Hi everyone.
my lcd display has cracked today ( ), before i make an order of a new display i wan't to know if i can replase the lcd type (mine is samsung version) with the AMOLED display.
please help me.
Thanks.
Samsung is the one who made AMOLED. They started running low on supplies because of their Galaxy phones and so the N1 switched to the SLCD.
And one is not compatible with the other. If you cracked an SLCD screen, you need to replace it with an SLCD screen.
Google has a few ways to determine what type of screen you have if you are still unsure.
Have an 8xt with a cracked screen after a tumble. Everything else seems to work fine. Is it possible to use the higher resolution, but same dimensions 8x screen ($19.99) on Ebay with this?
And, since the resolution is higher 1280x720 vs 800x480, will it show at the higher rez or the lower rez or not at all? It would seem to certainly depend on the video driver... and perhaps the lesser memory 16gb (8x) vs. 8gb (8xt) may be a limiting factor?
Anyone with some definitive information? Thanks.
If the "screen" is just the glass, there's no problem. If it includes the digitizer, then that depends on whether the two phones use the same touch resolution (probable, but not guaranteed). If it also includes the LCD or AMOLED, then the phone will probably reject the higher-resolution panel because the driver won't match, although it's possible it's the same driver and just adapts to whatever resolution it sees. In that case, the question will be one of whether the OS (which stores information about the resolution at various points in the registry) will adapt or not. If not, you'll either get a letterboxed (or cornered) display, or it will be logical 800x480 but stretched to fit the larger number of actual pixels.
Thanks for the excellent reply. After thinking about it and looking more, I'd say it is just the glass covering and not the digitizer.
All functions, pushes, on the screen seem to work normally.

I'm sorry to reopen this, but did you attempt this repair? If so, how well did it work? Thanks.
I need help finding a screen replacement for my TF701. It got dropped this weekend and the screen cracked. Not the LCD part (no bleeding of colors or loss of functionality) so I guess it's just the "digitizer" right? Can anyone help me in finding replacement screen that will fit this? All I seem to be finding are for the TF300 and TF100 series. Is there any cross compatibility?
Also, any guides on how to replace would be helpful as well.
Anybody know if the lcd screens are interchangable. mine died and am wondering if id be able to put a z3 screen as it has better viewing angles.
No you can't, z3 screen is bigger and some other hardware/software stuff like compatibility etc..

Hello, i wanna change my LCD, I looked up in some online stores and always find LCD with Frame and LCD with no Frame, What's the difference between those two?
I just wanna say U may call it display instead
Its a oled not lcd
Get it with the frame
Get it with the frame. Don't buy only screen otherwise you'll have to do extra work like fixing and gumming the screen to the frame. Go for original amoled screen.
