Hi, I need a root rom with a kernel that supports "loop devices". Does this kernel update support "loop device"? Thanks in advance.
Best.
Nice, this firmware worked.
But are you not allowed to factory reset after using this? After factory reset I can't boot anymore.
GPS now working
Thanks for this Surdu. Can confirm that both the Archos stock and this ROM are compatible with GPS now (I get instant locks). I am a happy man.
BTW, is the kernal you included all the G9 to overclock? I have a 4460 and am getting quadrant score of 1781 with a max and min @ 1.2 GHz (Performance Governor).
Thanks,

thanks again for your work surdu
is it possible to activate the bootanimation? i remember that it works in earlier firmwares.

what's the best GOVERNOR for save battery duration??
Decided today to root and install SDE my new Archos g9 8gb and install this rooted rom, unfortunately as I had applied the standard 4.0.25 firmware there was an error when trying to install the SDE.
I tried returning to stock 4.0.7 but that now reports it is too old for my rom.
Looks like Ill be staying on the standard rom for some time yet lol

The problem was error 221 or 223 depending on where I was and what I was doing.. basically::
On a NON rooted Archos 8gb 101 I updated to the official 4.0.25 (which worked) and then I wanted to install SDE / Root.
I was unable to do either using the newest ( link here ) method but the OLD method ( link here ) worked, that then allowed me to install SDE and then a custom rom.
On a side note: Can anything be done to improve the audio volume? When I watch a movie I have to use earphones as the speaker volume is too low?

to solve it took Roote and install the sde of the old method (with adb), I have the install your room.

To figure out the right version of Google Play services for your Android device, go to Settings -> Apps -> Google Play services, and look at the last 3 numbers in the parentheses. You'll see something like -XYZ where:
* X defines Android version:
0 for Android <5.0
2 for Android 5.0 and 5.1 starting with Play Services v8
4 for Android 5.0 and 5.1 before Play Services v8, Android >= 6.0 after
7 for Android 5.0
8 for Android TV
* Y defines CPU architecture:
1 for armeabi
3 for armeabi-v7a
4 for arm64-v8a
7 for x86
* Z defines DPI:
0 for universal
2 for 160
4 for 240
6 for 320
8 for 480
Notes:
It seems that -7YZ builds became -4YZ with Google Play services v6.5. If you were on -7YZ before, you should now install -4YZ.
It seems that -4YZ builds got split into -2YZ for Lollipop and -4YZ for Marshmallow with Google Play services v8. If you were on -4YZ before, you should now install -2YZ in Lollipop and -4YZ in Marshmallow.
Looks like -8YZ builds are for Android TV.
Examples:
-014 for Android <5.0 armeabi CPU 240 DPI device
-438 for Android 6.0+ armeabi-v7a CPU 480 DPI device
-876 for Android TV x86 CPU 320 DPI device

i believe root. it looks like 8.1.14 adds some settings for adding your cards and when i tried to update them, it said something like a custom system was not supported. I am rooted on Stock 5.0.2 (OC3).
i was trying to install Android Pay...which required me to install 8.1.14 since Android pay will not work on 7.9. Both Android Pay and Wallet were blocked due to root on 8.1.14. so i went back to 7.9 and wallet is fine now. i do not plan to update to 8.1 or android pay until it is confirmed to be working with root.
this all also has me nervous about Samsung pay also not working. I REALLY want to use it...but i DON'T want to give up root. so i hope the talented Devs of XDA will be able to figure something out!
Crashes with Android Pay when I'm trying to add a credit card. Otherwise it installs and works great.

Same here, we've determined that it's regional issues that's causing it. Android Pay isn't available outside of the US yet.
