I have a "Start driving" task, in which I'm trying to launch two apps - TuneIn and Waze. I would like to have TuneIn run in the background and Waze in the foreground (as I always do). However, having the task launch two apps results in having only one of them running (last one in launch order), and the second one launches only if I manually close the first one. How can I get over this issue?
Cheers.
I'm not sure I understand the problem but I think what your describing is that first the TuneIn app launches then the Waze app launches. But the TuneIn app doesn't play a station, nor does the play/stop controls show up in the notifications.
I believe this is because the TuneIn app is looking for an input to know what to play. Try putting a delay in for testing after the TuneIn app launches to give yourself time to select a station. If everything then works the way you want, you could automate the input with something like AutoInput.

Thanks for the reply. Will explain the problem in more details:
Problem is that if I tell the task to launch TWO apps, whichever app that is the last one, is the only one that runs. If, for instance, I tell the task to launch TuneIn and then Waze, the Waze opens up and TuneIn doesn't. I don't even see it in the status bar. Only if I close Waze, TuneIn will be launched. And vice versa.
Edit: Also tried the delay, and it initially didn't help. Now it seems that it had been too short. Enlarging it to 6 seconds did the trick. Thanks again for the answer. My drives are much safer now.

Is there a way for the display to stay lit when using google maps? I think it does stay lit when I have it navigate, but sometimes I want it to stay on and just track me. I know I can change the auto time out, but that becomes a hassle.
and I know I can have it always on when charging but I just wanted to see if there was a possibility of it staying on JUST for google maps.
thanks
There's an app on the market called Screen On widget. You select it to turn it on, it keeps the screen on until you turn the widget of. Also I think Settings Profiles had an option for certain apps. I do remember something on the market that referenced this but I don't remember what it was called, sorry. You would think that Google would build this into the app but idk.
there is an app like mentioned before, or you could plug it in a car charger and tell it to keep the screen on, or are you walking? there's also an app called gps tracker, you can check your trail online, it just runs in the background
You shouldn't have to use an app for maps to stay on. Maybe I need to retest that.
Stay awake, on the market, have the time option to cancel itself after the chosen time interval. I then reset to the system default time again.
Does anyone know of any way of using voice with Tasker that doesn't involve using Google services? I've only got Google App installed for the offline voice recognition, using the xposed plugin to force it to offline, I don't want to use anything else Google related (and the minute someone comes up with an alternative offline option I'll jump ship immediately.) That includes Google Play, so AutoVoice and Tasker Now are out. (Before anyone nitpicks, I use microG to provide the rest of the framework )
All I want to do is, when I press my bluetooth headset it launches my voice control task. I've got it set up so that when I use it from the phone I can use the search helper option when I use long press on the home button, set up with Event: Button: Long Search, but whenever I use my car BT button it launches Google Now.
Is there a way to intercept the intent perhaps? Or an alternative free app? Or a setting I've missed?
Thanks in advance!
There's a voice option native in Tasker.... Or a bt button pressed option. Either of those can run your task right?
The task works fine, using Get Voice, but I can't find a BT button pressed event.

Hi
how do you tigger autovoice so?
I didn't use Autovoice. And since then, utter was reborn as Saiy. I was trying to use Tasker to make a workable utter alternative, but no need now!
Hi,
I currently have a problem that is bothering me a bit.
Let me explain my situation.
I bought Tasker & AutoVoice so I could control the lights in my room with my voice.(AutoVoice is an app that intercepts Google Now voice messages).
Now I got that all up and running pretty good, however now I'm running into a problem.
I can't access Google Now when the screen is locked/off. To access it I use my Bullets V2 button.
In the app there is a message the Google prevents to intercept any Searches made from the lock screen. However I can't even access Google Now in the lock screen.
My question is, is there a way to let Google Now be accessed when the screen is off with the button from my Bullet V2?
Or is there another app that works with Google Speech to Text and Tasker (I know there are some for English but Google Speech recognition is the only one that understands Dutch good enough so it has to work with that)?
- Menno
Oneplus bullet v2 earphones pauses music when in motion
While listening to music on my earphones while riding a motorbike the music pauses automatically. No matter how many times and press the button to resume, it pauses on its own after like 10 seconds (approx). This happens only above the speed of 40kmph/25mph. I've tried all the music apps possible, with or without the internet, in airplane mode, everything but still the bug persists. Has anyone else also faced the same issue? Any solutions?
Yesterday the Android Auto app V2.1.7 was released. So far there was a selection menu only for the streaming and music apps available. This pull down menue is now available at the navigation button as well. Pressing it pushes Google maps to a menu bar. Probably Waze is the alternative navigation app which will be selectable there. Hopefully other navigation apps will be available soon. I would like to use here, Navmii and so on.
Regards
Tom
It would be nice to have Tomtom, as it's the only one with decent traffic info where I live.
But on my play store I still see the old version. I guess 2.1.7 hasn't made it everywhere?

My phone just got it a few minutes ago.
Let be honest though, the only options will be Google Maps and Waze (which Google also owns).
They've been talking about adding Waze for almost a year and I'll bet it turns out to be too hard to let other developers add their own apps.
Google really doesn't want developers doing their own UI's in the car because they believe they are the only ones that can make them safe.
Let's see. To have this jump shortcut means Google provides further API's fo other navigation apps. As an alternative to Waze I would like to see here and Navmii o AA. If this should become successful, Google must open it for other non Google apps as well.
Noticed the little arrow as well. Let's see what will come. I doubt that there will alternative apps.

Make them safe... oh yes by ridiculous bad UIs (instead of having simple tiles to hear let's say a podcast I am forced to click multiple hierarchies of menus instead of a single click)
Make them safe by forcing me to scroll many time to get a traffic overview because Maps occupies with half of the screen with idiotic turn instructions even if next 50km there are no turns.
Make them safe by forcing me to replug USB every 5 mins after crash
I noticed the arrow too and got excited, then clicked on it to find google maps as the only option.
I hope soundcloud isnt far away either
Hi guys,
I was simply trying to use Android Auto as a car launcher on my smartphone, without any actual intergration with the car, but there's always something lacking.
I've got problems with Google Assistant, there are various useful commands missing when I launch it from Android Auto.
I open Android Auto, I say "Ok Google", Google Assistant correctly starts but I can't use the following commands:
Take a note > That used to create a note in Google Keep
Open $application > That used to launch the mentioned app
and probably more I haven't tried yet.
I'm using the Italian language.
I've got a Xiaomi Mi 6 with MIUI 10 and Android Oreo 8.0.
Is this something wanted by design? To avoid distractions while driving?
Or is it a bug in my Android Auto?
Thanks!
Up guys!
Anyone? Isn't this the right section to post this?
Hi,
When android auto is on, several functionalities of android are blocked.
Google's idea is that only those applications which are homologated for android auto works. They said this is for safe driving, i don't agree.
This is limited to some music apps and Google maps/waze.
Nothing else will work.

I was afraid of that
Thank you for the confirmation.
Android Auto and Google Assistant require compatible version of the Play Service, are you using all updated?
Read here my setup that is working https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77982211&postcount=944

So you mean:
GPS 12.8.76 (auto updated locked via Titanium to avoid unlocking of AA Mirror every day)
Google 8.14.15.21 (auto updated locked)
Android Auto 3.7.584044 (auto updated locked)

I always keep everything updated to the latest release so what I've got is:
GPS: I don't know what that is...
Google: 8.33.6.21
Android Auto: 3.7.584044
Do you see anything wrong in my setup?
Apart from this, I've discovered that on Google Play Store it doesn't look like Google Auto should be so limited: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.projection.gearhead&hl=en
Just say “Ok Google” to...
• Route to your next destination using Google Maps or Waze with real-time GPS navigation and traffic alerts.
• Get updates on your route, ETA, and hazards in real-time.
• Have the Google Assistant check your calendar for you so you know where you need to be.
• Set reminders, get updates on the news, and check last night’s score.
• Avoid distractions while driving by setting a custom do not disturb message while driving.
• Make calls using Google Assistant and answer incoming calls with just a tap.
• Access your contacts folder and send and receive messages with the Google Assistant using SMS, Hangouts, WhatsApp, Skype, Telegram, WeChat, Kik, Google Allo, and many more messaging apps.
• Manage your infotainment system like never before. Listen to your favorite media apps including Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Google Play Music, Amazon Music, SiriusXM, TIDAL - High Fidelity Music Streaming, Napster Music, and Deezer. Many more music, radio, news, sports news, audiobook, and podcast apps are also supported.

Is there a guide or an article from Google that explains what we can do and we can't do with Google Assistant under Android Auto?
Try remremoving Google assistant seems I have the Sam issue when i installed Google assistant??
Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
Do you mean switching back to Google Now, instead of Google Assistant?
I don't think we can do it, we should uninstall the "Google" app and install an older one from an APK, it doesn't make much sense.
Is there anyone willing to try those two voice commands and see if they work?
Anyway, I didn't find much information about this problem.
By now, I gave up using Google Keep while driving and started using reminders, than I later copy to Keep when I reach home.
I say something like "Hey Google remind me to buy this album in 30 minutes", like explained here: https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/7387866?co=GENIE.Platform=Android&hl=en
I really hope Google is going to remove these limitations in the near future.
