Hi,
I am a little bit suprised that nobody here is complaining about that after the latest OOS update they officially removed the proximity wake (wave hand over phone to see watch and notifications in lock screen) function. They also removed it for OP5.
This was a very useful feature and in the official Oneplus forum they are just saying that the removement is not a bug but a feature
So maybe they will change their minds when a lot of people start complaining about it.
So write them: https://oneplus.net/de/support
What about you guys?
Cheers
It was removed when OxygenOS got updated to Nougat base.
Whatever, but you are right.
Nevertheless it is a very bad decission that they removed that feature. So everybody should tell the support.

This is not what the thread is about, not a solution neither.

Unlike other OEMs out there that use the in-display fingerprint scanner to just unlock the device, OnePlus actually gives you the ability to quickly launch other apps as well. That's just frigging amazing and I absolutely love it. You can check the full tutorial here - https://themrphone.com/article/oneplus-6t-quick-launch-apps-screen-unlock
Kind of a bummer that you still need to wake the display in the first place to actually use the in-display fingerprint scanner, but still, this is good nonetheless.
Nice, thanks for info.
Yes, completely agree that having to wake the display in the first place to actually use the in-display fingerprint scanner is a bit of a step back. Fingers crossed for a Magisk module!
tmobile version doesn't have this yet. just so everyone knows.

I think I'll be using the "touch to wake" option

The screen has to be woken in order to light your finger. UD readers use a camera behind the OLED panel to take a picture of your fingerprint, and the panel is what actually lights your finger for that shot. The only compromise I could see would be something to keep the rest of the screen dim/blank and only activate the fingerprint area, but it'll still require you to wake the screen.

Yeah, aod is probably something that can do the job at the lowest acceptable lighting requirement to read the FP.
My "Settings" app carashes when I try to enter on that menu (quick launch)... What should I do?

When you touch the fingerprint reader area the pixels behind it light up to 100% brightness in order to illuminate your finger.
The "tap to wake" feature already available pretty much solves this "problem". You simply press your finger onto the "off" display in the place where the fingerprint reader is located (easy to do after some practice) and the display turns on, fignerprint scanner illuminates and reads your finger which then unlocks the phone.

I do hope they tweak how bright the screen has to be, but from all I've read, those pixels have to be at full blast to get an accurate read on the fingerprint., so they probably need to at the very least need to regionally brighten that area of the screen fully on the ambient screen. Someone out there more clever than I will surely figure it out in a way that doesn't compromise security. Hoping it's OnePlus, but we've got an incredible community that can take a swing at it too!
Mine do not have any such feature..
Though the feature is cool I am not happy with the experience. It's not smooth, it shows pattern input screen for a while before showing quick launch menu.
Also the home screen/last app screen before the quick launch and the vibrations (too intense) are also bummer
What version of OxygenOS are you on? I'm on 9.0.3 and I don't seem to have the Quick Launch option?!

Hello mate!
I've already solved this by enabling the apps that I disabled before (like Google Pay, Google Music/Video and a few others). Then, once the quick launch worked, I disabled again those apps. :good:
still waiting for 9.0.4 to have this

by default, the quick launch is set to open a few google apps preinstalled on the device.
If you disabled/removed some of them, but didn't remove them on the quick launch list before that, then it's going to crash every time you open the quick launch setting.
Enable every default app and try again, if it still doesn't work then factory reset and next time remember to remove all apps in this setting before disabling them.

That's why I keep going back to the intl firmware. Quick launch and OnePlus lab. Phone feels much more premium and snappy with intl
Device info: Honor Play, Model (Indian): COR-AL00
As you'll know EMUI 9 is globally rolling out, I have received the Pie update on Jan 10th which is sized about 4.04 GB. Again on Jan 18th I received another update which is an Android Security Patch dated December 1, 2018. It is sized about 240 MB.
See the screen shots below.
Whats new in the update:
> Nothing much. I felt not much of any difference in my daily usage after the update except the ones mentioned above. Digital Balance feature is good to keep yourself away from mobile if used properly. Or you can lose the Balance and abuse it anyway. Its your choice after all.
> Battery performance is same again. Its good like before.
> EMUI interface has some minor changes like revamped Call Screen, Recent Apps, HiTouch for Shopping, etc.
> Gestures are same as previous ones. Still senseless.
swipe from left/right edges for back (****ty gesture)
swipe up from bottom center to home
swipe up from bottom right/left for Assistant
> Suggestion here: disable the Assistant gesture in the Settings for better multitasking.
Bugs:
> I have one. It may not be present for others I suppose. After rebooting device goes to zzzVIBRATIONzzz mode on its own. I have to manually turn off vibration mode every f time.
> EMUI is just a mimic of iOS like all Chinese mobiles do. But transitions are not as smooth as iOS. Sometimes UI transitions jitters just like that. Of course Android mobiles can never make it up to Apple's iOS when it comes to interface design.
> Apps got killed in the background. May be due to aggressive memory management. Keep your favorite apps padlocked in the Recents screen to prevent this from happening. I hate Recents screen personally. Its like going back to old iPhone interface.
You should know that:
> Third-party launchers (Nova too) won't work properly from EMUI 9 as Huawei announced officially.
> Widevine level is L3. Some may want to know this.
> Themes are limited as of now as EMUI 9 is new to the market.
> Its a worthy upgrade for me. No going back.
I highly doubt whether Honor Play will have any Custom ROMs developed in the future as we'll know bootloader cannot be unlocked. XDA page for this device is useful only for information & news sharing I think. Or correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.
Let me know if you have any queries regarding update...
:good:
Best way to avoid aggressive memory management is to change display to 720p!
As mentioned by another user on here ?
I don't notice any loss of quality of screen, working fine for me!
Europe just got 9.0.0.161 with January security patch

Go to Settings>Battery>App Launch. Uncheck those apps you want to keep running in background i.e. manage manually. That's the solution.
If accessibility permission of 3rd party apps are being revoked automatically and you are annoyed of turning it on repeatedly, it's the solution.

How can I activate vibration intensity on this phone? If I go to settings > sounds and vibration, the option is not there!

Really? Why is that? It's such a basic function...
Really SAMSUNG?? Just bought that phone - attempt to rehome from Xiaomi and this is the first thing I find.. but there is more. Xiaomi offers more granular android configuration out of the box - battery icons, performance and battery settings/optimization, resolution change (dpi).. when I opened settings on this phone I was quite shocked how limited it is..
Just to confirm - bottom line is Samsung knows about this limitation and has no interest to provide phone with proper interface since it is from mid-range family??
In the leaked videos, the user was able to show the homescreen with icons on the rear display. Was that any early MIUI version option only?
In the current firmware, it's not possible... Laybe later?
Anyway, I don't see myself using an app on it, it's really small for that, + it'd require UI changes from the devs...

I would like to use it to answer with speaker or decline calls. Also use it for quick responses to text.
I have noticed I can skip songs on the Spotify playlist when it's playing by accidentally touching the rear display
( I haven't found anything useful to do with it yet tbh and I hope they improve the functionality of it )
Ohh nice! As of now it's pretty early, I'm sure they'll add those little things during updates

I haven't found any way to enable that home screen in rear panel but I haven't been trying either tbh
I don't think I'm getting the red notification light on the rear display either like it shows in the Xiaomi presentation vids but maybe I just need to enable it somehow
I usually don't set my phone's with the screen facing downwards on tables anyway so it's got limited usefulness to me anyway whether it works or not

The latest update to the 'Rear Display' app breaks the red notification indicator as far as I can tell.
But to enable it/change appearance
go to settings>special features>rear display.

I'm on the EU 12.5.3 and I like it but I think I have no red light flashing on the back screen for notifications although it is enabled in the settings...
One of the issues is the rear screen can only stay on for 30 seconds max which maybe why people think the notification is not working properly ( because you would have to double tap to see it even if it is working properly)
And who likes to set their phone face down anyway? These screens are fragile and very expensive !
Honestly think they just had a screenshot of their home screen and made it the image I never actually seen anyone able to use the mini screen
Yeah they haven't ironed the kinks out pertaining to the rear display.
Out of the box, I had the red led indicator show up although it would be there even when I had no notifications.
I like it as a novelty feature but they really need to address the functionality bit.
Hi ya'll,
I'm coming from Miui 12.0.5 Global on a RN8PRO and I have to say this OS is a downgrade but the phone itself is an upgrade. If anyone knows how to fix this or if they get an update which changes this before I do, please let me know.
Issues they changed, which wiegh highly on how it functions:
Silent/DND: I can only setup one schedule which sucks cause I like to have my phone turn on at a different time on the weekends
Individual App Notification Sounds: I was able to go into App Info > Notifications > Sound and change what sound file it plays but apparently not all apps are capable of doing this and I checked to see if the app is the same version, and they are on the RN8PRO vs RN10PRO
Likes:
Smart devices on the pull down menu
Better auto brightness on the RN10PRO but might be due to the AMOLED vs the IPS screen
Integration of the Google Page if you swipe to the right of the home screeen
Fingerprint scanner on the power button vs the back on the RN8PRO
I'll continue to update as I use more and figured it out...
I've noticed that 12.5.3 is out... anyone receive it yet?

nothing improvement, gallery bug and some bugs, wroste update
Miui 12.5.4 arrived yesterday on my Redmi Note 10 Pro (global).
So far pretty good, but I've noticed a couple of bugs.
The wallpaper zooms in for some reason and there's no way to fix it. I ended creating a larger wallpaper with a blank border to avoid it. It may be related to brightness adjustments.
If you disable one of the SIM cards, it still show up in the status bar (before the update, it didn't).

this bugged update . music player notification problem . long delays in browsing through storage . messaging apps like telegram notifications not showing message notifications . mxplayer crashing while playing video . zip and rar files not extracting in file explorer(default one) . and much more problems . notifications are nice though .
After updating to 12.5.4 it just became worse the whole system as a whole... I unlocked the bootloader and went back to 12.0.15 which is much less laggy and works great for my needs.
Hello on 12.5.3, i can't change wallpaper on launcher and lock screen. I Can chose, but itis appears black. Someone have this problème ?
