Activities in vehicle - Tasker Tips & Tricks

I made profil with Autolocation.
Autolocation activities in vehicle: true.
And as task sound alert and connect with Bluetooth in car.
But this profile not work. GPS is on.
What I need to do to start this profile when I'm in car and driving ?

How is the phone placed in the car? I'm pretty sure it should be placed so it recognizes the vibrations from driving.
Have you ever manually turned on/off the activity mode?
Look at the log and see if anything is there.
If I've misunderstood and your using geofences, your wifi needs to be on.

My phone is in car holder on the front car window.
I have no manually turned on/off the activity mode. How should I do this?
Where is the log ?
I'm not using geofences.

How do we keep the screen bright during GPS guidance..?

I'm using iGuidance 4; works great but the screen dims after 30sec or so.
when I'm driving and it's bright it makes it difficult to see the map.
Any settings to keep the screen bright.
On my N95, while navigating the screen remained on.
Thanks
On the 8125, my solution for this was to plug it in. The brightness and auto off can be set seperately for when it is plugged in. Not a great answer though. My old iPaq (and that's way before the iPhone), they had a nice profile feature where could could set up home/car/work profiles and do things like set wireless connections, volume/vibrate, screen brightness, etc. So then you had a quick way to make multiple adjustments. This would still be a very usefull app if any of the developer here would like to take a crack at it.
In theory, it seems like it would be a pretty easy thing to do and could be assgned as one of the new home screen icons so it would be very handy to get to.
This is a failing of iGuidance because TomTom keeps the backlight on and stops the unit from going to sleep as well.
I made a very compact vent clip holder for my Kaiser, use a BT headset (and often use "BTAudio.exe" to direct all sounds to headset while navigating), and use a charge cord while navigating in the car. I use a prog from my HP, "Today Panel Pro" to have a up front key to tap to get to disp settings. I set the display to stay on with external power when driving during the day. At night I don't set it to stay on because the Kaiser's display just dims after the timeout, it doesn't turn off. I actually like this at night.
In any case, iGuidance won't let the Kaiser turn off while navigating, it just doesn't control the brightness which I'm OK with.
So where can I find "BTAudio.exe" and does it direct all sounds thru bluetooth?
Cheers.

Here's the files, I use BTaudio toggle, mapped to a key. Yes, when toggled all sounds come thru bluetooth. If a call should come in while mapping, you can answer, when done the map resumes. It works well!

turn on/off bluetooth with incoming calls

anybody know of any freeware to do this? I searched around a little but no luck.
Huh. Can you expand on this a little please. So I know what Im looking for?
I think he means he wants bluetooth to be turned on automatically with incoming calls so he can use his headset, and afterwards for it to go back off to save battery.
Sounds like it would be useful, I'm interested too... if anybody knows...
I use a H300 motorola BTooth device as hands free. Since I don't want it to continuously transmit when I'm having it on my ear, I keep it switched off. When the phone rings I push the button to power it on and automatically as it powers on, it answers the call. When I finish I just push the button to power it off.
By that I mean that you can actually power on and off the BT everytime you receive a call. It doesn't have to be automatically powered on and off by itself.
Probably more than you want but phoneAlarm http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html does what you want. My experience though is that it takes too long for Bluetooth to turn on. Not too long that you miss the call but a good few extra rings.

Can't turn off Driving mode if bluetooth keyboard connected

Edit: Ignore this post
Solution: Read it to me app was set to auto-on on bluetooth.
Problem has been fixed.
Solution left for reference.

Hello, all
I have an odd question
I have noticed that when I turn my bluetooth keyboard or mouse on (Logitech android keyboard, and android keyboard mouse) on my GTN7000 running stock ICS, the phone begins reading my texts aloud to me, even on silent.
But when I turn these devices off (BOTH of them, either being on will still trigger the problem), the problem goes away
This is a huge problem since this makes the phone worthless unless on airplane mode (which isn't bad but means I can't look things up on the web etc) while taking class notes, which is why I bought the keyboard in the first place.
This has been driving me nuts for the past four hours
This occurs even if I have disabled notifications in the status bar.
I have disabled text to speech
I have disabled call notifications
I have cleared all defaults for voice search
I have tried turning down all volumes.
I HAVE noticed that when I set the voice engine to something else (eg google voice engine to samsung vlingo) the voice engine changes.
I have also noticed when using driving mode on, I get two voices announcing the same thing at the same time.
please help!

toggle 'mute connected phone'

scenario :
- during the day, I want 'mute connected phone' active
- at night, I want my phone to ring, as I usually remove my watch at home ..
is there a way to do this automatically .. been trying to find it using tasker, no go ..
You could use any scheduling app, such as Trigger. To have the phone sound profile set to Priority/Mute during daytime hours and ring at night.
hmm .. that's not my idea .. but It does gave me another idea .. thanks ..
I use something similar to Trigger, but the "mute connected phone" option in Android Wear overrides any profile settings. I have to disconnect my watch when I get home as this is the only solution I can find.
I keep my phone on my desk at work and pre-L I used a profile manager to mute my phone; but keep my watch vibrating. With L as soon as I mute my phone the watch also mutes.
solved with Tasker
I solved this with tasker :
made several profile :
- home, night -> medium volume
- day, watch connected (bt connected)-> silent
- day, no watch connected (bt not connected)-> loud
and on the android wear apps, I don't enable mute phone while watch connected option, so all volume control is in Tasker

Bixby routines - opinions?

I'm finding Bixby routines to be a real treat. I have several set up already.
When I get to work, it turns on airplane mode, activates wifi and bluetooth, connects to my speaker, sets volume to a low level, opens my play music and starts playing.
Listening to headphones - it turns off bluetooth, sets the volume to a certain level and starts playing Samsung music.
YouTube and Google maps - automatically rotate.
I have several others too. Pretty amazing in my opinion.
Agreed. They are a treat that they have that, but i still feel tasker is a bit more advanced, but not easy to use as bixby routines.
I like them, but lack of integration with smart home is a wasted opportunity
If I can use Bixby voice to turn my lights on why can't I use a routine for example

I haven't noticed a difference.
Running the AOE notifications app, I set the screen to 100% brightness while that app runs in bixby routines. Notification around the notch is awesome.
Thought of this one yesterday -
20% media volume on 9gag, Instagram, Reddit and YouTube. I hate clicking something to play sound and the creator thought it'd be funny to blast whatever sounds are with it. This ends that issue. ?
I noticed something...
when connected to my car bluetooth I set up to enable the GPS and to open the WAZE app. when it is opened I can see the GPS icon but when I receive a whatsapp or so and I click on it, it puts WAZE to the background but the GPS icon goes away...when I bring WAZE to the foreground again, I see it needs to update where I am as it gets GPS signal again...which is quite strange as the GPS icon in the quicklaunch remains active as long as I am connected with my car...
and an other question: is there some sort of priority setting for routines?

You don't have the battery settings to put Waze to sleep immediately or to not allow background running right?
Nice try, not helpful:
I use Tasker for many tasks. Among them these:
- when Waze active and power on AC, turn on volume
- When both Waze stops while no AC power OR power stops while no active WAZE, turn off volume
This cannot be done with Bixby

indeed, Bixby is quite basic, I hope them will make it a Tasker competitor over the months.
Thanks. I completely disabled all Bixby (via ADB) and am using Tasker and bxActions
