Weird wakelocks - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people, I'd like to ask if anyone is getting these two high-count wakelocks on LOS15 or other ROMs, I'm talking about qpnp-vadc and the "no-name" one (lower count but still problematic IMHO)
Thanks a lot!

[Q] Some remaining probs with doc 7.6.2

I am trying to get a solution for these 3 problems I am facing with Doc´s 7.6.2.
Maybe it is not a big deal to make it a perfect ROM but these 3 topics are annoying:
I wrote the same message already in Doc´s threat but no answer at all. in 5 min 10 new messages so nobody really takes care for a new question
Hi Guys,
Some problems I do have with the 7.6.2 and for sure I am not alone with these errors.
1 From time to time high energy consumption but sometimes not - this is crazy. One thing I realized when alarm is switched on for all weekdays then it sucks almost 20% in 5h - just in standby mode. Whats wrong here?
2 GPS signal is bad. When you using this tracking tools eg. cardio trainer it looses half time the GPS signal. Was definitely not with older ROMs.
Is that the modem version?
Is this part of the kernel?
3 Bluetooth works but whenever activating and deactivating getting a stupid message about an opp bla bla.
What is wrong?
Who can help?
Thanks

quite alot galaxy s users have reported issues with the gps reception i used to think its just a driver issue but upon reading into it would seem its related to the antenna. The wifi also suffers from this problem for me it does anyway. you can try out gps booster lite from market it does help outdoors to get a faster fix as for battery issues well im not so sure you would prob better asking in that thread if your still not heard try sending a pm that should work. good luck

1.) Turn off your lagfix, run stock RFS see if you still get the issue.
Do a fresh install dont add ANY apps other than stock, observe for 1-2 days of battery usage.
2.) GPS is a hit or miss, hardware is broken.
3.) Never had issues with BT, I use it on a day to day basis to pass around files at the office.
Are you using one of those OC kernels? Or any of the suggested kernels for the matter? I was using Super Optimized Kernel for a while and the battery drain was outstanding even on the non-OC versions. Switched to SpeedMod 300hz. Haven't monitored the battery though but it seems better with normal usage. Also, what lagfix are you using? For a time I was using the Ext-4 Overkill lagfix from the ULF and I noticed considerably less battery life.
As Earlz suggested, try disabling lagfixes and tweaks and monitor..then if it is better than before perhaps using a different lagfix would be a solution. Try switching up kernels (remembering to disable lagfixes prior). Try running different launchers too. I'm no expert on how these things work and affect battery life, but this is all based from personal experience.
My GPS never worked from the start no matter what firmware/ROM I'm on so it seems to really be a hardware issue as EarlZ mentioned. If the problem came about after flashing 7.6.2 then try reflashing to stock firmware with repartition and installing 7.6.2 again after clearing cache and factory reset. Somehow that (having a super clean install) usually fixes random problems I get with any ROM. I'm not certain if it will have any affect on GPS performance but it's worth a try.
Bluetooth is still working fine for me. Perhaps the aforementioned clean install advice I gave could remedy this.
Hi there, i rescently installed DJP5 v8.0.1 . And have some problems with it. When i'm making call i hear the other side perfect, but they dont hear me well. Is it some issue with the ROM or ? Have someone else experienced similar problems?

There is investigation on that one...
For now, it seems to be a modem issue from the stock modem of ADJP5
Flash another modem seems to fix this issue

[Q] kswapd/0 using too much cpu. What can I do?

Hi all!
This is my first post. First, I'd like to say that you guys are awsome!
I have a i9000B with latest JJVD rom updated with Kies.
From now and then, I notice that a lot of times the cpu is under heavy usage and the culprit is always the kswapd/0 process.
I know this process is responsible for make the swap of virtual memory. I'd like to ask is why it is taking so much cpu and so frequently and what can I do to make it stop or at least reduce the occurrences of that.
Thanks in advance.
I'm having same problems as you, some say it's K-9 mail's fault, other provide a different solution.
I haven't tried anything yet.

Why does LineageOS 15.1 and other custom Oreo ROMs lag after a few days of use?

Is it just me or does anyone else get this?
The lag reaches an almost unusable state, especially when the device is charging and thermal throttles.
Is there any workaround. The changing of number of background processes to 4 helped a bit (besides, what exactly is the standard limit anyway?)
Here's some active discussion on Reddit.
i can relate to this
Please help!I got the same problem here

[Q] Horror: Battery Drain on EXYNOS N9 - any insights?

Hi there!
I know that this is not the first thread regarding the EXYNOS battery drain issue, but as a matter of fact, I didn´t find any hints on how to tackle it on all the forums out there. I constantly get something between 2 to 4 hours of SOT with my Note 9 and I guess I am right to say that this is far beyond strange. My 3 years old Oneplus 3T still achieves something around 6 hours - with the very same bevavior and a way smaller battery.
I´m a standard user without any special usage behavior - mainly messaging, mail checks, some notes here and there and some spotify. Dual Sim active, WiFi active, AOS active, good wifi & data connection.
Here are some repeated measurements (samsung, gsam):
EDIT: Exchanged Screenshots, see below
This cannot be normal - and as I´m obviously not alone with this issue, I´m super grateful for every meaningful discussion on the why and how to tackle. I don´t think that any behavior recommendations would be helpful here ("disable wifi if not needed", "reduce screen brightness to a minimum" etc). I don´t want to mess around with greenify via root or xposed module etc either. This is a 1000€ device and it performs much worse than my old OnePlus.
What do you guys think? is there anything i´ve missed? Are there any hints on how to hunt down some main suckers? Did anyone with an exynos device and the same issue get out of this mess?

His links in a post within the real life review forums works.
If I was OP, I'd start from scratch. I'd also be checking standby drain V SOT. Put device in airplane mode and check overnight how much battery consumption has occured. Then same with airplane mode off. Within gsam app, also check what apps are using what the most via the pull down menu, pic attached.
Also try putting to sleep all apps that dont require your notifications all the time.

Jepp, have done a factory reset recently which didn´t really have a significant effect Before someone asks: I didn´t use youtube premium until 3 days ago, it´s not the battery eater. Check this:

Strange with your SoT.. I tried a few things that helped me really. Just look into your Devoptions and navigate to ''Backgroundprocesses'' & ''Backgroundchecking for Apps'' Read this in antoher Thread here..so if you deactivate things like Bixby or similar..my SoT push up to nearly 7 Hrs and my overall runtime of the device is between 2 or 3 Days, depend on Usage. Bevore i get only 2-3 Hrs SoT and overall runtime about 1.5 Days. So maybve it will help you with this 2 settings in Devoptions.
If you cant find it, i can attach Screenshots, wich 2 Options i mean. But my Systemlanguage is German, just saying. But if you want, i upload a Screenshot. Want to say that the impact for Sot and overall runtime was amazing. You can feel it just after deacitivating a few things, if you look on your Batterybar. Other Option is to clear Cache via Recovery. But this helps not everytime and if you done a factoryreset so far, i dont think this will help.
*Edit* Oh forget to say, you can also put your Always On on activate by taping on screen. So this save me a few % Battery aswell !
Hope this will help you :good:
Heyhey Treasarion! Thx for your reply, very much appreciated! Hey, feel free to add your Screenshots, because - as a matter of fact - my Screenshots are in German as well .
I know about the impact of the AOD (but anyway, thx for the hint!), but based on my experience, that's just approx 1 % per hour (at max!), so this "macht die Suppe nicht fett". There must be another issue....
Hey would be cool to see your recommendations!

''so this "macht die Suppe nicht fett" YMMD :laugh::laugh::laugh:
Okay i give you a Screenshot wich 2 Options i mean, and 2 Screenshots wich things i personaly deactivated and are safe to deactivate. So you dont must research by yourself :highfive:
'Edit' Oh hope you can see something on my last 2 Screens..maybe they are too large ?! And for your usage case i recommend you to look exactly what you need and what not. Want to say maybe you can deactivate more then in my personal setup or less, depend on your usagecase. But i can say, that everything work perfect for me with this list of apps i deactivated for backgroundcheck or put in standbymode.
Hey! Thx for providing me with your suggestions - just updated my setup accordingly - will keep you posted!
Hi OP.
Any update on the battery performance?
Hey there,
sadly not - honestly, I'm a bit frustrated at the moment and i dont really know what to do.
What you can see in the screenshot is my exceptional use of Whatsapp yesterday evening, but still: no matter what I do, I can literally watch the battery go down.

Btw: here's one of a lot of issue reportings within the samsung members space. You can read yourself through those 10 pages, all of them are reporting the same issues.

So you had the Problems with Oreo too ?
Actually - i dont know bought the Note 9 used, as always and it already came with pie (to me!). I bought it in January, the original receipt is dated on September 18.
Maybe a downgrade to oreo via Odin is recommended to see if that helps
I mean : You tryed anything else i think
Uuhh what the...did you know that spotifiy is using the accelerator like - all the time? Just stumbled upon this in BBS and a minute of research has shown that this is a know issue since years.
Will deinstall Spotify just for a day and see if it helps. Is just had a day with Bluetooth of - no effect.
EDIT: added 2 more Screenshots. One shows a service calles com.google. android.gms, which I guess is related to play Services. Numbers of alarms and corresponding wakeups are quite high as well...

Separated display

Hello there!
Didn't find something in a search.
The screen on my phone is sometimes separate into several parts (img attachment). On stock kernel it happens ~1 time per week, on custom kernel (for turn off force encryption for example) it happens ~4 times per day. Firmware is official from Google (7.1.1).
Usually it happens when i watching video (youtube, browser, google photos etc). If I take a screenshot when this happens, the screenshot will be normal. To stop it, just turn screen off than on through the power button.
Any ways to solve this problem?

There have been people plagued by "vertical screen tearing" since the device's release. I'm thankful that I'm not one of them.
If memory serves, 3rd party launchers have contributed to the problem, reducing frame rate has improved the problem, a battery on its last legs has contributed to the problem, some governer settings in a custom kernel has help.
I remember multiple posts about this and I spent most of my time in the pure nexus thread. Maybe searching on "screen tearing" there will give you some ideas.
I tried custom ROM(lineage). And problem is gone

Likely due to differences in the kernel configuration. I seem to remember this problem developed for some as their battery aged, making kernel tweaks improved their situation.
