fingerprint lockscreen lag - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

guys i am on oos 4.5.1 and sometimes the home screen appears after 1 or 2 seconds after unlocking the phones using the fingerprint scanner
any idea how to fix it
this never happened before 4.5.1

1 or 2 seconds? That's a speed that doesn't seem like a problem.

It should be 0.2 seconds.

1 or 2 seconda after my phone has been unlocked using the fp sensor
by that i mean that my fp sensor makes unlocks the phone in like 0.2 seconds but the screen takes another second or two to come

I'm not sure what you mean by "The screen takes another second or two to come". How can you verify that your FP sensor unlocks your device in 0.2 seconds in the first place?

OnePlus fp sensor is extremely fast
as soon as i place the finger i hear the unlock sound but screen does not wake up for another one or two seconds after unlocking sound

You may want to grab a logcat and capture the moment of unlocking, that would help

Screen wake up time has increased significantly

After the latest update (.140) I have noticed that the fingerprint sensor has slowed down awfully. It takes like 2 seconds to unlock. But it seems to be snappy if you manually turn on the screen and then unlock.
Meaning the screen wake up time is the issue here. It won't just wake up as soon as I press the fingerprint sensor. And it's getting super annoying.
Has anyone else noticed this issue?
Model : COR - AL00
--------------------------------------
Update : As I suspected it's not the fingerprint sensor after all, it's the screen itself. The screen is taking much longer to wake up, even when I try by pressing the lock button it takes a significant amount of time to wake the device up and turn on the screen, is anyone experiencing this issue?

Try to update then check again.

Oh sorry I just noticed, I'm on .140 not 135
YES, I have the same issue
i am on .140.. facing no issue.
I think there's a new update (.141) let's wait and see if that fixes our issue.
Mine it's pretty snappy

It is the face unlock. The phone processes the face first before waking screen in order to skip the lockscreen after unlock. Disable it if it bothers u too much and it will be normal again

Burn in? No, but it's weird.

Since I have only had my Mi 9 for less than a month, it should be impossible that it already has a Burn In...
However on the part of the screen where the fingerprint sensor sits, I noticed a grey-ish circle, which is exactly the size of the fingerprint. Since Burn In after 2 weeks should be impossible I turned the phone off and restarted it after a Minute and the spot was gone.
Now 2 hours later it is there again.
I don't even use the fingerprint sensor very often, only if I can't use face unlock...
Did anyone experience a similar problem?
(Btw, it's not software, I took a screenshot and it wasn't there)

Well, that's interesting... Do follow this up to let us know what's up.
Before I got my Mi 9 yesterday, I clocked a full 4 years on my Note 4, and never experienced burn in... In fact, I would argue that the display looks the same today, as it looked the day I bought it. (no noticeable brightness drop)
i have experienced this on every "in display fingerprint" phone i've owned, and all it it is the optical sensor slightly visible with the screen off .

Hey Man sorry for telling you so but this gray spot is the actual hole that your phone needs for the indisplay fingerprint scanner to work. You cannot notice it in all conditions. To test it go out in the sun max out the brightness and use a completely white photo.
P.s. there is another hole near your notch which is your proximity sensor

I wish I knew all this before I sold my Mi 8 Pro for dirt cheap lol

fingerprint reader freezes, wont register, and not responding

I bought my mi 9 2 days ago and it all worked fine. But today I've noticed that sometimes it will not register a touch, it stays as a fingerprint icon. Also, there was about 2 times it froze, like the icon froze while it was scanning, I had to unlock the phone by pin to get rid of it. Sometimes, I also notice that I have to press multiple times to get it to read, my finger is dead centre of the reader, but I still have to touch it multiple times. Anyone having the same issue or has a solution?
I also deleted and reregistered my finger multiple times. I'm on 10.2.13.0, btw.
I had this too until I added the same finger multiple times. Add the finger you are most comfortable with using as many times as you can.
When I do this it works almost every time, perhaps 19 out of 20.
10.2.13 here too.
I am able to reproduce the problem most of the times: having the phone in my pocket, I take it out and try to unlock. The reader does not respond, or it just lights and goes off cyclically as if it was retrying, yet no retry notification. If I doubletap to activate lock screen, it works like a charm.
Activating the rotation gesture to activate the unlock screen mitigates this, but other problems arise. If the phone is on the table, the only solution is to doubletap or to hit power to activate the unlock screen.
I read somewhere that it is a wakelock issue. I deoptimized the energy in the biometrics app via miappa, but the problem is still there.
Any solution?

What's the latest EU ROM version for the Mi 9? I'm a little bit confused on their site.

Face unlock Double tap to sleep

I use a widget called screen tap to lock or something or another for the double tap to sleep on any launcher. Have been using it for a while across a few phones. However when I got the S10 I just started using face unlock due to this slow and clunky FP sensor.....but I've discovered this issue where double tap to sleep with face unlock on makes the phone immediately wake back up to the lock screen for a second unlike pressing the power button which acts correctly. I tested it out on nova's built in settings without the widget (which I was using on one UI launcher) and it does the same thing so obviously it's some sort of conflict with face unlock and double tap to sleep. Anyone know why?

Wait, slow and clunky? Maybe off topic but mine is extremely consistent after they fixed it like 4 months ago. Maybe relearn prints and make sure you get the whole thumb scanned.
Also I have double tap to sleep setup on Nova using accessibility as screen lock method and tried your scenario with face unlock enabled, but did not encounter your issue on Android 10

Oh, I'm on cricket in the US , so still stuck on 9 (with no hope in sight for 10 lol). I've deleted them and reset them a few times now and idk it's just not as fast as I'm used to with capacitive ones, there's an extra second, even compared to the one in the OnePlus 7t I was using for a few days , it cannot compete. It works a lot better if you press hard and firm I guess, but again I'm not used to that. But yeah idk why it's doing that, did it to me on Nova too if I use double tap to sleep at all it immediately opens back up to the lock screen. I don't think it's looking for my face in that scenario either because it doesn't face unlock when it does it, but it definitely IS happening because of the face unlock because it doesn't happen if I turn it off altogether and use the double tap to sleep......if I press the power button to turn the screen off this does not happen.

Face unlock not working when screen off

Anyone else having this issue? I have to either tap phone or tap power button to get screen to turn on, then face unlock will work. Previously I would be able to just hold it up to my face with screen off and it would just unlock. After most recent update it no longer does this. Very frustrating.
Check maybe lift to wake phone is turned off in the settings.

Mine was doing that too...along with auto brightness stuck and the proximity sensor wasn't turning the screen on and off during calls. As a last resort before sending it back (since I had to wipe it anyway) I tried the first android 11 beta (not 1.5). It almost completely fixed everything but the proximity sensor. Still had to occasionally tap the phone or power it on to face unlock though. Google replaced it because of the proximity sensor. The replacement phone is working fine on latest update of 10

Good to know. Haven't wiped just yet, may do what you did there.

I really didn't have ANY bugs that I found with beta 1....read 1.5 has some issues. Is your proximity sensor working? I used androsensor to confirm
edit I did wipe face data before erasing

My prox sensor is working fine. It just won't face unlock with screen off. Turned on lift to check phone and now screen wakes without me having to do anything but still, there was a time where I had that feature off and face unlock would unlock with screen off
