Crossposting from my reddit thread: Help me find the correct display
So a month ago, i broke the Display on my 3T. I visited a local Repair Shop here in Germany, and had it fixed.
After I got it back, I noticed a strange bootup but that wasn't all of it. Somehow the gestures didn't work either (painting a "V" for flashlight for example), and other nasty things happened when i had it in my pocket (music suddenly starting, flashlight suddenly turns on and drains battery for hours...)
I visited the OnePlus Forums, where someone told me to install AIDA64 to check my PanelID.
The OnePlus 3T has a Samsung s6e3fa5, whereas the OnePlus 3 has a Samsung s6e3fa3.
And - yes - AIDA64 showed, the Repair shop insalled a s6e3fa3 Panel, the panel used in the 3.
So I go back to the shop, and cool as they are they said they're sorry and will try to get me the other panel, withput questions asked.
A Week passes and I get a call, that they will get the Panel, but it's coming from china and this will take longer than expected to arrive.
Fast forward to today, the panel arrives, I visit the shop and return 2 hours later to get my Phone back.
I boot it up in the shop - and and the same strange bootup happens again.
I'm like wtf, this can't be. After bootup i try the gestures - strangely enough, some of the gestures which were not working with the first replacement now worked - but not all (skip songs, and the Flashlight was very unreliable [I found out that the unreliability was caused by another problem, see Edit of post] ).
So I checked AIDA64 again - still this Samsung s6e3fa3.
The guys at the shop were very sorry, saw my frustration and the problems.
They will try to get it again, but the thing is - every seller of replacement parts sells a "OnePlus 3 / 3T" display, as they're basically the same - but not quite.
I cant find a seller who offers panels with a explicit panel ID (Samsung s6e3fa5), nobody lists the panels like that.
So could anyone help me out? Maybe someone who works in repair, or knows someone who does.

Okay okay okay, i got some veeery strange issues now with the gestures....
First of all, I only can do these 3:
"V"- flashlight
"O"- camera
dubbletap to wake.
But the strangest thing is: I can't do the same gesture two times in a row.
Like, If I do a "V" for flashlight, i cant do the "V" again to turn it off.
But if i do any other gesture in between - like dubble tap to wake - i can do the "V" again to turn it off afterwards.
This is the same with the other gestures - i can't do dubble tap to wake again if i didn't use another gesture ("V" or "O") in between
Could this be a firmware thing?

yes,I completely reset my phone and reinstalled everything - first the stable oxygenOS 4.5, and now running the open beta 15 again.
Both give the same issue.

Hi there
About a week ago I received the notification that there's an update available for my moto x. I charged it to the max and then ran the update. However, it seems like it didn't update properly because there are several annoying things happening with my phone ever since.
- Ambient display not deactivate-able - it'll keep showing up.
- no gestures working except for "twist for Quick Capture"
- moto x display function is not working properly (no message-preview on the standby-screen when holding a finger onto the message icon - just black & yes, the option is activated)
- phone gets unusually warm frequently
- phone doesn't run smoothly anymore
- phone feels as if I had a fake "lollipop-like launcher" running on top of a kitkat phone which causes all these things.
I contacted motorola support which was unable to help me beyond the help for imbeciles (have you tried activating the moto display option/waiving option, factory-reset, etc), they reached out to me via twitter after a complaint on it and I shot this video for them, showing how dysfunctional my phone is.: **edit** new user here, cannot link to the vid
Initially, the moto support did not even watch the video - lol.
The factory reset via the phone's settings did work - it deleted everything (data, pics, etc) but it did not solve any of the mentioned problems above. In fact, it feels even worse. Now I am kind of at my wits' end.

I am afraid I will have to flash a rom manually but am afraid to F it up and brick my beloved moto :S which is why I am reaching out to you guys here at XDA. Thank you for reading this post and taking your time to help.

Are there more gestures?
Flick to Capture and
flick to switch between front and back cameras (from 5.1)
are the 2 gestures i know....
for Notifications in Display
check whether "Hide Notification Details" remains unchecked.
Ambient Display I havent tried...
No idea about other issues...

i am not sure but i think its because you are in factory mode. power down your phone. and select normal power up. Hope it helps

Okay so I wanted feedback regarding this whether someone else is experiencing this or not.
I have gradually observed during the last few days that a lot of my touches to click have gone unresponsive in Nougat. Initially it was something that I hadnt quite noticed but slowly the trend became obvious. Now dont get me wrong, this would happen a few times here and there with lollipop and MM as well, but the rate is far higher now on Nougat. Especially when typing on the keyboard this means mis-spelled words, missed letters, and accuracy is far worse now.
Has anyone else observed this or is it just me?
Just got my xcover 4 with nougat installed i have the same issue.
The sensitivity is low and i need to press a bit higher finger force to respond.
Even with sensitivity (glove mode) set to on things get worse.
I'm seeing the same thing. What is strange is that I'll see the button highlight/depress, but no action occurs. This is on multiple apps.
On what device/OS?

I contacted samsung Greece about the existing problem.
I reported the problems me and you guys have and the tech support told me that your problems exist because you did not factory reset the devices before upgrading to nougat.
Anyone tried to contact samsung about the problem?
They dont know anything about it.

When I run the the touch screen test, touch screen responds well, but when I want to write a message or to scroll the home screen Its very annoying. It looks like software problem.

I have 2nd piece of Xcover 4 SM-G390F (first was change by seller for new one) and had the same problem. First 2-3 days all work perfect.. I have installed my applications, work perfect for two days, but after this... --After wake, display react only in centre area, 1 centimeter from display border no reaction or react on xxx touch. After few seconds (20-30) display react on full range, but with lags... So... I go for support to Samsung official at CZE.
Support tells me, that they don't know about this problem, that I'm 1st who has this problem... And some other bull... about unofficial sell and any other. So I post them IMEI and they let me know, if my distribution is official or not, and we'll see what next. They recomend me to go to service center, where somebody looks on my SM. So I see tomorrow.
ROM - official Android 7 Nougat from start using (not updated from other version)
Deleting apps - no effect
Safe mode - no effect
Factory reset - no effect
Apps to calibrate screen - no effect
All of a sudden the lower part of display (about 7 mm) has become unresponsive to touch which means no more gestures (swipe up to get to home screen is not working) e struggle to use the classic navigation buttons.
Sadly I had the same issue in my mi5 but in that case phone had the issue since the unboxing.
I'm starting thinking the xiaomi touchscreen tend to be more fragile than others.
Now I'm waiting for gearbest support.
Anyone has any advice or similar experience?

Regarding Xiaomi Quality
While climbing into my truck, I dropped my Mi8 from a height of about 4 ft on accident and it landed flat on its face , on the concrete. Freaked out, I left it laying their for about a minute fearing that the screen had been smashed into a million pieces. However, I picked it up to see that it was fine, and not a single scratch. So I immediately went out and bought the Love Mei 360 case.
Anyway, regarding your touch issue, you should really provide more some information about how this issue came about, what rom were you using, did the phone get wet, etc.
Also, I had an issue with my Mi8 soon after unlocking the bootloader where the top part of the screen would not register my touches, I first tried recalibrating the screen using Miui hidden settings app, the test is called QMMI ( I think) and if I remember correctly there are several menus of testing that also calibrate the screen for me this worked and for good measure I reinstalled a Miui rom and havent had the issue since.
Try it, hopefully that is the only issue. If you are using a AOSP. It's possible that you have a driver issue. So before sending the phone off for service its worth testing.. If you are on stock and still have a locked bootloader, I would try resetting the phone before trying anything else.

Hi I bought a Xiaomi Mi9 not even a month ago.
These days I found a really annoying problem, my Mi9 unlocks itself in my pocket. I state that I have done all the possible tests, that is with and without double tap, with and without unlocking via mi band4, with and without lifting option, password, fingerprint and face detection. Trying various combos (thinking that maybe some of them would conflict with each other) I arrive at the same conclusion. Start the emergency keypad on your own, or if I receive notifications it even opens me up or I find myself navigating through my apps.
This is the main problem.
I have found other problem, like if I talk at the phone, I put the auricle in the right ear, everything is ok, while if I move it in the left ear I no longer feel anything. (proximity sensor
defective ultrasonic?)
Another problem that perhaps seems to have solved was that of bluetooth devices, the saved devices menu was missing. With a reset I fixed the problem at the time.
The fingerprint detector every 10 attempts, 3-4 never go through if the screen is in total standby, while if you wake up the screen in any way and then use the fingerprint it always works.
The most important thing I would like to solve is that of unlocking in my pocket, it particularly bothers me. I read that in June they had to fix this option, optimize it, but apparently it doesn't seem improved. I know that here the pocket mode is automatically inserted compared to other devices. But apparently it doesn't work at all.
I have the device correctly updated.
Help me discover something more or at least solve this problem and sorry for my bad english i'm italian boy =P

Which firmware, rooted or unrooted?
I can recommend to root and use firmware of xiaomi.eu
If you have the latest firmware with pocket mode included your only two options to fix the pocket unlocking’s are: 1. Get at flip cover. 2. Delete all fingerprints and use another unlock option like face recognition or so. This will also get you noticeably better battery hours.
The speaker problem I think is a problem with the position. It is very critical that you put the tiny speaker hole exactly in front of your ear opening, a couple of millimetres aside will make the sound almost silent. This is if you by feel mean hear. Try to hold the phone at an angle out from you face with the upper part pointing to your ear and move the phone up and down to se if you can hear better.

Let me suggest a fix for the fingerprint issue.
Turn off the show "fingerprint on lockscreen option"
There really isn't a pocket mode for the mi9 because of the in-display fingerprint reader
About the "unlocking in your pocket" issue, I think you should try a different unlocked method, maybe a password to see if it's still there, and also ensure you don't have "On body detection" enabled in settings.

No, I bought it from an official seller of Xiaomi Hellas (Greece)
Hi everyone,
Almost all sensors stoped working after few days on my brand new Pixel 5 :
Failing sensors :
- Proximity sensor
- Accelerometer
- Gyroscope
- Compas
And maybe others I don't know of...
Fingerprint & cameras are still working.
I've contacted Google support, and they advise me to clean my screen :-/
I'll try a factory reset today before asking for a replacement unit, but my hope is low...
Anyone facing the same issue ?
Any advise ?

After a factory reset : same situation
Same here. Had phone for about ten days. All seemed to work. Then thinks went weird over several days. First thing I noticed when going to hang up a call I was no longer presented with phone dialler screen. During calls phone was also spontaneously switching to handsfree. I suspect this was wall tilt related. Then camera images were in incorrect orientation. Google photos not longer rotating images and so on. Installed a sensor app and it reported gyroscope as missing. Clean booted - no change. Factory Reset and still no change. Arranged for an exchange with Google. While waiting for that to pan out, after about a day the gyroscope has come back to life. Although presently reporting no compass. Doe the P5 have a compass?
Anyhow given it working again now I am wondering if some power saving activity is killing the Gyroscope? Waht was the out come with your sensor failure. Did they recover or did you need to exchange?

I tried a random app from the store : Sensor Test with my bad unit and it reported 0 sensor !
I've exchanged my P5 and now the same app reports 30 sensors.
While waiting for the exchange , mine never came back to life : can't rotate, screen stayed on during calls (and auto brightness not working), compass was not working in Maps...
Also on the faulty unit I noticed that the OTA update tooks ages (30 minutes or so, for a ~30MB update). On the new unit, the same uptate took just a normal reboot time.

While mine has a working gyroscope (at the moment) the proximity sensor is still borked and the screen stays on during calls. I just installed the Sensor Test app and it says I have 16 sensors!

Oh my god yes exactly this happened to my phone since yesterday. No auto rotation, no auto brightness, no tap2wake.
I have to send mine back, I hate it. Sensor app does not recognize a single sensor. Factory reset didn't help either
When rebooting like 10 times it changes between 0, 1 and 16 sensors.
I factory reset my phone again and that made it worse. Has gone from 16 to 0 on Sensors Test!
Has lost screen rotation again.

At this point, you should contact Google Support and ask for an exchange.
Like my old one, I doubt this is a software issue...
I hope my new one does not have this flaw.... but this definitely hurt my confidence in P5 devices....
Sounds like issue with corrupt persist partition caused by update gone wrong.

Indeed ! I didn't know about this.
But it seems that the solution is to root the device, and this void the warranty (Google asked me if it was rooted before the exchange).
Weird. It did not happen to mine right after an update, more like 20 days later. Btw Google did not ask me if I rooted the device, which I haven't, but I did unlock the Bootloader for a short period of time to use the android flash tool from Google.
I'm not very familiar with partitions on android but all I can say is that a newly flashed stock firmware from Google itself did not help me
All my sensors work according to that app - it shows 30 sensors every time I launch it - except the proximity sensor sometimes does not actually work right. I was noticing an issue because KinScreen would think my proximity sensor was covered and would turn the screen off because the proximity sensor looked to be covered when it was not, even though the app should have kept the screen on. I downloaded multiple sensor testing apps and the proximity sensor works most of the time but sometimes it does not. Weird. Not sure if I should exchange the phone, I got this with AT&T.

Took a couple of weeks, but I now have a replacement unit. 30 sensors showing and all working properly now. I took it for granted how reliant these devices are on having sensors working for basic things like the phone to work properly. Glad I found this thread and was able to get it sorted out. thanks for the help.
I had to get a replacement PIxel 5 through AT&T for the broken proximity sensor. This one works fine.

Just out of curiosity, am I the only one Google asked if I have rooted my device before sending it back ?
They asked me 5 questions for the warranty (I live in France/EU btw):
- Has the device been impacted, or is the screen damaged?
- Has the device come into contact with liquid?
- Has the device been in contact with a heat source?
- Has the device been rooted?
- Has the device been repaired by unauthorized personnel?

I started an RMA process on their website and no I'm not 100% sure about the other stuff but I'm sure they didn't ask if I was rooted.

I see where Google announced that a fix in the December update could possibly fix the sensor issue for some. I'm guessing you guys got the update and it didn't work huh.
