So, i found a method to turn our Nexus 5 into a Pixel phone and enable the Google Assistant. Read everything before doing anything!
The link to the post is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-assistant-t3477879/post69074667#post69074667
Instructions:
Download 3 zip files linked in the post. Flash the Velvet zip through TWRP first. Next one is the edited build.prop zip. Make sure the tweak.prop is in the same folder/directory as the other 2 files!!!
The tweak.prop is not for flashing. Just keep it in the same folder. After you flashed the other two, simply reboot and go to Settings>Apps>Google App>Storage>Clear all Data. Go back to your homescreen and make sure you had now on tap activated. Press the home button longer so Now-on-Tap plays its animation and what you should get instead of Google Now is the Assistant saying Hello to you!
Known Issues:
Ok, Google recognition.
Thats it. My first thread so im open for questions.
This Method is not by me!!! Im just sharing it .All credits go to FaserF.
I'm running it on pure nexus 7.0.. Its pretty sweet. Its like the siri we never had lol. Not as wide of conversation range as siri, but I'm sure that gets updated with time.

There is no fix for it, but you can automate the "skip" process with tasker. There is a post with images and another one with a text description on [this thread page](http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ow-to-enable-google-assistant-t3477879/page40)
It works pretty well though saying "ok google" for a followup question starts the assistant over and loses it's context. Hopefully someone will get this fixed soon.
not able to flash second file
It's easy to enable google assistant using Build.prop by changing ro.product.model=Pixel XL and add this at the end:
ro.opa.eligible_device=true.
But anyway thanks for your thread

better yet, as you're rooted and if you have the latest xposed framework (v87) and xposed installer (v3.1.1) simply download and install the "assistant enabler (v3.1)" module, activate and reboot. it's much cleaner and easy to uninstall if you so choose; and "ok google" command works perfectly.
edit: xposed is not available for Android N (nougat).
the xposed module that allows for "google assistant" is on marshmallow.
i'm currently running this on cm13 latest nightly on an lg g3 d850 without any problems.

He was talking about xposed for M.
hello miui lovers, this is a simple guide to help you install and get Google assistant working in miui 8 lollipop
things required
1. rooted miui to edit build.prop
2. Google app
3. Brain (^_-)
4. xposed installed if not follow the below steps or skip to main steps.
for lollipop, first install xposed installer apk and then flash this via recovery
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3950451&d=1480267032
credits:
1. SolarWarez, for this miui edition build for xposed
2 .rovo89, creator of xposed
3. me for this method
main steps:
1. open root explorer (can use es file explorer with root granted) goto /system/build.prop and edit it and replace
or simply use build prop editor app from playstore and do the following changes like replace
ro.build.version.release=5.1.1 with
ro.build.version.release=6.0.1
2. now open xposed installer and goto download section, search for assistant enabler, install it and activate by rebooting the device
3. now go to settings > additional settings > language and input > voice input now select enhanced Google search
4. open security > permission and allow all the permission for google app and then go to autostart in permission and enable autostart for Google app and then remove Google app from battery saver
almost done
now open Google app > settings > voice > ok google detection and calibrate or train your voice model see next post for screenshots
enjoy and press thanks if I helped ?

currently on rr so can't do a video tutorial.. meanwhile, you update your Google play services and reconfigure assistant enabler (ok google anywhere) after doing so, upload the screenshot if you don't see "talk to assistant" under voice in Google app setting

In android Pie the Pixel launcher is quite deeply integrated with the "muktitasking" (you know, when you swipe up to see recent apps, I don't know how to call it) I think, so the only way you have to use it is to install a simplified version, without the recent apps function (there was a post on the XDA frontpage some time ago).
If you really want the Pixel feeling, I suggest you to try the Official PixelExperiemce ROM for our device, it's awesome.

Requirements:
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with unlocked bootloader and TWRP or any other recovery flashed (you can try in other phones)
AOSP dialer apk (attached at the end of the post)( extract from zip before copying)
Instructions:
1.After flashing any Android 10 rom boot into recovery.
2.Mount system and vendor.
3.Now go to files.
4.Navigate to system/system/product/priv-app/Velvet
5.Delete Velvet folder.(Don't worry system will work just fine)
6.Now move or copy Dialer.apk in system/system/product/priv-app/Dialer (create folder manually) and set permission 755. ( For user who are using magisk manager you can skip this step and flash aosp dialer magisk module from magisk manager. It will work just fine. )
7.Unmount system and vendor.
8.Reboot.
9.Now allow all the permission requested by dialer on asking or manually allow it in app info.
10.Set dialer as default phone app.
11.Now try calling and recording. It will record audio from both the sides.
Hit thanks if this helps you.

Person who created aosp Dialer.
Why is it necessary to use a new dialer app to record calls in Android 10?
I know that recording calls was very difficult in Android 9, but read that problem was the result of Google programming A9 to be a ***** for call recording. That explains why recording calls in A9 wasn't just a problem when using the dialer app, but also VOIP apps like Skype, WhatsApp, TextNow, etc.

if you're happy unlock your bootloader you can flash Pixel Experience+ GSI
otherwise you'd still need root at least for lawnchair launcher if I remember right.
Lawnchair doesn’t need root. If you want to root, but not custom rom, try pixelify module.

If you want quick switch support, you need root. Android 13 also does not support lawnchair quickswitch.
