIT: I have no magisk modules, so i don't know why all of this mess :/
If magisk was already installed on the inactive slot before you patched it, the boot image gets corrupted (at least it always does on my 7T). Really shouldn't use the ota patch feature if you're not installing an ota

Gotcha! All good now. BTW, if anyone needs, there's a patched boot file on 7T's forum for 10.0.13 EU.
I have the same issue with 10.0.13 HD65AA.
First I tried to do the full update like usual with installing Magis 21 into both slots before reboot but then I got stuck on the boot animation.
Tried a lot of things until I found this thread here. Once I got into TWRP I pushed the latest ROM over to the phone and installed it and I could get back into my phone again. But once I tried to install Magisk via TWRP or boot the patched image for 10.0.13 HD65AA from XDA I get stucked in the boot animation again. So I had to once again push the ROM to the phone and install it into the second slot and once again my phone boots again.
So for whatever reason there is an issue with Magisk and both 10.0.13 HD65AA and HD65BA. So at least for me for now no root.
Thank you very much for at least getting into my phone again without losing any data. :good:
